Donald J. Eveslage, 89, teacher and administrator at Frazee High School for 36 years, died of heart failure on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in Burnsville, Minn. Visitation will be at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m., and continuing for one hour prior to Monday’s services in the church. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery. The family would like memorials sent to Hospice, 2450 26th Ave. So., Minneapolis, MN 55406. Arrangements are being provided by the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee.

Sandra L. Kratzke 62, of Vergas, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Furey Funeral Home, Frazee, with the Rev. Robert Hinckley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at Furey Funeral Home, Frazee, which is providing arrangements.

Gladys Lavonne Klicker, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Interment is at Oak Grove cemetery in Detroit Lakes. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes has been serving the family.

Former Lake Park resident Kenneth D. Maitland, 74, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, surrounded by loved ones. A small memorial celebration of Ken’s life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, UT 84741, in Ken’s name. Arrangements were made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, Utah.

Former Silver Bay, Minn., resident Duane J. Haas, 77, of Frazee, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at St Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, with a Rosary at 6 p.m., continuing for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frazee, with the Rev. Joe DeCrans officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery in Frazee. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee.

Cynthia Marie Holzgrove, 52, formerly of Detroit Lakes, passed away March 31, 2008, in Kettering, Ohio. Memorial Services for Cyndi will be held Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church near Detroit Lakes, with Father Bob LaPlante officiating. Interment will take place in Kona, Hawaii.

Visitation is Friday, May 9, from 5–7 p.m. in West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes. Interment is in Oak Grove cemetery, Detroit Lakes.

Marian E. Anderson, 90
Died: Thursday, November 24, 2005, in Nevis, MN.
Marian E. Anderson, 90, of Nevis, MN, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, in her home in Nevis, MN under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice of Park Rapids, MN, surrounded by her loving family.

Marian Evelyn Roberts was born on December 11, 1914 to Charles and Nellie (Browne) Roberts in Leonard, ND. She grew up and graduated from high school in Leonard, ND. On October 28, 1932 she married Clarence Anderson in Hawley, MN. Clarence died in 1970. Shortly after they were married they moved to Rollag, MN. In 1969 they moved to Moorhead where she worked in the maintenance department for Concordia College for 26 years. She moved to Nevis, MN in 2000 to be with her family. Marian enjoyed reading and writing letters to family and friends and most of all she enjoyed nature.

She is survived by one son, Roger Anderson, Dilworth, MN; one daughter, Nancy (Michael) Houghton, Nevis, MN; one brother, Bill Roberts, Pueblo, CO; three sisters, Maude Pharnes, Fargo, ND, Zoe Headland, Fargo, ND and Betty Garrett, Wichita Falls, TX; four grandchildren, Jeff Thompson, Moorhead, MN, Lonnie Hillyard, Citrus Heights, CA, Megan (Ian) Saylor, Nashville, TN and Marcie Houghton, Sacramento, CA; two great-grandchildren, Katrina Thompson and Jessica Hillyard; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Judy Thompson and Lois Elaine Anderson; three sisters, Ruth Walker, Virginia Magnuson and Elizabeth Sunderland; three brothers, Donald, Gordon and Paul Roberts.

In lieu of flowers Marian's family requests that you either plant a tree or perennial in her memory or make a donation to your favorite Humane Society in her memory.

Arnold F. Miller, 92
Died: Friday, June 10, 2005, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Arnold F. Miller, 92, of Fargo, died on Friday, June 10, 2005 at Rosewood On Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Arnold was born on July 18, 1912 in Des Moines, IA to John and Mary Miller. He attended school in Des Moines graduating in 1930. In 1933 he married Anna Belle Rosen. After working several years for produce companies, he started working for Michael Swanson & Brady Produce Company in Kansas City, MO. The Millers moved to Moorhead, MN in 1939 where Arnold continued working for Michael Swanson & Brady produce and marketing potatoes. Arnold spent 52 years in the produce business retiring in 1979.

On December 28, 1963 Arnold married Helen Anderson Ries in Fargo. The couple resided in Moorhead for 39 years then moved to Fargo on December 1, 2002.

Arnold was a life member of the following organizations: The Masons Shiloh Lodge, The Elks Lodge, and The El Zagal Shrine. He was also a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo. Arnold was an avid member of the Quarter Horse Associations. He was a long time member of the Red River Valley Horse Breeders Association, elected Horseman of the year in 1978; American Quarter Horse Association, State Director of the Minnesota American Quarter Horse Association, Past President of District 6 Quarter Horse Association, and Past President of the Minnesota State Quarter Horse Association.

He competed in the World Championship Quarter Horse Shows for 15 years in Oklahoma City, OK. His last showing at age 85 got four standing ovations. In January 2003 Arnold was elected to the Minnesota Cowboy Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.

Arnold is survived by his wife Helen, two daughters; Barbara (Jerry) Bohnenblust, Germantown, MD, and Shannon Powell, Roseville, MN; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother Arden Miller, Norwalk, IA.

The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Order of the Eastern Star - Moorhead Chapter.

Walter O. Anderson, 79

Walter O. Anderson, 79, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlington, TX.

