Veikko "V.K." Ketola
Veikko "V.K." Ketola passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in Duluth.
Born Dec. 20, 1923, he was a 1951 graduate of Southern Methodist University and a retired electrical engineer with Dallas Power & Light for 33 years. He had an avid interest in photography, ham radio and traveling. He also served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by sisters Ilta Forstie, Sirkka Wraspir, Meri Sisko Hedtke.

He is survived by his wife, Tita Ketola; a son, Richard Ketola; a daughter, Deena Ketola Peterson and husband, Kevin; a grandchild, "Pikku" Tita Peterson; a brother, Arvo Ketola and wife, Margie; several nieces and a nephew. He was devoted to his family and his community.
Family will receive friends: 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Restland Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243, (800) 749-7379, where service will be 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel, Pastor Tom Files officiating. Interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park.

Constance Reitan Clark
Constance Reitan Clark, 84, of Ocala, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, in her home.
She is survived by a son, Lary F. Clark; a daughter, Marilyn J. Clark; a brother, Dr. Daniel K. Reitan; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Marion County, Florida. Arrangements by Roberts Funeral Home, Ocala.

Charles J. McGillis
Charles J. McGillis, 84, of West Third Street died Monday, Aug. 13, in St. Luke's hospital.
He was born in Aitkin on Aug. 25, 1916, to John and Margaret (Kraus) McGillis. Charles married Iola Hurd on July 31, 1948. He had retired in 1976 as a conductor from the Northern Pacific & Burlington Northern Railroad, with 36 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army, which included service overseas in the European Theater.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 137, American Legion Post 71, Military Order of Cooties Pup Tent 5, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1173 and Moose Lodge 1478.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iola; his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

Charles is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Service: 1 p.m. Friday in Foley Chapel. Burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Military honors accorded by the Duluth VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements by Hegstrom Family Funeral Homes, Foley Chapel, 5405 Ramsey St. (218) 624-4838.

Ollie M. "Nana" Fox
Ollie M. "Nana" Fox, 81, of Selinsgrove, Pa., passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
She was born May 22, 1920, in Cloquet, the daughter of the late Fred and Jennie (Sheff) Panger. On Nov. 22, 1946, she married John W. Fox, who preceded her in death in 1976.

She completed training in Duluth and became a registered nurse. While living in Florida, she owned and operated a children's day care center for nine years. When she and her husband, a golf pro, moved to Pennsylvania, she helped in the operation of the pro shop at the Winding Brook Club in Milton. Mrs. Fox helped with the opening of Edward's Card and Gift Shop, Susquehanna Valley Mall, and was employed there for two years. For six years she managed the Susquehanna Valley Country Club before retiring.

While living in Florida, she served on the Board of Education for the state of Florida. She was active in the Selinsgrove Senior Citizens and Meals on Wheels, and while living in Florida was a member of the Lady Lions.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Selinsgrove, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's League. She loved to go to the beach and enjoyed skiing, fishing and gardening. She found particular joy in her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Lemire and Les; and sisters, Sister Eunice, Rena and Claudia.

Surviving are daughters Jonica M. (Dr. Neil) Potter of Selinsgrove and Jessica M. Fox of New Burn, N.C.; grandchildren John Martina of Alpharetta, Ga., Jeremy Martina of Sunbury, and Marie and Heather Ross of North Carolina; great-grandchildren Alexis Martina, Austin Noe and Jasmine Aucker; and sisters, Sister Estelle Panger and Sister Alicia Panger, both of Duluth.
Visitors may call: 7-9 p.m. today in St. Pius X Catholic Church, University Avenue, Selinsgrove, where the Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Father Joseph A. Celia as celebrant. Burial in Catawba cemetery Park, Hickory, N.C. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Building 2, Suite 321, 2001 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102. Arrangements by V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.

JoAnn Alyce Nesgoda
JoAnn Alyce Nesgoda, 51, of Maryville, Tenn., passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001.
She was born in Duluth. She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in 1971. She married Michael Nesgoda of Duluth in 1971. JoAnn and her husband retired to Maryville in January 1999.

She was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Walland, Tenn. Their son, Erik, serves at the World Headquarters of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a member of the Knoxville Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Group and the Blount County Hope For Today Cancer Support Group. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, snow skiing, traveling and collecting antiques, but most of all she loved to help others in any way possible.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Mike; her son, Erik; her parents, Joe and Martha Czerniak of Duluth; brothers Bill Czerniak of St. Paul and Greg Czerniak of Houma, La.; and a sister, Annette (Czerniak) Meyers of Minneapolis.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Sunday in Cloquet Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, exit 237 off freeway to Highway 33 South Frontage Road. Cremation arrangements were made by Dotson Funeral Home, Maryville, Tenn.

