Edward Klein, 85, of Shakopee, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in Shakopee.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Shakopee. Interment at the Catholic cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, June 10, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee.
Survived by children, Rick (Bonnie), Susie (Gary) Hartmann, Barb (Steve) Kurvers, Elaine (Dave) Anton, Annie (Pete) Green, all of Shakopee, Nancy (Bob) Heimkes, Donna Woods, Jeff (Karla), all of Prior Lake, Mary Lou (Tim) Oakes of Minnetonka, Cathy (Mike) Cassidy of Savage; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Stemig of Jordan; sisters-in-law, Betty Klein and Lillian Notermann; brother-in-law, Bob (Rita) Dvorak. preceded in death by loving wife, Agnes (Dvorak), brother, Lawrence.

Barbara J. Tieben
Barbara Tieben, 78, of Shakopee, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 at St. Gertrude’s Care Center in Shakopee.
Barbara was born Sept. 3, 1930 in Dorothy, Minn. Her parents were Mathias and Elsie (Campion) Drees.
She was married
to Henry “Bud” Tieben Jr. on June 7, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shakopee. Bud passed away Oct. 26, 2005.
Barbara worked as an L.P.N. She was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading books, crossword puzzles, nature -- including birds, trees and camping in Canada.
She is loved and forever missed by children, Mark (Judy) Tieben of Shakopee, Roberta (John) Croes of Minnetonka, Gretchen (Mark) Ebli of Prior Lake, Amy (Dewey) Thorson of Chaska; grandchildren, Tony (Leah) Tieben, Andrew Ebli, Kim Tieben, Joe Thorson, Kiisa Ebli, Tim Thorson, Emily Thorson; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Natalie Tieben; brother, Matthew (Anne) Drees of Shakopee; sisters, Patchie Miller of California, Gloria Walpole of New York, Lois Rademacher of Shakopee, Alice Scherer of Shakopee; many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry “ Bud” Tieben Jr.; parents, Mathias and Elsie Drees; siblings, Gen LaCourse, Agnes “Bummy” Boutain, Dorothy “Dottie” Stocker, Patricia “Poppy” McDonald, and Susan Drees.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 350 S. Atwood St., Shakopee, with the Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers are Tony Tieben, Emily Thorson, Leah Tieben, Kimberly Tieben, Andrew Ebli, Kiisa Ebli, Joe Thorson and Tim Thorson. Interment will be at Shakopee Catholic cemetery.

Barbara Anderson
Barbara Anderson, 62, of Prior Lake, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 7, 2009.
Barbara was born Aug. 9, 1946 to parents, Edward and Lorraine (Zimmerman) Kashmark in Minneapolis. She married
Lee Anderson on May 27, 1988 in Shakopee. She loved boating, fishing, reading and vacations in the sun. Barbara was a longtime member of Curves in Prior Lake.
She will be loved and forever missed by her husband, Lee; mother, Lorraine Kashmark of Richfield, Minn.; son, Chris (Amy) Anderson of Edina; grandchildren, Patrick and Erik Anderson; sister, Kathleen (John) Hulting of Eagan; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Kashmark.
Memorial Mass was Thursday, June 11, at 11 a.m., St. Michael Catholic Church, Prior Lake, with visitation 1-1/2 hours prior to the service at church.

Gerard “Gerry” Carlson, 50, formerly of Prior Lake, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 5, 2009 in Mankato.

Dorothy Ann Carlson-Colby
Dorothy Ann Carlson-Colby, 77, of Prior Lake, passed away at Friendship Manor Care Center in Shakopee on Friday, June 5, 2009.
Dorothy was born March 14, 1932 at International Falls, Minn. Her parents were Carl and Ingeborg E. (Nelson) Carlson. She married
Donald Colby on Sept. 15, 1956 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
Dorothy worked as an executive secretary at the General Motors Regional Office in Minneapolis/Edina.
She is survived by husband, Donald Colby of Prior Lake; sons, David Colby of Alexandria, Doug (Pam) Colby of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Michael, Alexis, Mariah, Alex and Madeline; stepmother, Mabel Carlson of International Falls.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation was Wednesday, June 10, from 10 a.m.-noon at Ballard–Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee. Funeral service followed the visitation at noon at the funeral home.

