Dale Wayne Lunsford Jr.

Dale Wayne Lunsford, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on Saturday, October 21, 1972 in Rolla, Missouri to Dale W. Lunsford, Sr. and Beverly Plank Lunsford. He passed away on Monday, April 23, 2007 at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Dale worked in construction as a concrete finisher. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aryen Lunsford; grandfather, Clarence Plank; and uncle, Mike Lunsford.

He is survived his parents of Steelville, Missouri; children, Shawn Booher of Jackson, Missouri, Nicholas Lunsford of Steelville, Missouri, Germany Lunsford and Maddox Lunsford, all of Cuba, Missouri; grandparents, Norman and Sylvia Lunsford of Steelville, Missouri and Edna Plank and Jim Flock of Sullivan, Missouri; brother, Bill Lunsford of Steelville, Missouri; cousins and friends.

Visitation was Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.

Funeral service was Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Burial at Steelville cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with pallbearers Joe Turnbough, Jason Turnbough, Michael Davis, Kyle Davis, Preston Gillam and Michael Lorraine.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

George William Ziebol

George William Ziebol was born Saturday, October 24, 1935 in Glenwood, Illinois, the son of the late George Otto Ziebol and Lavelette Virginia (Williams) Brandon. He passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 at the University of Missouri Health Center in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 71.

George was married to Frances Setzer and to this union four daughters were born. He later married Joan Howard on December 20, 1993 in Bridgeton, Missouri.

George had worked as a washer and dryer service technician in laundry sales and service in the St. Louis area. He had served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, serving overseas in the Pacific Ana Rittode.

While living in Steelville, George can be remembered as a caring and giving person. He would do anything for anybody. He loved to cook and prepare meals for others. He loved to can jelly and pickles and share them with different ones. Although he wasn’t physically able to do much, what he could do in the kitchen made up for it. He loved to ride up and down the street on his scooter with his puppy dog.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Bosch and Patsy Blank.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; four daughters, Kathleen Key and husband James of Harrison, Arkansas, Susan Martin and husband Ron of Camdenton, Missouri, Cindy Martin and husband Rick of Steelville, Missouri, Merry Mularchuk and husband Cort of Jacksonville, North Carolina; one step daughter, Jeana Van Slyke of O’Fallon, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Two brothers, Richard Ziebol of California and Johnnie Ziebol and wife Jena of Libertyville, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie McDonald and husband Talmadge of St. Ann, Missouri and Jo Ree Keller of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Jesse Blank.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 6 p.m. at the Steelville Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Beers and Rev. Frank Vance officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross” were sung by Darla Vance with Jerry Beers accompanying. Special remembrances were given by his daughter, Cindy Martin. The song “Go Rest High on a Mountain” was sung by George’s grandchildren, Anthony and Tenise Martin.

Serving as casket bearers were Joe Martin, Ben Martin, Anthony Martin, Scott Key, Robert Van Slyke and Brad Brown. Burial was Friday, April 27, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. in the Jefferson Barracks National cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Cindy Martin having closing scriptures and prayer. Military Funeral Honors were given by American Legion Post 162.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.

Rodney Housewright

Rodney Alan Housewright, Steelville, Missouri, was born Friday, December 26, 1952 in Rolla, Missouri, the son of Robert and Anna Belle (Jones) Housewright, and passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 54 years.

He liked to hunt and fish. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a graduate of Southwest Baptist University.

He is survived by three sons, Rob Housewright and wife Jennifer of Steelville, Missouri, Blake Housewright and wife Jaymee of St. Louis, Missouri and Chris Housewright of St. Louis, Missouri; three granddaughters, Kelsey, Madison and Chloe.

Memorial services were held Saturday evening, March 24, 2007 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Kevin Farr officiating.

Special of “Memories,” “When I get where I’m going” and “Got Rest High on the Mountain” were played. Remembrances of his father were given by Blake Housewright.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Shilynne Pauline Ann Johnson

Shilynne Pauline Ann Johnson was born on August 12, 1988 to Michelle Johnson and passed away March 23, 2007 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 18 years.

She worked at McDonalds and was part of the Art Club in St. James High School and the Future Business Leaders of America.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bascorn Johnson.

She is survived by parents, Michelle Johnson and Philip Sindeff of Vichy, Missouri; brother, Sean Johnson and fiancé Michelle of Bourbon, Missouri; sister, Catherine Johnson and husband Juan Mantilla of Union, Missouri; brother, Matthew Sindeff of Vichy, Missouri.

Half brother, Randy Nethercutt of Stockton, California; half sister, Emma Lou Nethercutt of Long Beach, California; grandparents, Allen and Faye La Torre, Doris Ann Sindeff, Edward and Jean Ann Hinds; special aunts, Jeanann England and Autumn Soliz; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation was Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. at the James & Gahr Chapel in St. James, Missouri.

Funeral services were held March 28, 2007 at the James & Gahr Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Gene Branson officiating.

Pallbearers were Misty Knock, Jamie Meyers, Michael Clancy, Terry Reeves Jr., Elizabeth Keehn, Cody Rother and Earl Briggs.

Interment was in the High Gate cemetery in Maries County, Missouri.

Arrangements were under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.

Jesse Mueller Lorts

Jesse Mueller Lorts of St. James, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Jesse was the son of Jesse Lee Lorts and Anna Mueller Lorts. He was born on July 13, 1929 in rural St. James, Missouri.

