Sally Rademacher

Sally M. Rademacher (Eitreim, 92, Fergus Falls, died Nov. 20, 2004, surrounded by her family who loved her.

She was born Oct. 2, 1912, in Rock County, Minn., to Iver and Jorgena Eitreim of Garretson, S.D. She graduated from Garretson, S.D., High School. She married Fred Rademacher April 12, 1931. They spent many years in Garretson, then Rapid City, S.D., and Sioux Falls. In 1958 they moved to Fergus Falls and built a home on Lakeview Drive. She loved the lake, sewing, gardening, playing bridge, and golf was her passion. She was an avid competitor and won many tournaments. Her family and friends benefited greatly from her beautiful handknit Norwegian sweaters and needle work that will be keepsakes forever.

She managed The Nutri-system Center in Fergus Falls for eight years, and her sewing talent developed into a thriving drapery business. Her humor and wit entertained everyone she knew, and her positive, loving spirit will always be remembered. Sally's unconditional love for her children and grandchildren and friends will remain with them forever. She lived her live with dignity and grace. She truly was a lady, wife, mom, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her son, John Rademacher, Otter Tail Lake, daughters, Jeanne Wold (Richard), Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jane Miller, Pelican Lake; son-in-law Ordell Braase, Arizona; grandchildren: Elizabeth Braase Hopkins, Tom Braase, Jon Braase, Drew Braase, Sally Wold Smith, Sue Wold Kraft, Sarah Wold Mathis, Johnathon Rademacher, Megan Rademacher, and Kirsten Miller; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Marty (Elaine) Eitreim, Garretson, S.D.; sister, Ida Hentum (Donald) Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Iver and Jorgena Eitreim; daughter, Janice Braase; two brothers, Kenny and Lloyd Eitreim; sister, Jenny Larson; and a grandson, Steven Braase.

Memorials can be directed to the A.L.S. Foundation care of Jane Miller/51312 Knoll Road/ Pelican Rapids, MN 56572.

Visitation: 12:30 p.m. before the funeral service

Orvall Domholt

Orvall S. Domholt, 84, Minneapolis, died Nov. 20, 2004.

He was in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to '45 and graduated from the University of Minnesot IT-Civil Engineering. He was a structural engineer from 1948 to '91 and was a partner at Raugland, Entrikin, Domholt and King. A member of the Minneapolis Engineer's Toastmaster's Club, he was the past president of the Engineer's Club of Minneapolis and MN Fed of Engineering Soc. Councilman St. John's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Diane (Richard); sons, Norman (Linda) and Paul (Laura); grandchildren, Chris, David, Daniel, Michael, Annie, Erik, Aurie & Kelsey; 3 great grandchildren; and brother, Conrad "Dutz" (Julane).

Visitation: Visitation Fri. from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at church.

Service: 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 27, at St John's Lutheran, 4842 Nicollet Ave S, Mpls.

Byron Anderson

Byron B. Anderson, 77, Fergus Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2004, at his home under the care of his wife, family and Lakeland Hospice.

He was born July 12, 1927, in Pelican Rapids, to Albert and Ellen (Nelson) Anderson. He grew up and attended public school in Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1946. After graduating from high school, he attended and graduated from Concordia College in 1950. Once out of college, he worked at a variety of sales jobs.

On Aug. 19, 1951, he married Shirley Swanson in Warren, Minn. The couple moved to Fergus Falls in 1955. In 1971, he purchased Rogers Brothers Shows, a traveling amusement park and concession business, and traveled with it throughout Minnesota. He also spent many years working as an associate with Bill Goetzinger of Elbow Lake for Gopher Travelers. He arranged and led many international tours through Indonesia, Russia, China, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Spain to name a few. Byron and Shirley enjoyed their years of traveling together.

He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, where he served on the Board and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member of the Elks and Masonic Lodge. He also was a proud member of the Wednesday Men's Lunch Group, "Lunch with the Boys" at Burger King East.

He enjoyed reading and going to the library. For many years he took his grandchildren to story hour with Betty. He was a big part of his grandchildren's lives, and enjoyed attending as many of their activities as he could. He was always willing to help others and spent many hours assisting some of the elderly in the community. He liked to play cards, especially bridge and was known for his dry sense of humor and the stories he told.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Fergus Falls; children, Craig (Donna) Anderson of Pueblo, Colo., Peggy (Ben) Underwood of Fergus Falls, Julie (Bill) Millard of Fergus Falls and Roy (Ellen) Anderson of Fergus Falls; 12 grandchildren: Kelsey Anderson, Byron Anderson, Jillian Anderson, Jack Underwood, Wade Underwood, Liz Underwood, Melissa Millard, Andrew (Emily) Millard, Joey Millard, Eric Anderson, Jake Anderson and Brady Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Gordon Anderson; and one grandson, Adam Millard.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice or to Augustana Lutheran Church Window Fund.

