Beatrice V. Benson, 88, died Thursday, July 12, 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Benson, and a grandson, John Benson, both of Madison, Wis.; a brother, Robert S. Johnsted Sr. of Superior; five nieces and nephews.
Friends may call: after 5 p.m. Monday in Downs Funeral Home. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Concordia Lutheran Church, Superior. Burial in Riverside cemetery, Superior.

Glenn H. Peterson
Glenn H. Peterson, 53, formerly of East County Road V died Thursday, July 12, 2001.
Survivors include a brother, Carl (Linda) Peterson of South Range; nieces and a nephew and grandnieces and a grandnephew; and special friends the Don and Debbie Wermter family and the Randy and Mary Windsor family.
Visitation: 1:30 until the 2:30 p.m. memorial service Monday in Downs Funeral Home. Inurnment in Hawthorne cemetery. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society.

James R. Lindberg
James R. Lindberg, 48, of Elm Avenue, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his residence.
He was born March 10, 1953, in Superior and was a lifelong city resident.

Mr. Lindberg had been employed as a chemist and lab supervisor by the city of Superior's Wastewater Treatment Facility.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Nemadji Men's Club, Wednesday Golf League at Nemadji, the Tuesday Tavern Bowling League at Landmark Lanes and was a kind and gentle man.

An avid golfer, he enjoyed bowling, watching the Green Bay Packers play and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Lindberg; and his grandparents.

Surviving are his wife, Carol A. (Church); his mother, Doris Lindberg, Superior; sisters Jolayne Lindberg, Oconomowoc, Wis., and Barbara (Dan) Little, Goleta, Calif.; his godparents/uncle and aunt, Roland and Theresa Stordahl, Superior; a brother-in-law, Marvin Church, Clear Lake, Wis.; one nephew; two nieces; and cousins.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Downs Funeral Home and continues from noon until the 1 p.m. service Monday in Bethel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Gary Garnatz officiating. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Bernelle LaBounty
Bernelle LaBounty, 79, of Superior died Monday, July 9, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospital in Superior.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; sons Bill (Beckie) and Bob (Viola); daughters Bernelle "Bunni" (Mark) Haslerud and Ruthanne (Jon) Amundson; grandchildren Emma, Michael, Shauna, Jessica, Patrick, Randi, Justin, Lindsey and Ashley; great-granddaughter Kaylee; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Marian Budnick.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service today in Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home.

Bradley "Brad" Wendell Anderson
Bradley "Brad" Wendell Anderson, 46, of Minneapolis, formerly of Superior, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa; sons Bradley F. and Robert; daughters Elizabeth (Bernard) McManus and Margaret of Superior; his father; his mother; a brother; two sisters; a half-brother; three stepsisters; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation: 9:30 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday in Downs Funeral Home, Pastor David Eckman officiating.

Beatrice Violet LePage
Beatrice Violet LePage, 83, of South Range died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Gerard; sons Jerry, Douglas (Mary) and Roger (Sue); a granddaughter; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and a sister.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today in Downs Funeral Home Chapel. Service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in South Range Presbyterian Church. Committal prayers at Greenwood cemetery. Downs Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

LUCILLE E. JACKSINO
Lucille E. Jacksino, 81, of New York Avenue died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in St. Francis Health Care Facility.
Lucille was born in Hawthorne on Nov. 13, 1919, to John H. and Elsie (Hass) Johnson and was a graduate of Central High School in Superior. She was a homemaker, a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar, the Ruth Circle of the church and Hillcrest Ladies Aid in Hawthorne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Johnson in 1994.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Tony Jacksino of Superior; daughters Jeanne McKenzie of Duluth and Bette Rookey of Solon Springs; sisters Elaine Oleas of Salinas, Calif., Betty Anderson of Superior and Darlene Hudacek of San Diego; granddaughters Michelle (Jason Gillem) McKenzie of Rogers, Minn., Christine McKenzie of Las Vegas, Karen Edwards of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jennifer (Gomin) Beyer of New Port Beach, Calif.; and a great-grandson, Zachary Gillem of Rogers.

