George S. Fazekas Sr.
George S. Fazekas Sr., 67, of Sturgeon Lake died Friday, April 27, 2001, in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Bev; children Helen Ann (Tim) Hall, Georgia Jean Graham, Lynn (Jim) Michels; Kim (Paul) Nolan and George Jr. (Cheryl); four grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gathering of family and friends 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Tuesday in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

George Frederick Hill
George Frederick Hill, 85, of Brookston died Sunday, April 29, 2001, in the Cloquet Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 11, 1915, to John and Abigail (Marshall) Hill in Gordon, Wis. George was an Army veteran serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a construction foreman in the Army, taking part in the building of Burma Road. He also was a construction superintendent for the Superwood Corp. for 30 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Rita (Bill) Ahlers of Duluth, and his longtime companion, Phyllis Ross of Duluth.
No services will be held at George's request. Arrangements by Crawford Funeral Service.

Joseph Steven Lang
Joseph Steven Lang, 89, of Virginia died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in the Virginia Regional Medical Center.
Joseph was born March 18, 1912, to Stephen and Mary (Walner) Lang in Albany, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Holdingford. Joseph moved to northeastern Minnesota to attend Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Britt, where he met his wife Katherine Spolar. He had been a resident of Virginia since his marriage in 1938. He worked as a maintenance mechanic and retired from the Erie Mining Co. in 1976.

He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and his summer home on Lake Vermilion. He took daily walks with his dog, Brandy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine in 1995; a son, Joseph G. Lang; a sister, Mamie Lysher; a brother, Bert Lang; and his parents.

Joseph was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who will be dearly missed by his survivors who include, daughters Janice M. (Charles) Elliott of Lake Vermilion, Mary C. (Robert) Meyer of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Christine Lang of Champlin, Minn; sons Robert S. of Edina, Minn., and John J. of Virginia; a sister, Leonissa Bordeau of San Diego, Calif.; granddaughters, Kristi Nelson, Jane Dorau, Shari Mason and Kara Meyer; grandsons Mark and Peter Elliott, Joseph Lang and Craig Meyer; six great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Virginia. The Rev. Father John O'Donnell as celebrant. Burial in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements by the Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

Leslie Frank Bertram
Leslie Frank Bertram, 76, of Cohasset died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in the Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, to Peter and Edna Bertram in Bemidji, where he grew up and attended schools.

Leslie served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946 on the USS Eisner, DE 192, sailing from the North Atlantic to the South Pacific. Following his discharge from the Navy, he worked for the Soo Line Railroad as a telegrapher and then later for the Blandin Paper Co., in Grand Rapids from 1963 until his retirement in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mabel Lounsberry, Hazel Cucuzza and Ruby Alm.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Renee Anduze of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; sons Michael and Ronald, both of Grand Rapids; stepdaughters Nenita Wright of Lynden, Wash., Anita Drew of Mandeville, La., Kay Watson of Chanhassen, Minn., and Susan Kirchner and Bonnie Hilts, both of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. wake prayer service in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, the Rev. Father Thomas Radaich officiating. Burial in Wildwood cemetery, Cohasset.

Shawn J. Guinn
Shawn J. Guinn, 24, of Cass Lake died Monday, March 12, 2001, in Cass Lake.
Visitation: after 5 p.m. today and service 10 a.m. Thursday in Inger Community Center. Burial in Inger cemetery. Arrangements by Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River.

Mack C. Blomquist
Mack C. Blomquist, 77, of Grand Rapids died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids.
He is survived by sons Terry (Sigrid), Richard (Millie Ross) and David; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Burial of cremated remains in Harris cemetery, Harris Township, Minn.

Louis P. Hansen
Louis P. Hansen, 85, of Grand Rapids died Sunday, March 11, 2001, of a massive stroke at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Libbey Funeral Home Chapel and 1 until the 2 p.m. service Friday in Grace Bible Chapel, Grand Rapids. Burial with military honors in Itasca-Calvary cemetery. Arrangements by Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, (218) 326-4000.

