ELSIE E. DONNOHUE
Elsie E. Donnohue, 83, of St. Paul, formerly of Duluth, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001.
She was born April 1, 1918, in Soudan. Elsie grew up in Tower and graduated from Virginia High School. She married
Leonard Donnohue in 1949. Elsie enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking and being with her family.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1977; her parents; three brothers; and a sister.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Sandra) of Stillwater, Minn.; her daughter, Shirley (Dennis) Nuechterlein of St. Paul; grandchildren Patrick, Alan "Butch" (Dana), Justin, Seth, Carling and Matthew; a great-grandson, Damian; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
VISITATION: 4 until the 6 p.m. service today in Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Burial in Park Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson Mortuary.
BERTHA TUBB DITAWAY UNDSETH
Bertha Tubb Ditaway Undseth, of Duluth passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001.
Bertha was born May 20, 1910, in Hale County, Ala. She had worked for the Holy Rosary Rectory in Duluth for many years. She was active in the Duluth Community Garden Program.
Bertha was called grandmother to many and mother to numerous people as she helped to raise many children in the community.
Her husband, John Undseth Jr., preceded Bertha in death.
Bertha will be deeply missed by all her family and leaves to mourn her daughters, Jennie (Kitty) Wardley, Nell Polk, as well as Janet Cunningham Carter and stepson, Tom (Ellen) Hall. She also leaves grandchildren, James Polk Jr. of Orlando, Fla., Lana Polk, Adrian (Peggy) Polk of Birmingham, Ala., Treva (Dick) Daly of Buffalo, N.Y., and Toria (Pen) Maclin of Rochester, Minn.; great-grandchildren Keith, Alvon Jr. and Adrian Carter; granddaughters Ebony (Michael) Wenzel and Venita Glover; a niece, Barbara Dixon; and a nephew, Clint Dixon. In addition, 11 other great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and many friends will grieve.
Arrangements are with the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
CATHERINE "KITTY" JOSEPHINE WAKEFIELD
Catherine "Kitty" Josephine Wakefield, 79, of Westberg Road died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in the Benedictine Health Center.
Catherine was born in Duluth on April 4, 1922, to Peter and Lillian (Westen) Paro and lived her entire life in Duluth. She was formerly employed in the bindery department at Davidson Printing Co. and she also ran Wakefield's Bait Shop for many years. Catherine loved to knit and crochet, but most of all she was a mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Gnesen.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 1995; sons Henry, William and Edward; a grandson, James; daughter-in-law Phyllis Wakefield; and son-in-law, Gary Hann.
She is survived by daughter Cheryl (Kenny) Hann of Duluth; sons Harold (Bonnie), Donald "Mike, " both of Duluth, and Robert (Mary) of Hermantown; grandchildren Ed (Nikki), Steve, Mari (Wayne), Lisa (Dan), Hank (Lori), John, Dan, Katie, Nichole (Dean), Kelly (Mark), Bobbie (Joe) Terra (Tim), Scott, Melissa; and 13 great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Sunday in Dougherty Funeral Home with wake prayers at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gnesen. Burial in St. Joseph's cemetery.
ARTHUR ANTHONY CLEMENT
Arthur Anthony Clement, 77, formerly of East Seventh Street, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in Nopeming Nursing Home.
He was born in Duluth on April 5, 1924, to Joseph N. and Clara (Laroque) Clement. Mr. Clement was an Army Air Corps veteran serving during World War II. In June of 1957, he married
Rosemarie Zimm and together they raised three children. Arthur was employed as a carpenter for over 40 years with A. Hedenberg Co.
He was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and a member of Carpenters Local 361.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Louis Clement; and sisters Teresa Randall and Betty Hausauer.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie; sons Craig Anthony (Marian) Clement and Mark Andrew Clement; and a daughter, Susan Marie Clement, all of Duluth; a brother, Edward (Luana) Clement of Minneapolis; sisters Lucile Rathe and Margaret Sterling, both of Duluth; and grandchildren, Daniel and Heather Clement.
VISITATION: 1 until the 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Monday in St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary cemetery with military honors accorded by the Duluth VFW combined honor guard. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth.
JULIET HANSON MAHER
Juliet Hanson Maher, 97, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001.
She was born May 6, 1904, in Black River Falls, Wis. She was a homemaker most of her life. In later years, she worked as a clerk in Duluth for the DuPont Co., the Damiano Center and as a hospitality host. Juliet loved gardening, crossword puzzles and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester J. Maher; her daughter, Patricia Lee Samborski; brothers Axel and Julius; and a sister, Helga.
Juliet is survived by her sister, Berdelle Gelineau of Carlton; grandchildren Scott (Judy) Samborski of Aspen, Colo., Denise Samborski of Minnetonka, Minn., Julie (John) Little of Champaign-Urbana, Ill., Steve Samborski of Minneapolis and Craig Samborski of Duluth; a nephew, Thomas (Virginia) Gelineau of Cloquet; a niece, Alberta Pedersen of Farmington, Minn.; and nine great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 9 until the 10 a.m. service today in the Chapel of the Waters of Park Point. Arrangements by Johnson Mortuary.
RUSSELL M. PELLINEN
Russell M. Pellinen, 79, of Duluth died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born in Duluth on Sept. 16, 1922, to Matt and Lillian Pellinen. Russell had worked as an accountant in Minneapolis until retirement.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his friends at Hillside Homes and his special friends, Jim and Kathleen Holmer.

