Karen M. Von Bokern

Karen M., age 73, lifetime Shakopee resident, Karen passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 24, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson's.

Karen was born on June 17th, 1939 in Shakopee, attended St. Mark's Catholic grade school and graduated from Shakopee Sr High in 1957. Karen retired from Northstar Auto Auction after more than 30 years. Karen's greatest joys in life were her faith, family and friends. She has been a lifelong member of St. Mark's Catholic Church; she enjoyed hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations. She had a large group of friends and belonged to the Red Hat Society and WINO's. She enjoyed the support of her family and friends during her illness and kept her sense of humor. The family wishes to thank the staff at Emerald Crest & Heartland Hospice for their friendship and care.

Preceded by parents, Robert & Irene Jasper of Shakopee. Survived by her husband of 53 years, Stan; sons, Steve (Dawn) of Minnetonka, Mike (Lisa) of Shakopee; daughter, Lisa (Tim) Ross of Champlin. She was blessed with 7 loving grandchildren and recently 1 great grandchild. Surviving siblings include Robert (Judy) Jasper of Phoenix, Mary Beth (Doug) Complin of Minnetonka, Liz (Gene) Siebenaler of New Prague, Theresa Jasper of Shakopee, Joe (Linda) Jasper of Shakopee, Joni (Todd) Siewert of Hastings; and many nieces and nephews.

David J. Grommesch
7/21/1950 — 1/23/2013
Dave J. Grommesch, age 62, of Shakopee, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his home in Chaska, surrounded by family. He was born in Shakopee, MN, on July 21, 1950, to James and Teresa (Kerber) Grommesch. Dave attended Marystown Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Jordan High School. Dave was owner/operator of Seasonal Services, Inc., specializing in residential landscaping. He was an avid outdoorsman spending much of his free time fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Survived by son, Jay Grommesch and wife, Kristin of Shakopee; daughter, Gena Lamontagne and husband, Beau of San Diego, CA; mother, Teresa Grommesch of Shakopee; significant other, Lynn Grommesch of Eden Prairie; sisters, Kathy VonBank and husband, Ken of Mora, Laurie Krohn and husband, Dave of Shakopee, Kristy Holland and husband, Neal of Shakopee, Julie Johnson and husband, Tom of Jordan, Linda Guimond and husband, Tim of Shakopee, Denise Scherer and husband, Jay of Prior Lake; brother, Mark Grommesch and wife, Amanda of Shakopee.
preceded in death by father, James; granddaughter, Emma Joy Grommesch; nephew, Scott Farrell.
Dave will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Maria M. Gabor

Maria M. Gabor, age 81, of Shakopee, died on Monday, January 21, 2013, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Maria was born on January 10, 1932, in Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, the daughter of Paulino and Severina (Manganaan) Gabor. She was a homemaker.
Survived by her four sons, Robert Dy and wife, Fe of Manila, Philippines, Rodolfo 'Rudy' Dy and wife, Bing of Eden Prairie, Richard Dy and wife, Chona of Savage, Renato 'Ren' Dy of Shakopee; 9 grandchildren; sister, Miling Gamisera of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Preceded by husband, Antonio Dy.

Joseph C. 'Joe' Ginter
9/28/1960 — 1/19/2013
Joseph C. Ginter, 'Joe', age 52, of St. Paul, died on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN, surrounded by his family and friends.
Joe was born on September 28, 1960, in Bedford, England. His adoptive parents are Joseph and Dorothy (Hauer) Ginter. He graduated from Holy Angels High School.
Joe was the business owner of Bald Eagle Liquor in Hugo, MN. He borrowed his uncle's golf clubs at a young age, and ever since has loved playing the game of golf. He had many close friends.
Joe is survived by his adoptive parents, Joe and Dorothy Ginter; and all his wonderful friends.

Lawrence E. Samstad

Lawrence E. Samstad, 'Larry', age 82, of Shakopee. Born May 14, 1930 in Minneapolis, died Sunday January 13, 2013 in Minneapolis at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.
preceded in death by 1st wife, Corrine Paron-Samstad; parents, Elmer Samstad and Anna Mickel; 1 stepson and 1 step-grandson. He will be sadly missed by wife, Bernice Dellwo-Samstad; 11 stepchildren; 22 step-grandchildren.
Graduate of U of M, Civil Engineer, Owner and CEO of Itasca Engineering. He taught structural engineering at the U of M from 1953-1955. Larry's passion in life was civil engineering and watershed management and preservation. Manager, past Administrator and Consulting Engineer for the Lower MN River Watershed District, representing Scott County for 50 years. Sam's Landing in Shakopee was named in honor of his extensive service and contributions to the Lower MN River Watershed District. Visitation Wednesday from 9-10:30 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, all at Church of St. Mary, 535 Lewis Street, Shakopee. Interment St. John the Baptist cemetery, Burnsville.

