Edna Dyer

FOSSTON, Minn. -- Edna Dyer, 91, Fosston, formerly of Cody, Wyo. and Missoula, Mont., died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in First Care Nursing Home, Fosston.

Edna May Myers was born April 30, 1909, the daughter of Guy and Lillian Myers in Belleville, Kan. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Harold and Emma Ackey, after her parents died. She grew up and attended school in Bozeman, Mont. She married Kenneth Dyer on Nov. 3, 1933, in Bozeman. They lived in Cody. They owned and operated a hotel in Hamilton, Mont. She worked as a florist in Cody for several years. After their retirement, they lived in several locations, including, Calgary, Canada, Washington, Florida, Montana and Ohio. Kenneth Dyer died in 1998. She moved to Fosston in 1999.

She is survived by sons, Kent (Mary), Englewood, Ohio., and Garry, Missoula.; son-in-law, Donald Sutherland, Fosston; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elwyne; brothers, Harold, Wylie and Ralph; and a sister, Lillian (Carlin-Hoialmen, Fosston).

Mark Christianson

HALSTAD, Minn. -- Mark Christianson, 41, Fargo, formerly of Halstad, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at home.

Mark Howard Christianson was born July 19, 1959, the son of Howard and Mary (Moe) Christianson, in Ada, Minn. He grew up and graduated from high school in Halstad, in 1977. He attended North Dakota State University, where he received a bachelors of science degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as an engineer for several manufacturing companies throughout the mid-west. He also owned and operated a grain farm near Halstad.

He is survived by his parents, Halstad; a brother, Tom (Diane), Princeton, Ill.; and sisters, Jill (Jon) Carlson, Climax, Minn., and Beth (Doug) Christianson-Melby, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Halstad Lutheran Church.

Family service: 9: 30 a.m. Saturday until services in the church.

Burial: South Halstad Lutheran cemetery (Anderson, Twin Valley, Minn.).

Lucille Wesolowski

WARREN, Minn. -- Lucille Wesolowski, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Lucille Grembowski was born on Dec. 13, 1914, the daughter Mike and Minnie (Gornowicz) Grembowski, in Grafton, N.D. She lived in the Warsaw, N.D. area. She married Isadore Wesolowski on Jan. 26, 1937, in Warsaw. They lived near Grafton and Stephen, Minn., before moving to Warren, Minn., in 1950. They farmed in Warren. Isadore Wesolowski died June 4, 1992.

She is survived by children, Marlene (Robert) Tureson and Adrian (Mary), both of Warren, Audrey (Harold) Slager, Beltrami, Minn., and Sharon (Eugene) Valley, St. Paul; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Duray, Grand Forks, and Cristine Nowacki, Warren; and brothers, Julian Grembowski, Crookston, and Michael Grembowski, Grand Forks.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Emil; and sisters, Minnie and Saraphine.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Warren.

Visitation: After 5 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services, all in the church.

Burial: Calvary cemetery, Warren (Quanrud-DuBore, Warren).

Russell Olson

ERSKINE, Minn. -- Russell Olson, 81, Erskine, formerly of Mentor, Minn., died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Pioneer Memorial Care Center, where he had lived since March 28, 1996.

Russell Truman Olson was born Dec. 16, 1918, the son of John and Ida (Camp) Olson, in Tilden Township, Polk County, Minn., where he attended school. He lived and farmed on the family farm for several years. He also worked for Tilden Township plowing snow and blading roads for 11 years. In December 1995, he moved to Red Lake Falls.

He is survived by a brother, Art (Evelyn), Mentor.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Pioneer Memorial Care Center Chapel, Erskine.

Visitation: One hour before services in the chapel.

Burial: First English Lutheran cemetery, Mentor (Johnson, Red Lake Falls, Minn.).

Donald King

HALMA, Minn. -- Donald D. King, 48, Halma, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock, Minn.

Donald D. King was born Feb. 16, 1952, the son of John and Eileen (Ford) King, in Crookston. He grew up in Euclid, Minn., and attended school in Crookston. He married Linda Sorenson on Sept. 16, 1972, in Thief River Falls. They lived in East Grand Forks, Angus and Newfolden, Minn. They moved to Halma in 1981. He worked construction and did grain elevator repair. He worked for Vigen Construction, East Grand Forks, Rusten and Pflaum, Cavalier, N.D., LaMar Johnson, Kennedy, Minn., and Folland Construction, Halma.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Jason, Lake Bronson, Minn., Chad, Thief River Falls, and Shawn (T.R.), Baudette, Minn.; daughters, Jennifer, Halma, and Jessica, Greenbush, Minn.; two grandchildren; his mother, Angus; brothers, Thomas (Debbie), Belvedere, Ill., and Robert (Sharon) Buckingham, Ill., and Edward (Arlene), Crookston; and sisters, Mary (Mike) Glanner, Grafton, N.D., Linda (Ronnie) Maszk, Grand Forks, Alice Whitehead, Crookston, Carol (Dean) Bjelde and Patricia (Tom) Holweger, both of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Duane; and a sister, Judy.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Eidsvold Lutheran Church, Halma.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock.

Burial: Westaker cemetery, Newfolden.

Ilton Thorpe

MAHNOMEN, Minn. -- Ilton S. Thorpe, 81, Mahnomen, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home, where he has lived for several years.

Ilton Sylvester Thorpe was born Jan. 22, 1919, the son of Simon and Ida (Lien) Thorpe, in Twin Valley, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1937. He married Helen Kroshus on Dec. 11, 1941, in Ada, Minn. In 1951, they bought a farm near Mahnomen, where they farmed until retiring in 1987. In 1996, they moved to Mahnomen.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Ilton Jr. (Carol) and Jerry (Kathy); both of Mahnomen; and a daughter, Karen (Tim) Lecy, Mahnomen; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; a brother; and a sister.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, First Lutheran Church, Mahnomen.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Anderson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: First Lutheran cemetery, Mahnomen.

Henry Van Heel

ROSEAU, Minn. -- Henry Van Heel, 96, Roseau, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in Roseau Area Hospital.

Henry Van Heel was born Oct. 2, 1904, the son of Henry and Anna Van Heel, in Freeport, Minn. He farmed in Freeport until he retired. He married Cecelia (Olson) Chrzanowski on Aug. 13, 1977. They lived in Roseau.

He is survived by his wife; stepson, Mitch (Sandy) Chrzanowski, Roseau; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Melvin) Swanson, Milaca, Minn.; five step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alvina Hoope, Albany, Minn.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Gieseke Funeral Chapel, Greenbush, Minn.

Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.

Burial: Nannestad cemetery, Badger, Minn.