Visitation: Family and friends will gather from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home to greet family and friends. A public prayer service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday. also at the funeral home.

Terrel Burkdoll

Terry Lee Burkdoll, 50, Fergus Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls.

He was born Nov. 30, 1953, in Yakima, Wash., to Eldon G. and Beverly Jean (Ottoson) Burkdoll. He grew up and attended Hoover Elementary School, Franklin Middle School and Davis High School all in Yakima, Wash.

After high school he took EMT Training at Yakima Community College. He worked as a pathology assistant at Memorial Hospital in Yakima. In 1987, he moved to Fergus Falls and began working at the Holiday Inn and had his own house painting and janitorial services business. In 1991 he began working at Mexican Specialties and quickly was promoted to Plant Floor Manager. In 1997 he retired due to his declining health.

He was a former member and youth leader of the Jehovahâs Witness. He was planning to take the Inquirer's class at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

He loved to cook and enjoyed trying to perfect recipes. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching movies and the History Channel. He especially loved every precious moment he spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons, Jared (Brandy) Burkdoll of Fergus Falls and Brandon (Serena) Burkdoll of Fargo; grandsons, Alexander and Evan Burkdoll of Fergus Falls; mother, Beverly Burkdoll of Yakima, Wash.; fianc/e, Kathleen Bruns of Fergus Falls; and her daughter, Emma (Greg) Mertes of Wahpeton; Kathleen's grandchildren, Madeline and Macen; brother, Lon Burkdoll of Goldendale, Wash.; sister and brother-in-law, Dawn (Kim) Stevens of Yakima; ex-wives, Shirley Gully of California, Sharon Currier of Fergus Falls. She is also survived by many friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Eldon; and aunt, Darlene Peta.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home

Service: 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home

Olaf Loken

Olaf Loken, 88, rural Battle Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital.

He was born Nov. 28, 1915, in Victor, S.D., to John and Mary (Lokken) Loken. He was baptized in Victor, S.D., and attended school there until moving with his parents at the age of 12 to rural Carlisle. He attended Kron Country School District 125 in Oscar Township near Carlisle and was confirmed in Hedemarken Lutheran Church.

He later moved to the rural Battle Lake area where he dairy farmed and took care of his parents.

He enjoyed hunting and was an excellent shot. As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball in the catcher position. He was a good conversationalist who was very hospitable.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and special friends, The Twetes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Edwin, Julian, Victor and Melvin; and one sister, Myrtle.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Hedemarken Lutheran Church, Carlisle

Ella Nelson

Ella Nelson, 84, Battle Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Clitherall Township, Otter Tail County, to Frank and Tena (Hokanson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in Eagle Lake Lutheran Church where she remained a lifelong member. She graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1937 and later from Vocational Nursing School of Minneapolis. She was employed at Wesley Hospital in Wadena for two years and at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls for 35 years, retiring in 1984. She resided at the Page House in Fergus Falls following her retirement and became a resident of the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center earlier this year.

She enjoyed traveling with friends and volunteer work at Lake Region Hospital and the Senior Citizen Center. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Margaret Nelson of Battle Lake and Ione Nelson of Fergus Falls; five nephews: Gary Nelson of Fargo, David Nelson of Virginia, Paul Nelson of Florida, Larry Nelson of Battle Lake and Lonnie Nelson of Clitherall; three nieces: Gail Nelson of Battle Lake, Laurie Nelson-Trude of Fergus Falls and Peggy Thomas of Colorado; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: James, Orville, Arthur and George; one nephew, Gale Nelson; and one niece, Mary Kunzman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the donors choice.

Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake

Leonard Nelson

Leonard Nelson, 96, Battle Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

He was born Jan. 19, 1908, at Elmo, near Almora, Minn., to of Louis and Hannah (Olson) Nelson. He attended rural schools in District 99 and later moved with his family to the Clitherall area. He moved to Montana when he was a young man and worked in the oil fields there. He then returned to Minnesota and spent the rest of his life in Clitherall, where he worked for different people in the area, especially on the lakes.

He is survived by a sister, Esther Hoikkala of Hibbing, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur and Alick; and sisters: Lorena, Adeline, Tena, Hilma, Anna, and Amelia.

Service: 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home