Leonard L. Wangerin

Leonard L. Wangerin, age 81, of Shakopee, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Born on November 6, 1931, in Parkers Prairie, MN, the son of Herman and Matelina (Melle) Wangerin. Leonard served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Leonard married Edna Kelm on April 21, 1956, in Canada, and together they had 4 children. He was a member of the Local 49 Heavy Equipment Operators for many years. He was employed as an Operating Engineer, and Leonard was an owner of a Heavy Construction Business.
Survived by loving wife, Edna; daughters and son, Sandie (Mark) Plekkenpol, Tami (Mike) Schatz, Debra Wangerin, Mark 'Wangy' (Rebecca) Wangerin; grandchildren, Julie (Ricky) Addie, Kirsten Shumaker, Heidi and Kelli Schatz, Kristina and Mark, Jr. Wangerin; 3 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy R. Shea
10/9/1930 — 1/10/2013
Dorothy R. Shea, age 82, of Shakopee, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at her residence.
Born on October 9, 1930, in Montgomery, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Christine (Hanek) Moravec. Dorothy attended Holy Redeemer and Montgomery High School.
Dorothy married Joseph Shea on November 25, 1947, in Montgomery. They lived in Lonsdale, and moved to Shakopee in 1952. She worked at the St. Paul House in Shakopee from 1953 to 1965, then was employed and managed at Industrial Glove Manufacturing Plant from 1966 to retirement in 1998. She was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4046 in Shakopee. Dorothy was also a member of Church of St. Mary for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Joseph and Christine (Hanek) Moravec; brother, Stanley Moravec; god-daughter, Dona Brown.
Survived by son and daughters, Mick (Linda) of Wasilla, Alaska, Sue (Bob) Rauch of Waterville, Pat (Charlie) Rein of Chaska; grandchildren, Jodi (Dan) Carroll, Brian (Amber) Shea, Chrissy (Scott) Cornelius, Meghan (John) Guidone, and Jessica Rein; great-grandchildren, Karis, Abby, Oliver, Allison, Jeremy, Jacob, Johnny, Olivia, and Lily; sister, Jane (Don) Straub of LeSueur, sisters-in-law, Irene Moravec, Margaret Jahnke, Mary Schmitt, Bonnie Asleson; brother-in-law, Danny Shea.
A special 'thank you' to her River City Centre family for their friendship and love.

John R. Goblish

John Goblish, age 48, of Shakopee, entered eternal life on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at his residence.

John was born December 1, 1964 in Marshall, MN to Henry and Rosie (Blake) Goblish. He was baptized and confirmed at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A graduate of Marshall High School in 1983, John then attended MN West in Granite Falls, becoming certified in Fluid Power Hydraulics. John worked for The Schwan Food Company in Marshall, and Fauver in Minneapolis, which involved trips to Sweden, England, and Alaska.
John was united in marriage to Terry Talley in Minneapolis. To this union were born two sons, Blake and Alex. In 2001 John started his own business, Industrial Hydraulic Services, which he ran from his residence.
John was united in marriage to Robin Bray in Minneapolis on March 27, 2004.
John enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling to many destinations, and hunting and fishing with his dad, brother, sons and wife.
John was a faithful member of St. Mary's Church in Marystown.
He is survived by wife, Robin; sons, Blake of Granite Falls, Alex of Shakopee; father, Henry Goblish and wife, Lorraine of Marshall; brother, Jim Goblish (Paula) of Marshall; sisters; Deb Henline (Bud) of Minneota, Julie Banish (Chad) of Ghent; grandmother; Lucille Blake of Marshall; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Goblish; stepson, Dane; grandparents, Don and Mary Blake, George and Lucy Goblish.

John P. Sopsic
6/19/1940 — 1/4/2013
John P. Sopsic, Sr., age 72, of Shakopee, entered eternal life on Friday, January 4, 2013, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis.
Born in Gary, Indiana, on June 19, 1940, the son of Paul J. and Ethel (Erickson) Sopsic. John married Patricia Homer, and together they had three children.
John's career was a lifetime of local, state, and federal corporate security and welfare. He was a past Commissioner of Public Safety for the State of Minnesota.
preceded in death by loving wife, Patricia; and parents, Paul and Ethel. Survived by sons, Paul and wife, Karen, and John and wife, Jenni; daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Kira and Brooke, Christian, Wyatt; sister, Carol Jean Anderson.
