Casey, John Robert
August 30, 1935 - February 12, 2014
Age 78 of Bloomington,died peacefully after a short battle with cancer. Jack was born to James and Eva Casey of Winsted, CT, on Aug. 30, 1935. Active and accomplished in baseball and basketball, Jack played for local community teams before enlisting in the Air Force and serving in the Korean war while stationed in Germany. Upon returning from Germany, Jack met Barbara Boyd; they married
on February 11, 1961. Moving from Winsted, CT, to South Bend, IN, to Montevideo, MN, they had five kids during their marriage. Jack was an avid golfer and passed along the love for the sport to most of his children. Playing golf, going out for dinner, and betting on the horses, were cherished times spent with his friends and kids. While Jack and Barb divorced in the mid-eighties, they remained friends. Jack moved to Salisbury, NC, to pursue another opportunity as a salesman. A consummate one at that, people often told his kids things like “Jack Casey could sell sawdust to the saw mill.” After moving to North Carolina, it was that charm that helped him win the love of Carrol Casey, who he later married
. They spent many happy years together. After a stroke forced his retirement, Jack moved back to Minnesota to be closer to his kids. He spent his time on the golf course, at the horse track, and with his fellow residents at Ridgeview Terrace. He made friends everywhere he went and will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he touched. His Ridgeview Terrace friends appreciated his willingness to help whenever someone needed it -- from moving cars after snowstorms, to driving friends to the doctor, to chauffeuring residents to church. And they’ll never forget his annual tradition of making corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day.Jack is preceded in death by his parents James and Eva and his siblings Dot, Jimmy, and Billy; his step-daughter Mitzi Burke; and his first wife Barbara Hanson. He is survived by his kids Jackie (Joe DeCaluwe), Bill (Kathleen), Sean (Tanya Tiedt and her daughter Evelyn), Meghan (Robert Downey, Jr.), and Erin; honorary Casey kid Tony Bauch, his second wife Carrol Casey; his step-son Alan Burke; and his grandchildren Jacob and Lizzie (who called him Papa Jack) and Madison and Olivia (who called him Hack). Not much for pomp and circumstance, Jack did not want a funeral or to be buried. Age 75 of Oakdale, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Feb. 12, 2014. Will be deeply missed by her children, Paul (Marjorie), Gary, Roy (Stephanie), and Donna (Doug) Davidson; grandchildren, Lindsay, Cayla, Curtis, Courtney, and Caitlyn; great-grandchildren, Jordaan, Liam, and Leigha; sister, Jean. preceded in death by parents, John and Lillian; sisters, Donna, Roberta, and Eileen; brothers, Neil, Jerry, and Martin. Sjodin, Phyllis Anne (nee Hogan)

Age 81 of Elk River, MN. Phyllis was born June 16, 1932, in Omaha, Neb. She married
Dallas McWilliams in 1950. In 1961, she married
Gillette Sjodin in Portland, Ore. They moved to Aitkin and raised their family on the family farm until Gillette’s death in 1976. Phyllis went to LPN school and worked at the Aitkin Community Hospital. She went to the Brainerd College and graduated the RN course in 1985. She moved to the Northwestern suburbs of Minneapolis and worked at Methodist Hospital and North Memorial Hospital working in the baby and delivery area until retiring in 1997. She enjoyed her work at the hospital very much. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and then the great-grandchildren that came later. She loved reading and joined a quilting club at her apartment complex. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Aitkin. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Aitkin also. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Gillette; son Dallas (Pete); daughter, Denise; stepson, Larry; parents and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Michael (Carol) McWilliams, Aitkin; daughters, Linda Anderson, Hugo; and Annette Weimer, Elk River; and stepsons, Gary and Ron McWilliams, Conway, Ark.; grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley, Mark, Heather, Emily, Lee (Nikki) and Jill (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Addie, Maycie and Lucas; sister, Deedee (George), Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aitkin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, with Pastor Cindy Gray officiating. A memorial service will be held at the Guardian Angels Apartment at a later date, to be determined. Burial will be in the spring.

Age 84 of Roseville, MN. Born in Kalispell, MT and raised in Bigfork, MT. preceded in death by wife, Donna; parents, Albert and Margaret Pierce. Survived by sons Rick (Julie), Dan, and Brian Pierce; grandchildren Andrew (Kara) Pierce, Melinda, and Karen Pierce; great-grandson, Andrew James Pierce, sister, Jane Fagerland; cousin, Ron (Carol) Pierce. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the family photographer, an avid golfer, master of the barbecue grill, and an enthusiastic (although unsuccessful) fisherman. He never gave up on his beloved Minnesota Vikings. He loved summers on the St. Croix River and winters in Siesta Key, FL. He was quiet, with a dry sense of humor, and a great big heart. He tenderly cared for his wife of 58 years, Donna, until she passed away one month prior to his death, and we are happy they are now reunited. Al attended Edison Technical College in Seattle, WA, and was then hired by UNIVAC (later Unisys) in St. Paul, where he worked for over 30 years. He was a member of the Roseville Lions and Roseville Jaycees, and volunteered at Roseville Lutheran Church. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Eaglecrest Arbor and Optage Hospice for their loving care of Al. A celebration of his life will be held at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 Roselawn Ave. W., Roseville, on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following. Memorials preferred to Alzheimer's Association , Animal Humane Society, American Cancer Society , or Roseville Lutheran Church.

Gene Tolzmann on March 22, 1969. Linda is survived by children, Kelly, Jon, Michelle; grandchildren, Tishawna, Kyle, Colby, Anthony, and Savannah; siblings, Gilbert, Nancy, Patrice, David, Steven, Sherry, Carla, and Denise; many other relatives and friends. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Gene. Linda enjoyed playing cards and had a good sense of humor. Linda will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be at Woodale Church, 6630 Shady Oak Road, Eden Prairie on Friday, 2/14 at 11AM with a visitation 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

She gave birth to her beautiful son Aiden on June 7, 2011. She was an athlete and excelled in little league baseball and volleyball during middle school. She was attending Hennepin Technical College while working at Applebee's. She will always be remembered for her contagious smile. Alyssa is survived by her loving family, son, Aiden; her mother, Khristi; father, Rory, and brother, Derek Denison.
