Joe was born on August 11, 1949, in Alexandria, MN. He grew up and attended school in Glyndon, MN, graduating from Glyndon High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1968 until 1970. He married
Darlene Schenck in March of 1972, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Baker, MN. They made their home in Moorhead, MN, and he drove for Mayer Truck Line out of Jamestown, ND, for many years before becoming an independent owner-operator. Joe married
Deborah Rumer on May 26, 1984, in Potomac, MT, and they made their home in Potomac, until recently when they moved to Missoula, MT.
Joe is survived by his wife, Deborah Babolian, Missoula, MT; his mother, Olive Babolian, Moorhead, MN; three sons, Ryan (Angela) Babolian, West Fargo, ND, Eric (Melissa) Babolian, Fergus Falls, MN, and Troy Babolian, Moorhead, MN; one daughter, Kimberly Babolian, Everett, WA; six brothers, Larry (Patty), Glyndon, MN, Emory (Liz), Fargo, ND, LeRoy, Glyndon, MN, Clinton, Moorhead, MN, Vernon (Heidi), Germany, Carl, Moorhead, MN; three sisters, Carolyn (Edwin) Edwards, Moorhead, MN, Clarice (Dennis Edwards) Babolian, Fargo, ND, Germaine (Victor) Gress, Felton, MN; two grandchildren, Blake and Owen.
Maxine L. Rogers, 81

Maxine L. Rogers, 81, Moorhead, MN, died on Wednesday, December 15, 2004, in Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Maxine L. Weum was born on May 21, 1923, in Georgetown, MN, to Randolph and Catherine (Wambach) Weum. She grew up and attended school there. She was the assistant postmaster in Georgetown from 1941 until 1944. Maxine married
Harry Rogers on August 30, 1944 and they made their home in Moorhead. She worked at Woolworth's Dime Stores in Moorhead and Fargo. Harry died on February 21, 1988. Maxine had a magnetic personality and her ever present smile lifted the hearts of all she came in contact with.
Maxine is survived by a brother, Lloyd (Clarice) Weum, Battle Lake, MN; a sister, Irene Anderson, Fargo, ND; special friend, Al Sholander, Moorhead, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Randolph "Bud" Weum.
Helen M. Holtan, 91

Helen Muriel Maanum was born February 2, 1914 near Benson, MN where she grew up and graduated from Benson High School. On August 2, 1940 she married
Milton S. Holtan in Milbank, SD. They lived in Jamestown, ND where they raised their 4 children until 1965 when they moved to Redwood Falls, MN. In 1976 they moved to Bloomington, MN, where Milton died in 1987. In 1994 Helen moved to Park Rapids, MN where she enjoyed summers at her cabin on Potato Lake which they built in 1968. She is survived by two sons; Mark (Annette), Munster, IN, Paul (Vicki), Moorhead, MN; one daughter, Mary (John) Craft, Anaheim, CA, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, John.
Harry W. Rosenfeldt, 85

Harry Rosenfeldt was born on December 2, 1919, near Sabin, MN, to Adolph and Amanda (Mattson) Rosenfeldt. He grew up and attended school there and then began farming near Sabin. Harry married
Myrtle L. Langseth on November 21, 1941, in Dennison, MN. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served during WWII. He was wounded on Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart. He returned to the Glyndon, MN, area and worked for Hank Peterson Farms for twenty five years, retiring due to disability. In retirement, Harry enjoyed tending his garden and his lawn and helped his sons on the farm. Myrtle died on October 23, 1989.
Harry is survived by four sons, Bill Rosenfeldt, Omaha, NE, Jon (Diane) Rosenfeldt, Glyndon, MN, Dan (Julie) Rosenfeldt, Moorhead, MN, Tom (Lu) Rosenfeldt, Sheffield, IA; two daughters, Patricia (Curtis) Jones, Truman, MN, and Penni (Daryl) Osmundson, Ames, IA; one sister, Blanche Young, Morris, MN; 24 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; a son Kim "Smiley", a sister, Marion Hoppe, and a grandson, Travis.
Alice O. Oliver, 90

Alice Larson was born in Johnsonburg, PA October 30, 1914 to Sam and Elsa Larson. A graduate of Grove City College, Grove City, PA. She had the challenging opportunity to begin her teaching career in a country school prior to teaching English in the Johnsonburg High School.
She was married
to Dr. James Oliver in St. Paul, MN on May 3, 1943. In 1945 they moved to Moorhead and with a few exceptions, including a two year stay in Germany and the three years in Minneapolis, have continue to live in Moorhead.
She was a member of numerous organizations including university women, c-400, founding member of chapter CO of PEO, and treasured also the years of involvement in Campfire activities receiving the Luther Gulvick Award. An over 50 year member of First Congregational Church in Moorhead, she served in many capacities including a term as state board member, enjoyed years of teaching church high school classes and singing in the choir.
Being fluent in Swedish, her many visits to Sweden to meet her first cousins and families were especially rewarding and a source of many treasured memories.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, a devout Christian, a caring, devoted and honored wife striving always to serve others with dignity, trust and respect. She will truly be missed greatly by all of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Dr. Susan Oliver, Boulder, Co and Kathy Oliver, Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Chelsea and grandson Gabriel and her sister, Margaret, Eadi, CA

