Francis W. 'Fats' Conrady

Francis W. Conrady, 'Fats', age 91, of Shakopee, died on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Shakopee.
Born on January 12, 1922, in Prior Lake, MN, the son of Louis and Emma (Klingberg) Conrady. He married
Maude Mackey on October 9, 1948, in Shakopee.
Francis served in the Army Air Corps during WWII; he was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4046 in Shakopee. Fats enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and fishing, especially cat fishing.
Survived by wife, Maude; sons and daughters, Tim and wife, Mary, Darrell and wife, Lynn, Susan Beise and husband, Rick, Sherri Anton and husband, John, Shirley Meyers and husband, Jerry, and Scott; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded by son, Francis, Jr.; grandchildren, Josh and Travis.
John E. 'Jack' Ploof

John E. 'Jack', age 79, of Shakopee, entered eternal life on February 26, 2013, at his residence.
Born on April 15, 1933, in Bird Island, Minnesota, the son of John K. and Anna T. (Brunner) Ploof. Jack married
Janice Lund, and together they had 4 children. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2 in Shakopee. Jack was a stand out basketball player in high school, and at the collegiate level for Army. He was offered an athletic scholarship to Louisiana State University but chose to go to St. John's on a full scholarship. After a year at St. John's, the Army team pulled him away ~ where he played and went on to star for them as a high scoring center. Jack was even invited to an Olympic basketball tryout. He enjoyed his Sunday afternoons watching the NFL and NBA. Other interests and hobbies included reading, science and space studies, bowling, and golfing, especially at Dahlgreen Golf Club in Chaska, MN. He enjoyed his time with his friends at the Donut Connection in Shakopee. He was employed by the telephone company for over 43 years. Jack could charm and flirt his way into, and out of, many situations.
Survived by wife, Janice; children, Laurie Ploof, Karie Tuttle and husband, Bob, Jeanne Meyer and husband, Ricky, and John Ploof; grandchildren, Samantha, Bobby, and Jack Tuttle, Jessica Fenlason and husband, Dan, Richard Meyer and wife, Sarah, Amanda Mattson and husband, Brett, Jason Meyer, and Tony Ploof; 7 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Sloane, Landon, Ryan, Mathea, Ruby, and Elijah; siblings, Germaine Weis and husband, Adrian, Joan Undesser and husband, Frank, Eileen Janke and husband, Arlyn, Lois Holt and husband, Stewart, Robert Ploof, Patricia Ploof, Kenneth Ploof and wife, Doreen; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Johnnie Patterson

Johnnie L. 'J.P.' Patterson was born October 27, 1943 in Lando Mines, West Virginia, to John and Pinky (Scott) Patterson. Johnnie was a 32-year employee of Hennepin County Medical Center, Union Steward, Champion Golden Gloves Boxer under Harry Davis, avid Amateur Baseball Player, and starter of Minneapolis Drum Corps, and drummer for Ames Lodge Drum and Bugle Corps. He is survived by his wife, Tonya; children, Johnnie LeRoy Sr. (Joanna) Gurley, of Brooklyn Park, Kelly Gurley, of Minneapolis, Devin Wideman, of Prior Lake, Rejean Wideman, of Prior Lake, Tiarra Wideman, of Prior Lake; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Medlock, and Christine Harrison; sisters-in-law, Jerri Reese and Mary Helen Medlock, all of Minneapolis; and other extended family.
Dennis A. Nelson

Dennis A. Nelson, age 71, of Savage, formerly of Chisago City, died on February 20, 2013, of complications of primary progressive aphasia.
Born on July 11, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Lloyd and Mary Ann (Halsted) Nelson. Dennis served in the United States Navy. He married
Marian Breimhorst on January 7, 1983. He was the owner/manager of appartments in Chisago City; and had been the computer network administrator for Postal Credit Union in North St. Paul.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Marian; mother, Mary Ann; sons, Dean and Bill; step-daughters, RaeAnn Konkol and husband, Jeff, and Terry Hedstrom; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Jerry, and Jack and wife, Arlene; special friends, Jim Lunacek and Gus Fischer. Preceded by daughter, Diane Nelson; father, Lloyd.
Ida F. Lentsch

