Oscar E. Lahti
Oscar E. Lahti, 90, of Biwabik died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in White Community Hospital and Nursing Home in Aurora.
He was born Sept. 10, 1910, to William and Ida (Saari) Lahti in Biwabik. He was a World War II veteran serving with the 8th Air Force stationed in England. On July 12, 1945, he married Lila Rauma in Biwabik, where they made their home. He worked as a carpenter and mechanic for I.R.E.C.O. Blasting Co. of Biwabik, retiring in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Lila Lahti of Biwabik; a son, Robert (Ethel) Lahti of Duluth; a daughter, Karen (Thomas) DeTuncq of Ham Lake, Minn.; brothers Alfred (Eleanor) Lahti of Mankato, Minn., and Walter Lahti of Lakeland, Minn.; sisters Martha (Robert) Hansen of St. Paul, Lillian (William) Smith of Parkville, Minn., and Helvi Ross of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Saturday in Community United Church of Christ, Biwabik, the Rev. Susan Faunce-Zimmerman officiating. Burial in Lakeside cemetery, Biwabik. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Virginia.

Daniel J. Nagorski
Daniel J. Nagorski, 82, of Cloquet passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Cloquet Convalescent Care.
A complete obituary will be in Saturday's newspaper. Arrangements by Barr Brothers Funeral Home, Cloquet, 879-4636.

Mildred L. Myers
Mildred L. Myers, 92, of Remer died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She is survived by daughters Delores Myers and Bette Person; sons Kenneth, Robert and Darwin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday in Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Remer. Burial in Fairview cemetery, Remer. Arrangements by Rowe Funeral Home, Remer and Grand Rapids.

Ailie A. Leppanen
Ailie A. Leppanen, 74, of Virginia, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in the Virginia Convalescent Center.
She is survived by her sister, Signe Junnila of Milaca, Minn.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral services Saturday in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, Virginia. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Virginia. Arrangements are by Range Funeral Home.

Joseph Chamernick
Joseph Chamernick, 72, of Side Lake, Minn., died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1928, in North Hibbing to Joseph and Katherine Chamernick. He had worked in National Steel as a foreman in the concentrator and also was a former union officer for the United Steelworkers of America. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Lions Club and the Hanna Retired Employees. He had been a former supervisor for the Town of Stuntz and was a co-founder of the A.E.O.A. Chapter in Hibbing. He loved family gatherings, polkas, gardening, four-wheeling, living on the lake and his computer.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie Ann Chamernick; and a granddaughter, Christina Cianni.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters Kathleen (Robert) Stirewalt, Linda (Dan) Anderson and Janet (Albert) McKibbon, all of Hibbing, Lisa (Scott) Petrangelo of St. Louis, Mo., Rebecca (Ward) Smilanich of Chisholm and Marie (Jeffrey) Hakala of Hibbing; a son, Joe of Hibbing; brothers Frank (Marilyn) and John (Darlene), both of Hibbing, William (Charlene) of Chisago City, Minn., Mathew (Tammy) of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Edward (Sharon) of Hibbing; sisters Mary Ann (Tracy) Phillips of Lynwood, Wash., and Kathleen (John) Debevic of Bukner, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. Rosary recitation by Knights of Columbus in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Visitation continues 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Hibbing, the Rev. Peter Muhich as celebrant. Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Brian Petrangelo, Ryan and Shannon Anderson, Jamie and Eric McKibbon, Carly Chamernick, and Jeremy and Jesse Stirewalt.

AnnaRae Leathers
AnnaRae Leathers, 64, of Buhl died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in the University Medical Center-Mesabi.
She is survived by a son, John (Arlene) Hocking; a brother, Rudolph (Elberta) Christenson; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Buhl. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery. Memorials preferred to the American Heart and Lung Association. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.

Dorothy Lenore Bolander
Dorothy Lenore Bolander, 88, of Cloquet died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in Cloquet Nursing Home.
She was born in Blackhoof Valley May 11, 1913, the eldest of five children of Lage and Flossy Olson. She was educated in Blackhoof Valley School. Dorothy met and married Drew Bolander in 1934. After a brief time in Cloquet they farmed in Blackhoof, Minn., where they farmed until retirement in 1967, returning to Cloquet.

