Margaret Hattstad
Margaret Hattstad, born Gudney Margaret Hofteig, to Stephen S. and Gudney Matthildour (Westdal) Hofteig, May 2, 1909 completed her full life March 20, 2009.

Margaret was born, baptized and spent much of her youth in Westerheim Township and Minneota, MN.

Margaret lost her mother (Mattie) to TB at the age of 3 ½ years. Her early years were with her father, Stephen, and step-mother Margaret (Benson) Hofteig, sometimes living in Manitoba, Canada. Many of Margaret’s adolescent years were spent in the loving home of John and Margaret Isfeld, her Aunt and Uncle. Margaret graduated from Minneota High School in 1926 and studied business courses in Mankato.

August 25, 1938 she and Theodor Hattstad (a Norwegian immigrant) were married and would be together for the next 40 years. Ted lost his life to cancer in 1978. Their first home was in Minneapolis. In 1946 they moved to Spring Lake, MN. “Ted’s Farm” was featured in the local paper, his quote was, “He had the best Democratic Soil”. In later years Margaret lived at Riverwood Village in Cambridge, Brask Haven in Spring Lake and finally at Grace Point Crossing West in Cambridge.

Margaret enjoyed a life of service to the Cambridge State Hospital for 25 years. After her retirement she cheerfully gave her time to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Welcome Wagon Club, Mom’s Co-op, the Spring Lake Lutheran Church and Choir (until age 91), Laubach Reading Program, Hekla Icelandic Women’s Club, and taught her friends to bake bread. She was fluent in Icelandic, Norwegian and English. Margaret enjoyed making friends wherever she lived or traveled, she will be missed by so many.

Margaret enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, sewing, gardening, exercising, and being with family and friends. She loved language and teaching others correct pronunciation. She enjoyed her travels to Iceland, Norway, and Canada.

Margaret is reunited with her husband Theodor, her parents, her brothers, Stephen, Haldor & Bjorn, her sisters, Tavia, Louise & Sylvia, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Margaret will be remembered and missed by her brother Ferdinand Hofteig of Winnipeg, Manitoba, many nieces and nephews, Susan (Hofteig) & Dennis Ehn of North Branch, Mary Jo (Hofteig) & Nick Taylor of North Branch, Dr. John Hofteig of Chicago, Lauren & Gay Hofteig of Mound, and her special friend Ted Bouchard of North Branch.

Margaret was a fiercely “Independent Woman”, and a “Proud Icelander” and our family’s “Energizer Bunny”. Margaret was a role model of overcoming life’s challenges and of aging graciously.

Jennie Hanson
Jennie J. (Weidenaar) Hanson of Cambridge, peacefully made her way home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing East. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Springvale Baptist Church, Stanchfield, MN. Jennie was born to William and Grace (Seibenga) Weidenaar on February 27, 1926, in Greenbush Township, Milaca, MN. She was the youngest of 10 children. Jennie married Howard W. Hanson on February 12, 1944 at the Weidenaar Homestead in Lewis Lake Township. To this union 8 children were born. Jennie devoted most of her life as a loving, caring mother. Jennie taught Sunday school for many years. She attended Bible study with her friends, loved playing bingo at Ashland Place and playing cards and dice. She enjoyed celebrating her birthday and opening gifts with her family. She loved having visitors, singing hymns, getting her hair done, and eating fresh walleye caught by her boys.

One of Jennie’s highlights while living at Haven House was when she was crowned Queen.

She will be remembered as a “ray of sunshine” to all of those she came in contact with. She dearly loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace; husband, Howard; sisters, Minnie Folkema, Bertha Bahlman, Hattie Akkerman, Lucy Weidenaar, Lena Stenstrom, and Anna Osterdyk; brother, John Weidenaar; son-in-law Daniel Gray; daughter-in-law, Elna Hanson; grandchildren, Kevin and Loren Lee Mattson, infant baby Gray; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

Jennie is survived by children, Roger Hanson of Mora, Joan (Jim) Kunza of Cambridge, Janice (Loren) Mattson of Onamia, Judy Gray of Buckman, Howard (Vicki) Hanson, Jr. of Pine City, Henry Hanson of Stanchfield, Bob (Cris) Hanson of Cambridge and Alan (Dawn) Hanson of Stanchfield; 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; brother, Elkie Weidenaar of Braham; sister, Grace (Wes) Lundeen of Cambridge and brother-in-law & sister-in-law R. Stewart and Allene Coleman of Stanchfield.

