Glen Ray Hinshaw

Glen Ray Hinshaw of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Clifford A. and Katherine M. (Potter) Hinshaw on May 1, 1937 in Hindsville, Arkansas and passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 25 days.

Glen was united marriage to Ruth L. Smith on July 30, 1974 in Miami, Oklahoma.

Glen was a retired truck driver for Trumble Asphalt Company, Hazelwood, Missouri. He enjoyed traveling, camping, his many trips to Branson, Missouri, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jimmy Hinshaw.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Debbie and husband Gary Hendricks of St. Louis, Missouri, Sheri and husband Jerry Redus of Pacific, Missouri; four brothers, Arlis and Olden Metcalf, Troy Lee and Eugene E. Hinshaw; three sisters, Marcella Morgan, Mary Ellen Pitchford and Shirley Kimbrell; two sister-in-laws, Evelyn and husband Wayne Sanders and Elizabeth “Libby” Priest both of Hazelwood, Missouri; three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service was held Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove cemetery 7800 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, Missouri with Rev. Gary Hendricks, officiating.

Arrangements were under the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Martha “Sis” McClary

Martha Lillian McClary nee Pennock of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Tuesday, July 2, 1929 in Bourbon, Missouri to Jesse J. Pennock and Rosa Jones Pennock. She passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at the age of 78 years and 20 days.

Martha married James "Bunk" McClary on September 26, 1945 in Cuba, Missouri and to this union nine children were born.

Martha accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age, and attended Calvary Baptist Church, Bourbon, Missouri, then later Cross Roads Baptist Church, Leasburg, Missouri. She was an extraordinary woman, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, always putting other's needs before hers. She was also a caregiver, taking care of her father-in-law and mother until they were called home. She was a multi-talented woman, cooking, sewing, gardening, playing the guitar, and singing with her family.

She worked outside the home for several years at the Bourbon Laundry Mat, and Clark's Cleaners in Sullivan, Missouri. After retirement, she volunteered at the Agape House, Bourbon, Missouri, until her failing health forced her to stop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Robert and Verda McClary; daughter, Dee West and son, Mark McClary; granddaughter, Shelly McClary; great granddaughter, Carmen King; six brothers and wives, Bob and Emma, Lawrence and Mildred, Lee and Helen, Jesse, Rodger, and Ted Pennock; two sisters, Nellie Rapplean, Daisy and Wendal Paul; brother-in-law, Gene McClary and wife Leatha.

She is survived by her husband of the home; children, Jimmie McClary of Leasburg, Missouri, Brad McClary of Sullivan, Missouri, Randy (Toni) McClary of Owensville, Missouri, Jay (Rini) McClary, Donna McLin, Debbie (Ralph) King, all of Leasburg, Missouri, and Della (Dave) Hodge of Branson, Missouri; sister, Peggy Reeves of Bourbon, Missouri; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Delores Pennock, Kenneth (Gloria) McClary, Ronnie (Jane) McClary, and Lorene Carter all of Sullivan, Missouri, Leon McClary of Springfield, Missouri, Jr. (Patsy) McClary of Bourbon, Missouri and Mamie (Loren) Gallion of St. Marie, Illinois; 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 24, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church, Leasburg, Missouri with Rev. Bobby Higgins officiating. Burial at Bourbon cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri with grandchildren as pallbearers.

All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.

Michael E. Cunningham

Michael Earl Cunningham of Cuba, Missouri was born in Alton, Illinois on Wednesday, April 12, 1967 to Donald Cunningham and June Marie Looney Cunningham. He passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital-Sullivan on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the age of 40 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Michael lived most of his life in Cuba, Missouri and graduated from Cuba High School. He was previously employed in maintenance at Voss Truck Port. He attended The Northside Full Gospel Mission. His hobbies were fishing, playing horseshoes, listening to country music and working on cars with his dad when he was living.He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Lynn Cunningham of Union, Missouri; brothers, Donald Cunningham of Columbia, Missouri, Joe Cunningham of Danville, Illinois, Roger Cunningham (Cathy) of Cuba, Missouri, Ronald Cunningham (Melinda) of St. James, Missouri, Charles Cunningham (Janet) of Salem, Missouri, Edward Cunningham (Janet) of Steelville, Missouri; sisters, Donna Davis (Gary) of Cuba, Missouri; fiancé, Judy Wyndam of Cuba, Missouri; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral service was Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. James and Mrs. Gruver officiating.

All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.