Dorothy's main interest was caring for her family. Her other hobbies were photography, sewing, gardening and genealogy. She left several volumes of family history and many hand-sewn quilts as treasured gifts for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Drew in 1971; her daughter, Ardell Reed; her son, Bernie; her parents, Lage and Flossy Olson; her brother, Vernon in childhood; her sister, Vivian; and her grandsons, Paul Beard, Jerry Bolander and Tim Reed.

She is survived by her children, Marlene (Dick) Beard of Kenora, Ontario, Betty (Cliff) Linder and Karen (Mike) Bolander, of Duluth; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn (Lawrence) Tischer of Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Merle (Eileen) Olson of DeLeon Springs, Fla.; and their families.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today and from noon until the 2 p.m. service Tuesday in Wefelmeyer-Handevidt Funeral Home, 1506 Washington Ave., Cloquet, (218) 879-6741. Interment will follow at Sandy Lake cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Elim Lutheran Church of Blackhoof, 2077 Co. Road 6, Barnum, MN 55707.

Pearl M. Nordin
Pearl M. Nordin, 80, of Alborn died Friday, July 6, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 14, 1920, to Walfred and Axeline (Johnson) Mell in Rush City. She married Emil A. Nordin. Pearl was a cook at St. Ann's Home and then at University of Minnesota Duluth, from which she retired. She was a member of Meadowlands Senior Citizens and VFW Women's Auxiliary 3044. She was Alborn town clerk for many years. Pearl enjoyed keeping up her lawn and flower gardens, spending time with family and friends and looking for an excuse to cook for everyone. She especially enjoyed her little dog, Tupper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil; four brothers and two sisters.

Pearl is survived by her children, Bruce (Joan), Tim (Jeannine) and Terry (Joan); eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Helen) Mell of Virginia; sisters Marian (Edwin) Lahti of Toivola and Marjorie Hartop of Twig.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service today in Wefelmeyer Funeral Home, 1506 Washington Ave., Cloquet, 879-6741. Private family interment in Spruce Hill, Alborn. Officiating will be the Rev. Rolland Bockbrader.

Eunice Martha McCue
Eunice Martha McCue, 88, of Schroeder died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Lake View Home, Two Harbors.
She was born July 18, 1912, to Timothy Vincent and Del Irene (Allie) McCue in St. Paul, where she grew up and later worked as a clerk for the St. Paul Companies. After retiring, she moved to the North Shore. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Silver Bay.

She is survived by a sister, Nedra Paschen of Schroeder and other relatives.
Memorial Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Silver Bay. Burial in Schroeder cemetery. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

John T. Cline
John T. Cline, 11, of Minnesota Lake, Minn., died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Aitkin.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Wednesday in Aitkin United Church of Christ. Arrangements by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.

Isaiah Thomas Carlson
Isaiah Thomas Carlson, infant twin son of Joe and Hatti Carlson of International Falls, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2001.
Besides his parents he is survived by his grandparents, Tom and Cheryl Carlson, and Nancy Christiansen; his brother, Colton Carlson; and his twin brother, Jeremiah Carlson.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Thursday in Ray Northwoods Bible Church. Burial in Ray cemetery, Ray, Minn. Arrangements by Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc., of International Falls.

Laura F. Lisowski
Laura F. Lisowski, 80, formerly of Elephant Lake, Orr, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at her home in Embarrass.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Thursday in the Range Funeral Home, Virginia. Burial in Calvary cemetery, Virginia.

Steven Wayne Liupakka
Steven Wayne Liupakka, 50, of Cloquet died Friday, June 29, 2001, in Community Memorial Nursing Home, Cloquet.
He was born July 18, 1950, in Cloquet to Robert and Arlene (Palo) Liupakka. Steven was an Army veteran, serving in Korea and Germany. He farmed and logged most of his life. In the early 1980s, he lived in Kansas City, Mo., where he worked in catering. Most recently, Steve worked at Woodland Foods in Carlton. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Liupakka.

Steve is survived by sons Thomas Fagre and Timothy Fagre, both of Cloquet; his mother, Arlene Liupakka of Cloquet; brothers Robert, Scott and Jerry, all of Cloquet; and sisters Denise Wigg of Gary-New Duluth and Michelle (LeRoy) DeFoe of Cloquet.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Military honors accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Burial in Fort Snelling National cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
