Margaret Florence Pauline Skaggs
Margaret Florence Pauline Skaggs nee Valley of Cuba, Missouri was born on February 5, 1941 at Potosi, Missouri to the union of Theodore Valley and Esther Lachance Valley and passed away on November 21, 2003 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 16 days.
On April 16, 1956 Margaret was united in marriage to Carroll Skaggs at Bonne Terre, Missouri. They have been happily married for 47 years.
Margaret was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Valley and one sister Esther Curtis.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving husband Carroll Skaggs; three sons, Joe Skaggs and wife Angela, Ronnie Skaggs and wife Debbie and Carl Skaggs; one daughter, Esther Schroeder and husband Roy; four brothers, Lewis Valley, Melvin Valley, Marvin Valley and Phillip Stotler; six sisters, Nadine Hodges, Dorothy Walker, Irene Reed, Bermida Sweeney, Audrey Cortor and Betty Howard; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Margaret Florence Pauline Skaggs nee Valley was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Monday, November 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold Harrison officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery of Sullivan, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Lula Mae Prince Twenhoefel
Lula Mae Prince Twenhoefel (nee Roper) passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 5 days.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husbands, Tommy Prince and George Twenhoefel, her son, Calvin (Sonny), six brothers, George Washington, James Monroe, Jr., John Henry, William (Buddy), David Hartley and Harold Dean; one sister Mary Catherine Prince; and one great-grandson Padin Callahan.
She was born on July 20, 1917, in Columbus, Kansas to James Monroe Roper and Amanda (Harned) Roper. She married Tommy Newton Prince on July 31, 1936 in St. Louis, one son was born to this union, Calvin Douglas Prince, born on June 5, 1940.
She was one of ten members of the Prince family to work at St. Louis Independent Packing. She left Independent and went to work at Wagner Electric Strain Machine, making cables. In 1948 she left Wagner Electric to move to the farm on the Huzzah River in Dillard, Missouri. She wanted Sonny to attend a "country school." Tom stayed in St. Louis to work, coming home on the weekends to visit the family and do his farming.
In 1962, she was baptized in the Huzzah River and joined the Lookout Assembly of God Church. She loved her church and church music. Later, when her health prevented her from attending, she always made an effort to attend televised services.
After Tommy's death in 1969, she went to work at the Cuba Shoe Factory, Golden Echoes Senior Center, Cuba Nursing Home and the Cuba McDonalds. In 1992 she retired due to health issues. On June 8, 1984, she married George Twenhoefel, in Troy, Missouri. George passed away in 1985.
Lu and Tom's home was always open to anyone that needed a meal, bed or just a friend. You were always welcome, for a day or a month. It was up to you.
Her family was always the priority. She saw they had a roof over their head and food to eat, even when it took her last dollar. She considered friends and neighbors part of her extended family and always went out of her way to help those less fortunate.
She never said "good-bye," any visit or phone call was always ended with "God loves you and so do I." When someone was leaving after a visit she gave the same advise, "Drive careful and take the Lord with you."
Lu is survived by one grandson Stan Prince of Sullivan, Missouri; granddaughter Tina Dickens and husband Lonnie of Cuba, Missouri; one special niece Arnetta Williams of Wright City, Missouri; one step-granddaughter Joy Schneider and husband Jerry of Sullivan, Missouri; one step-grandson Michael Callahan and wife Tammy of Cuba, Missouri; 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandson; sister-in-law Zelda Prince of Linn, Missouri; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
Lula Mae Prince Twenhoefel (nee Roper) lay in state at the Britton Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri on Saturday, November 29, 2003 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services were on Sunday, November 30, 2003 at 2 p.m.
Interment at the Sellers cemetery, Dillard, Missouri. Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Lonnie Dickens, Danny Deroy, Ron Sellers, Mathew Prince, Glenn Prince, Charles Prince, Michael Callahan and David Callahan served as pallbearers.
