Michael Steven Morgan, 52, Breckenridge, Minn., formerly of Tintah, Minn., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge. Arrangements are pending with Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
Vincent F. Stach, 82
Vincent F. Stach, 82, rural Rothsay, Minn., died Dec. 20, 2008, at his residence.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, N.D., with the Rev. Dale Lagodinski officiating.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton, with a Rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic cemetery, Kent, Minn.
Pallbearers are Les Bruce, Tim Mohs, Lyle VanTassel, Gary VanTassel, Randy Nordick, Jeff Nordick
Honorary Pallbearers: His god-son Ronald Mohs, and all who called Vince “friend.”
Vincent Ferdinand Stach was born to Gustave and Catherine (Zeimetz) Stach on April 4, 1926, near Wolverton, Minn. He attended District 21 country school near Wolverton, and grew up helping on the Stach family farm. Vincent entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 25, 1945, where he served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and Japan until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 6, 1946. After working a few odds jobs, he started farming with his brother George, in Nilsen Township, 12 miles northeast of Breckenridge, Minn.
Vincent was united in marriage to Marian (Burgard) Paur on July 20, 1970, and became an instant father of her four children. To this union with Marian two children were born. In 1975 he bought his own farm where he currently resided. Marian died Jan. 8, 1987. He retired from farming the spring of 1988.
On April 1, 1989, Vincent married
Lois Stelton at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton and expanded his family with her five children. He continued living on the farm with Lois until his death.
In life he really enjoyed hunting and fishing and took many trips with family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing, family reunions, traveling and playing lots of cards, especially with his neighbor, and good friend, Les Bruce.
He was a life time member of Woody Keeble VFW Post 4324 in Wahpeton. He was also a member of Legion Post 20, Eagles Club Aerie 2749, and the Buffalo Club all of Wahpeton, and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Breckenridge.
He is survived by: his wife Lois of 19 years; his son, Randy (Michelle) Stach and their son, Thomas of Breckenridge; his daughter, Connie Stach and her children, Heather Stach and Crystal Bridgers also of Breckenridge; his step children, James Stelton of Wahpeton, Dr. Dennis (Angel) Stelton of Dallas, Texas, Steve Stelton of Bismarck, N.D., Catherine (Daryl) Wilkins of Grand Forks, N.D., Judith (Jerry) Raftevold of Little Falls, Minn., Jerry (Nancy) Paur of Hawley, Minn., Arlene (Steve) Hanson of Breckenridge, Dan (Shelly) Paur of Falcon, Colo., Jeff (Shar) Paur of Breckenridge; his three adopted children, Linda (Kevin) Melkert of Breckenridge, Victor (Joyce) Stach of Vergas, Minn., Kenneth (Marge) Stach of Madison, Wis.; 16 step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren; his brother, William Stach; and sisters, Leona Mills and MaryAnn Mohs.
He was preceded in death by: his wife Marian of 17 years; his adopted son Tom Stach; and brothers, Emil, George, Leo, Henry, Harold, Gustave; and two sisters, Minnie Knutson and Elsie Powelson.
Nellie Herman, 96
Nellie Herman, 96, Fergus Falls, Minn., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 in the Light and Life Auditorium at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Immanuel cemetery at Cayuga, N.D.
Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements for Nellie Herman.
Michael Steven Morgan, 52
Michael Steven Morgan, 52, of Breckenridge, Minn., formerly of Tintah, Minn., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge, following a heart attack.
Funeral will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22 at St. Gall’s Catholic Church in Tintah, with Rev. Andrew Marthaler and Rev. Arlie Sowada officiating.
Visitation will be held in Tintah from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Gall’s Catholic Church. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at St. Gall’s Catholic cemetery, Tintah.
Michael Steven Morgan was born Nov. 19, 1956, in Breckenridge, the son of Robert and Jean (Thoennes) Morgan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Gall’s Catholic Church in Tintah and graduated from Campbell-Tintah High School in 1975. He attended Moorhead Technical College and received a degree in carpentry in 1978. Michael later moved to Omaha, Neb., and worked as a diesel mechanic. From there he moved to Denver, Colo., and worked with his brother, Pat. Mike and Pat were certified diesel mechanics and were considered the best in their field in the Denver metro area. Many trucking firms requested their expertise.
