Senja Brouillette
WARROAD, Minn. -- Senja S. Brouillette, 74, Warroad, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Roseau (Minn.) Area Hospital.
Senja S. Lehir was born Feb. 22, 1926, the daughter of Alfred and Ida (Siren) Lehir, in Fort Williams, Ont. She lived in several communities in Ontario. She married
Paul Brouillette on May 24, 1947, in Sioux Lookout, Ont. In 1959, they moved to Armstrong, Ont., and in 1964, they moved to Roosevelt, Minn. She worked as a Bell Telephone operator, clerk in the Roosevelt Grocery Store and at Red Owl in Warroad. Paul Brouillette died in 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynn (David) Jaros, Warroad; a son, Ross (Lareen), Roseau; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Warroad.
Burial: Forest Lawn cemetery, Rainy River, Ont.
Eleanore Houska
BEAULIEU, Minn. -- Eleanore Houska, 87, Phoenix, formerly of Beaulieu, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Beatitudes Care Center, Phoenix, where she had lived since 1999.
Eleanore Nefzger was born May 9, 1913, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Scheafer) Nefzger, in Paynesville, Minn. In July 1933, she married
Louis Houska in Beaulieu where they farmed until 1947. They then moved to Phoenix. Louis Houska died in 1974.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon Leal and Barbara Christensen, both of Phoenix; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Smith, Kent, Wash.
Graveside services: 11 a.m. Thursday, St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, Beaulieu.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, Minn.
Karen Anderson
WILLIAMS, Minn. -- Karen Anderson, 49, Grand Rapids, Minn., formerly of Williams, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at home.
Karen Norma Anderson was born the daughter of Herman and Norma (Skoog) Anderson, in Williams, where she attended school. She married
Alvin Knudson in 1970. She worked for Marvin Windows, Warroad, Minn.. She moved to Grand Rapids in 1990.
She is survived by daughters, Crystal Wilmer, Warroad, and Coralee Knudson, Bemidji; three grandchildren; her father and stepmother, Herman (Anne), Bemidji; sisters, Sonja "Sunny" (Lloyd) Wilmer, Warroad, and Borghild "Buttons" (Dean) Carlson, Bemidji; and brothers, Henry "Hank" (Jerry), Hoopeston, Ill., and Merton "Butch" (Tootsie), Youngstown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Bethany Lutheran Church, Williams.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. today, Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.
Burial: Pine Hill cemetery, Williams.
Kenneth Wilcowski
BLACKDUCK, Minn. -- Kenneth E. Wilcowski, 63, Blackduck, died of a heart attack Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in Paynesville (Minn.) Community Hospital.
Kenneth E. Wilcowski was born Oct. 24, 1936, the son of Elmer and Ethelyn (Morrison) Wilcowski, in Sugar Bush Township, Minn. He attended school in Goodland and Buck Lake. He worked in logging camps in northern Minnesota. He then worked for Trumble Hill Mining Co., Cohasset, Minn. He also worked for George Armstrong's Automobile garage in Cass Lake, Minn., and in Bemidji as an automobile mechanic. He had also worked as a fishing guide on several lakes in northern Minnesota.
He is survived by sons, Emory, Sugar Bush Township, Roland "Rollie", Hines, Minn., and Martin, Pennington, Minn.; daughters, Lorraine Cramer, Eden Valley, Minn., and Josephine Casavan, Kelliher, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brothers, James "Bobby" Sr., Pennington, and Lyle, Moose Lake, Minn.; and sisters, Virginia Long, Grand Rapids, Minn., and Sandra Renollette, Bagley, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; a daughter, Patricia; his parents; and a brother, Elmer LaVerne.
Services: 10 a.m. today, Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel, Blackduck.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Wildwood cemetery, Moose Lake Township.
Elmer Champagne
BROOKS, Minn. -- Elmer Champagne, 74, Brooks, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Elmer E. Champagne was born Aug. 19, 1926, the son of Amedie and Delima (Carriere) Champagne, in Red Lake County, Minn., where he attended school. He farmed in the Brooks area until his retirement in 1979. He also worked at the American Crystal Sugar Co. plant and the J.R. Simplot factory in Crookston and the Brooks Cheese Factory. He also hauled milk for Dan Jolly, retiring in 1996. He married
Theresa Lessard on Oct. 25, 1948, in Oklee, Minn. They lived in Brooks.
He is survived by his wife; children, Kathleen Halsa and Richard, both of Thief River Falls, Ronald, Casper, Wyo., Jeffrey (Debbra), Janel Champagne and Scott, all of Brooks, and Kevin, Warrington, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, William, Oklee; and sisters, Luella (Ronald) Bushaw, Fargo, Dorene (Maurice) Cote, Mentor, Minn., and Marion Martell, Red Lake Falls.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; a brother, Onezime; and a sister, Lorene Westman.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooks.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a 7: 30 p.m. rosary service, and one hour before services, all in the church.
Burial: St. Joseph Catholic cemetery (Johnson, Red Lake Falls).
Howard Young
MIDDLE RIVER, Minn. -- Howard Young, 85, Middle River, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Howard Melvin Young was born Jan. 31, 1915, the son of Henry and Anna (Wallin) Young, in Middle River, where he attended school. He served with the U.S. Army from September 1942 to December 1945. After his discharge he returned to Middle River, where he worked at Young's General Store. He married
Hazel Lagergren in November 1947, in Sauk Rapids, Minn. They lived in Middle River. She died March 31, 1966. He married
Lorene Wright on Sept. 5, 1976, in East Grand Forks. They lived in Middle River, where he operated Young's Store.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Patsy Young and Bobby (Steve) Holm, both of Middle River; a stepdaughter, Dolly (Dennis) Whiteman, Ritzville, Wash.; three grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman; and sisters, Mary, Hilma, Helen and Gladys.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, First Lutheran Church, Middle River.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Collins Funeral Chapel, Middle River, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Riverside cemetery, Middle River.
Mildred Stanislawski
HALLOCK, Minn. -- Mildred Stanislawski, 90, Hallock, formerly of Lancaster, Minn., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock.
Mildred Evelyn Harper was born Oct. 20, 1910, the daughter of Manly and Tora (Anderson) Harper, in Windom, Minn. She moved with her family to Lancaster, where she graduated from high school in 1929. She married
Clinton Murray on June 10, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio. They lived in Cincinnati before returning to Minnesota. They lived near Caribou, Minn., until the mid 1930s. In 1948 they moved to Lancaster. She worked as the secretary at Lancaster High School for 17 years. Clinton Murray died Dec. 25, 1958. She married
Felix Stanislawski on Oct. 19, 1974, in Greenbush, Minn. He died Aug. 19, 1993.
She is survived by daughters, Joan (Clair) Carblom, Fort Ransom, N.D., Marge (Frank) Glad, Bloomington, Minn., and Mary Lou Sateren, Columbus, Ohio; a son, Robert (Karen) Murray, Bothell, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Arlyce Murray, San Jose, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and sisters, Avis Reese and Orpha (Vendell) Holmgren, both of Hallock.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Doris and Bonnie; sons, Donald, William and Dennis; and two grandsons.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hallock.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock.
Burial: Sikar cemetery, Lancaster.
