Gordon Wiese

Gordon Wiese, 48, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, in Moorhead as a result of an accident.

He was born July 30, 1956, in Fergus Falls, to Emery and Elizabeth (Ecker) Wiese. He attended Fergus Falls High School and then served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1975.

In 1977, he married Linda Hanson in Fergus Falls. He worked as an apprentice for the Bridge and Ornamental Ironworkers Association, and later worked as a laborer in Fargo and Moorhead.

He enjoyed fishing and spending holidays with his family, reminiscing fond memories.

He is survived by his son, Allen, of Fergus Falls; mother, Elizabeth Wiese, of Elizabeth and her friend, Darwin Braaten; brothers, Bradley (Janelle) Wiese of Wahpeton and Tony Wiese of Omaha, Neb.; and sisters, Roxanne (Blake) Meland of Pelican Rapids and Sheralyn Emery of Fergus Falls. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emery Wiese; infant brother, Allen; and grandparents, Otto and Olive Wiese and Perry and Alice Ecker.

Military Participation: VFW Post No. 612 and American Legion Post No. 30, Fergus Falls

Visitation: Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. public prayer service at and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Augustana Lutheran Church of Elizabeth

Chester Bredeson

Chester S. Bredeson, 86, Fergus Falls, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Fergus Falls.

He was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Aurdal Township, Otter Tail County, the son of Christ and Hulda (Sander) Bredeson. He grew up and attended school in the Fergus Falls area. On March 18, 1941, he entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, serving during World War II in European Theatre. He was discharged in December of 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis., and then returned to his parent's farm in rural Fergus Falls.

Later, he attended Dunwoody Vocational School in Minneapolis, where he studied auto body, painting, welding, and sheet metal work.

On Nov. 25, 1950, he married Idella Anderson at Fosston. The couple lived in Fergus Falls and later at Jewett Lake. He was employed at garages in Elbow Lake, Pelican Rapids, and Fergus Falls. He also worked in road construction for several years at B.K. Soby and Dieseth Company. He belonged to the 49ers Trade Union, worked on the Ottertail Power expansion of the Hoot Lake Plant, and on the construction of the beet plant in Wahpeton.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Fergus Falls, the Lion's, Elks, VFW Post No. 612, and the AARP all of Fergus Falls. He was past president of Methodist Men's Club, Lions Club, Church Who-So-Ever Group, Isaack Walton League, and a Red Cross Bloodmobile. Chester also enjoyed traveling. Chester and Idella were very proud of the fact that they had traveled in all 50 states.

Survivors include one sister, Lorraine Sprenger of Traverse City, Mich.; two brothers-in-law, Warren Erickson of Fallon, Nev., and Stan Noyes of Sacramento, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Doris Bredeson of Savannah, Ga. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Idella, who died in August 2004; parents; two brothers, Harry and Kenneth; and sisters: Clarice Rian, Irene Noyes and Eleanor Erickson.

Military Participation: VFW Post No. 612 and American Legion Post No. 30, Fergus Falls

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at Grace United Methodist Church

Serine Trane

Serine Trane, 96, Pelican Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids.

Serine Andrea Thorsten was born March 21, 1908, in Sundown Township, near Redwood Falls, Minn., to Peter and Lizzie (Peterson) Thorsten. She was baptized April 19, 1908, and confirmed on May 20, 1923, in Redwood Falls. She attended rural schools there and three years of high school in Redwood Falls. She moved with her folks to Goodridge, Minn., in 1924 and graduated from high school there. She attended Bemidji and Moorhead State Teachers Colleges. She taught rural schools in Pennington, Clay, Wilkin, and Otter Tail Counties, and in Rothsay Public School in Rothsay. She also worked three years in the library department of the Minnesota State Historical Society in St. Paul, MN. On April 2, 1949, she married Norman Trane in St. Paul. They farmed near Pelican Rapids until Norman's death Dec. 1, 1975. She then moved into Pelican Rapids. In June 2002 she entered the Good Samaritan Center.

She loved teaching, reading, her family, and visiting with friends, especially former students. She was an active member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids. She was also active in WELCA.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman; three brothers: Chester Thorsten, Lyle Thorsten and John Thorsten; five sisters: Alta, who died in infancy, May Vogt, Sylvia Johnson, Alva Bednar, and Rachel Varva; and two nephews, Jerry Johnson and Dan Vogt.

Visitation: Monday, November 29, from 4 ro 7 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids

Viola Teske

Viola Mae Teske, 91, Battle Lake, formerly of Appleton, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in Battle Lake.

"Vi" was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Sac County, Iowa, to Albert and Bertha (Liebsch) Bahl. The family moved to Holloway in 1915 where she grew up. She was baptized at the Holloway Methodist Evangelical Church and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Correll. In 1930 she helped the county agent organize the Holloway Progressive 4-H Club, the second club in West Swift County, and was a charter member in Class B sewing for three years. She was county champion those three years with her sewing projects and won honorable mention at the state fair and was sent on to the national show. She remained club leader for several years.

