BEVERLY J. COOP

Beverly Jean Coop, 62, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at the Life Care Center of Grandview.

CHARLES L. YORK

Charles Luther York, 76, Independence, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. York was born in New Hampton, Mo., and had lived in the Independence area since 1953. He was a television engineer with KMBC for 42 years, retiring in 1990, and was a member and president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1259. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Beacon Heights RLDS Church, where he served as a priest. He was also very active in many church group activities.

His survivors include his wife, Regina M. York of the home; two sons, David York, Mobile, Ala., and Barry York, Newberg, Ore.; three daughters, Judy York, Kansas City, Jill McClure, Tualatin, Ore., and Joyce Higginbotham, St. Louis; three brothers, Edwin York, Kent, Wash., Leland York, Louisburg, Kan., and Robert York, Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister, Avalon Reeves, Paola, Kan.; six grandchildren, Richard, Trevor, Kristina, Kenneth, Erik and Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren, Carly and Conner.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 19402 Holke Road. Private graveside services were held today at Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Beacon Heights RLDS Church building fund, 19402 Holke Road, Independence, Mo. 64057. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

GREGORY A. HIGGINBOTHAM

Gregory Alan Higginbotham, 40, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Truman Medical

Center East.

Mr. Higginbotham was born Feb. 8, 1958, in Wichita, Kan., and had lived in Independence from 1973 until moving to Kansas City two months ago. He was a union brick layer and stone mason. He was a graduate of Fort Osage High School.

His survivors include a daughter, Holly Sue Journey, Linwood, Kan.; his mother, Catherine Holt, Independence; his stepfather, Deepwater, Mo.; two brothers, David Higginbotham, Kansas City, and John Higginbotham, Oklahoma City; and two sisters, Roberta Meyers, Joshua Tree, Calif., and Joyce Larege, Marina Del Ray, Calif.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence; cremation. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

CLYDE L. CASE

Clyde Leslie Case, 80, Independence, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Case was born June 6, 1918, in Carthage, Mo., and had lived in Independence most of his life. He was the co-owner of Bill's Meat Market in Independence for several years until the mid-1960s, then he was a meat cutter for Curts Market in Independence for 15 years, retiring in 1981. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

His survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Louise Case of the home; four sons, Leslie A. Case, Lee's Summit, Randal S. Case, Kansas City, Dennis R. Case, Blue Springs, and Mickey Case, Houston; two sisters, Iva Wisecarver, Springfield, Mo., and Nellie Resch, Independence; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Hickory Point cemetery, Green Ridge, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas University Endowment Association for the Danny Tittle Pediatric School Memorial Fund, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, Kan. 66106-7804.

AUDREY A. MANLEY

Audrey A. Manley, 69, Sedalia, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Manley was born July 23, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa, and lived in Independence before moving to Sedalia 30 years ago. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and taught Bible school while in Independence. She worked for Jensen Manufacturing for 11 years, completed LPN training at Community College and worked at Fairview Rest Home, Sedalia. She tended her stepfather, John Anderson, for five years, and her mother-in-law, Erma Manley, for 44 years.

Her survivors include her husband of 50 years, Edward H. Manley of the home; four sons, James E. Manley, Grain Valley, John R. Manley, Sibley, and Michael D. Manley and Mark A. Manley, both of Sedalia; a sister, Judith K. Richie, Independence; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel, Independence. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Bothwell Hospice, 601 E. 14th St., Sedalia, Mo. 65301.

FLOYD R. "JOE" DEAL III

Floyd Rayford "Joe" Deal III, 50, San Diego, Calif., died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Deal was born April 5, 1948, in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a mortgage banker for 25 years, and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

His survivors include his parents, Floyd and June Deal, Independence; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Spies and Nancy and Les Wion of Independence, and Susan and George Templeton, Lake St. Louis, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel; cremation will follow the service. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Multiple Sclerosis Research, in care of Dr. John Trotter, 660 S. Euclid, Box 8111, St. Louis, Mo. 63110.

