Jean A. Brodin, 97, of Eveleth died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Arrowhead Health Care Center, Virginia.
She is survived by daughters Jeanette Klander and Darlene (Clayton), both of Eveleth; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Lundstrom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia. Burial in Eveleth Cemtery.

Anne Wauzynski
Anne Wauzynski, 73, of Hibbing died Saturday, 14, 2001, in the University Medical Center-Mesabi.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; sons David Sr. and Michael; a daughter, Donna Wauzynski; two brothers; three sisters; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today with 7:30 p.m. wake prayers and 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. The Rev. Father Peter Muhich officiating. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.

Barbara Elaine Crouley
Barbara Elaine Crouley, 66, of Keewatin died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in her home.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Jeff) Anzelc, Patty (Terry) Borgman, Barb (Ron) Johnson and Linda (Dale) Werth; her mother, Marie Dorgan; four sisters; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. The Rev. Ronald Gagne officiating. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery, Hibbing.

Roland "Ron" Husom
Roland "Ron" Husom, 55, of Cloquet, formerly of Tri-Cities, Wash., passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2001.
He was born June 26, 1945, in Duluth. Ron graduated from Carlton High School and received a degree from Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash. He served in the navy. He worked as a carpenter in Hanford, Wash., and was most recently employed by Laser Vision Centers Inc., performing multiple duties for the company.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Husom, and mother, Clara Baker.

He is survived by his children, Justin Husom of Richland, Wash., and Melissa (Rick) Leone of Cloquet; fiancee Mary Kirk, in their hearts they were husband and wife; and Mary's children, Scott, Jason, Matthew, Tiffany, Camerin and Garret; Ron's grandchildren Shayla, Jenna and Jeb; brothers and sisters, Fred "Ricky" (Pam) Husom of Aitkin, Jerry, Merlin, and Shirley Chell, all of Carlton; and two nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today and 1 until the 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Barr Brother-Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Avenue, Cloquet. Private family interment. Pallbearers will be Justin Husom, Lauren Newsum, Brad Grover, Fern Mead, Dan Peterson, Rick Leone, Rick Husom, and Tiffany Kirk. Military honors will be accorded by the Cloquet/Carlton Combined Honor Guard. The Reverend Dennis Morreim will officiate. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.

Kathleen "Keen" Lanigan
Ryan
Kathleen "Keen" Lanigan Ryan, 79, of Grand Rapids, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
She was born in Chicago and graduated from Trinity High School in 1939, and Rosary College, River Forest, Ill., in 1943. She was one of the first female managers at Chicago Title and Trust.

She married Edward C. Ryan of Hibbing, on May 5, 1945, in Chicago. She moved to Grand Rapids in 1947 and lived there most of her adult life. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, devoting much of her time to Eucharistic ministry and service as a lector. She was also an active member of the Society of St. Francis de Sales.

She served on the Itasca Medical Center Foundation Board and the St. Joseph's School Endowment Board, volunteered for the United Way and served on the St. Scholastica Parent Advisory Council. She was also a longtime member of the American Association of University Women.

Much of her joy in life came from raising her eight children and adoring her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, Kathryn and Leo Lanigan; her brother, Richard; and a granddaughter, Kacie Fabeck.

She is survived by three daughters, Ann Kathryn Ryan of Minneapolis, Mary Patricia (Daniel) Fabeck of Circle Pines, Minn., and Kathleen (David) Chesness of Grand Rapids; five sons, Thomas (Debra) of Minnetrista, Minn., Richard of Lakewood, Colo., William (Carol) of Bloomington, Minn., Robert (Kristin) of Duluth, and Michael (Susan Trabucchi) of Portland, Maine; 16 grandchildren; one brother, Leo Lanigan of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Jean Ryan Rothstein of Grand Rapids; two brothers-in-law, Francis (Clarice) Ryan and Russell (Buddie) Ryan, both of Hibbing; and many devoted friends.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. today, with wake prayer service at 6 p.m. in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids. Rev. Fr. Thomas Radaich will officiate. Burial in Itasca-Calvary cemetery, Grand Rapids. Memorials are requested for the St. Joseph's Church Building Fund and the Itasca Medical Center Foundation.