Walter Orin Anderson was born on January 28, 1927 in Erskine, MN to Daniel and Olga (Clausen) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in Erskine, graduation from Erskine High School in 1944. Walter joined the US Navy on January 25, 1945. He was honorably discharged on August 13, 1946. On July 11, 1952 he married Donna Simon in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, together they had three children. Walter graduated from the Wahpeton School of Science with a two year degree in Auto Mechanics and worked towards an advance degree at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. After graduating from Wahpeton, he was employed at Wallworks and Francis Peterson's until he took a teaching position at Minnesota State Technical College in Moorhead, retiring in 1989.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna; one son, Wayne (Lisa) Anderson, Centennial, CO; two daughters, Gale Anderson, Aurora, MN and Julie (Marvin) Nelson, Audubon, MN; one sister, Luella (Robert) Vanderwaal, Erskine, MN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, one sister, and one son-in-law, Bradley A. Anderson.

Florence A. Erickson, 91
Died: Tuesday, January 17, 2006, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Florence, A. Erickson, 91, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, January 17, 2005, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.

Florence A. Moberg was born on December 20, 1914, to John and Clara (Lee) Moberg in Vergas, MN. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1932. In 1934 she married Erling Erickson in Moorhead. Together they had three children. Erling died on November 9, 1997. She thoroughly enjoyed knitting, crocheting and putting together puzzles. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Don (Carol) Erickson, Streamwood, IL; one daughter, Lois Vogele, Rochester, MN; one brother, James "Bud" Moberg, Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; Gerald Erickson; five brothers, Clarence, William, Arthur, Willard and Carmen Moberg; and two sisters, Eunice Scheidler and Joanne Kroehler.

A memorial service will be held at the same time for Gerald Erickson.

Joyce I. Rude, 81
Died: Wednesday, November 23, 2005, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Joyce was born on September 21, 1924 to Christian and Ella (Kjos) Sander in rural Hawley, where she grew up and attended District 11 School through the 8th grade. She worked for area farmers until moving to Fargo, where she worked for Loomis and Loomis Cleaners, Fairmont Creamery, and Fargo Foundry, where she made bomb parts during WWII.

Joyce was married to Orvin Rude on October 28, 1950 in Rollag, MN and they made their home in Glyndon. Orvin passed away on February 5, 1992. Joyce spent her time as a homemaker and later worked as a chiropractic assistant. Joyce had a strong passion for music and was a self-taught guitar and piano player. She enjoyed many artistic pursuits, including sewing, crocheting, embroidery, cake decorating, painting, leather tooling, and poetry. Joyce believed that education was paramount. She was proud of achieving her GED in her early 50's and later attended classes at Moorhead State. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, 4-H leader, and a lifetime member of Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Association. Joyce especially enjoyed designing costumes as a freelance designer for the FM Opera, FM Community Theatre, and Red River Dance Company.

She is survived by one son, Loren Rude, Glyndon, MN; two daughters, Lorelee Rude, Fargo, ND and Valerie (Michael) Luhman, Church's Ferry, ND; one sister, Adeline Halvorson; brother-in-law, Clinton Halgrimson and four grandchildren, Chad, Heather, Amanda, and Daniel Luhman.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her sister Grace Halgrimson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willard, Gordon (Mildred), Ruben (Annie), Roy (Beverly); nephew, Marloye Halgrimson; and brother-in-law Lloyd Halvorson.

Sandra G. Halsne, 64
Died: Thursday, February 02, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Sandi G. Stefansen was born on July 30, 1941, to Fritz and Ruth (Miller) Stefansen in Tyler, MN. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Danebod Lutheran Church, Tyler, MN. She grew up and attended school in Tyler, MN, graduating high school in 1959. She married Dick Halsne on November 4, 1960, in Tyler. Soon after their marriage, they moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area. Sandi worked as a Legal Secretary, a Dispatch Personnel for the police department and for the District Attorney's office. In 1986, she graduated with her four year business degree from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. In 1988, she co-authored a college textbook. Sandi taught at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Moorhead from 1977 until her retirement in 2003. Sandi was admired, loved and respected by her students and colleagues. She truly loved being a teacher and a mentor. Many of her students have kept in touch with her through the years.

Her seven grandchildren adored her. She was the type of Grandma that everyone wishes they had! There was always a game to be played and treats to be had.

The most precious moments of her life were when all of her family were together. She always made sure everyone's favorites were at the table. Whether it was traveling to the lake for a week or gathering together for Christmas, she made sure everything came together.

She and Dick spent their retirement enjoying their yard and garden, and just being together. She also had a love for antiques. She and Dick had fun traveling to auctions for that one of a kind find! They have known each other most of their lives and were best friends. Their two halves made a perfect whole.

Although she will be missed dearly, she will forever remain a strong and loving influence in all of our lives. Sandi died on February 2, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, at the age of 64.

She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Halsne, Moorhead, MN; two sons, Jeffrey (Angie) Halsne, Minnetonka, MN, and Jason (Kris) Halsne, Moorhead, MN; two daughters, Juli (Doug) Sedivec, Littleton, CO, and Jill (Steve) Lodin, Noblesville, IN; two brothers, David "Skip" (Linda) Stefansen, Northridge, CA, and Micahel Healy, North Hollywood, CA; and seven grandchildren, Morgan, Ryan, Dustin, Hannah, Samantha, Megan, and Noah.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