MARY L. KUNKEL

Mary Louise Kunkel (Hicks), 36, Independence, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Ms. Kunkel was born Aug. 29, 1962, in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to this area in 1992.

Her survivors include a daughter, Morgan Leigh Hicks, and her fiance, Timothy S. Hicks, both of Independence; her parents, Charles and Rose Kunkel, three sisters, and four brothers, all of Sioux City; and two sisters from the Kansas City area.

Services and burial will be in Sioux City on Saturday. The family asks that to remember her do a kind deed to someone who needs you or make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.

BILL F. NICHOLS

Bill F. Nichols, 80, Independence, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Nichols was born April 23, 1918, and lived in Kansas City, Kan., from 1962 until moving to Independence in 1994. He was a welder for 50 years and worked for Union Machine & Tool, retiring in 1974.

His survivors include his wife, Marie Nichols, Independence; a son, Ronald F. Nichols, Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Linda Helmick, Leawood, Kan., Deborah Millican, Independence, and Jerry

Miller, Atlanta; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 1900 W. 47th Place, Suite 310, Westwood, Kan., 66205.

JIMMIE L. BROWN

Jimmie Lee Brown, 48, Blue Springs, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in Reeds Springs, Mo. Mr. Brown was born in Creston, Iowa. He was a cabinet maker for Blystone Cabinet Makers. He was a member of A.A., Alive Again Chapter in Independence and was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His survivors include a son, Craig Allen Brown, Blue Springs; three daughters, Christi Raak, Blue Springs, Casey Brown, Overland Park, Kan., and Cathy Bates, Independence; his parents, Jerry and Dolores Brown, Reeds Springs; two brothers, Ronnie Dean Brown, Grain Valley, and Jerry J. Brown, Rogers, Ark.; a sister, Chyril Cavaness, Sparta, Mo.; his girlfriend, Liz Cheney of the home; and five grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alive Again Chapter of A.A.

ANNA L. WOMACK

Anna Louise Womack, 76, Independence, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Mrs. Womack was born in Kansas City and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a power machine operator in the garment industry. Her survivors include two sons, Steven Curnett, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jim Curnett, Turney, Mo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

SAM DUBIN

Sam Dubin, 87, Grain Valley, formerly of Blue Springs, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Mr. Dubin was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Poland. He was an active volunteer and board member of Vesper hall Senior Citizens Group in Blue Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Dubin in 1991. His survivors include his son, Sam Dubin Jr., Grain Valley; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills East cemetery, Lee's Summit. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

FLOYD L. HOLLOWAY

Floyd Lee Holloway, 69, Odessa, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at the New Haven Nursing Center in Odessa. Mr. Holloway was born in Orrick, Mo., and had lived in Independence before moving to Odessa in 1973. He had been employed by the railroad as a welder, retiring in 1984 after 35 years. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Holloway in 1994 and a daughter, Glenda, in 1996. His survivors include three daughters, Brenda Preator and Linda Fessler, both of Odessa, and Cindy Reynolds, Independence; four grandchildren, Susan Preator, Daniel L. Preator, Kristina Kirchhoff and Dustin Holloway; and one great-granddaughter, Kayelynn Kirchhoff. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetics Association.

ALFRED L. CARDWELL

Alfred Leon Cardwell, 80, Independence, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at the Monterey Park Care Center.

Mr. Cardwell was born March 5, 1919, in Mascot, Tenn. He was an electrician and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 53. He was of the Baptist faith, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 499, Blue Springs. He was preceded in death by a son, William Cardwell.

His survivors include his wife, Marjorie Cardwell, and a daughter, Wilma Pursley, both of Independence; six sons, Junior Cardwell and Paul Cardwell, both of Mascot, Larry Cardwell and Allen Cardwell, both of California, Gary Watkins, Henderson, Texas, and Dennis Pendleton, Des Moines, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 today at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Webb-Freer Funeral Home.

THOMAS K. "KEITH" PINICK

Thomas K. "Keith" Pinick, 53, Independence, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at the East Kansas City Airport.