Pearl Lila Lind
Pearl L. Lind, 83, of Two Harbors died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in the Sunrise Home, Two Harbors.
She was born Aug. 3, 1917, to Wayne and Edith (Rautio) Hill in Soudan. She attended school in Soudan and Ely and moved to Castle Danger at age 17.

She worked at Castle Danger Resort Store when the Civilian Conservation Corps built Gooseberry State Park. She married Roy in 1941. She was a very hard-working person, dedicated to her family, who raised 10 children in rustic conditions. The family moved to Two Harbors in 1955, where she spent her remaining years working and attending to her interests in her family and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy in 1980; a son, Merlen Lind in 1968; a daughter, Susan Oney in 1990; and a brother, Leslie Hill.

She is survived by sons LeRoger, Russell (Christine), Ronald, Warren (Maxene) and Michael, all of Two Harbors; daughters Joan (David) Granger of Severn, Md., Donna Nelson of Two Harbors and Diane Lind of St. Paul; sisters Margie Iseli and Waynetta "Winnie" Gibbs, both of Kingman, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Two Harbors. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

Irene E. Laine
Irene E. Laine, 76, of Aitkin died Saturday, April 21, 2001, in the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service Saturday in the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin. Arrangements by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.
Frank J. Orazem
Frank J. Orazem, 93, of Eveleth died Saturday, April 21, 2001, in Arrowhead Health Care Center, Eveleth.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Krize of Eveleth and Janet (George) Kovich of Duluth; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10:30 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Resurrection Catholic Church, Eveleth. Burial in Eveleth cemetery.

Margaret Stevens Chilton
Margaret Stevens Chilton, 80, died Monday, April 23, 2001, after a long illness, in the Itasca Nursing Home, Grand Rapids.
Margaret was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Seattle, Wash., to Harry and Allie Stevens. She attended school in Sand Point, Idaho, and Crookston, Minn., where she graduated in 1939. She graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College with a degree in education and art. She taught school in Alexandria, Minn.; Dearborn, Mich; and much later in Goodland and Keewatin, Minn.

She married Dan R. Chilton in Christ's Episcopal Church, Crookston, on Sept. 4, 1948. They made their home in Deerwood, Minn.; Belo Horizonte, Brazil; and Pengilly, Minn. She was an artist and a published author. She had a great love for the outdoors, enjoying camping, swimming, canoeing and travel of all sorts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David; and her sister, Beryl Barstad.

She is survived by her husband, Dan, of Pengilly; son Guy, of Cascade Locks, Ore.; daughter Catherine Chilton-Werner of Fargo, N.D.; brother Robert Stevens of Seattle, Wash.; and granddaughters Hallie and Iris Chilton and Adrienne Werner.
Memorial service: day and time will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.

Jane J. Maslowski
Jane J. (Stupyra) Maslowski, 84, of Carlton died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in the Carlton Nursing Home.
She was born March 30, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., to John and Mary (Blazejewski) Stupyra. Jane was united in marriage to Emil Maslowski Nov. 30, 1946, in Detroit. They moved to Duluth in 1960 when they purchased the Riverview Motel. In the early 1980s, they moved to the Wrenshall/Carlton area. Jane was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Alex Stupyra.

She is survived by a brother, Adam (Ann) Stupyra of Garden City, Mich.; sisters Lillian (Mackey) Bojarski of Dearborn, Mich., Virginia Rochowiak of Pinckney, Mich., and Delphine (Marion) Kujawa of Livonia, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. recitation of the rosary in Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral mass Wednesday in St. Francis Catholic Church, Carlton. Interment in New Calvary cemetery, Cloquet. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.

Thomas Laurila
Thomas Laurila, 79, of Virginia, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in Virginia Regional Medical Center
Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia.
Katherine Anderson
Katherine Anderson, 49, formerly of South St. Paul died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in her home in Esko, after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
She was born in Superior to Edmond and Lillian Anderson. Katherine graduated from South St. Paul High School, and she received her teaching certificate from the College of St. Scholastica. She also graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth. While there, she was a member of the Delta Chi Omega sorority. She taught at many area schools, including Denfeld, Morgan Park, Barnum, Meadowlands and Duluth Central.

Katherine was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Esko.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Edmond.

Survivors include her husband, Steve of Esko; a son, Nathan; her mother, Lillian of South St. Paul; a brother, Richard (Karen) Zawcki of Eden Prairie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Esko. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.