Visitation: 5:30-8 p.m. today in Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home. Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Peace Lutheran Church, Poplar, the Rev. Greg Gullickstrud officiating. Interment in Parkview cemetery, Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Peace Lutheran Church.

ROY D. KITCH
Roy D. Kitch, 97, of Superior died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He is survived by a son, Gale Kitch; a sister, Hazel Jennings; a nephew, Dean Jennings; grandsons Keith (Laura) and Kevin Kitch; a granddaughter, Kelly Kitch; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday in Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.

HELENE V. LESYNSKI
Helene V. Lesynski, 94, a longtime Superior resident, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
Helene was born Jan. 1, 1907, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Helen M. (Pinkowski) and Alex Leszcynski. She graduated from UWS. She taught middle school students for 44 years, 29 of which were in Cudahy Public School District, retiring in 1972.

Helene was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was also a member of Superior and Wisconsin Area Retired Educator Association; a life member of Superior Women's Club; a volunteer at Fairlawn Museum Auxiliary, honorary member of Douglas County Historical Society; an affiliate member of State Historical Society of Wisconsin; a longtime member of St. Mary's Hospital of Superior Auxiliary, where she was honored with a 10,000 hour pin; the longest active member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program; Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1190; Delta Kappa Gamma (Honorary Teachers Association); UWS Alumni foundation; AARP; and the Salvation Army. She was named Douglas County Citizen of the Year in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Helen Leszcyski; and brothers Joseph, Stanley, Stephen, Alex and Theodore.

She is survived by her brother, Casimir (Arlene) Leszcynski of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters-in-law Margaret Leszcynski of Superior, Irene Leszcynski of Eau Claire, Wis., and Lizzie Leszcynski of Stillwater, Minn.; her aunt, Anna (Pinkowski) Mastrian of Superior; nieces Pamela Brooks of Webster, Mass., Melody Dill of Mequon, Wis., Pepper Dugdale of Cascade, Colo., and Kathleen Linehan of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; and cousins Anthony Leszcynski of Superior, Vincent Leszcynski of Virginia State, and Albert Pinkowski of Florida.
Visitation: 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Daniel Dahlberg officiating. Burial in Calvary cemetery. If friends so desire, memorials may be made to Cathedral Preservation Project. Arrangements by William Downs-LeSage Funeral Home.

Charles Michael "Mike" Riggle
Charles Michael "Mike" Riggle, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; son Frank (Becky); daughter Ann (John) Lamoureux; and son John (Viola); 10 grandchildren; a brother; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers, who will dearly miss him.
Reviewal: 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service Saturday in Downs Funeral Home, Superior. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.

Irene D. Haynes
Irene D. Haynes, 91, formerly of Superior died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Antigo, Wis.
Survivors include daughters Helen (Dan) McNamara and Patty (Mike) Hagen; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 9 until the 10 a.m. memorial Mass Saturday in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements by William Downs-LeSage Funeral Home.

Wilson John Williams
Wilson John Williams, 90, of Alamo, Texas, formerly of Superior, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Edinburg, Texas.
He was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Superior. He married Marcella Smrekar in 1934. He worked for the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway as a trainmaster, retiring in 1973 after more than 30 years of service. He and his first wife wintered in Alamo for 10 years following retirement and he and his second wife moved there permanently in the mid-80s.

He was an avid golfer, bowler and played banjo in numerous bands over the years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella, and sons Douglas and Richard, "Dick."

Survivors include his second wife, Eleanor of Alamo; a son, Gerald "Jerry" (Linda) Williams of Superior; five grandsons, four granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, nine step grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; an aunt, Harriet Foerst of Luck, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, Superior. Inurnment in St. Francis cemetery, Superior.
