Mrs. Coop was born July 3, 1936, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and lived in Camas, Wash., before moving to Independence in 1977. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Blue Springs Restoration Branch Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Jack Coop of the home; two daughters, Nancy Oakes and Patricia Burns, both of Blue Springs; and three grandchildren, Jacob and Timothy Oakes, and Nicholas Burns.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

ALVIN J. GALLOWAY

Alvin J. Galloway, 65, Grain Valley, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mr. Galloway was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Carroll, Iowa. He was senior project engineer in the Aerospace, Television and Machinery Department of Delta Machinery (formerly Rockwell Eingeering), retiring in 1996 after 45 years of service. He was an inventor and held several patents.

His survivors include two brothers, William E. Galloway, Blue Springs, and Joel D. Galloway, Northport, Mich.; three sisters, Sara Kruse, Plano, Texas, Roseanne Phillipp, Plainfield, Ill., and Judith Peterson, Eugene, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomers' Sons Blue Springs Chapel; cremation. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to National Public Radio.

MARGARET L. MUZINGO

Margaret Louise Muzingo, 47, Rayville, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Muzingo was born April 13, 1951, in Ava, Mo. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include her husband, Ed Muzingo of the home; her mother, Betty Pittman, Ponca City, Okla.; two sons, Edward Muzingo III, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and James Ronald Muzingo, Ponca City; one daughter, Rachel Muzingo of the home; two sisters, Celest Schmit, Parkville, Mo., and Estelle Shroder, Florida; her grandmother, Margaret Potts; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery.

NORMA L. PORTER

Norma L. Porter, 71, Orlando, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998.

Ms. Porter was a former resident of Woods Chapel Lodge, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Independence Branch.

Her survivors include one daughter, Linda Maycock, Orlando; one stepdaughter, Dee Blackstone; one sister, Juanita Hurst, Belton, Mo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb-Freer Funeral Home.

JOHN A. PURCELL

John Arthur Purcell, 57, Independence, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mr. Purcell was born Feb. 13, 1941, in Kansas City. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Independence, and a Navy veteran.

His survivors include his wife, Anita Purcell, Vandera, Texas; three sons, Fred Galindo and Tommy Galindo, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and David Eugene Purcell, Scottsdale, Ariz., four daughters, Anna Hunt, Phoenix, Doris J. Jackson and Jackie Purcell, both of Independence, and Caitlynn Purcell, Vandera; two sisters, Patricia Baer, Independence, and Jo Ann Welling, Prattville, Ala.; two brothers, Robert Purcell, New Ulm, Texas, and William D. Purcell Jr., Blue Springs; and nine grandchildren.

Cremation. Services will be 5 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb-Freer Funeral Home.

ALICE L. THOMPSON

Alice Leona Thompson, 92, Oak Grove, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Kansas City. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert L. Thompson, died in 1993.

Her survivors include three sons, Robert L. Thompson Jr., Independence, James Thompson, Modesto, Calif., and Kenneth Thompson, Rayville, Mo.; four daughters, Shirley Seeton, Creighton, Mo., Dorothy DeCleva, Stockton, Mo., Alice Willard, Independence, and Susan Wilcox, Liberty, Mo.; one sister, Mary Grube, Kansas City; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Oakland cemetery, north of Grain Valley. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.

MARSHA LOU HICKS

Marsha Lou Hicks, 47, Independence, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.

Mrs. Hicks was born Sept. 1, 1951, in Kansas City. She was active as a volunteer in her son's school. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the College Park congregation. She served as the women's leader and vacation church school teacher and director for many years.

Her survivors include her husband, Chester Hicks, of the home; one son, Matthew Hicks, also of the home; her mother and father, Eldon and Betty Williams, Independence; two brothers, Glen A. Williams, Prince George, Va., and Robert D. Williams, Midlothian, Ill.; one sister, Sharon K. Lee, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the RLDS College Park Church. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. A private inurnment service will be held at Mound Grove cemetery on Wednesday. The family suggests contributions to the Matthew Hicks Education Fund.

LLOYD LEE HILL

Lloyd lee Hill, 54, Independence, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Hill was born March 19, 1944, in St. Catherine, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Raytown School District as a locksmith. He was active with Boy Scout Troop 226 and was a member of the of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church.

His survivors include his wife of 25 years, Donna Hill, of the home; one son, Troy Hill, of the home; one daughter, Amy Welch, Lee's Summit; one sister, Sylvia Morris; two brothers, Carlon Hill and Ronald Hill, both of St. Louis; and sister-in-law Linda Foster, Independence.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at Leavenworth National cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Llody Hill Special Fund, c/o Raytown Teachers Credit Union, 10021 E. 66th Terrace, Raytown, Mo., 64133. The fund will be used for Troy Hill's education.