Mr. Pinick was born Nov. 24, 1945, in Westmoreland, Kan. He graduated from Westmoreland Rural High School in 1964. He was employed by Allied-Signal Corporation for more than 30 years as an electronics technician. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard Unit, which was activated during the Pueblo incident, serving in Vietnam, during 1968 and 1969. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1000, Independence. He was also a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union and the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 91.

His survivors include his wife, Patricia, his son, Matthew T. Pinick, Kansas City; two daughters, Rebekah R. Pinick and Sariah K. Pinick, both of Columbia, Mo.; his mother, Anna Marie Pinick, Westmoreland; and a sister, Brenda Heptig, Wamego.

Services will be 10 a.m. Aug. 28, at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Westmoreland City cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time in the church education building. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Thomas K. Pinick and will be designated later. Memorials may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, Kan.

OLIVER RIDENOUR

Oliver Ridenour, 83, Council Grove, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, in Morris County Hospital, Council Grove.

Mr. Ridenour was born July 6, 1917, in Clay Center, Kan., and had lived in Grain Valley from 1959 to 1963 before moving to Council Grove. He grew up near Reading, Kan., and graduated from Emporia (Kan.) High School. He served 33 months overseas in the Army Air Force in North Africa, through the invasion of Sicily and the occupation of Italy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty McIntosh Ridenour in 1987.

His survivors include a son, Philip Ridenour, Cimarron, Kan.; three daughters, Jane Jones, Susan Gough, Boise, Idaho, and Beth Ridenour, Lawrence, Kan.; a brother, Gerald Ridenour, Council Grove; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and was the brother-in-law of Frank and Dorothy Greene, Grain Valley.

A memorial celebration and tribute of his life was held Aug. 13, 1999, at the Kendall Funeral Chapel, Council Grove. Private burial was in Reading.

LEON A. LEWIS

Leon Alfred Lewis, 83, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at the Blue Springs Care Center.

Mr. Lewis was born Sept. 9, 1915, in Howard County, Mo. He was a real estate agent. He was a charter member of the Fairmount Lions Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended Mount Washington Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Michael and Amy Frazier.

His survivors include his wife of 64 years, Catherine Lewis of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna L. and Chris Belcher, Blue Springs, and Delores A. and Maurice Frazier, Independence; a brother, Clifford Lewis, Moberly, Mo.; a sister, Velma Palmatory, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a grandson, Ron Frazier; three granddaughters, Laura Geist, Lisa Welch and Kim Carico; two great-grandsons, Jason Frazier and Matt Geist; and a great-granddaughter, Erica Frazier.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in the Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from noon until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the KC Hospice.

PAULINE H. OWENS

Pauline H. Owens, 81, Independence, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Owens was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Webster, Kan. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church.

Her survivors include two daughters, Wanda M. Holliday, Independence, and Marlene Perkins, Kansas City; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Floral Hills Chapel.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from noon until service time at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church or to the KC Hospice.

JEANETTE J. PETERSON

Jeanette J. Coffman Peterson, 91, Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Peterson was born July 16, 1907, in Eldon, Mo. She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence E. Peterson.

Her survivors include two sons, Delbert Peterson, Independence, and Terry Peterson, Wheaton, Ill.; two daughters, Wanda Robbins, Tonganoxie, Kan., and Sandra Crawford of the home; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at Charter Funerals/Kansas Chapel, Merriam, Kan. The family suggests contributions to St. Luke's Shawnee Mission Hospice.

MASON T. UTT

Mason Thomas Utt, infant son of Thomas Utt and Sarah Hall of Independence, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at Children's Mercy Hospital.

Mason was born Sept. 23, 1998, at Children's Mercy Hospital.

His survivors include his parents, and a brother, Drake Utt, all of the home; and his grandparents, Ann Spears, Lee's Summit, and Michael Utt and Shirley Hall, both of Independence.

Private graveside services will be at Mound Grove cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Mason T. Utt Memorial Fund, in care of Bannister Bank, 601 S.E. Melody Lane, Lee's Summit, Mo. 64063. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
