Jack Moss, 67, of Luverne, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Sanford Hospital, Luverne.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
Dingmann Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Luverne, is in charge of the arrangements.
Donald Staples
Donald William Staples, 86, of Slayton, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Slayton.
Surviving are two daughters, Lori (Doug) Saville, Slayton, and Susan (Sam) Hage, Mankato; and one sister, Betty (Charles) of Truman; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm. today and 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, all at the United Methodist Church, Slayton.
The service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Slayton. Burial will be in Slayton Memorial Gardens.
Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, is in charge of the arrangements.
Lyle Ufer
Lyle R. Ufer, 88, of rural Truman, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center, Fairmont.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Trimont, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont.
The service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont, with the Rev. Nancy Linn officiating. Burial will be in the Waverly Lutheran Church cemetery.
Minnie Boots
Minnie L. Boots, age 97, of Adrian, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Sanford Adrian Health Care Center. She was born August 29, 1911, in rural Rushmore, to Albert and Mattie (Behrens) Heidebrink.
Minnie married Henry J. Boots on September 24, 1930, in Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Rushmore & Wilmont areas all of their married lives. Minnie became a resident of the Sanford Adrian Health Care Center in October of 2000.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmont; and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed flower & vegetable gardening.
Minnie is survived by her three daughters, Ida (Henry) Luitjens, Worthington; Rose (Willis) Homan, Adrian; and Suzanne (Mike) Loss, Brainerd; four sons, Robert J. Boots, Worthington; Daryl Boots, Rushmore; Marlyn (Helen) Boots, Worthington; and Russ (Cheryl) Boots, Phoenix, AZ; twenty grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl James, Worthington; Dora Hansen, Thousand Oaks, CA; and Georgia Siebrands, Thousand Oaks, CA; and a brother, Harold Heidebrink, Boulder City, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry, in 1998; daughter, Agnes, in 1997; daughter-in-law, Verla Boots; a sister, Katherine Burnham; and four brothers, Ekke, Ed, Carl & Wilbert Heidebrink.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Rev. Ken Honius. Burial will be in the Wilmont Cemetery.
Shirley DeBates
Shirley Ann DeBates, 73, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Luverne, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Dougherty House Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls.
Surviving are four children, Tom (Kristen) DeBates, Atlanta, Ga., Jill (Steve) Sudenga, Sioux Falls, Scott (Ginny) DeBates, Gretna, Neb., and Timothy DeBates, Sioux Falls; one sister, Marjorie Wendt, Worthington; one brother, Paul Yager, Eden Prairie; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and parish prayers at 7 p.m., at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Luverne.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Luverne, with the Rev. Thomas Jennings officiating. Private family burial will be in Ashwood Cemetery, Kanaranzi.
James Viland
James Viland, 66, of Luverne, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hartquist Funeral Home, Engebretson Chapel, Luverne.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Luverne. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.

Dianna Lavonne Scherff, 66, of Worthington, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Sanford Regional Hospital, Worthington.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, Worthington, with the Rev. Ken Honius officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
John Wieneke
John Wieneke, 59, of Adrian, died Wednesday near Adrian.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra; one son, Ryan; his mother, Lorraine Wieneke, Worthington; seven siblings, Mary Jean (Douglas) Wehr, Worthington, JoAnn (Bruce) Amundson, Worthington, Dale (Mary) Wieneke, Adrian, Richard Wieneke, Minneapolis, Katherine (Douglas) Greve, Worthington, Rosanne (Gene) Wrege, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Joseph Wieneke (friend Jolene Farley), Adrian.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a 1:30 p.m. prayer service, at Adrian Funeral Home.
The service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, with the Rev. Timothy Hall officiating. Burial will be in St. Adrian’s Catholic Cemetery.
