Roman R. Radermacher

Roman Radermacher, 96, of Jordan, died peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2008 at St. Gertrude’s Care Center, Shakopee.

Roman was born Oct. 24, 1911 at New Market, to parents Frank and Susan (Mahowald) Radermacher. He was married to Andrina Weckman on Oct. 15, 1935 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Oct. 15, 2007.

Roman owned and operated Red Owl in Jordan. He was a member of the Catholic Aid Society, the Jordan Commercial Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Jordan Fire Department and the Scott County Fair Board. Roman enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening and card playing.

Roman came to Jordan in 1933 and worked as a bookkeeper for his father-in-law, Jacob Weckman at Scott County Oil Company, which he later bought with Pete Pauly. In 1954 he bought the Red Owl business on Water Street. Another change came in 1960 when he moved the store to a building he bought from Loren Habegger on First Street. Roman later bought and built on the property on Second Street (current post office). Roman retired in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Radermacher, Sue and Kern Grommesch; brothers, Erwin and Wilmar Radermacher.

He is survived by wife, Andrina Radermacher; children, Lee (Marilyn) Radermacher, Kitty (Pat) Dolan, Sue (David) Suman, Mary (Joe) Benko, Allie (Bob) Cronk, Nancy Busch, Chipper (Todd) Perkins, Frank (Mari) Radermacher; 32 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Myron (Cathy) Radermacher, Agnes Sweiger, Harriet Boetcher, Ruth Giehtbrock, Roger (Jo) Grommesch, Evie (Norb) Wesley, Marie Daigle.

Visitation was Monday, April 7, from 4-8 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan and also one hour prior to the Mass.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan. Pallbearers were Steve Radermacher, John Dolan, Nancy Wickard, Jenny Newton, Ramsey Cronk, Matt Busch, Scott Quisling and Jamee Stasik. Final resting place will be Calvary cemetery in Jordan.

Memorials preferred to St. John’s Catholic School, Jordan.

Evelyn E. Pitschneider

Evelyn E. Pitschneider, 92, of Shakopee, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.

Born June 10, 1915 in Jackson Township, she was the daughter of Anton and Anna (Unterburger) LaTour. She married Maurice H. Pitschneider on Nov. 14, 1934 at St. Mark’s Church, Shakopee. Maurice passed away February 1999.

Loved and forever missed by daughter, Mona (Leon) Riesgraf of Chaska; son, Mitz (Karen) Pitschneider of Jordan; nephew, Leon Pitschneider of Shakopee; four grandchildren, Roger Riesgraf, Tammy Richmond, Penny Bartsch, Elizabeth Sipe; seven great-grandchildren, Charity Riesgraf, Eli Riesgraf, Caileigh Richmond, Courtney Richmond, Brooke Bartsch, Madison Sipe, Cavanaugh Sipe; brother, Donald (Mary) LaTour of Shakopee; sister, Bernie Thomas of Chaska; brother-in-law, Ed Wicklund of St. Louis Park; sister-in-law, Marie LaTour of Shakopee; many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandchild, Robin Pitschneider; brothers, Rhubert LaTour, Anthony LaTour; sister, Juliann Wicklund; brother-in-law, Alvin Thomas

Visitation was Friday, April 11, from 9:30-11 a.m. at Church of St. Mark, Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11 a.m. Final Resting Place is Calvary cemetery, Jordan. Pallbearers included Tom Pitschneider, Daniel LaTour, John LaTour, Roger LaTour, Ken Thomas, Mark Wicklund.

Evelyn was a member of Shakopee Senior Citizens, St. Mark’s Catholic Church, St. Mark’s Ladies Auxillary, and CCW. She loved to play cards and enjoyed sewing fancywork and reading.

Barbara K. Pals

Barbara PalsBarbara PalsBarbara Pals, 69, of Shakopee, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Friendship Manor Care Center in Shakopee.

Barbara was born Sept. 8, 1938 at Belmont, Iowa. Her parents were Weston and Ada (Shahan) Hughes. Barbara married Larry Pals on June 9, 1956 at Belmont. Larry died Nov. 11, 1999. They were blessed with four children.

Barbara is preceded by her husband, Larry Pals; daughter, Karen Pals; parents; sister, Lola May Hughes; sister-in-law, Joann Hughes; brother-in-law, Kyle Mennenga.

Loved and forever missed by children, Brian (Janice) Pals of Shakopee, Michael (Patricia) Pals of Brooklyn Park, Cynthia (Michael Kutscher) Pals of Shakopee; grandchildren, Steven Pals, Kelly Pals, Courtney Skomars, Amanda Pals, Andrew Kutscher, Nicole Kutscher, Natalie Kutscher; brothers and sisters, Gary (Jo) Hughes of Arizona, Lee (Phyllis) Hughes of, Iowa, Lyle (Margaret) Hughes of Iowa, Virginia Mennenga of New Jersey, Linda (Gene) Helland of Iowa, Keith (Suzette) Hughes of Iowa, Paul (Judy) Hughes of Iowa, Becky (Steve) Frerichs of Iowa, Darwin Hughes of Wisconsin; sister-n law, Marilyn (Ray) Horstman of Forest Lake; many nieces, nephews and relatives.

