Eric Shelquist

BAGLEY, Minn. -- Eric Shelquist, 26, Bagley, died Monday, July 10, 2000, near Gonvick, Minn.

Eric Shelquist was born May 31, 1974, the son of Michael and Joyce (Swenson) Shelquist, in Bagley, where he graduated from high school in 1992. He worked on the pipeline. He received fusing lining in 1995, and worked as a foreman for Mueller Pipeline in Ohio, Hawaii, Indiana and St. Cloud, Minn., until 1999.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Meyers, Bagley; his stepfather, Michael Meyers, Bagley; sisters, Naomi Olson, Bagley; a brother, Jacob Olson, Bagley; stepfather, Bruce Olson, Rapid City, S.D.; stepbrother, Garrett Meyers, Bemidji; and grandparents, LeRoy and Eldora Shelquist, Dahlen, N.D., Leona and Bill Lindberg, Fertile, Minn., and Eva Meyers, Menahga, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Oliver Edith Swenson, Dwight "Whitey" Olson and Peter Meyers.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Faith Lutheran Church, Bagley.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. family service, in the church.

Burial: Zion Lutheran cemetery, Bagley (Cease, Bagley).

Ebba Grindahl

ROSEAU, Minn. -- Ebba Grindahl, 87, Roseau, died Monday, July 10, 2000, in Sheltering Oaks Manor, Roseau.

Ebba Onora Ruth Swanson was born Dec. 12, 1912, the daughter of Aron and Gina (Anderson) Swanson, in Stafford Township, Roseau County, Minn. She attended school in Wannaska, Minn. She moved to Roseau, where she worked at a Laundromat. She married John Grindahl on Feb. 27, 1942, in Grand Forks. They lived in Roseau. She worked at Nelson's Cafe as a pastry baker. John Grindahl died in 1980.

She is survived by sons, Roy (Rosie), Norwalk, Calif., Roger, Jensen Beach, Fla., and Raymond (Gayle), Roseau; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys (Bernard) Anderson, Boone, Iowa, and Randa (Alfred) Lind, Salol, Minn.; and a brother, James Swanson, Central Point, Ore.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Phillipe, Cora Olmstead; and brothers, Arnold and Orvel.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Moe Lutheran Church, Roseau.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau.

Burial: Malung cemetery, Roseau.

Elaine Foley

HALSTAD, Minn. -- Elaine Foley, 88, Halstad, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at home.

C. Elaine Jaeger was born Oct. 26, 1911, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Scheller) Jaeger, in Hankinson, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She moved to Fargo. She married Mel Ness on Oct. 30, 1933, in Fargo. He died in 1958. She worked as a retail clerk in the Fargo area. She married Larry Foley on Oct. 5, 1974, in Fargo. They lived in Halstad.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Bradley, Tucson, Ariz., and Charles (Lori), Peoria, Ariz.; daughters, Mary (David) Aune, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Elizabeth (Don) Warrenburg, Ada, Minn.; six grandchildren; brothers, George (Aquileia), Fargo, and Don (Lois), Minneapolis; and a sister, Toni (Charles) Collins, Big Forks, Mont.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Anton, Jake and John; and sisters, Mary Jaeger, Rose McKeon and Angie Lybarger.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Holy Family Catholic Church, Halstad.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in the church.

Burial: 2: 30 p.m. Thursday, St. Philips Catholic cemetery, Hankinson, N.D. (Fredrikson, Halstad).

James Anderson

RICHFIELD, Minn. -- James A. Anderson, 71, Richfield, died June 21, 2000.

James A. Anderson was born the son of Anton and Lillian (Selle) Anderson, in Stephen, Minn. He attended country school in Argyle, Minn. He attended the agriculture college in Crookston. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He also served in the Naval Reserves for 32 years. He worked at Page Charter Airways as a maintenance manager, until his retirement. He married Janice Knutson on Oct. 27, 1954, in Oslo, Minn. She died in 1989. He married Marie Emerson.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jeffery (Suzanne), Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a daughter, Jayne (Mat) Nolden, Eagaen, Minn.; step children, Charles Emerson, Jim (Mary) Emerson, and Karen (Craig) Benson; five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; a step great-grandson; brothers, Vernon (Sally), Warren, Minn., and, Harold (Dolly), Greenbush, Minn.; and a sister, Delerine Amundgaard, Warren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence.

Services: Were held in Richfield.

Burial: Fort Snelling, St. Paul.

Marshall Muirhead

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Marshall G. Muirhead Sr., 75, Bemidji, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at home.

Marshall George Muirhead was born July 12, 1924, the son of Robert and Hilda (Hoff) Muirhead, in St. Paul. He grew up in Hutchinson, Minn. He graduated from high school in 1942. He married Jeanne Sheppard on June 18, 1943, in Hutchinson. He joined the Army and was discharged in 1946. He attended the University of Minnesota. In 1949, they moved to Little Falls, Minn., where he worked for Creamery Package. They lived in Centerville and Sauk Center, Minn., where he was a sales representative for Standard Oil. They lived in Hutchinson from 1955 to 1964, when he owned and operated a Standard Oil station. In 1964, they moved to Bemidji. He was the manager of the Holiday Store until 1973, when they moved to Thousand Oaks, Calif. He worked for Halwood and Chase Brothers. They returned to Bemidji in 1981.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Marshall, Bemidji; daughters, Judy (Dennis) Sundvall, Jaclyn (Pat) Whiting, both of Bemidji, and Kathy Jo Muirhead, Benson, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a grandson; and a sister, June Wische.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Bethel Lutheran Church.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Cease Family Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Greenwood cemetery, Bemidji.

Military Rites: American Legion. Memorial are suggested to Bethel Lutheran Church or North Country Hospice, Bemidji.

Walter Johnson

WARREN, Minn. -- Walter C. Johnson, 79, Warren, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in the Good Samaritan Center, Warren.

Walter C. Johnson was born Nov. 7, 1920, the son of Gust and Tina (Jorgenson) Johnson, in Argyle, Minn. He married Mary Sabol on Nov. 14, 1946, in Warren. They lived and farmed in Argyle. They moved to Warren in 1975 after he retired.

He is survived by his wife; a sister, Lucille (Robert) Bren, Angus, Minn.; and a brother, George, Warren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Warren.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Quanrud-DuBore, Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Calvary cemetery, Warren.
