Age 54 of Maplewood. Loving Mother, Sister, Friend Passed with devoted son and loving family at her side after a courageous battle with Breast Cancer. She will be deeply missed by loving son Kyle McLean (Megan Shanahan), brothers David (Carol), Mark (Cathy), sister Terry Logajan (Gery), nieces, nephews, family, friends and co-workers. She loved her work as a surgical tech. at St. John's hospital. Was preceded in death by parents Ralph and Geraldine McLean. Age 78 of Coon Rapids, formerly of Mora. Born February 19, 1936, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Home on the 25th of October. Survived by sister, Carole Duback; son Craig (Debra) Bagne; daughter Carin (Ken) Snell; grandchildren Brooke (Richard), Travis, Kayti, Mady, Hannah, Danielle, Alex, and Sarah; great grandchildren Jackson, Payton, and Skylar and many other relatives and friends. Bengtson, Ellen Loretta (nee Reiten)

Age 67 of Minneapolis MN, passed away Friday, October 24. She died peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Home surrounded by family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Granite Falls City cemetery on Sunday, Nov 2 at 2 PM with fellowship to follow at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Sacred Heart. Ellen was born on May 30th, 1947 to Melvin and Annamae (Roudebush) Reiten of Granite Falls, MN. Ellen was baptized at Congregational Church in Granite Falls and confirmed Hawk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Sacred Heart, MN. She graduated from Granite Falls High School, and later attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Golden Valley, MN. She received a B.A. in Sociology from Winona State University. Ellen dedicated her life to helping others as Senior Advocate in Winona MN, and other vocations serving seniors and people with disabilities. Most recently, Ellen volunteered at the Little Kitchen Food Shelf in Minneapolis MN. In addition to the people she served, animals of all stripes held a place in Ellen's heart, and she spent many hours volunteering for The Humane Society of Winona MN and Compassionate Action for Animals of Minneapolis MN. Ellen is survived by her children Erik Bengtson and Brita Bengtson, both of Minneapolis, MN, and by siblings Odell Reiten, Wayne (Lois) Reiten, Harry (Marti) Reiten, Joyce (Mark) Bigaouette. Memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Home, Little Kitchen Food Shelf, or Compassionate Action for Animals.

Age 92 of Brooklyn Center, MN, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2014. Born August 10, 1922 in Hanna, WY. preceded in death by parents Zenjuro and Yoriko; husband Harry; brothers Fred and Roy. Spanning five family generations, she is forever remembered by her: son Robert (DeDe Van Slyke); grandson Nathan (Amanda); great grandchildren Alanna, Jude, and Aubrey; grandson Philip (Katie), great grandchildren Ellie and Noah, and Angi (Aaron) Anika Van Slyke-Crouch; and also by brother Henry. Private family observance and interment at Fort Snelling National cemetery, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The American Heart Association preferred. Living from her Christian faith and her heart, she quietly inspired love and caring in the lives of others. To all her cherished family and friends, there is gratitude. Following a gathering of families, she passed peacefully from this world into the loving embrace of God, who is our hope.

Age 97 of Superior, WI. Born Nov. 30, 1916 in Marengo, WI and passed away Oct. 23, 2014 in Minneapolis, MN. preceded in death by parents, siblings, husband, Joseph; her sons, Edward, Paul, and John; grandson, Johnny. Survived by grandchildren, Angela "Hershey", Joe & Nils Lima and Randy Lima; daughter-in-law, Ann Reeves; other family, Peter, Irene, Cathy, and Lonna and others lost to time and distance. Gertie had been active in Grandmothers for Peace, read & worked for Työmies (the Worker) Newspaper, and always voted in elections. She loved music, her cat Mina, and in her youth, dancing. She was an excellent hostess: visiting her home was always a warm and happy occasion. A small memorial will be held later this month.

Age 94 of St Paul died after a five year struggle with Alzheimer's. preceded in death by parents Christopher Dillon and Mary Foley O'Brien, siblings Christopher, Mary Louise, Thomas, Jessie, Craig. Survived by wife of 67 years Polly, children: Sandy & Judy & their children Drew (Carrie Valverde), Tara (Rob) Cain, Katie (Benjamin) Dillon; Craig & Maureen & their family; Elizabeth & Olav & their family; 8 great grandchildren many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael's great grandparents came from Ireland and settled on Madeline Island in 1857. A lifelong St Paul resident, Michael attended St Paul Academy and enlisted in the Army Air Force and became a B-24 pilot during WWII. He was awarded the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. Following the war, Michael became the luckiest man in St Paul when he met Polly Goodrich of Winnetka, Il. They were married
in 1947 and raised their family in Highland Park. Michael had a career in the insurance business and pursued his other great loves (in addition to his wife and family): flying, spending summers on his beloved Madeline Island, lawn mowers, extra thick chocolate malts, Polly's chocolate sauce, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, Hershey Bars, Milky Ways, well you get the idea . The family wishes to express its utmost gratitude to all the staff at the Minnesota Vet's Home, Building 19, 2nd Floor, Willow Way, for the wonderful, diligent and sensitive care they provided to Michael and all the veterans in their care. A memorial service will be held at Mendakota Country Club on Wednesday, November 5, 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Gillette Children's Hospital or choice of donor.

Age 55 of Mounds View, went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2014. Survived by loving wife, Christine; son, Luke; parents, Donald Sr. and Blossom of St. Anthony Village; sister, Lynn (Steve) Spencer of Skokie, Illinois; many other relatives and friends. Donald was a graduate of the Univ. of MN before attending Dallas Theological Seminary and later graduating from Trinity Seminary in Deerfield, Ill. He and Christine Vrieze were married
on Nov. 9, 1996. Don was involved with Equipping the Saints Ministry (Navigators) for several years and then began his own ministry, Fillin’ the House Ministry. Don was diagnosed with lung cancer on August 7, 2014. Funeral service Saturday, Oct. 18, 10:30 AM at GracePoint church, 2351 Rice Creek Rd, New Brighton. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Sunset Memorial cemetery followed by lunch at GracePoint. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family preferred. The family thanks Dr. Feist and the staffs from the U of M Medical Center, Crest View Nursing Home, and Our Lady of Peace Hospice.

Age 87 Arden Hills As of October 15th I'm somewhere over the rainbow waiting to see my children (Kathy, Joe, Nancy), husband (Bob), parents (Rose & Rex), brother (Jerry) and grandson (Ben). I send a big hug to my card playing buddies and all my friends. A very special good-bye to my brother, Jim who has always been there for me. And to my son, Jerry, who has been with me all the way; whom I love dearly. Please give a hug and kiss to all my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
