Dorothy Borrell, 97
Dorothy Ann Borrell, 97, of rural Waverly passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2016 at the home of Lynn and Charlie Borrell in rural Waverly, where she was lovingly cared for in her last years.
Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. The funeral Mass was on Saturday, April 16 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Dorothy was the third child born to Leo and Agnes (Klingelhoets) Claessens of Waverly, Minn. on Feb. 11, 1919. She was the apple of her father’s eye, spending hours and hours working with him in the trades as she grew up.
She graduated from St Mary’s High School in Waverly and then attended St Catherine’s in St. Paul for nursing. She later worked at the Cokato hospital.
On June 25, 1942, she married Francis (Fritz) Borrell and moved to the Borrell family farm just southwest of Waverly. From this union came 12 children, 9 boys and 3 girls. She worked side-by-side with Fritz on the farm and proved to be quite an asset when it came to mechanical problems. She was very analytical and could repair just about any gadget around the house or farm.
She lived life to the fullest and had many hobbies and interests. She loved to travel, including a trip to Japan and multiple visits to Europe. She liked singing in the church choir, dancing, cooking, sewing, and playing the piano. More than anything else, she enjoyed caring for and loving her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was extremely proud of all her family, and every Memorial Day she especially beamed, knowing that Waverly American Legion Post 305 was named after her uncle, Charles Claessens, who was mortally wounded in World War I, and that both of her brothers, six of her sons, one daughter, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren all served their country in the United States military.
She lived her life caring for others. She was active in her church circle, volunteering at funerals and other engagements. When someone in the community had an emergency or death in the family, she was almost always the second to deliver a cake or hot dish, right behind Loraine Kittock (No one beat Loraine!). She brightened the days for many elderly as she visited them on her regular tour of area nursing homes after Sunday Mass. Dorothy spent years delivering Meals on Wheels, before being the recipient of the same later in life.
She was preceded in death by: her husband of 35 years, Fritz Borrell in 1977; parents, Leo and Agnes (Klingelhoets); sons, Bernard in 1962 and Michael in 2003; granddaughter, Cathy Monahan in 1995; and brothers, Walter and Henry.
Dorothy is survived by: 10 of her 12 children, David (Jean) of Maple Lake, Janet Sherman of Southfield, Mich., Rose Marie (Mike) Monahan of Littleton, Colo., Kenneth (Karen) of Waverly, Patrick of Waverly, Richard (Patty) of Waverly, Charles (Lynn) of Waverly, Gene (Toni) of Waverly, Jerome (Kay) of Waverly, and Virginia Borrell of Kirbyville, Texas; and over 90 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved her friends and family dearly and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was a loyal friend and a surrogate mom to many.
The family wishes to thank Father O’Hotto and the staff at St. Mary’s Parish for their care and support, especially Dorothy Novak and Carol Tuckenhageen who for years delivered in-home communion to Dorothy and provided so much love to her. The Borrells would also like to extend a personal thank you to all the staff at Ridgeview Hospice. They were a tremendous help to the family through an emotionally painful time and kept Dorothy pain-free and peaceful in her final days. For that, the family will be eternally grateful. Finally, for all who offered prayers and well wishes, the family thanks you and wishes God’s blessings upon you.
Thomas Dougherty, 56
Thomas Michael Dougherty, 56, of Otsego passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
He was born on April 17, 1960 in Robbinsdale, the son of Thomas R. and A. Lucille Dougherty. Tom was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at Church of St. Raphael in Crystal. He was a 1978 graduate from Cooper High School in New Hope. Tom worked at Graco Inc. in Rogers for 15-plus years.
Tom was preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas R. and A. Lucille Dougherty; brother, Kevin Dougherty; and nephew, Matthew Holland.
He is survived by: his daughters, Molly (and friend, Jake) and Jessica (Josh and their children, Ethan and Jack); siblings, Patricia (Glenn) Mayer, Mary (Donald) Franczak, Maureen (Clyde) Martin, Colleen (Jeffrey) Radeke, Dean (Rose) Dougherty, and Eileen (Todd) Holland; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Honorary casket bearers were his nieces and nephews: David Mayer, Kayleen Koetz, Katie Dougherty, Kimberly Dougherty, Kevin Dougherty, and Melissa Holland.
Casket bearers were his nephews: John Franczak, Andrew Franczak, Robert Martin, Keith Radeke, Ryan Dougherty, and Jack Holland.
Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Dougherty was scheduled on Monday, April 25 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Joah Ellis as celebrant. Visitation with prayer service was scheduled on Sunday, April 24 at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael/Albertville Funeral Home, with further visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass.
Readers were his brother-in-law, Glenn Mayer, and a nephew, Joseph Franczak.