Cory Bergloff
Cory J. Bergloff, 24, of Elkton, South Dakota and formerly of Cambridge, MN died in a car accident on Sunday, September 28, 2014 near Elkton.

Cory John Bergloff was born on May 28, 1990 in Cambridge, Minnesota to John and Carla (Holt) Bergloff. He was baptized and confirmed at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Cory attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High School in 2009. After high school he would move to South Dakota and began working at the Larson Door Company in Brookings and was still presently working there.

He loved to hunt, trap and fish. Spending time with his family and friends was something Cory thoroughly enjoyed. Friends and family were very important to him, especially the Edblad family and Pat Rehbein who were a very instrumental part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Joyce Holt.

Cory is survived by his son Klayton Thompson of Oak Creek, WI, parents John and Carla Bergloff of Cambridge, brothers Christopher Bergloff of Cambridge, Paul Bergloff of Brookings, SD, Grant Bergloff of Cambridge, grandparents Doug & Marilyn Bergloff of Cambridge, and Don & Joan Reed of Buffalo, MN, many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends..

Tim Potrament
Tim Michael Potrament was born March 26, 1965 and passed away on September 30, 2014 surrounded by his family.

In 1983 he graduated from Braham Area High School where he enjoyed playing baseball. His love for the game carried through to his over 35 softball league. He also had a passion for golf, four wheeling, snowmobiling, bowling, and was an avid outdoors man.

Tim married his loving wife Betsy in 1995 and together they had two daughters, Josie and Hattie. He was a very proud and devoted father, who loved watching and supporting his girls in any activity they took part in. As a family they enjoyed going on trips together to places such as San Diego, Mexico and their yearly trip to Madeline Island, which was Tim's happy place.

He was a retired Cambridge firefighter, after 17 years of service to the community he stayed close with all his colleagues and continued to host the Cambridge Fire Department's annual Christmas party.

For over 20 years Tim was very proud to be a commercial roofer for Roof Tech and a member of the roofer 96 union. He was a very hard worker and when it came to fixing things he was the modern day MacGyver.

When he wasn’t working or supporting his daughters he could be found out in the pole shed where family and friends would stop by and watch the array of sporting events that were on his big screen TV, and socialize, have a few laughs and enjoy each other’s company.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother Myrtle Faye Potrament and mother-in-law Beverly Herrnberger.

He is survived by his wife Betsy (Herrnberger), daughters Josie and Hattie of Cambridge, and Amalia (Anthony) Gruman-Laird of Robbinsdale, father Thomas Potrament of Braham, brothers TJ (Kelley) of Stacy, Terry (Kathy) of Braham, Todd (Kathy) from Cambridge, In-laws Max Herrnberger of Cambridge, Maggie (Mark) Manzke of Clear Lake, Robert Nelson of Cambridge, Max (Shauna) Herrnberger of Minnetonka, nieces Jenny (Zach), Erin (Jesse), Sara, Amanda, Ariel, Ali, and Sam, nephews Eric, Matthew, Brandon, Ben, and Max. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and coworkers.

Annie Lemieux-Betlach
Annie Rose Lemieux-Betlach, 27, of Stacy died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Newport, Minnesota.

She was born on March 22, 1986 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edward and Debrah (Lillard) Lemieux. She lived in Minneapolis until the age of five when the family moved to Harris. Annie attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High School in 2004. After high school she stayed at home to care for her mother who had health issues. After Annie’s mom passed away in November 2007, she moved to the metro area. She would go on the start a business with Charlie Keen called Storm Guard Restorations, operating in the Oakdale area.

Annie was involved with Teen Focus. Annie loved horses and had her own horse while in high school and she volunteered at Changing Gaits, a horse therapy program near Brook Park. While living in rural Stacy, Annie loved all kinds of animals, from her dogs and cats, to collecting bugs, her pet tarantula, and iguana. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed knitting hats and mittens, and was an excellent care giver. More recently she was very spiritual and was passionate about getting her relationship back with God. She also was becoming more interested in her Native American heritage and becoming more in touch with the Oneida Tribe.