Visitation is Friday, April 11, from 4-7 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee. There also will be visitation one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Chapel, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee. The Rev. A. Paul Olson will preside. Pallbearers will be Steven Pals, Kelly Pals, Courtney Skomars, Amanda Pals, Andrew Kutscher, Nichole Kutscher, Nicole Kutscher, Natalie Kutscher. Final Resting Place will be Valley cemetery in Shakopee.

Barbara enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and boating. She treasured her beloved pets: dogs, cats and birds. She worked at Collins Radio for over 20 years. Barbara and Larry also owned and managed motels in Iowa and Minnesota. In her later years, she loved to crochet kitchen towels and pot holders as well as research those word-find books. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Now she and Larry are square dancing in heaven.

Joel Alan Bleichner

Joel Bleichner, 32, of Shakopee and formerly of Galesburg, Ill., died at his residence in Shakopee.

He was born March 9, 1976 in Galesburg to Mark and Linda (Pitman) Bleichner. Joel loved to fish, ride his Harley and drive demolition derby cars. He was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Loved and forever missed by his son, Jordan; parents, Mark and Linda Bleichner of Shakopee; sisters, Jennifer Thomas of Knoxville, Ill., Tiffany (Brian) Marschall of Lydia, Minn.; nieces and nephew, Amber, Dana and Christian; special friend, Karen Pederson; numerous relatives and friends.

preceded in death by grandparents, George and Virginia Bleichner and Morrie and Arlene Pitman.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee. Funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.

Glen M. Craig

Glen Craig, 72, of Savage, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Minneapolis.

He was born Oct. 29, 1935 in Fairmont, Minn. to Vernon and Ruth (Streimer) Craig.

Glen married Shirley Wehner on Nov. 29, 1958 in Fairmont. Glen served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Prior Lake V.F.W. He worked at Honeywell for 38 years and was a member of the Min-reg Group at Honeywell. Glen was a past member of the Prior Lake Lakers Snowmobile Club and an active member of the Sno-trail. He enjoyed bowling and cooking.

Loved and forever missed by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Kim (Phil) Hackbarth of Richfield, Wis., Mark (Kim) Craig of Cottage Grove, Minn., Wayne (Lisa) Craig of Prior Lake; seven grandchildren, Joy, Michael, David, Tyler, Ryan, Brooke, Brandon; brothers, Melvin (LaVonne) Craig of Mankato, Donald (Sue) Craig of St. James; sister, Verna (Erich) Richter of Faribault; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Saturday, April 19, from 5-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake, and also one hour prior the service on Sunday.

Celebration of Life Service was Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake. Pallbearers were Mark Craig, Wayne Craig, Joy Hackbarth, LCpl Michael Hackbarth, David Hackbarth, Tyler Craig, Ryan Craig. Honorary pallbearers were Brooke Craig and Brandon Craig. Private interment.

Kathryn M. Hammes

Kathryn “Katie” Hammes, 23, of Jordan, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at The Lodge on Natchez Hospice, Elko. Katie fought a seven-year battle with an eating disorder.

Katie was born in Waconia on March 22, 1985, the daughter of William J. Hammes and Diane E. Grannis. A lifelong resident of New Prague, she attended New Prague Elementary and was a 2003 graduate of New Prague High School. She participated in 4-H and the Girl Scouts.

Besides her parents, she is survived by sister, Erin M. Hammes and brother, Joseph W. Hammes, both of Jordan; grandparents, Dorothy Hammes of Spring Valley, Minn., John and Marjorie Grannis of Belle Plaine; great-grandmother, Irene Grannis of Mankato.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Laura (infant) and grandfather, William G. Hammes.

Funeral service is Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Prague, with the Rev. Steve Trewartha and the Rev. Diane Odermann officiating. Palllbearers are her cousins, Jeff Sickle, Matt Sickle, Ben Martin, Jon Martin, Jared Grannis, Alec Grannis, and Adam Jeurissen. Interment at Czech National cemetery in New Prague. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, from 4-8 p.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague, and at the church one hour prior to service.

Vernon G. Spaulding

Vernon "Bud" Spaulding, 87, of Sun City, Calif., passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. He is survived by family in the Prior Lake area.

Vernon was born and raised in California. He served as a 1st lieutenant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a professor for over 38 years at Pasadena City College and LaVerne University.

Survivors included his wife, Eldora Borchardt Spaulding; four children; three stepchildren; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, followed by interment at Riverside National cemetery.

"Bud" will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and many friends.

Ernest W. Ottoson

Ernest Ottoson, 93, of Prior Lake, formerly of Northeast Minneapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008.

A retired U.S. Postal worker and a member of NARFE, he loved traveling and music.

Survived by wife of 58 years, Norma; sons, Keith (Carol), Allan (Kris) and David (Carol); grandchildren, Joe, Heather (Collan) Zehnder, Keri and Andy; great-grandson, Zachary Zehnder; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16150 Arcadia Avenue S.E., Prior Lake. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the church and one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the National Park Service.