Walter Lloyd Carlson
Wally Carlson, 84, of Jordan, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Auburn Manor in Chaska.
He was born Sept. 26, 1924 to parents Joseph O. and Sadie (Erickson) Carlson in St. Lawrence Township, Jordan. Walter farmed with his family in St. Lawrence Township and graduated from Jordan High School in 1942. Wally had the opportunity to work at many different occupations over his lifetime: owned a sawmill, farmed, was a stone mason, learned to plaster and stucco, worked for the Minnesota Highway Department and was a meter technician for M.V.E. for 17 years until he retired in 1987, just to name a few. An avid hunter, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing in all parts of Minnesota and Canada with family and friends. A favorite story of his was from a hunt in Eagle River, Ontario, Canada with his father Joe and brother Herbert when his father shot a huge moose. Wally was a lifelong active member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan. He had fond memories of the traditional New Year’s Day lutefisk dinner held for all the Carlsons.
Wally is survived by his brother, Eugene “Jim” (Ruth) Carlson of Jordan; sister-in-law, Madeline Carlson of Winsted; nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Peters; brothers, Melvin Carlson, Herbert Carlson; special friend, Gladys Wilson, nephews: Dennis Peters and Gary Carlson.
Celebration of Life service will be Monday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jordan, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pallbearers will be Glen Peters, Sherwood Peters, David Carlson, Joseph Carlson, Bradley Carlson, Larry Wilson and Grant Narkie. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Kipp, Gordon Eikenbush and Roger Narkie. Final resting place will be Spirit Hill cemetery, Jordan.

Alice Marie Schroeder
Alice Marie Schroeder was born Nov. 29, 1916 to George and Grace (Minney) Klein in Freemont, Neb. As an infant her family moved to a farm north of Tracy, Minn. in 1917. She attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating from Tracy High School in 1935.
On March 19, 1936 Alice married
Floyd Persons in the Federated Church in Marshall, Minn. In April of 1967 she moved to Shakopee to work as a nurse at the women’s prison. On Dec. 30, 1970 Alice married
Victor Schroeder and they made their home on Prior Lake.
In November of 2006 she became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, Minn. In March of 2009 she entered the Sanford-Tracy Medical Center where she died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the age of 92.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Virginia (Lawrence) Hochstatter of Marshall and Marilyn (Dennis) Christensen of Garvin; three stepsons, Ted (Shelly) Schroeder of Welch, Minn., Grant (Renda) Schroeder of Dublin, Ohio and Mark (Laura) Schroeder of Prior Lake; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and a great many friends.
Her parents; two husbands, Floyd and Victor; stepson, Stuart Schroeder; two sisters, Dorothy Cooper and Millie Bonaquista; three brothers, Charles, Earl and George E. Klein preceded her in death.

Hildegard K. Karst
Hildegard Karst, 75, of Shakopee, passed away at St. Gertrude’s Health Care Center in Shakopee on Sunday, April 12, 2009.
Hildegard was born Dec. 6, 1933 in Shakopee. Her parents were Mathias and Hildegard (Schmidt) Abeln.
She is loved and forever missed by children, William (Joan) Karst of Belle Plaine, Marie (Thomas) Mochinski of Lester Prairie, Theresa (William) Murphy of Delano, Susan (Jerome) Meuleners of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Hruska, Amanda Murphy, Timothy Hruska, Andrew (Anna) Meuleners, Sarah Murphy, Steven Karst, Joyce Karst, Abraham Meuleners, Hannah Karst, Katrina Mochinski, Rose Karst, Nina Karst, Joseph Mochinski, Elizabeth Mochinski. She was preceded in death by Marvin Karst; parents, Mathias and Hildegard Abeln, brother, Donald (Patricia) Abeln.
Hildegard was a member of the Shakopee Council of Catholic Women. She was a quilter and rosary maker.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 14, from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10-11 a.m. at Ballard–Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Church of St. Mark, Shakopee. Interment was at Shakopee Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Hruska, Timothy Hruska, Andrew Meuleners, Steven Karst, Abraham Meuleners and Jessup Schiks.

Kathleen (Ryan) Spielman Schweich
Kathleen Speilman Schweich passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Shakopee.
Kathleen was born in Jordan on July 30, 1928 to a loving Irish family. Her parents were Joseph and Catherine (O’Neil) Ryan. She married
Bob Spielman in 1950, was widowed young and raised four boys. She married
Cy Schweich in 1987. She taught and worked at Prior Lake schools for many years, most recently as a favorite lunch lady. In 1960, she and Bob built one of the first year-round homes on Prior Lake, where she lived for almost 50 years. She enjoyed being the center of a large blended family. Active in the Prior Lake community and St. Michael’s Catholic Church for many years, Kathleen was committed to her family and her faith; she especially enjoyed her wonderful grandchildren.