Ida F. Lentsch, 95, of Burnsville, MN and formerly of Eden, SD passed away on February 16, 2013 in Burnsville, MN. Ida was born February 19, 1917 in Marshall County, South Dakota, to the late John and Katherine (Halbauer) Schuster. She grew up on a farm west of Eden, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and graduated from the Lake City High School in 1936, following which she was employed in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area for a time following graduation.
Ida married
Carl M. Lentsch on October 25, 1938 at Sacred Heart Church, Eden, South Dakota. They farmed for many years on the Lentsch homestead in Day County, before retiring to Eden in 1975. After moving to Eden, Ida was employed at Dakotah, sewing quilts, pillows, and curtains. She enjoyed gardening and canning, and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. During her retirement years she and Carl enjoyed traveling by way of tours to many parts of the country. Carl passed away in 2003. Ida remained in her home until 2008 when she moved to The Rivers Senior Living Community in Burnsville, Minnesota to be near family.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Carl; parents; sisters, Hilda (Ray) Sattler, Alvina (Otto) Heitmann; and brothers, George, William, Lambert, Raymond, Norman, Eugene, son-in-law Raymond Schneider, daughters-in-law Joyce (Allen) Lentsch, and Bonnie (Lester) Lentsch.
She is survived by children: Janice Schneider, Burnsville MN, Allen (Barb) Lentsch, Lilydale, MN, Muriel (James) Hintz, Cottage Grove, MN, Lester Lentsch, Burnsville MN and Dan (Yvonne) Lentsch, Roslyn, SD; brothers: Robert Schuster of Eden and Florenze Schuster of Roslyn; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
David Keith Droen

David Keith Droen, known to his friends as 'Pilot', passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, February 15th, 2013, at U of M Fairview Hospital.
He was born October 15th, 1939, in Sisseton, South Dakota. He graduated from Crookston Central High in 1957 and St. Olaf College in 1962, excelling in chemistry and track. Shortly thereafter, he joined the US Navy and discovered his love of flying. After flight school he served on the USS Bon Homme Richard and Ticonderoga, flying the A-4 Skyhawk. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross among many other commendations and medals. Upon leaving the Navy, David continued flying as a commercial pilot with Northwest Airlines, retiring as captain after 25 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Maggie (Jeff) Williams; grandsons, Nathan and Noah Williams; Maggie's mother, Sandra Thomas; brother, Richard (Idella) Droen; sister, Jeanine Droen; niece, Corrine (Darren) Mann and children Megan and Kristopher; and niece, Kimberly Droen. He was preceded in death by his mother, O. Lillian Droen; and father, Alvin Herbert Droen; infant nephew, James Alvin Droen; maternal grandparents, Marie and Charlie Hanson; paternal grandparents, Emma Droen (Nels) Halvorson; and uncle, Morris (Gertrude) Droen.
David was an avid outdoorsman from a young age. He particularly enjoyed pheasant hunting in the Dakotas as well as halibut and salmon fishing in Alaska. He was also an enthusiastic member of Ducks Unlimited, devoted to preserving natural habitats.
The family wants to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of both Fairview Ridges and Fairview U of M for their outstanding care and compassion.
Francis P. 'Fritz' Doerr

