Ronald J. Thompson, Jr., 42, Littleton, CO, formerly Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2005, in Johnson, Kansas.
Ronald J. Thompson, Jr., was born on June 29, 1962, in Yakima, WA. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN, where he was a wrestler for four years, graduating in 1980. In 1982 he graduated from Wahpeton State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND where he studied refrigeration and air conditioning. Ronald then moved to Austin, TX where he met and married Karen Rogers. Ronald worked for several companies before opening his own business, Thompson refrigeration, in Houston, TX. Since 2000, he has lived in Littleton, CO.

Ron loved spending time with his family, was a pilot and loved to fly, sky dive, scuba dive, fish and hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, Littleton, CO; his children, Megan, Ryan and Rebecca, Littleton, CO; his parents, Ronald Sr. and Bert Thompson, Moorhead, MN; brother, Donnie (Kris) Thompson, Buffalo, MN; sister, Rhonda (Brent) Chambers, Glen Allen, VA; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and close friend, Sarah Tayloe.

Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunt Donna Nasset, uncle Marvin Krenzel, and cousin Lonnie Nicklay.

Ron was a loving father, son, and brother and will be missed greatly by all.

Raymond L. Kronbeck, 84
Died: Sunday, November 06, 2005, in Viking Manor, Ulen, MN.
Raymond Kronbeck, 84, of Hawley, MN, died Sunday, November 6, 2005, at the Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, Minnesota.

Raymond was born to Swanie and Eliza (Burnside) Kronbeck on September 20, 1921 on their farm north of Hawley, Minnesota.

He attended grade school north of Hawley and graduated from Hawley High School in 1940. In 1942 his father passed away suddenly of a stroke, after which Raymond took over the family farm.

On June 17, 1945 Ray married Inez Enervold in Forman, North Dakota.

They attended Lysne Lutheran Church, rural Hawley for 48 years, and later they moved to Hawley and joined the Hawley United Methodist Church.

Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and a good game of checkers with his grandson, Rob.

Raymond and Inez enjoyed taking trips with the Senior Citizens group to Nashville, Canadian Rockies, Ice Follies, Medora and a Vikings game.

Ray entered the Viking Manor in Ulen in 2001, where he remained until his death.

Ray and Inez celebrated their 60th Anniversary in June 2005 at the Viking Manor.

Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was his number one joy in his life.

Ray will be remembered for his loving ways, smile and a little wink of his eye.

He is survived by Inez, his wife of 60 years; one daughter, Raynelle (Nile) Anderson, Hawley, MN; one son, David (Carol) Kronbeck, Hawley, MN; three grandchildren, Sara (Scott) Rossow, Kindred, ND, Michelle (Troy) Jepson, Hitterdal, MN and Robert (Kylie) Anderson, Trimont, MN; four great grandchildren, Alex, Brooke and Karli Rossow, and Cade Jepson; one sister, June Dorrough, San Marcos, CA; one brother, Alfred (Hyacinth) Kronbeck, Moorhead, MN.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Rodney Wayne, his parents, brothers, Walter and Palmer and two infant brothers.

Elline G. Noben, 73
Died: Thursday, May 05, 2005, in in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Elline Noben, 73, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at her home in rural Lake Park, Minnesota.

Elline Glenda Seydel was born October 4, 1931 in rural Becker County, MN near the village of Dale. She was the ninth of twelve children of Fredrick and Louise (Schneider) Seydel. Elline was raised on her parents' farm and attended rural school District 41 and had completed seventh grade when the school was closed. She attended school in Hitterdal for one year and then was transferred to Lake Park High School and where she graduated in 1949. After graduation, Elline worked briefly at a Floyd's hamburger shop in Lake Park. In January 1950, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed at a restaurant, then returned to her family's farm in Minnesota in July 1950. She later served as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Bentley in Hawley, MN, where she met her husband, Charles Arvid Noben of Lake Park. They were married October 8, 1959, and she moved to the farm site north of Lake Park where Charles was born and raised. Elline was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Audubon where she was baptized, confirmed, and married . She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, choir member, and served on the Ladies Aid. Elline served as president of Lake Park High School Music Mothers and helped in other school related activities. In 1994, Charles and Elline were honored as the Becker County Valley Farmer and Homemaker. Charles and Elline were active in the Country Twirlers Square Dance Club, serving as president and were the first Historians of The Northwest Region Square Dance Federation. Elline enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking, playing cards, and reading. She died of cancer under the care of Hospice of The Red River Valley.

