Mabel Hagl
RED LAKE FALLS, Minn. -- Mabel M. Hagl, 85, Red Lake Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, where she had lived since Sept. 1, 2000.
Mabel May Marwitz was born Jan. 21, 1915, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Schwechel) Marwitz, in Brooks, Minn. She grew up and attended school in Mentor, Minn. She married
Paul Hagl on Feb. 27, 1933, in Terrebonne, Minn. They lived and farmed near Red Lake Falls. In 1947, they moved into Red Lake Falls. Paul Hagl died Dec. 25, 1987.
She is survived by children, Kenneth and Douglas (Louella) Hagl, both of Red Lake Falls and Dorothy (Gusty) Samsa, Chisholm, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Wolf, San Diego; and sisters, May Pamperine, Camanche, Iowa, and Eva Kopsill, Barnesville, Minn.
She was preceded in death by a son, Duane; brothers, William, Theodore, Carl, Fritz, Robert and Herman; sisters, Melvina Godhamer, Lena Firust, Ella Tillman, Ida Moll and Alice Marwitz; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Hagl.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Johnson Funeral Service, Red Lake Falls, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
Virginia Rinerson
ADA, Minn. -- Virginia E. Rinerson, 86, Ada, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Virginia Eleanor Kuder was born Jan. 1, 1914, the daughter of William and Emma (Stensgaard) Kuder, in Salamonia, Ind. She attended school in Ada. She worked in several cafes in the Ada area, baby-sat, and worked as a seamstress. She married
Arnold Rinerson in Ada. She also cared for several foster children.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Richard) Hanen, Burnsville, Minn.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William; and a brother, Hugo.
Services: 11 a.m. today, Grace Lutheran Church.
Visitation: One hour before services.
Burial: Ada Municipal cemetery (Fredrikson, Ada).
Agnes Kveen
ROSEAU, Minn. -- Agnes C. Kveen, 87, Roseau, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Sheltering Oaks Manor, Roseau.
Agnes Cecelia Olson was born Sept. 20, 1913, the daughter of Alfred and Serine (Skjager) Olson, in Salol, Minn. In 1918, she moved with her parents to Redfield, S.D., where she attended school. In 1929, she moved to Roseau. She married
Gordon Kveen on Aug. 18, 1937, in Roseau, where they lived. She worked for Alley's Grocery Store and later for Red Owl Grocery for 30 years. Gordon Kveen died in 1985.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Fast, Roseau; a son, Donald (Cheryl), Roseau; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jennie Strandlie, Roseau.
She was preceded in death by a grandson; a sister, Gladys Hagen; and a brother, Other (Bake).
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Moe Lutheran Church, Roseau.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with an 8 p.m. devotional service, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Moe-Rose cemetery, Roseau.
Leora Paquin
MENTOR, Minn. -- Leora Paquin, 95, Mentor, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, Minn., where she had lived since March 19, 1999.
Leora Louise Krueger was born May 12, 1905, the daughter of William and Louise (Gerlach) Krueger, in Red Lake Falls, Minn., where she graduated from high school in 1922. She attended UND and taught in Red Lake County. She married
Arthur Paquin on Dec. 30, 1936, in Argyle, Minn. They lived in McIntosh and Erskine, Minn. In 1943, they moved to East Grand Forks. Arthur Paquin died Dec. 15, 1971. She moved to Mentor in 1987.
She is survived by sons, Richard (Debbie) and David (Nancy), both of Mentor; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bette McAnulty.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hance.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church, Mentor.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Johnson Funeral Service, Red Lake Falls, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Resurrection cemetery, East Grand Forks.
Richard Lewis
SHEVLIN, Minn. -- Richard Lewis, 69, Shevlin, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Richard Edward Lewis was born Oct. 28, 1931, the son of Frank and Mary (Heath) Lewis, in Fort Wayne, Ind. He attended school in Fort Wayne and Angola, Ind. He married
Avangeline Riddle on Nov. 20, 1950, in Auburn, Ind. In 1957, they moved to Camden, Mich., and in 1991, to Alton, Mo. In 1993, they moved to Bagley. He worked as a machinist until retiring.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Mary (Harold) Ash, Shevlin, and Eve (David) Hickman, Kaleva, Mich.; sons, R.J. (Heidi) and Matthew (Mavis), both of Bagley; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, David (Anita), Berian Springs, Mich.
He was preceded in death by a sister; and a brother.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Minerva cemetery, Bagley (Cease, Bagley).
Evelyn Nelson
OSLO, Minn. -- Evelyn Nelson, 92, Oslo, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Warren, Minn., where she had lived since 1997.
Evelyn Haugen was born March 12, 1908, the daughter of Ed and Fannie (Cotton) Haugen, in Bigwoods Township, Marshall County, Minn., where she attended school. She graduated from high school in Warren. She married
Hjalmer Nelson on Nov. 3, 1926, in Warren. They lived on a farm until 1979, when they moved into Oslo. Hjalmer Nelson died May 20, 1982. She moved to East Grand Forks in 1995.
She is survived by a son, Norman (Rae Ann), Oslo; daughters, Ina Mae (Russell) Johnson, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Mary (Paul) Swenson, Fargo; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald; a brother, John; and a sister, Florence.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, Zion Lutheran Church, Oslo.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oak Park cemetery, Oslo (Stennes, East Grand Forks).