She was preceded in death by her father in 2003, her mother in 2007, and uncle Mark Lillard. Annie is survived by her four children Ashlyn Long, Eli Okeson, Jordan Keely and Justice Thorson, sisters Nicole Betlach of Rogers, Maddie Betlach of Stacy, Hope Lemieux of Wittenberg, WI, brothers Matt Betlach of Duluth, Ed Lemieux of Green Bay, WI, Mark Lemieux of Moorhead, step father Tony Betlach of Stacy, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Samuel Miller
Samuel Vincent Miller, 9 months old, of Ramsey, MN, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 in Ramsey. Sam was born in Princeton, MN to Dixie Bunnell and Jared Miller on November 23, 2013. Sam was the happiest baby boy; always smiling, lighting up every room he crawled into, and he welcomed everyone into his life. Samuel is preceded in death by his grandma Doris Bunnell and Aunt Dusty Bunnell. Sam is survived by his parents Jared Miller and Dixie Bunnell, grandparents Duane and Lucy Bunnell, Debra Depew, Michael and C.J. Miller, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Gregory Schwantz
Gregory Joseph Schwantz, 55, of Cambridge, passed away at his home in Cambridge on Thursday, October 2, 2014. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home.

Dorothy Stomberg
Dorothy Rose Stomberg, 86, died as she lived, beside her husband Henry on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, MN.

Dorothy was born on January 5th, 1922 in Duluth, MN to Fred and Olga (Rose) Pflueger. She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1940. On January 16, 1938 she attended a youth group at the First Methodist Church in Duluth where Hank asked her for ice cream and a movie, and the rest is history. The couple was married in that chapel on February 20, 1943 and had not been apart until this past Sunday. They resided in Duluth, MN, Chicago IL where she worked as a librarian, Des Plaines, Crystal, MN where they bought their first home, and Cambridge, MN.

Dorothy worked for Honeywell for 15 years on the assembly line and retired on March 31, 1981. After retirement, Dorothy and Hank spent their winters in Weslaco, TX. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, time with family and friends, going to the casino, and especially those great-grand babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lloyd Pflueger.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Henry G. Stomberg of Cambridge, daughters Susan Popovich of Gardner, KS, and Carol Stomberg of Cedar, grandchildren Celina (Bryan, Rebekah) Huffman of Gardner, KS, and Chris Popovich of Grandby, CO, great-grandaughters, Makayla and Allyson and children in her heart, Ann Dallager and Dale Popovich.

Ronald Nelson
Ronald E. “Doc” Nelson of Cambridge, died on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the age of 84 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 22, 1929 to Albert and Agnes (Palm) Nelson in Princeton, Minnesota. During his childhood he lived on a farm in Athens Township and later on a farm in St. Francis. After graduation from St. Francis high school in 1947, Ron attended the University of Minnesota. He married Betty Porter on September 17, 1949 and to this union were born three children: Brenda, Brian and Theresa.

Ron enlisted in the US Air Force in April 1951 and served as an Air Traffic Controller in Japan during the Korean conflict. Once discharged, he enrolled in Northwestern Chiropractic College. Eventually, in 1962, he and Betty moved to Cambridge where he worked as a Chiropractor until 1982. During the 1970s, he became an avid Bluejacket athletics fan. (He would often treat the athletes for no fee what-so-ever.)

In 1982 he discontinued his Chiropractic practice, formed an athletic brace company, “Mikros”, and eventually formed a professional partnership with Mueller Sports Medicine Company. Ron was very proud of the 31 athletic and orthopedic braces patents he held. He remained a consultant to Mueller Sports Medicine until very recently.

In 1995 Ron married Kathy Bohl (following the death of Betty). He loved nature, hunting, basketball and softball. His family, immediate and extended, was the focus of his life. He loved to sing loud and proud, especially to his grandchildren, even though he could not carry a tune.

Ron is survived by his wife Kathy and his children, Brenda (Daniel) Oslund, Brian Nelson, and Theresa (Scott) Johnson; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Betsy and Erik Oslund, Justin Nelson, Jake and Luke Johnson, Kathy's children Heidi and Jason Bohl. He is also survived by his sister Marian (Syd) Reed and brothers Pat (Katie) Nelson and Gerald (Jeannie) Nelson and sister-in-law Joyce Nelson.

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents and siblings Marjorie Ackerson, Vernal Nelson, Dorothy Arthur, Morris Nelson and Marvel Lange.