CHRISTENA M. JOBE

Christena Merril Jobe, 89, Independence, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Jobe was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Princeton, Mo., where she lived prior to moving to Independence in 1991. She worked at the Axtell Hospital in Princeton for 35 years before retiring. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dillon Jobe in 1943, and a daughter, Norma Masten in 1994.

Her survivors include three daughters, Anna Lea Bartlett, Parowan, Utah, Betty Hollopeter and Marilyn Boyer, both of Independence; a son, Bill Jobe, Oklahoma City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Home, Princeton. Burial will be in the Pine cemetery, Princeton. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel, where Moose Lodge services will be at 7:30 p.m. performed by Women of Moose No. 1092. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation.

MARY E. ROBINSON

Mary E. Robinson, 87, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at her home.

She was born in Kansas City. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Blue Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin H. Robinson in 1960.

Her survivors include a daughter, Cora M. Graig, Blue Springs; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Moriah cemetery under the direction of Muehlebach Funeral Home.

LLOYD E. THOMPSON

Lloyd "Bud" Eugene Thompson, 74, Independence, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Thompson was a lifelong resident of Independence. He retired from the City of Independence data processing department after 32 years of city employment. His service with the city began as a firefighter at Station No. 1. He also worked for the city's Power and Light Department. He was a Deputy Sheriff of Buckner for two years.

He also owned and operated Thompson Insurance for 30 years and Thompson Florist for 22 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3717; VFW Post 1000; Independence 76 AF&AM;

and American Legion Post 340. He was a member of the RLDS Eden Heights Congregation.

His survivors include his wife, Brenda Thompson, a stepson, David, and a stepdaughter, Michelle, all of the home; two sons, Michael Thompson and Louis "Rusty" Thompson, a daughter, Cynthia Lindberg, a brother, William Thompson, all of Independence; two sisters, Juanita McQuerry, Independence, and Florence Roberts, Quenemo, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. VFW Post 1000 Mortuary Team will provide military honors at the gravesite.

RAY E. RUTLEDGE

Ray Edward Rutledge, 78, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Rutledge was born in Princeton, Mo., and lived in Princeton until moving to Independence in 1954. He was a department manager for Harriman Lumber Co. from 1954 until 1987. Most recently, he worked in the sales department at Cash Bargain Lumber Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in India and Burma, and was a former councilman for the city of Princeton. He was a member and deacon of the Englewood Assembly of God Church, a church school superintendent for 22 years, a secretary of the church board for 14 years, and was one of the original founders of the Englewood Christian School.

His survivors include his wife of 57 years, Violet Rutledge of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Ray and Thelma Rutledge, Salinas, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Claude Cowan, Independence; one brother, James Rutledge, Sedalia, Mo.; two sisters, Margaret Black, Little Rock, Ark., and Gale Crawford, Wallowa, Ore.; three grandchildren, Ben and Jon Rutledge, and Shaunna Davis; and two great-grandsons, J.C. and John.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Englewood Assembly of God Church, 10628 Winner Road, Independence.

ETHEL A. ANDERSON

Ethel Almeda Schwartz Anderson, 94, Odessa, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Anderson was born Aug. 3, 1904, in Junction City, Kan., and lived in Junction City, Manhattan and Parsons in Kansas and in the Topeka area before moving to Kansas City in 1945. She moved to Odessa in 1948. She was a homemaker, formerly worked for Modern Woodmen Insurance and taught school in the Junction City area in the 1920s. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Bates City, the China Painter's Club and the United Mission Women at the church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman L. Schwartz on Nov. 29, 1967, and her second husband, John R. Anderson Sr. on Nov. 25, 1988.

Her survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lawrence Paul Schwartz, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Gary and Barbara Schwartz, Odessa; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bill Parmerlee, Venice, Fla.; one sister, Viola Staatz, San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Highland cemetery, Junction City. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa. The family suggests contributions to the church.

GLADYS T. DUNN

Gladys T. Brann Dunn, 95, Independence, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Independence Health Care Center.

Mrs. Dunn was born Aug. 1, 1903, in Oak Grove. She worked for the National Biscuit Co. for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Dunn in 1961, and a daughter, Waneta Darnell in 1974.

Her survivors include one daughter, Shirley Hand of Independence; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Leukemia Society of America.

JESSIE L. WARREN

Jessie Lucille Warren, 86, Independence, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Warren was born March 27, 1912, in Centerview, Mo., and had lived in Independence for the past 12 years. She had been an inspector for the Plastics Enterprise Co., and was a member of the River Boulevard Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darles Warren Sr. on Jan. 18, 1985, and one son, Darles Warren Jr. on Feb. 15, 1964.

Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Gene Warren, Independence; one sister, Fern McEwan, Appleton City, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home, Butler, Mo. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Butler. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