All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Gail Payne Welsch
Eileen Gail Payne Welsch nee Hutson of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, July 9, 1956 at Steelville, Missouri to Louis Hutson and Juanita Ruth Worley Hutson. She passed away at Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton, Illinois on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at the age of 47 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Gail was married on July 14, 1972 to Richard Payne in Steelville, Missouri and to this union seven children were born.
Gail was a homemaker most of her adult life and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her hobbies were camping, sewing, working puzzles, going to yard sales and being outdoors.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Roger Hutson and an infant sister, Paula Hutson.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Daniel Welsch; her children Ricky Lewis Payne, Jamie Shawn Payne and Timothy Lee Payne, all of Bourbon, Mo., Tonja Gail Payne and fiancé Andrew Beakley and Christy Ann Payne and fiancé Scott Ledbetter, all of St. James, Mo., Rhonda Dawn Rowden and husband Mark of Leasburg, Mo. and Jeremy Lucas Payne of Licking, Mo.; one sister Rita Darlene Dicus and husband Tim of Cuba, Mo.; five grandchildren Lucas Payne, Jacob Rowden, Quentin Ledbetter, Rayanna Beakley and Chauntel Payne; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation was Monday, November 24, 2003 from 9-11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Chapel in Cuba, Mo.
Funeral services were Monday, November 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating. Interment at New Home cemetery, Keysville, Mo. with pallbearers Richard Payne, Ricky Payne, Jamie Payne, Timothy Payne, Andrew Beakley, and Tim Dicus.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.

Clark “Pete” D. Lewis
Clark “Pete” Lewis was born May 27, 1922 to the late Clarence and Marie Lewis and passed away July 18, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille “Lucy”; son, John Lewis; four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by sons, Robert Lewis and wife Lana of St. Peters, Missouri and Michael Lewis and wife Judy of Owensville, Missouri; sister, Grace Wilson of Eureka, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Kinder cemetery with Stephen Brubaker officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.

Charles Joseph Nagle
Charles Joseph Nagle of St. Charles, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born on August 1, 1936, the son of William Charles and Anna A. Nagle, and passed away July 17, 2007.
Charles married Maryhelen Groezinger on December 8, 1956.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank Nagle, Forrest Nagle, James Nagle and John Nagle; three sisters, Betty Jane Martin, Delores Sanders and Wilma Decker.
Survivors include his wife, of St. Charles, Missouri; children, Chuck Jr. of Tennessee, Larry and wife Teri of St. Louis, Missouri, Barb and Steve Camonznaol of St. Charles, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Four brothers, Richard Nagle of Cuba, Missouri, Bill and wife Pauline of Florissant, Missouri, Dennes and wife Brenda of Fenton, Missouri, David and wife Barbara of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Ann and husband Anthony Canania of St. Louis County, Missouri, and Mary and husband Robert Bowman of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Funeral services were held on July 19, 2007 at the Shepard Funeral Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri.

Derl Schatz
Derl Cecil Schatz of Bourbon, Missouri, was born in rural Sullivan to Cecil and Vora M. (Antisdell) Schatz, and passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the age of 74 years.
He was a life-ling resident of the Sullivan and Spring Bluff area. He was a graduate of Sullivan High School class of 1950 where he was charter member and president of the FFA. He honorably served his country with U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was discharged in March of 1960 with the rank of Quartermaster.
On November 2, 1957 he was united in marriage to Dema Neff at Holy Martyrs of Japan, Missouri Catholic Church and to this union five children were born.
He was a 42-year employee with the Missouri Department of Transportation starting with a survey crew and later becoming a senior construction inspector. During his career, he also farmed near Bourbon, Missouri, raising cattle. He was a member of the Franklin County Soil Conservation Board, former 4-H leader and board member of the MFA Cooperative of Sullivan, Missouri. He was a member of Holy Martyrs of Japan, Parish, Japan, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Jerry Schatz and son-in-law, Rick Stumpe.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Dirk Schatz and wife Sally Jo, Matt Schatz and Kirk Schatz and wife Penni, all of Sullivan, Missouri; two daughters, Scarlett Stumpe of Linn, Missouri and Sabrina Hardin and husband Wes of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Dale Schatz and wife Maxine of Kirksville, Missouri; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Johanning and Debbie Schatz; other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 from Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church, Japan, Missouri with Father James Finder officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Dorothy Helen Wheeler
Dorothy H. Wheeler of Bourbon, formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, May 16, 1920 at Hinch, Missouri to the union of Harley Brown and Marjorie (nee Gruwell) Brown and passed away Saturday, July 20, 2007 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 4 days.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Bert Wheeler on May 29, 1940 at Denton, Missouri and they then spent their wedding day planting an acre of tomatoes, which became a tradition every year there after. To this union four children were born.