Gift bearers were Tom’s great-nieces and great-nephew, Nicole Franczak, Shannon Franczak and Will Franczak.
Musicians were: nephew, Brent Radeke as soloist; niece, Beth Radeke as soloist; and niece, Emily Pedersen as flutist.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Hanover Village Cemetery.
Serving the family is the Peterson Chapel St. Michael/Albertville Funeral Home.
Kermit Kalke, 79
Funeral services for Kermit D. Kalke were scheduled on Monday, April 25 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Richland, with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Visitation was scheduled at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday, as well as an hour prior to the service on Monday, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery.
Bonnerup-Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland assisted the family.
Kermit passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was 79 years old.
Kermit Dean Kalke was born on Dec. 31, 1936 in Osage, Iowa to Alvin and Clarice (Huset) Kalke. He was baptized in Iowa and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church of New Richland. Kermit graduated in 1955 from New Richland High School. He attended Mankato Commercial College for one year. Kermit served in the Army for six months of active duty, and six years with the Army Reserves.
On April 26, 1959, he married Marie Erickson of Alden. They had three daughters in this marriage.
On Feb. 17, 1973, Kermit married LaVonne (Sorensen) Lund of Wells.
Kermit was in business with his dad, and the business was known as the Kalke and Son Block and Tile, and Kalke Sand and Gravel, for many years. Later, he and LaVonne owned and operated Kalke Department Store. They also farmed for many years. Kermit drove school bus and was a meat cutter for Wagners. He served on the church council, was a Sunday school teacher, served on the city council, and was treasurer for the New Richland Township.
He had many interests. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards, going to Gopher basketball and football games, watching high school sports, and going for walks with his dog, Riley. He enjoyed spending time in his wildlife area, having morning coffee with his friends, and he had a hobby of rock collecting. Most of all, he enjoyed moments together with his family.
He is survived by: his wife, LaVonne (and their dog, Riley); children, Nancy (Sally) Kalke of Minneapolis, Charlene (Tom) McDonnell of Buffalo, Minn. and Karen (Russell) Point of Buffalo, Minn.; grandchildren, Karin (Brandon) Bellomo, Philip Rossin, Jack McDonnell, Andy McDonnell, Kandace (Erik) Olson, Joe (Megan) Point, and Erickson Point; stepchildren, Sue (Michael) Plotz of New Richland and Rodney (Angela) Lund of Waseca; step-grandchildren, Adam (Mallory) Plotz, Nicole Plotz, Shane Halverson, Nathan Lund, and Noah Lund; a sister, Shirley Hite of New Richland; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Clarice.
Kermit will be very sadly missed.
Chester Morin, 93
Chester L. Morin, 93, of Delano, formerly of Hamel, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Delano, Minn.
He was born Nov. 19, 1922 to Magerick and Amanda (Dery) Morin in Hamel, Minn.
Chester was an accomplished gardner. He loved to fish and compete in games of chance. He was known for always having a new car and keeping it immaculate.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and siblings, Virgil Morin, Esther Aurentz, Viola Martin, Clifford Morin, Lawrence Morin, Leo Morin, Mildred Barrett Loftus, and Shirley Morin.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gathering/Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 30 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minn. Interment with military honors will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Jeanne de Chantel Cemetery in rural Corcoran.
Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
William Radzwill, 75
William S. Radzwill, longtime resident of Cokato, passed away April 6, 2016 at the age of 75.
As a new graduate from Indiana University School of Law, he and his young family moved to Cokato, where he practiced law specializing in municipal and watershed law. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed skiing, camping and sailing with his family and friends.
He was a loving father and doting grandfather, survived by: children, Kristina (John) DeLaundreau, Kirk (Sheri), Mark (Jesse), Kathryn (Mark) Manninen, Sarah (Matt) Root, and Anna (Josh); grandchildren, Maria, Michelle, Aaron, Jennifer, Kate (Erin), Kilee, McCabe, Bella, Hannah, Henry, Jack, Ty, and Lucy; brother, Richard (Ruth); and sister, Susan (David).
Preceded in death by father, William, and mother, Evelyne.
Visitation is taking place on Saturday, April 30, 3-6 p.m., with 6:00 Celebration of Life at St. John’s Educational Center, Cokato.

Mildred Dalbec, 95
Mildred L. Dalbec, 95, of Delano passed away May 23, 2016.