Charles Daniel Dale

Charles Daniel Dale of Salem, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the age of 79 years.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Louise Dale and two daughters, Sally Ann Elwood and husband Vincent and Johnita Sue Wells, all of Salem, Missouri.

Brother, Robert Lee Dale and wife Virginia of Salem, Missouri; sister, Hattie Hutchings and Laura Williams and husband Dan, all of Salem, Missouri.

Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel in Salem, Missouri.

Masonic services were at 7 p.m. Tuesday with military honors at the cemetery. Interment was in the Cedar Grove cemetery of Salem, Missouri.

Rita J. Frees

Rita J. Frees of Cuba, Missouri was born July 4, 1953 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of David Thomas Cates and Thelma Joyce (nee Kitchens) Cates and left from this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 53 years 10 months and 19 days.

She was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Frees on June 20, 1985 at Steelville, Missouri.

Rita enjoyed making and painting ceramics, going to craft shows to display and sell her arts and crafts that she made by hand and taking classes to enhance her painting skills.

She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents, David Thomas and Thelma Joyce Cates and other relatives and friends.

Those who are left to mourn her passing are her loving husband, Mike Frees of Cuba, Missouri; one brother Tommy Cates and two sisters, Nancy and Rebecca Cates, all of the High Ridge, Missouri area.

Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Karl Ray Payne

Karl Ray Payne, 54, of Davisville, Missouri was born Friday, June 20, 1952 in Courtois, Missouri, the son of Cleatis and Lena (Bell) Payne. He passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Karl was united in marriage to Vicky Nelson September 29, 1972 in Viburnum, Missouri and to this union three children were born.

He had worked as a heavy equipment operator in the mining industry. He had first worked for Amax, and presently was employed with Doe Run Co. for the last 12 years. He loved hunting, dogs, horses and especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold and one sister, Verla Gibbs and husband Dale.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jason Payne and wife Monica of Davisville, Missouri and Cleatis Payne and wife Deana of Caledonia, Missouri; one daughter, Karla Payne and companion Mark of Davisville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Trevor, Kalynn, Alexis, Cameron and JayRay.

Two brothers, Dorman Payne of Potosi, Missouri and Norman Payne and wife Cindy of Davisville, Missouri; two sisters, Judy Turnbough and husband Jim of Davisville, Missouri and Joy Hedrick and husband Dave of Davisville, Missouri; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Payne of Davisville, Missouri and one uncle, Jerry Bell of Arkansas.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Davis officiating.

Special music of “Praise You in this Storm,” “Believe,” “Carry On,” and “Go Rest High on the Mountain” were played.

Special remembrances of her father were shared by Karla Payne.

Serving as casket bearers were Steve Jimmerson, Tracy Willhite, Chance Hedrick, Rick Turnbough, Ryan Yount, Chuck Radford, Norman Payne Jr. and Bill Barton.

Honorary bearers were Bob Kennedy, Joe Miner, Trevor, JayRay and Cameron Payne with committal prayers and burial in the Maple Grove cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Delores Marie Sego

Delores Marie Sego of Cuba, Missouri was born July 13, 1929 at Dillard, Missouri to the union of George Henry Bruner and Leota Mae (nee Alcorn) Bruner and left from this life on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Waynesville, Missouri at the age of 77 years 10 months and 9 days.

Delores was united in marriage to George William “Bill” Sego on September 14, 1962 at Cuba, Missouri.

The most important thing in Delores life was spending time with her children and being grandma, but in her spare time she enjoyed gardening, sewing, the outdoors and going for walks.

Delores was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Leota Bruner; husband, George William “Bill” Sego; two brothers, William and John Bruner and other relatives and friends.

Those who are left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Michael R. and wife Laura Young of Monongahela, PA and Kevin L. Young of Cuba, Missouri; one daughter, Deborah and husband Joe Tarnowski of Stirling, New Jersey; two brothers, Jack and wife Marguerite Bruner of Costa Rica and Ronald Bruner of Waynesville, Missouri; two sisters, Loeta and husband Cliff Crews of Potosi, Missouri and Deanna and husband Luke Youngman of Columbia, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces, nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Friday, May 25, 2007 from 9-11 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba with Rev. Jim Young officating. Interment at Meramec Hills cemetery, Cuba.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Eileen “Meme” Cape

Eileen “Meme” Cape was born Saturday, January 3, 1920 in Hinch, Liberty Township, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Jesse (Harmon) Clonts. She passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 87.