Francis P. 'Fritz' Doerr, 90, of Marystown entered eternal life on February 14, 2013. He passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife Ruth at his side. Fritz said goodbye to his sweetheart on Valentine's Day.
Fritz was born September 2, 1922 in Marystown, MN to Christian S. Doerr and Margaret (Pauly) Doerr. He attended school in Marystown grades one through nine and graduated from Shakopee High School in 1940. Although he was a math whiz and could have pursued higher education, he chose to help with the family farm and trucking business. He worked in trucking from 1941 to 1983, for a time as owner of a milk-truck business and later in the gravel-hauling industry. He helped his father on the farm they owned in South Dakota from 1942 to 1945, during which time he met his bride-to-be, Ruth Marie Gross, a school teacher.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and talked about the excitement of being at Times Square in New York during the VJ Day celebrations in 1946. Fritz Doerr and Ruth Gross became husband and wife on October 7, 1946 during a blizzard in Gettysburg, S.D. It was duck-hunting season, and some of the wedding guests came to church in their camouflage gear. After a planned honeymoon to Canada that fell somewhat short with the newlyweds ending up in Fargo, ND, the young couple settled down in Marystown, which is five miles south of Shakopee, MN.
There they raised four children: Linda, David, Patricia and Michael. When he wasn't trucking, Fritz loved fishing, hunting and working on cars and trucks. Mostly, though, he loved spending time with his family - fishing and swimming at a Prior Lake cabin or ice fishing on Mille Lacs in their trailer-turned fish house.
He loved sports, especially the Vikings {he and Ruth even went to the Vikings Super Bowl game in New Orleans}, the Minnesota Twins (those spring-training games in Florida were the best!) and badminton or ping pong with his kids.
His greatest passion, though was his family. Seeing his wife, kids and grandkids have fun brought huge, beaming smiles to his face. He bought a cabin to bring his loved ones closer together, and it cemented bonds for life. He had a quiet nature and a great sense of humor with a quick wit.
He said the best thing he ever did was marry 'a good woman, ' Ruth, the love of his life. The night before he died, she tucked him in bed, bent over and said into his good ear, 'I love you.' He responded, 'I love you more.'
Deeply missed and always remembered by wife Ruth; children: Linda Noyce and husband Ron of Cambridge, MN; David Doerr and wife Beth of Afton, MN; Patricia Menke and husband Ron of Shakopee; and Michael Doerr of Shakopee; grandchildren Bryan Craig, Brett Craig, Tina Menke, Andy Menke, John Doerr, Joel Doerr, Jennifer Miller, Corisa Peterson, Kelly Anderson, Adria Dee, Cassandra Larson, Jessica Spong, Nicole Doerr, Kimberly Doerr; 25 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Sylvia Doerr; many nieces and nephews.
Richard D. Determan

Richard D. Determan, age 60, of Robbinsdale, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at his residence.
Born on May 21, 1952, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, the son of Ralph and Fern (Briese) Determan. Richard enjoyed working for RISE.
Survived by brothers and sister, Douglas, Carol Abrahamson and husband, Doug, Wayne and friend Sandy Lodermeier, Ronald and wife, Alice, Brian and wife, Carrie; brother-in-law, Bob Spence; uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Preceded by parents, Ralph and Fern Determan; sister, Sharon Spence. A special 'thank you' to Mains'l Services and the caretakers at the Halifax Home.
Loyola A. Marshall

Loyola A. Marshall, age 85, of Pine River, MN, formerly of Shakopee, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN.
Loyola was born on September 2, 1927 in Faribault, MN. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Marshall; sons, Merle (Joan), Frank (Karen) and Joe (Anne); 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Spindler, Anne (Clarence) Swanson; brother, John (Sharon) Glynn; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by and her son, Charles Marshall; parents, Charles and Laura Glynn; brother, Aldon Glynn.
Loy graduated from Mankato State Teachers College, now known as Minnesota State University, Mankato, in 1948 where she earned her degree in teaching. She taught in Madelia, Farmington and Robbinsdale, MN. Loy later moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where she worked as a civilian employee for the United States Navy. On April 25 1959 she was united in marriage to Robert Marshall, in Faribault. They briefly lived in Brainerd after their marriage and later moved to Shakopee to raise their family. Loy worked for Scott County and the City of Shakopee and donated her services above and beyond her job. After the death of Charles, Loy and Bob moved to Pine River where they have lived for the past ten years enjoying their time pontooning and feeding the local wildlife. Loy also enjoyed spending time at their property in Crosslake and shared numerous campfire stories and wiener roasts with the family. Loy also had a deep love for Northern Minnesota, especially trips to Duluth with Bob. Loyola was a very kind and generous person donating her time and money to those less fortunate. Her kindness is indescribable. Loyola will be deeply missed.
Eli J. Von Bank

Eli J. Von Bank, age 89, of Shakopee, died on Friday, October 18, 2013, surrounded by his family, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee, Minnesota.
Eli was born on March 27, 1924, in Jordan, Minnesota, the son of Lawrence and Catherine (Hennes) Von Bank. He married
Helen Theis on September 23, 1947, in Jordan.
Eli worked for Owens Illinois in maintenance.
Survived by wife of 66 years, Helen; 10 daughters and sons, Sharon (Jim) Geiger, Kathy (Steve) Miles, Ken (Kathy), Pete (Kathy), Ron (Jane), Margaret (Mike) Stillman, Joan (Merle) Marshall, Judy (Mark) Medcalf, Joe (Cori), Bev Ries; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Lester (Ruth) Von Bank. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter; brothers, Verdidt and Jim.