MATT MARVIN LOKEN
Matt Marvin Loken, 69, of Duluth passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2001.
He was born May 1, 1932, in Minneapolis.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carol of Duluth; daughters Deb (John) Souza of Duluth and Diane Meissner of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; a sister, Jeanne Tomaszewski; a brother, Don Loken; and father-in-law, Robert Engman.

JERRY LEROY CLINE
Jerry Leroy Cline, 62, of East First Street, formerly of South Minneapolis, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, in his home.
He was born in Aitkin on April 4, 1939, to Rozell and Frances (Marmon) Cline. As a young child, Jerry moved to Duluth where he was raised. In the mid 1960s, he moved to Minneapolis, where he remained until returning to Duluth in 1996. Mr. Cline served in the National Guard from 1955 to 1961. He enjoyed sailboat watching, bike riding, old movies and crossword puzzles.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Christian Langseth.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Jeff) Cline Nelson of Duluth, and Michele Disch of Hermantown; a son, Doug Eisenach of Wisconsin; stepmother Julia Cline; brothers Richard Cline, Jack Cline, Tom (Wendy) Riley and John Riley; sisters Carol Keultjes and Patty (Lee) Wagner; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and always special in his heart were Margurette Cline and Bonnie Langseth Curtis.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Radisson Hotel, Mesabi Room. The family would like to thank all who have sent flowers. In lieu of additional flowers, memorials are preferred. Obituary submitted by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth.
Betty Ione McKee
Betty Ione McKee, 71, of Morris Thomas Road died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, in her home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1930, in North Dakota to Fred and Rachel (Eckerdt) Bucholz. Betty moved to Duluth in 1966 and to Hermantown in 1972. She was employed as an elementary school teacher, teaching in Lowell, MacArthur and Irving Elementary Schools until her retirement. Her husband, Ronald J. McKee, died in 1978.
Betty is survived by a son, Gregory (Phyllis) A. McKee of North Dakota; daughters Mary (Lance) Hurd of California, Nancy McKee of Minnesota, Patricia McKee and Cynthia McKee, both of Colorado; grandchildren Meghann, Matthew and Reagan.
May she now have the peace, love and happiness that she had provided to those she left behind.

Lillian Taimi Coffey
Lillian Taimi Coffey, 92, of Sixth Avenue, Proctor died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospice.
Lillian was born July 12, 1909, in Hibbing to Andrew Emil and Maria A. (Hill) Ollikkala. She had lived in Silverdale-Greaney area, Cloquet, and Elde's Corner, before moving to Proctor in 1942. Lillian was a member of the VFW Post 106 in Proctor.
Her husband, Cleophus, died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Andrew Coffey of Tampa, Fla.; daughters Beatrice (the Rev. Alan) Kitto and Iris (Jerry) Korhonen, both of Proctor; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
