Mildred C. Torgerud
LANESBORO, Minn. - Mildred Torgerud, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She was born icon Oct. 29, 1920. Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elstad Lutheran Church, rural Lanesboro, Minn. Visitation will be at the Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Leona M. Anderson
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Leona M. Anderson, 85, died at the Heritage Health Care Center of Edina, Minn. She was born icon on Feb. 18, 1913, in La Crosse, to Gustav and Esther Anderson. She was a graduate of Logan Senior High School and the La Crosse Teachers' College. Leona had taught school in Stoddard, Appleton, La Crosse, Minneapolis, and Pasadena, Calif.
She is survived by her brother, Wallace (Marcery) Anderson of Mankato, Minn.; a nephew, Robert (Stephanie) Anderson of Eagen, Minn.; and a niece, Laura (Steve) Hannon of State College, Penn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norman; and one sister, Helen.
Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at North Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Michael Frandsen will officiate and burial of the cremains will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the service. Memorials may be given to the North Presbyterian Church. The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Walter M. `Gabe' Arnold
CALEDONIA, Minn. - Walter M. ``Gabe" Arnold, 73, of Caledonia, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis. He was born icon August 28, 1925, in Rushford, Minn., to Harry and Inez (Vier) Arnold. On Oct. 28, 1950, he married icon Virginia Schulze at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia, Minn. Gabe was employed at Tri-County Electric and then drove a petroleum truck for Midland Co-op for many years. He also managed the Caledonia Municipal Store. Recently, Gabe worked at B&M Service Center in Caledonia.
He was a member of the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department and served as fire chief. Gabe also served as Houston County fire marshall. He was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Church in Caledonia and a member of the Caledonia Lions Club and the Wild Turkey Federation. Gabe enjoyed bowling, throwing horseshoes, hunting and fishing. He was an avid woodworker who made many items for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Caledonia; three daughters, Kathleen (William) Ochs of Las Vegas, Nev., Shari (Bob) Lange of Caledonia, Minn., and Deb (Jim) Bulman-Wing of La Crescent, Minn.; one son, Bruce (Patricia) of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, Brad and Ashley Ochs, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Melissa and Dustin Lange, both of Caledonia, Minn., Aaron, Amber and Brandon Bulman, all of La Crescent, Minn., Jamey Wing Jr. of La Crescent, Minn., Jessica and Adam Wing, both of La Crosse, Wis., and Nathan Walter, Kelley, Stacey and Lindsey Arnold, all of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; one sister, Ada Ruth (Warren) Peterson of Spring Valley, Minn.; one brother, Freddie (Virginia) Arnold of Rushford, Minn.; two half sisters, Alma Johns and Eleanor Sweet, both of Rushford, Minn.; and his mother-in-law, Estella Schulze of Caledonia, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, two half brothers and a half sister.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. William Runke and Rev. Bill Limmer will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call at the church today from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy L. (Haines) Mollert
PLAINVIEW, Minn. - Nancy L. (Haines) Mollert, 59, of Plainview, Minn., died Thursday evening, Nov. 26, 1998, of cancer at the Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn. She was born icon May 22, 1939, in Arcadia, Wis. to Cyril and Arvilla (Reck) Haines. Nancy Louise Haines was married icon May 2, 1959, at La Crosse, Wis., to Robert E. Mollert.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Mollert; three daughters, Tammy (Dan) Ganz of Rochester, Minn., Julie (Dan) Jensen of Rochester, Minn., and Sue (Bob) Conklin of Green Bay, Wis.; one son, Jim (Mary Ann) Mollert of Kasson, Minn.; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rea Gamoke of Arcadia, Wis., Fritzie (Bud) Peterson of Evansville, Wis., and Marlene (Tom) Mulrine of Onalaska, Wis.; and one brother, Peter (Cece) Haines of Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy graduated from Holmen High School in 1956. In 1968, the Mollerts moved to Elgin, Minn. In 1985, they moved to Plainview, Minn. Her husband is a retired carpenter. Nancy was employed as a line operator at Lakeside Foods, Plainview, Minn. for many years, until retiring because of ill health this past October. She was a member of St. Joachims Catholic Church, Plainview, Minn.
Casket bearers are Pat Mulrine, Mike Mulrine, Tim Mulrine, Jim Mollert, Bruce Mickow and John Hartert.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Joachims Catholic Church of Plainview, Minn. Father Donald F. Connelly officiating. Burial in St. Joachims Catholic Cemetery, Plainview, Minn. Friends may call at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, Plainview, Minn. on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Schleicher Funeral Homes of Plainview, Minn. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen V. Balentine
CALEDONIA, Minn. - Helen V. Balentine, 70, of Caledonia, Minn., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at the Tweeten/Lutheran Health Care Center, Spring Grove, Minn., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born icon Oct. 12, 1927, in Freeburg, Minn., to Greg and Esther (Arndt) Thimmesch. Helen attended schools in Freeburg and New Albin, Iowa, and graduated from New Albin High School in 1945. Helen married icon Albert Meyer and they later divorced. She then married icon Eulis Balentine and they also later divorced. Helen loved to cook and she had much joy in living for her children and her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Balentine and fiance Kirk Galitz of Pleasant Dale, Neb., and Wanda (Terry) Steele of Caledonia; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Meyer of Eitzen, Minn.; five grandchildren, Melissa and Kristopher Meyer of Eitzen, and Tyler, Travis and Tanner Steele of Caledonia; a brother, John Thimmesch of Machesney Park, Ill.; and a stepmother, Olga Thimmesch of New Albin, Iowa.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randall Meyer in 1997; and a grandchild in infancy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Rolf T. Storlie will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia (use McPhail Street access road), today from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.