After graduating from Holloway High School in 1931, she chose to stay home with her mother, who was an arthritic cripple. She taught kindergarten, Sunday school and played the church pump organ for several years at the Holloway Methodist Church.

She worked at Holzheimers New Deal Store, Vaala's Caf/, the post office, Doege's Candy Kitchen and Latzke's Store. She married Delford Teske Sept. 23, 1948, and they moved to Appleton, where they made their home. She then joined Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the ladies aid for many years, serving in various offices. She was a member of the E.T.C. Club since 1951 and was a member of the Appleton Eastern Star for 22 years, serving as Worthy Matron in 1945. She loved to dance in her youth and enjoyed sewing and craft work. Spending time with her family was important to her, and she was a loyal fan at all of her sons' sporting events.

She is survived by her husband, Delford, of Battle Lake; four sons: Larry (Marsha) Teske of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jerome Teske of Battle Lake, Daryle (and Vicki) Teske of Moorhead and Danny Teske of Fergus Falls; three granddaughters: Malia of Honolulu, and Lauren and Brynn of Moorhead; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Clyde and Elwin Bahl; and a niece, Deborah Raymond.

Visitation: Friday afternoon with the family at the church for one hour prior to the services

Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton

Lillian Moen

Lillian J. Moen, 76, Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Broen Memorial Home.

She was born April 26, 1928, at a farm home in Lake Bronson, Minn., the youngest of six children, to Nels and Marie (Pearson, Lander) Jacobson. She grew up and attended school in the Lake Bronson area.

On April 11, 1946, she married Morris A. Moen in Hallock, Minn. After marriage, the couple lived in Grand Forks, Fargo, and Fergus Falls. She worked at National Tea Grocery and Norwest Bank in Fergus Falls.

She was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls, its Ladies Aid and Quilters. She devoted numerous hours to the Minnesota Veterans Home, was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and the DAV, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and N.A.R.F.E. She enjoyed baking, cooking, embroidery, crocheting, bowling and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Allen) Gundberg of Ottertail; two sons, James (Bobbi) of Bemidji and Joel (Kristine) of Perham; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chadd (Jody) Gundberg of Big Lake, their children, Caleb and Madelyn; Cory (Devina) Gundberg of Apple Valley, their son, Connor; Jessica (Michael) Hoffmann of New Brighton; Brady Moen of Bemidji; Shane Moen of Duluth; Judd (Rebecca) Moen of Fergus Falls, their son, Gage; Noah Moen of Perham, Ethan Moen of Fergus Falls and Kaila and David Vennes of Perham; two sisters, Anna Peterson of Lake Bronson, Minn., and Violet Bowman of Kennedy, Minnesota; half-brother, Carl Lander of Hamilton, Mont.; and sisters-in-law, Donna Jacobson of Grand Forks and Rene Moen of Wahpeton. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Moen, who died July 2, 2004; parents; one brother, Melvin Jacobson; and a half-sister, Minnie Bowman

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls

Donald Liedl

Donald E. Liedl, 77, Casa Grande, Ariz., died Nov. 21, 2004, at the RTC Hospice House in Casa Grande.

He was born July 4, 1927, in Fergus Falls and retired from his work as an architect with the University of Wisconsin and Fladd and Associates in Madison, Wis., and moved to Florence, Ariz., where he and his wife, Beth, have lived for the past 11 years.

Don served with the US Navy during WWII in Guam and the Bikini Islands. He graduated from NDAC (now North Dakota State University) with a BA degree in Architecture.

His greatest pleasures during retirement were playing the organ for Monday dinners at the Florence Gardens Club House and flying R/C Model Airplanes with his sons and friends. He was a Ham Radio operator, received his private pilot license and was a teletype operator in his youth.

He is survived by his wife, Beth, of Florence, Ariz.; sister, Betty (Chuck) Schmidt of Escanaba, Mich.; brothers: Jerry of Hendersonville, N.C., and Bob (Melissa) of Neenah, Wis., sons: Jeffery (Deb) of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Gary (ShaRon) of Florence, Ariz., Gregory (Paulette) of Bemidji, and daughter, Linda (David) Kitsemble of Waunakee Wis.; children by marriage are Lisa Kober (Tom) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Gavin (Carrie)Kober of Salsbury N.C.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and first wife, Carol Berg Liedl; parents, Maximillian and Leetta (Lou) Liedl, all of Fergus Falls; two infant children, Steven Jon and Mary Christine, his brother and wife, Jack and Grace of Fairfax, Va.; sister in law, Carol Lee Liedl of Hendersonville N.C.

He requested no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to RTA Hospice, or American Cancer Society. Internment of ashes is planned to be in Fergus Falls, beside his wife, Carol, on July 4, 2005, with family gathered.