In 1998, Mike moved back home to Minnesota and worked for Klein Farms near Breckenridge. There he operated a custom combing crew every summer, from Texas up to the Dakotas. Mike was a very diligent worker and took pride in everything he did.
Mike enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. He was interested in astronomy and the space shuttle missions and had numerous collectable books. He loved to watch the History channel, National Geographic and Discovery. His greatest passion was his work. He enjoyed getting in his truck and hauling John Deere equipment.
He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Morgan, Fargo, N.D.; his brothers, James “Patrick” (Vicki) Morgan, Thornton, Colo., Joseph Morgan, Underwood, Minn., John (Kristi) Morgan, Lake Park, Minn., Jason Morgan, Breckenridge; his sisters, Mary Kay (Terry) Rufer, Buffalo, Minn., Michelle (Doug) Sogge, Greeley, Colo., Eileen (Tim) Eiter, Mentor, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Morgan.
Helen Borden Church, 75
Helen Borden Church, Henning, Minn., 75, died peacefully July 17, 2008, in Colorado from colon cancer.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 625 3rd St NW, Wadena, MN 56482 at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug 16. The family wishes any memorials to be sent here.
Helen was born in Dardanelle, Ark., to Al and Rose Borden, the oldest of five children. She graduated from high school in Battle Creek, Mich., and Beloit College in Wis., then U of M Dental College. In 1955, she began work as a dental hygienist in Tecumseh, Mich., married
Robert Mohr, had three children and moved to Battle Creek. Helen moved her family to Wahpeton, N.D., in 1966 where she taught dental hygiene at the State School of Science. She remarried
in 1974 to Eddie Church, but soon widowed. She moved to teach at the Technical College in Wausau, Wis. In 1979 she became legal guardian of teenage daughter, Melanie. She retired in 1995.
After much study of the Bible, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975. She loved helping other people learn the Bible and was very active in the ministry. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalms 83:18, letting people know that God has a personal name.
Helen was known for her loving generosity and opening her home on West Battle Lake to many, many friends. She loved gardening and sharing her raspberries and strawberries with everyone. Her faithful dog companion, Tiffany went everywhere with her, even windsurfing. The family would like to thank all her friends for their very kind love and support throughout all these years.
She is survived by: her children and their spouses, Kathy and John Redmond, Tom and Leslie Mohr, David and Christy Mohr, and Melanie and Todd Chilsen; eight grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Alec, Caroline, Julie and Bobby.
Helen was preceded in death by both husbands.
Henry Edward (Hank) Sussenguth, 77
Henry Edward (Hank) Sussenguth, 77, Keizer, Ore., died Aug. 3, 2008, after a long, difficult episode of congestive heart failure.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at Keizer Funeral Chapel, Sunday, Aug. 10 with a celebration of life to follow at McNary Golf Course.
He was born in Breckenridge, Minn., the first born of twin boys, fourth and fifth, in a family of nine children. His parents Harold and Mary, were of good hardworking German heritage, and passed those virtues to their children.
In 1952, he moved to Oakland, Calif., where he found employment with S&W Fine Foods. At the time of his retirement 40 years later, as a senior buyer, he was responsible for $5 million in food products.
He lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed everything he was involved in, impressing others with his integrity, compassion, generosity and loving heart.
Henry is survived by: twin brother Harold (Calexico, Mexico), Doris Armstrong, Willmar, Minn., Donna (Doug) Johnson, Staples, Minn., Mary (Roger) Turnquist, Willmar, Neil (Val) Sussenguth, Willmar, and Sally DeSantos, Burnsville, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; wife, Louise; his children Jennifer (Ron), Jeffrey (Patti), and those who became his children through marriage, Judith, Ronald and Susan; and his grandchildren, Daniel, Jason, Scarlette, Billy, Nicholas and Ryan, will love him and miss him forever.
Hank was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters; and a brother-in-law.

Kari (Anderson) Matthews, 28, of Lakeville, Minn., formerly of Breckenridge, Minn., died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Fairview-Ridges Hospital in Lakeville. Arrangements are being handled by Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