Bernice M. Anderson, 87, Hawley, Minnesota, died Sunday, September 5, 2004, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, Minnesota, under hospice care.
Bernice was born August 8, 1917, in Tansem Township, Clay County, MN, the daughter of Ludwig and Nilda (Anderson) Arneson. She attended rural school in Clay County, and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1936. She married
Eddie A. Anderson October 29, 1939, and resided on a farm near Pelican Rapids, MN. In 1949, they moved to a farm near Rollag, MN, where they resided until 1995. Upon retirement, they moved to Hawley, MN.
Bernice was a member of Rollag Lutheran Church and served in women's activities associated with the church.
Bernice was a most kind a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved music and enjoyed her birthday club, and visiting with friends, neighbors, and family.
Bernice lost her loving husband, Eddie, in 2000. Bernice was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a daughter-in-law, one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by six children, Diana Overland, Hawley, MN, DeWayne, Kalamazoo, MI, Edwin, Hawley, MN, Willis, Pelican Rapids, MN, Daniel, St. Cloud, MN, and Stuart, Pelican Rapids, MN; nine grandchildren, Royce (Angie), Chad (Sarah), and Ryan (Tracey) Overland; Michael, David (Nancy), Brynn, and Steven Anderson; Lindsay and Joseph Anderson; she is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Arneson, Detroit Lakes, MN; brothers-in-law, Bernard (Marcelle), Moorhead, and Amos Anderson, Detroit Lakes, MN; a special daughter-in-law, Ariel Anderson, Kalamazoo, MI; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Jean M. Simmons, 54
Died: Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Meritcare Hospital, Fargo.
Jean Larson was born March 19, 1950 in Clay County, Minnesota, to Victor and Vera (Hanson) Larson. She lived with her family in Ulen area, and then moved to Hawley with her family in 1956, graduating from Hawley High School in 1968, then graduated from Moorhead Technical College. On December 6, 1969 she was married
to Ted Simmons at Hawley Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they lived in Moorhead until moving to rural Glyndon in 1973. She was employed at Pioneer Mutual, then St. John's Hospital. Jean attended nursing school at Northwest Technical College in Twin Valley, Minnesota. She has been employed at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead since 1999.
She loved family, friends, spending time in her flower garden and her pets. She also loved traveling on motorcycle trips.
Jean died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 54. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Vera, and one sister, Nancy.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Simmons, Glyndon, MN; one son, Matt (Trina) Simmons, Fargo, ND; one daughter, Candace (Brad) Cegla, Donnelly, MN; one brother, Mark Larson, Fridley, MN; two sisters, LaVaye Tollefson, Glyndon, MN, and Dianne (Steve) Mounce, Hawley, MN.
Daria Askegaard, 51
Died: March 25, 2004, in her home.
Daria Joy (Waller) Askegaard was born on November 26, 1952 in Ada, M N. to Wallace and Adeline (Kindseth) Waller. She grew up in Twin Valley and Barnesville, MN. She was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1971. She was a class officer and involved in many activities. Daria attended Moorhead State College graduating in 1976 with a degree in Medical Technology. She began working immediately upon graduation at Dakota Clinic in Fargo where she worked for 26 years. She was the chemistry supervisor and helped set up the chemistry laboratory at Dakota Clinic/Innovis Hospital. Daria married
Ed Askegaard on July 16, 1977 in Barnesville, MN. They made their home at 108 38th Circle Avenue, in Moorhead. She traveled both nationally and internationally and especially loved beaches. She described herself as "lucky".
Daried loved her family. She was full of life to her 25 nieces and nephews; her 4 great nieces and nephews and her 6 godchildren. She counted her friends among her "family" and had "sisters" too numerous to mention. Throughout her twelve year battle with cancer, Daria was a mentor and source of strength and encouragement to many others who faced challenges.
She is survived by her husband, Ed; her children, Leah of Rochester and Ben of Moorhead; her four brothers, Waldo (Deb) of Goleta, CA; Brian (Sue) of Grantsburg, WI; Mark of Barnesville, MN; Kim (Nancy) of Glyndon, MN; her mother-in-law, Gertrude Askegaard of Comstock, MN her in-laws; Tom (Kathy) Askegaard of Comstock, MN; Anne (Rick) Brakke; Ruth (Scott) Blilie; Andrew (Marion) Askegaard all of Moorhead, MN; 26 nieces and nephews; 4 great nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Gladys I. Crosgrove, 85

Gladys I. Olson was born on June 27, 1919, in Halstad, MN, to Albert K. and Stina (Anderson) Olson. She grew up and attended school in Halstad, MN. Gladys worked as a riveter for Boeing Corporation in Seattle, WA, for two years and then returned to Fargo, ND, where she worked as a clerk in a pharmacy for several years. Gladys married
William Crosgrove on September 20, 1947, in Moorhead, MN, and they lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area all of their life. Gladys loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her husband, William Crosgrove, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN; one son, Gene (Patricia) Hetland, Anoka, MN; one daughter, Karen (John) Randash, Moorhead, MN; three grandchildren, Lisa (Michael) Hoven, Andover, MN, Amy Hetland, Anoka, MN, and Kris (Jason) Halsne, Moorhead; three great-grandchildren, Emily Hoven and Dustin and Megan Halsne. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.