Dorothy worked for the Crawford County R-II School District as a cook for many years and then for the St. Louis archdiocese in Sullivan, Missouri as a cook and housekeeper. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, her gardens both flowers and veggies. She was an excellent cook, collected angels, loved to be outdoors and would do all the chores on the farm each day. She had a great love for children, not only for her own, but all children.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Gene and Jimmy Wheeler; one infant daughter, Joy Faye Wheeler; three brothers, Clifford, Clinton and Haskell Brown; three sisters, Buhla, Verna and Shirley and many other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Kaye Byrd of Huntsville, Arkansas; one granddaughter “her pride and joy”, Lisa and husband James Turner of Springdale, Arkansas; one brother, Tracy and wife Dorothy Brown; one sister-in-law, Betty Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, July 23, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Special music was “Amazing Grace,” “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment was at the Kinder cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Leon Scott White
Leon Scott White of Cuba, Missouri was born May 18, 1940 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of James White and Iva (nee Scott) White and passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Leon was united in marriage to Barbara Spoon at Rolla, Missouri in 1964 and to this union three children were born.
Leon served in the United States Army during the 1960’s were he learned to operate heavy equipment. After the service he continued as a heavy equipment operator and worked building bridges for the Local Union #513 in St. Louis, Missouri for 45 years before he retired.
After retirement he got to enjoy hunting, fishing, the Country Club in Steelville (always to be there at 6 p.m.) his garden, riding his four wheeler, taking the scenic route when ever he went for a drive, old time country music, Matlock and Walker Texas Ranger.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents, James and Iva White; his wife, Barbara White; one infant son, Joe White; two brothers, Tom and Donald White and other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, Leigh-Anna White and friend Kevin Hunter of Cuba, Missouri and Kimberly and husband Bill Cuddy of Meadowview, Virginia; five grandchildren, Meghan Earley, Andy and Katie Cuddy, Brady and Charleigh Hunter; one sister, Dixie and husband Dean Northington; three brothers, Frank and wife Sylvia, Vernon and wife Sharon and Bob and wife Lucy White, nieces, nephews and many friends that were just like family.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 24, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Britton Funeral Home. Special music for the service was “Oh My Darlin,” “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon” and “Live Like You Were Dying.”
Pallbearers were Mike Northington, Lonnie Scott, Robbie Harris, Brian White, Kevin White, Jason Basham. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Farris and Bob Basham.
Interment followed at Kinder cemetery, Cuba, Missouri, with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Raymond George Brenner
Raymond George Brenner of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Herman and Anna (Albach) Brenner on July 21, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 70 years and 10 days.
Ray was united in marriage to Judy A. (Wilkerson) Hopwood on September 17, 2002 in Steelville, Missouri.
He retired from St. Louis County Parks & Recreation Dept. after many years of service. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. and enjoyed fishing, wood working, landscaping and long drives in the country.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Brenner; one brother, Herman J. “Bud” Brenner and one sister, Arline Hampton.
He is survived by his wife, of Cuba, Missouri; two sons, Jeff and wife Tracey Brenner of Grover, Missouri, and Tom and wife Andrea Brenner of St. Charles; two adopted children, Corey Brenner of Willow Springs, Missouri and Erin Brenner of Alabama; three step-sons, Tim and wife Tami Hopwood of Texas, Kenny and wife Lisa Hopwood of Cuba, Missouri and Dennis and wife Barb Hopwood of Cuba, Missouri; four grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Graveside service was Friday, August 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Delhi cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