Elline is survived by her husband, Charles; a daughter, Nancy (Konrad) Noben-Trauth, Rockville, Maryland; sons, Glenn Noben and Chris Noben, both of Lake Park. Brothers, Wilbert Seydel, Hitterdal, MN; Junior Seydel, Detroit Lakes, MN; Grant Seydel, Hitterdal, MN; Archie Seydel, Detroit Lakes; Eugene (Sandy) Seydel, Willmar, MN. Sisters: Esther (Walter) Atkinson, Bemidji, MN and Lyla (Paul) Olson, Lake Park, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Elroy, sisters, Leona, Sylvia, and Luella.

Patricia A. "Pat" Hiller, 70
Died: Thursday, April 27, 2006, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Patricia A. "Pat" Hiller, 70, of Dilworth, MN, died peacefully Thursday, April 27, 2006 in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley surrounded by her family.

Pat was born on November 1, 1935 to Darrell and Dorothy (Wilberts) Stevens in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up and attended school in Aberdeen. On July 7, 1957 she married John Gall in Wishek, ND. Together they raised their family in Wishek. On July 31, 1983 she married the love of her life, Howard Hiller. Howard died on September 11, 1999. Pat moved to Dilworth, MN in 2001. Pat was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1969. She will be remembered for her cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, and most importantly she will be forever recognized for her warmth and compassion shown to everyone she met. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and beloved Yorkie, Tashee.

She is survived by two sons, Raydon (Cindy) Gall, Wishek, ND, John C. (Stephanie) Gall, Twin Valley, MN; two daughters, Dianne (Robert) Stevens Asleson, West Fargo, ND, Melissa Marsh, West Fargo, ND; three sisters, Sandra (Felix) Murray, Mitchell, SD, Julie Breadon, Brush Prairie, WA, Penny Stevens, Lafayette, CA; one aunt, CoRene Griffith, Aberdeen, SD; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her, father, mother, step-father (Cliff Herr), two sisters (Karla Gross and Sharon Pfeifer), and her husband, Howard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and/or Dilworth Presbyterian Church.

Harold A. Miller, 87
Died: Wednesday, September 21, 2005, in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Harold A. Miller, 87, Moorhead, MN, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, in his home under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley with his family at his side.

Harold A. Miller was born on April 6, 1918, at Malcomb, MN, to Albert and Myrna (Erickson) Miller. He grew up and attended rural school near Grygla, MN. As a youth, he operated a gas station in Grygla, and then moved to Washington State and California before joining the U.S. Army. He served as Staff Sergeant in the Pacific theatre of WWII, from 1941 until 1945. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Grygla and then moved to Minneapolis where he attended the Minneapolis school of Business. He went to work for Otter Tail Power as an business accountant, first in Fergus Falls, MN, and then in Jamestown, ND. Harold married Margaret Eileen Verbout on January 6, 1951, in Thief River Falls, MN, and they made their home in Jamestown, ND and was proud of their new house he built largely by himself with a little help from friends. They moved to their new house in Moorhead, MN, where Harold started Harold A. Miller Trucking, starting out with a milk can route hauling for Cass Clay Creamery and growing it to numerous bulk truck routes in MN and ND. He started over the road freight business hauling cartons to Montana. He also started and ran Moorhead Sandblast and Paint, doing work on everything from pontoons to water towers, along with starting and running Moorhead Welding doing many area interstate freeway overhead signs. He eventually sold other businesses to focus on growing his freight and bulk pneumatic business hauling throughout the Midwest and Southeast United States for many manufactures, including Crystal Sugar. Harold retired in 1988 and immensely enjoyed spending time at their Big Toad Lake home with his family and friends. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and snowmobiling and he was thrilled with water skiing up to age 72.