THE REV. BOYD ELLEFSON
Rev. Boyd Ellefson, 61, of Thomson, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, in Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa.
Boyd was born Feb. 4, 1940, in Duluth, to Boyd Kermit and Ida June (Graham) Ellefson. He graduated from Proctor High School, attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, graduated from the University of Dubuque, Iowa, and received a master of Divinity degree from the Dubuque Theological Seminary, Dubuque. Boyd married Barbara Reck on Aug. 12, 1983, in Sanford, Fla.

Boyd had a special place in his heart for small country churches and served parishes in six states including Illinois (Scales Mound, Council Hill and Thomson, where he had been pastoring), Iowa (Marshalltown and LaMoille), Wisconsin (Keewaunee), Minnesota (McGregor, Brookston, Fleming, Palisade, Crosby, Deerwood, Longville and Remer), North Carolina (Reidsville), and Florida (Sanford). He served in the ministry for 43 years and had been the pastor for the York Community Church, Thomson. Boyd also served as a pastor with Mercy Hospice, Clinton. He was a member of the Thomson Lions Club and Thomson Rotary Club. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathon Graham Ellefson; and his parents.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Michele Lenore (Mark) Sundstrom and grandchildren Jared, Kimberly, Megan and Nicholas, all of Proctor; a brother, Daniel John (Susan) Ellefson of Duluth; a nephew, David Boyd Ellefson of Littleton, Colo.; and a niece, Melissa June Ellefson of Superior.
VISITATION: 2 until the 3 p.m. service Wednesday in York Community Church, Thomson, Chaplain Horst Hehr of Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, officiating. Burial in Lower York cemetery, Thomson. A memorial fund has been established in Boyd's name. Arrangements by Law-Jones Funeral Home.

ISABEL MORZENTI
Isabel Morzenti, 87, of Duluth passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Lakeshore Lutheran Home.
She was born March 24, 1914, in Hibbing to Antonio and Elvira Morzenti.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Andrew Gates in 1997; and her sister, Evelyn Gates.

She is survived by a nephew, Michael (Roberta) Gates of Riverside, Ill.; and her special friends, Rosemary Walsberg of Two Harbors and Nancy Gaida.
MEMORIAL SERVICE to be held at a later date. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home.

JOHN "JACK" M. GREENE SR.
John "Jack" M. Greene Sr., 65, of North Oak Bend Drive passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, in his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Michael and Honora Greene. He was a veteran of the Air Force and served from 1953 until 1957 as a communication specialist. He worked for the Duluth Police Department until his retirement in 1987, after 23 years of service. He served first as a patrolman, then went to the Juvenile Bureau, the Detective Bureau and was made sergeant of the Special Investigation Unit.

Throughout Jack's life, he contributed to many charities and enjoyed several hobbies. He will be sincerely missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his much loved companion, Susan Greene of Duluth; sons John "Mickey" Greene Jr. of Duluth, Daniel Greene of Milwaukee, Wis., and Kevin (Deanna) Greene of Duluth; daughters Randine (George) Hamilton of Los Angeles and Betsy Greene of Duluth; grandchildren Miranda, Kalsie, Christopher, Joshua, Michael and Cullen; and many relatives and friends.
MEMORIAL GATHERING: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday in Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home, the Rev. John Hammack officiating.

MARILYN M. ROUSSEAU
Marilyn M. Rousseau, 77, of Phoenix, formerly of Duluth, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001.
Marilyn did beautiful needlepoint work and was an avid golfer and bowler. She sang in the Duluth Cathedral choir for many years and had a beautiful soprano voice. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dean; parents Frank and Frances Hughes; and a great-grandchild, Gavin Sayre.

Survivors include her daughter, Margo (Mark) Sayre; son Randy (Sharon); grandchildren Brett and Natalie Sayre, and Kara Adona; great-grandchildren Addison and Jaden Adona, and Karinna Sayre; sisters Betty Jayne (Hughes) Gersey and Janice (William) Drigans.
VISITATION: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday in Werness Brothers Funeral Chapel, 3500 W. 50th St., Minneapolis. Interment in Fort Snelling National cemetery.