She was born on July 24, 1920 in Waverly, Minn. to Lawrence and Carrie (Bursch) Guedes. Mildred enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, shopping, doing puzzles, sewing and needlework.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, son, Jack, and an infant granddaughter. She is survived by: her children, Janice (Dwight) Clark and Timothy (Gloria) Dalbec; nine grandchildren, Christopher Clark, Sherman Clark, Rosalind Albiso, Angela (Art) Hyde, Todd (Jodi) Dalbec, Bryan (Cammie) Dalbec, Michelle Seidl, Michael (Missy) Dalbec, and Pamela Dalbec; twelve great-grandchildren, Christopher Jr, Brandon, Devin, Austin, Awston, Cassandra, Skyla, Paige, Trevor, Lynn, Daniel, and Shannon; and one great-great-granddaughter, Bailey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 4 at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minn. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home of Delano.
Joseph Dvorak, 74
Joseph W. Dvorak, 74, of St. Cloud, formerly of Annandale, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial services were scheduled at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake with Pastor Marc Well Nagel officiating. Visitation was scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the church. A celebration was following the service at The “V.” A private interment will take place at the Kotilinek Family Farm at a later date.
Joseph William Dvorak was born August 11, 1941 in Minneapolis to Edward and Marie (Kasel) Dvorak. Joe grew up in North Minneapolis, where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1959 from DeLaSalle High School. Before beginning his own business ventures, Joe was employed by the Minneapolis Athletic Club, Coty Cosmetics, the Ford Motor Plant, and Montgomery Ward. With his entrepreneur spirit, Joe also owned and operated numerous businesses over the years, including: JJ’s Bar, Ellis’ Steakhouse, Annandale Decorating & Appliance, and H.D.G. Marketing; he also partnered with his son, Mark, at I.V.P Travel, V.P. Tours and Whispering Pines Golf Course. Joe was awarded the Salesman of the Year for Coty Cosmetics and the Super Seller Award from Real Resorts in Cancun.
In 1961, he married Sharon McIntosh, and she later preceded him in death.
On Aug. 17, 1997, Joe was united in marriage to Kathleen Rae Powers at the Maple Lake Community Park.
Joe was a past member of the Annandale Lions Club and the Annandale Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren, traveling with his wife and children, playing cards, bowling, and attending family barbeques and gatherings.
Joe is survived by: his wife, Kathy of St. Cloud; children, Wendy (Tom) Kotilinek, Jodie (Bob) Pawelk, both of Maple Lake, and Mark (Amy) Dvorak of St. Augusta; stepchildren, Randy (Stephanie) Puncochar of St. Michael, Perry Puncochar of Maple Lake and Debby (Jerry) Glunz of Buffalo; grandchildren, Chase (Jackie) Kotilinek, Derek Kotilinek (significant other, Sara Ward), Dylan Kotilinek, Jamie (Nick) Cook, Jessica Marie (Brandon) Smith, and Jacob and Kendall Dvorak; step-grandchildren, Adam (Michelle) Puncochar, Rochelle Puncochar, Brittany (Danny) Hackenmueller, Joey (Kelsie) Puncochar, Jesse Puncochar, Jenny Puncochar, Matthew Glunz, and Michaela Glunz; great-grandchildren, Hailey Kotilinek, Charlotte and Harper Cook, Brody Smith, and Baby Kotilinek; and step-great-grandchildren, Maddilyn Puncochar, Amelia Hackenmueller and Baby Hackenmueller. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Edward and Marie Dvorak; grandson, David Pawelk; sister, Mary Jeanne Cassanova; and brother, Larry Dvorak.
Sarah Goelz and David Schmidt were asked to provide music for the service.

Charles Euteneuer, 62
Charles L. (Chuck) Euteneuer, 62, of St. Michael passed away May 26, 2016.
Born Sept. 29, 1953 in St. Cloud, the son of John K. “Jack” and Gertrude (Weber) Euteneuer.
On June 28, 1975, Charles was joined in holy marriage to Diane Eich in St. Cloud. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
He spent most of his career with R&D Engineering in the medical device industry, working to save lives. He retired from Boston Scientific in 2005, and has over 50 patents to his name. He was a founder with his partners of four medical device companies.
He dearly loved his grandchildren, driving hours to watch any of their activities, teasing them, playing with them, and taking care of them. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and putzing around the yard. He treasured his time spent at Lake of the Woods and his cabin.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 40 years, Diane; sons, Bob (Nancy) Euteneuer of Parkers Prairie, Eric (Kelia) Euteneuer of Hugo, Minn. and Jack Euteneuer of Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Grant, Cole and Avery, and Erica and Matthew; sisters, Jackie (Mike) Kedrowski of Duluth and June (Tim) Malott of Stillwater; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2 at the Historic St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. Visitation was scheduled on Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., at the Peterson funeral home in St. Michael. Further visitation is taking place at the church one hour prior to Mass on Thursday. Memorials preferred to place a memorial bench at Lake of the Woods.