Harold is survived by his wife, Margaret Eileen Miller, Moorhead, MN; two sons, Rod (Sheila) Miller, Eden Prairie, MN, and Ronald (Christine) Miller, Plymouth, MN; two daughters, Deborah (Mark) Anderson, Wadsworth, OH, and Pam Miller, Lake Oscar, near Alexandria, MN; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Eide, Sioux Falls, SD, and Margaret Sommers, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Doug; and one sister, Helen.

Robert A. Brekken, 78
Died: Friday, January 13, 2006, in Hawley Manor Retirement Home, Hawley, MN.
Robert was born April 26, 1927 at Ulen, Minnesota to Olaf and Rubye (Bucholz) Brekken. He moved with his family to Summit, South Dakota when he was three weeks old, and at the age of ten moved to Hawley, Minnesota, graduating from Hawley High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1946, serving on the USS Alamosa. Following his military discharge he attended Concordia College for one year, then attended the University of Minnesota for four years, graduating in 1951 with a degree in journalism. He was employed as a newspaper man for the Red Lake Falls Gazette in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota from 1951 to 1952. In 1952 he became owner and editor of the Hawley Herald, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the Hawley Chamber of Commerce, Rodeo Association, Hawley Golf Association, VFW, American Legion, Hawley cemetery Association and was chairman since the early 1980's. He was also a member of the Red River Valley Flyers, a Pigeon Racing Club, where he held various offices, he was a member of the Western Minnesota Steam Thresher's Association, the C400 at Concordia College and the Clay County Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Jacolyn Kelly.

He is survived by his nephew, John Kelly; and numerous cousins.

Clyde E. Ellefson, 70
Died: Monday, January 02, 2006, in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Clyde Elroy Ellefson, 70, died Monday, January 2, at his home in Moorhead after a courageous battle with cancer.

Clyde was born February 15, 1935, in Thief River Falls, to Clarence and Cora (Kjos) Ellefson. He grew up near Highlanding, Minnesota attending rural School District 47 of Pennington County. He graduated from high school in Goodridge, Minnesota. He enjoyed trapping and hunting from the time of early youth.

Clyde was baptized and confirmed in Lutheran faith by Rev. E.O. Sabo, the grandfather of Darlene, who later became his wife. He married Darlene Sabo in Thief River Falls June 18, 1955. The couple lived the first few years in Aurora-Biwabik area where Clyde was employed as foreman at Foley Taconite Construction. In 1959 the family moved to Red Lake County where they resided for thirty-eight years. Clyde was employed as lead lineman of Otter Tail Power Company until 1997, and also farmed, raised Angora goats for mohair, served as deputy police of Red Lake Falls and sheriff deputy of Red Lake County on a part-time basis. He and Darlene owned and operated Ellefson's Shoes and Jeans in Peppermint Square Mall from 1977 to 1982.

He and Darlene raised their family of five children and foster children while living at Red Lake Falls. Clyde served on the volunteer ambulance, was Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #52 and served in various positions on the Bethany Lutheran Church Board and 6 1/2 years on the Red Lake Falls School Board.

For many years he deer hunted in northern Minnesota and western states. He treasured these excursions with his hunting buddies and children. The family traveled and camped in various locations. Clyde enjoyed reading and the History Channel, his prime interest being World War II History. He enjoyed nature and watching the fruits of his labor in raising grain. He especially enjoyed being in company with his family.

In 1997 the couple moved to Stony Bar Estates, rural Pelican Rapids. Clyde served as Trustee of Trinity Lutheran Church and as president of the Senior Center in Pelican Rapids. In 2000 they moved to Moorhead where they resided at the time of his death. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as trustee. Clyde was also an active volunteer for United Blood Services.

Clyde was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and granddaughter, Erin Ellefson.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters, Rhonda Ellefson, Fargo, ND; Valerie Ellefson, Moorhead; Shelly (Steve) Bethke, Fargo; and sons, Ryan (Christine), Red Lake Falls and Randy (Kara) Ellefson, Hawley; grandchildren, Seth, Kurtis (LeAnn), Cassandra, Nickolas, Benjamin and Mira Ellefson and Jenna and Jillian Bethke; great granddaughter, RyLee Ellefson; sister, Darleen Lindom of Thief River Falls, nieces Lana (Tim) Bulger and Sheryl (Tim) Danielson and nephews Alan Van de Streek (Bonnie) and Lyle (Cecelia) LaCoursiere.
