Harry Stoffel
BADGER, Minn. -- Harry L. Stoffel, 85, Badger, died Aug. 10, 2000, at home.
Harry Lawrence Stoffel was born April 6, 1915, the son of Henry and Julia (Hendrickson) Stoffel, in Barnett Township, Roseau County, Minn., where he attended school. He farmed all his life. He served in the U.S. Army from April 16, 1942 to Oct. 8, 1943.
He is survived by his sister, Louise Lins, Greenbush, Minn.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Anne Haase, Cecelia Anderson, Gertrude Stranger, Pete, John and Laverne.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Nannestad cemetery, Badger.
Patricia Fish
ROOSEVELT, Minn. -- Patricia J. Fish, 59, Roosevelt, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Lakewood Health Center, Baudette, Minn.
Patricia Jean Stadnisky was born July 2, 1941, the daughter of Paul and Jeanne (Gluck) Stadnisky, in Scranton, Pa. She moved with her family to New York City, where she attended school. She married
Dennis Fish on May 20, 1961, in Newark, N.J. They lived in Newark until 1969, when they moved to Chilgren Township, Roseau County, Minn. She worked in the Roosevelt and Warroad areas.
She is survived by daughters, Donna Fish, Roosevelt, Denice Fish, Warroad, and Karen Fish (Nathan Adams), Thief River Falls; sons, Dennis, Graceton, Minn., Greg (Betsy), Daryl, and Gary, all of Roosevelt, Darin, Thief River Falls, and Dale, Warroad; two granddaughters; and a sister, Jeannie Stadnisky, Long Island, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: 11: 30 a.m. Friday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Warroad.
Visitation: 6: 30 to 8: 30 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. wake service, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Warroad.
Burial: Mt. Carmel Lutheran cemetery, Chilgren Township.
Chester Kukowski
GREENBUSH, Minn. -- Chester "Chet" Kukowski, 75, Greenbush, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Chester Kukowski was born Oct. 20, 1925, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Stanislawski) Kukowski, in Barto Township, Roseau County, Minn., where he grew up. He graduated from high school in Greenbush, in 1944. He married
Bernice Gajeski on May 2, 1950, in Stephen, Minn. They lived in Greenbush for 12 years until moving to Waite Park, Minn. They lived there for 38 years, where he was a businessman and Realtor. The lived in Greenbush and Waite Park for the past 10 years.
He is survived by his wife; a brother, Al (Betty), Greenbush; and sisters, Helen Kukowski and Sister Josephine Kukowski, both of Crookston, and Marie Chrzanowski, Greenbush.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Greenbush.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. vigil prayer service, and one hour before services all in the church.
Burial: Blessed Sacrament Catholic cemetery (Gieseke, Greenbush).
LeRoy Sletten
GRYGLA, Minn. -- LeRoy Sletten, 77, Grygla, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
LeRoy Herbert Sletten was born Jan. 6, 1923, the son of Adolph and Tillie (Byklum) Sletten, in Hamre Township, Beltrami County, Minn., where he attended school. He worked on the family farm and the Oliver Howland farm. He joined the U.S. Army Nov. 26, 1944, during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. He worked for E.M. Nelson Construction until retiring. He married
Mary Holmes on Dec. 31, 1948, in Thief River Falls. They lived in Thief River Falls, Grygla and Niagara, N.D., before returning to Grygla.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Verne, Gary and Duane (Kim), all of Grygla; daughters, Karen (Arnold) Nelson, Wannaska, Minn., and Shirley (Schell) Dahl, Roseau, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mildred Sorenson, Grygla, and JoAnn (Duane) Hovet, Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Harvey and an infant.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Olaf cemetery, Valley Township, Marshall County, Minn.
Alice Ohren
FOSSTON, Minn. -- Alice Ohren, 90, Fosston, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at home.
Alice Nesvold was born Nov. 27, 1909, the daughter of Hans and Mary Eline (Hanson) Nesvold, in Dalton, Minn. She moved with her family to Heier Township, Steinbrenner County, Minn., where she attended school. She married
Len Ohren on Dec. 22, 1934, in Fosston. He died May 23, 1978.
She is survived by sons, Arden (Mary), Lengby, Minn., Daryl (Iyelet) and Warren (Elaine), both of Fosston, Leland (Connie), Moorhead, and Douglas (Jean), Perley, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Ernie (Florence), both of Fosston; sisters, Edna Kahl and Olive Saeter, both of Fosston, and Nina Sanocki, Minneapolis; a daughter-in-law, LaVonne, of Oregon; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Nesvold, Fertile, Minn.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene; a grandson; and brothers, Henry, Lloyd, Ray, and Albert.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Kingo Lutheran Church, Fosston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Kingo Lutheran cemetery.
Edmond Pederson
BEJOU, Minn. -- Edmond T. Pederson, 73, Bejou, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Edmond T. Pederson was born May 9, 1927, the son of Nils and Teckla (Erlandson) Pederson, in Bearpark Township, Norman County, Minn. He graduated from high school in Crookston. He farmed with his father and later with his brother, Norris. He married
Marjorie Busse on May 28, 1960, in Beaulieu, Minn.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Joel (Tamara), Fargo, Neal (Sherry), Bejou, Earl (Jana), Gary, Minn., and Mark (Kristi), Warren, Minn.; a daughter, Annette (Robert) Jackson, Kewanee, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Palmer (Marion) and Norris, both of Mahnomen, Minn.; and a sister, Alyce (Alton) Peterson, Fort Meyers, Fla.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, Minn.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, both in the church.
Burial: Faaberg Lutheran cemetery (Mattson, Mahnomen).
Robert Mittet
MAHNOMEN, Minn. -- Robert H. "Bob" Mittet, 82, Mahnomen, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, Minn.
Robert H. Mittet was born April 10, 1918, the son of Hans and Anna (Bergland) Mittet, in Bemidji, where he graduated from high school in 1936. He worked several jobs in the area before joining the National Guard. He left for active duty in the U.S. Army during World War II. He came back to Bemidji, where he worked at the Bemidji Bottle Gas Co. In 1950, he was transferred to Mahnomen, where he opened up the Mahnomen operation that became the Solar Gas Co. He married
Esther Sundahl on Feb. 2, 1951, in Bemidji. They lived in Mahnomen. In 1959, he began working for Wild Rice Electric Cooperative. He retired in 1981.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Bob (Liz), St. Paul, Doug (Cindy) Fargo, and David, Dilworth, Minn.; daughters, Deb Mittet, Fargo, and Marcia (Duane) Kjono, Thief River Falls; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Christensen, Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jean.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, First Lutheran Church, Mahnomen.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. today, Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen.
Burial: Riverside Memorial Park cemetery, Mahnomen.
Military rites: Mahnomen American Legion Isaacson-Bjorge Post No. 31.