She was married to Gerald Eldon Cape on May 13, 1936 in Rolla, Missouri, enjoying 50 years together. In 1948, Jana and Lana came into their lives and completed their family. Gerald passed away February 26, 1987.

Eileen was a helpmate to her husband and a homemaker. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; seven brothers, Buck, Estel, Lester, Glenn, Raymond, Darrell and Paul Clonts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Reba Cape, Theresa and Ed Schwieder, Elaine and Russell Cape, Juanita and Norman Cape and James Cape.

She is survived by her daughters, Jana Earhart and husband Darryl and Lana Haffer and husband Jim; four grandchildren, Tracey Keeven and husband Jeff, Gerald Earhart and wife Crystal, Ruth Diaz and husband Carlos and Blake Haffer and wife Suzie; eight great grandchildren, Jessica Keeven, Clayton Earhart, Devin, Alexis, Tanner, Courtney and Conner Diaz and Bailey Haffer, all of Steelville, Missouri.

Two brothers, Lindell Clonts and wife Christine of St. James, Missouri and Emery Clonts and wife Marlene of Steelville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Donna Clonts of Ballwin, Missouri, Lillian Clonts of Phoenix, Arizona, Margaret Cape of Steelville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Burdett Cape of West Plains, Missouri; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 28, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with the Revs. Mary Arnold and Matt Cook officiating. Special music of “When We all get to Heaven” and “I’ll Fly Away” was played by Jerry Beers.

Serving as casket bearers were Kem Schwieder, Jim Cape, Harold Cape, Brian Clonts, Denny Clonts and Jerry Cape with committal prayers and burial in the Hibler cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.

Esther C. Donal

Esther C. Donal was born Friday, November 13, 1925 in the Cherry Valley, the daughter of Warfel and Dora (Causey) Halbert. She passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 81.

Esther was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Donal on June 5, 1946 in Potosi, Missouri and to this union four sons were born.

Esther was an owner of an antique shop and was always looking for glassware. She was a member of the Davisville American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She will be remembered for working bingo at Gibbs Care Center and making lap blankets for the veteran residents at Gibbs Care Center and anyone else who needed one.

For many years she was known to put flags on the graves of our American veterans in many cemeteries. She loved to cook, quilt, and crochet. She was a rockhound and her knowledge of rocks was extensive.

She is survived by three sons, Roger Donal and wife Darlene of Steelville, Missouri, Jerry Donal and wife Carla of Florissant, Missouri and Bruce Donal and wife Cheryl of Cherryville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Anita Donal, Clinton Donal and wife Kristina, Andrew Donal and wife Tina, Juniora Donal, Kenneth Donal and Douglas Donal; five great grandchildren, Jaden Xander Riley Donal, Cierra Donal, Zachary William Donal, Cadance Nicole Donal and Andrew Biondo.

Two brothers, Albert Halbert of Steelville, Missouri and Gean Halbert of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Irene Richards of Steelville, Missouri and Lois Anderson and husband Jack of Aldrich, Missouri; nephews; nieces and other family friends.

VFW services were conducted Friday, April 28, 2007 by the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW. Funeral services were Saturday, April 28, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” was sung by granddaughter, Anita Donal.

Serving as casket bearers were Clinton Donal, Kenneth Donal, Andy Donal, Douglas Donal, Jeff King and Wilbur King with committal prayers and burial in the Steelville, cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.

Freida Fierce

Freida Fierce was born Sunday, October 31, 1948 in Cherryville, Missouri, the daughter of Emmit and Eva (nee Callahan) Harris and passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the age of 58 years.

Freida worked in the home health care for Missouri Home Care. She had a love for butterflies and hummingbirds. She enjoyed being outdoors especially sitting in the quiet surroundings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles Fierce and two brothers, Albert and Dwight Harris.

She is survived by sons, Christopher Fierce and wife Tracy of Dixon, Missouri Joey Fierce of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; daughters, Alice Galayda and husband Skip of Steelville, Missouri, Becky McConnell and husband Jesse of Cuba, Missouri and Carrie Scott and husband Bert of Cuba, Missouri and Christine Wachter of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Haffer and husband Walter of Cuba, Missouri and Lucille Green and husband Glen of Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating.

Special music of “Peace like a River” and “Amazing Grace” were played.

Serving as casket bearers were Skip Galayda, Jesse McConnell, Bert Scott, Bub Galayda, Glen Green and Walter Haffer with committal prayers and burial in the Martin cemetery in Cherryville, Missouri.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