Anna "Anne" M. Krantz
Anna "Anne" M. Krantz, 87, of Cook died Saturday, March 10, 2001, in Arrowhead Health Care Center, Virginia.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie (Joseph D.) Vaida of McKinley; a sister-in-law, Rose Martz of Virginia; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. mass of Christian burial Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cook the Rev. Larry Antus, O.M.I., as celebrant. Spring interment in Cook Community cemetery. Arrangements by Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook.

Beverly J. Widstrand
Beverly J. Widstrand, 52, of Aurora died Monday, March 12, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Rolf; a daughter, Ellen Widstrand; her mother, Joanne Olson; a sister; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Aurora and noon until the 1 p.m. service Friday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Palo. Burial in Forest Hill cemetery, Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Girls Scouts of America.

Nanette Bee
Nanette Bee, 74, of Eugene, Ore., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; a son, Dennis; a daughter, Debee Brown; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Feb. 24 in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Velma E. Boedigheimer
Velma E. Boedigheimer, 79, of Cloquet died Monday, March 12, 2001, in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for five years.
She was born in South St. Louis County Jan. 16, 1922, to Frank and Hilma Hill. Velma was united in marriage to Vernon Boedigheimer Sept. 12, 1942, in Cloquet. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Velma also loved flowers, gardening, spending time in the cabin at Tamarack Lake and playing the harmonica. Velma has gone to be with her first-born daughter, Laverne, whom she has dearly missed for 55 years.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Laverne; a brother, Willard; and sisters Lillian and Elsie.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; sons Vernon "Pete" Jr. (Jennie) of Cloquet, Craig (Jeanette) of Carlton and Kevin (Ruth) of Cloquet; a brother, Frank (Eleanor) Barrett of Bellevue, Neb.; a sister, Helen Johnson of Cloquet; grandchildren Lisa (Jamie) Bushey, Sarah, Jeff, Jaime, Leah and Isaac Boedigheimer; and great-grandchildren Jacob, Jeremy and Joshua Bushey.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today with 7 p.m. rosary recitation led by Bob Beaupre in Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet. Private family service will be held Thursday in the funeral home, the Rev. Father Michael Hayes officiating. Music provided by Tom Cawcutt. Pallbearers will be Jeff Boedigheimer, Scott Boedigheimer, Cecil Boedigheimer, Dennis Johnson, Tony Boedigheimer and Steve McCuskey. Interment in Old Calvary cemetery, Cloquet. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.

Francis "Fritz" VonderHaar
Francis "Fritz" VonderHaar, 86, of Hibbing died Saturday, March 10, 2001, in California.
He was born in Stetsonville, Wis., to Adolph and Anna (Langer) VonderHaar on April 26, 1914. He was a lieutenant in the Army during World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Fritz was a member of the Knights of Columbus-4th Degree, American Legion Post 222, VFW Post 8510, Hibbing Rotary, Hibbing Moose Club and Mesaba Country Club. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge and Minnesota Bowling Proprietors Association. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou in 1997; daughters Janice and Marlene; two sisters; and three brothers.

Fritz is survived by sons Fran (Kris), Phil (Karen Koprivec), Keith (Linda Perpich) and Kevin, all of Hibbing, and Mark of Laguna Beach, Calif.; daughters Ann (Joe) Christy of Crystal, Minn., Joanne (Dale) LaFollette of Longmont, Colo., and Janet (Joe) Vaccari of Craig, Colo.; a brother, Raymond (Shirley) of Alexandria, Minn.; a sister, Barbara Ann (Donald) Dessin of Bloomington, Minn.; his special friend and caregiver, Harriet Hams; and 15 grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Rev. Paul Larson as celebrant. Spring interment in Maple Hill cemetery. His grandchildren will act as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the World War II Veteran's Memorial, Hibbing Little League or Northstar Hospice. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.

Don R. Lindberg
Don R. Lindberg, 76, of Hibbing died Monday, March 12, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons Tom (Sue) and Bruce; a daughter-in-law, Corrine Lindberg (Larry Lennard); a brother, Dale (Elinor); a sister, Maylyn (Claude) Gilbo; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.