Ingrid H. Julsrud
HOUSTON, Minn. - Ingrid H. Julsrud, 98, of Houston, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, in Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. She was born icon on Aug. 14, 1900, to Ludvig H. and Amanda (Omodt) Julsrud in Rushford, Minn.
Ingrid moved to Houston with her parents in 1902 and attended Houston public schools. She graduated from St. Olaf College, was a member of its choir and received her library training at the University of Minnesota. She taught at high schools in Claremont, Luverne and Houston, Minn., and was a librarian at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where she also taught children's literature. She was a member of the American Library Association, the Iowa College Library Association and the American Association of University Women. She was also a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, its WELCA and its Circles. Ingrid was a church organist and choir director of the Houston Lutheran Church and Stone Church for many years, directing sometimes four choirs. She was also a contributing columnist to the Houston Gazette and County Journal newspapers. She authored the book ``Remembering Old Times" which was published in 1993.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Carmen Julsrud of La Crosse, Wis.; three nephews, Dr. Mark (Dr. Melanie) Julsrud of San Antonio, Texas, Brad (Laura) Julsrud of La Crosse, Wis., and Gordon Julsrud of La Crosse. Wis.; One niece, Dr. Carla (Hon. Robert) Yock of Annandale, Va.; and eight great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with Rev. Mark Rydberg officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Cross of Christ Church, Valley View Nursing Home or Houston Historical Society. Hoff Funeral Homes-Houston Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sharon K. Hull
WINONA, Minn. - Sharon K. Hull, 59, of Winona, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at the Community Memorial Hospital. She majored in music at the University of Minnesota and later earned an M.S. in music at Mankato State University. She taught music in her home in Winona for 33 years. She was also a past member of the Winona Historical Society and Winona Municipal Band, as well as the Hatfield Concert Band and the Da Capo Concert Band in La Crosse, Wis. She was also a partner of the ``Wincross Piano Dual" with Frances Burkart of La Crosse.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Miriam Holder of St. Cloud, Minn.; and her son Hans of Wakefield, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date. Memorials should be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Muriel C. Foss
HOUSTON, Minn. - Muriel Foss, 82, Houston, Minn., died Aug. 19, 1998, in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
She was boirn Oct. 17, 1915, the youngest child of John and Serene Marie (Johnson) Foss.
She taught physical education at South St. Paul High School for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1976. Besides her teaching, Muriel coached many young people in a variety of sports. She was a natural athlete, an accomplished musician, a competitive golfer, an avid bridge partner of the ``Nice Ladies" Club - but most of all - a loved ``adopted" mother, grandmother, aunt and wonderful friend. She is a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston.
Muriel is survived by family and friends including her older sister, Charlotte Feuerstein, Madison, Wis.; sister-in-law, Lylas Foss, New Braunfels, Texas; nieces, Mary (John) Laub, Madison, and Cynthia (Bobby) Gass, San Antonio, Texas; nephews, Jim Feuerstein, San Antonio, Texas, and Charles (Betty) Cordes and family, Winona, Minn.; and two grand nephews. She is further survived by her special friends, Christine (Steve) Rischene and family, Craig (Debbie) Kellstrom and family, Charles (Jennifer) Kellstrom, Roxanne Flatten and Nikki, and Dorothy Mueller, all of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Mel Cordes; her brother, Anton ``Tony" Foss; her best friend, Betty Kellstrom; and her terrier companion, ``Dogee."
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Houston.
Friends may call Friday, Aug. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Home, Houston Chapel, Hwy. 16 E. Cedar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church or the South St. Paul Education Foundation, 104 Fifth Avenue S., So. St. Paul, Minn., 55075.

Eunice W. Burns
LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Eunice W. Burns, 78, of La Crescent, Minn. died on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born icon on Jan. 15, 1920, in La Crosse to John and Alma (Hegge) Gerhart. She married icon Robert J. Burns on Feb. 13, 1960, in Caledonia, Minn. He died on June 1, 1993.
Eunice is survived by a daughter, Susan (Richard) Radde of Onalaska, Wis.; two sons, Donald (Laurie) Luce of La Crescent and John Burns of La Crescent; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Coster of La Crosse and Audrey Reynolds of St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Luce in 1959.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent. Monsignor Donald W. Grubisch will officiate. Burial will be in the Crucifixion Cemetery in La Crescent. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