He married Rose Mary Spilman on July 24, 1958 and to this union three children were born.

Jesse graduated from John F. Hodge High School in 1947. He then went to Reisch School of Auctioneering in 1953 at Mason City, Iowa and became an auctioneer. He was an auctioneer for 54 years and in the cattle business.

He purchased the St. James Auction Company from his father and he and Rose Mary owned and operated it from the early 1960s until 1979. After he sold the St. James Auction Company they began having household and farm auctions under the company name of Lorts Auction Service. His sons later went to the Reisch Auctioneering School in Mason City, Iowa and joined him in the auction business for which he was very proud.

Jesse never met a stranger. He enjoyed his six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rose Mary on September 14, 2002; and his daughter-in-law, Sharon Williams Lorts in 2005.

Jesse is survived by his three children, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Birkner and husband Rick, Larry Wayne Lorts and Gary Randall Lorts, all of St. James, Missouri; six grandchildren, John Richard Birkner, Stephanie Elizabeth Birkner, Ashley Nicole Lorts, Whitney Ann Lorts, Justin Tyler Lorts and Dylan Ross Lorts, all of St. James, Missouri; sister, Dorothy Pool and husband Bob of Iowa; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri. The Lord’s Prayer was recited during the service.

Pallbearers were Randy Ray, Bruce Gilder, Ray Brandenburger, Kerry Feeler, Jodie Sanders and Larry Bock.

Honorary pallbearers were Bernard Underwood, Gene Underwood, Ronald Lambeth, Otis Williams, Roy Dillon, George Smith, Dr. Glen Strauser, Doyle Gray, Jack Crafton, Bud Lorts and Allen Thompson.

Interment at the St. James cemetery with the 23rd Psalm being read.

Arrangements were under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary, St. James, Missouri.

Glen Turnbough

Glen Turnbough was born Tuesday, February 1, 1921 in Crawford County, the son of Wayne and Luettie (Scott) Turnbough and passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the Harry S Truman Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Juanita Payne in December of 1945 in Union, Missouri and to this union two sons and one daughter were born.

Glen served his country during WWII as a Ball Turrett Gunner on the 551st Bomb Squad in the Army Air Force over Germany. After being shot down on a mission, he endured 14 months of hardship as a prisoner of war in German camps. After being freed he came back to Steelville, Missouri where he worked in the timber industry and farming. He loved to bowl and was a member of the Senior Bowling League, Disabled American Veterans and the Trappers Association. He loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; one sister-in-law, Opal Turnbough and two brothers-in-law, Frank Guess and Walter Walden.

He is survived by his two sons, Glenwood Turnbough and wife Bonnie of Steelville, Missouri and Roger Turnbough and wife Becky of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Peggy Benson and husband Harry of Lodi, Wisconsin.

Four grandchildren, Cody Turnbough of Steelville, Missouri, Jennifer Rake and husband Tim of Lodi, Wisconsin, Jeffrey Benson of Westland, Michigan and Jaime Benson of Lodi, Wisconsin; one great granddaughter, Samantha; two brothers, Clarence Turnbough of Cuba, Missouri and Gilbert Turnbough and wife Louise of Steelville, Missouri; three sisters, Verniece Lea and husband Hack of Steelville, Missouri, Pauline Walden of Arnold, Missouri and Fran Guess of Steelville, Missouri.

Funeral services were Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Sanders officiating.

Special music of “What a Friend We have in Jesus,” “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by the trio of Joyce Vaughn, Kay and Rob Housewright with Wanda Ransom accompanying. Remembrances of his dad’s life were given by Roger Turnbough.

Serving as casket bearers were Cody Turnbough, Jeffery Benson, Tim Rake, Gary Lea, Treff Earney and Mike Turnbough.

Military honors were given by the VFW Post #5608 of St. James, Missouri with flag presentation by the U.S. Force.

Burial and committal prayers were in the Steelville cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Hester Amelia Chrapek

Hester Amelia Chrapek, daughter of the late William and Carrie Cooksey, was born March 19, 1937 in Sligo, Missouri and passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Hester grew up in Sligo and attended Cherryville High School. After graduation she attended Miss Hickey’s Secretarial School in St. Louis, Missouri. She was employed by various loan and legal offices as a secretary.

Her interests included gardening, both flowers and vegetables, as well as sewing and quilting. She greatly enjoyed her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Chrapek Sr.; sister, Helen Cooksey and brother, Kenneth Cooksey.

She is survived by children, John and Teri Griggs, Sharon Griggs and Danny Arnold, Linda and Jim Garrison and Edward F. Chrapek Jr.; grandchildren, Candace, Carly, Catrina, John Jr., Tiffany, Amber, Mandy, Matthew and Jason; sister, Ruth Bell; many other relatives and friends.

Interment was in the Jefferson Barricks National cemetery.

America “Mickie” Victory Enloe

America “Mickie” Victory Enloe of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007 in the Cuba Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the last six years. She was 88 years of age.

Mickie was born on November 20, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the daughter of the late William Frederick Sever and Mary Margaret Stockton Sever.

Mickie was joined in marriage to Leonard Blackwell and to this union a son, Gary and a daughter, Mary were born. Leonard passed away in 1954. Mickie worked in the International Shoe Factory in Bland, Missouri; as a beautician and a teacher in the State School in Linn, Missouri. On March 12, 1967 she was married to Louis Enloe in Belle, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Jarvis; two brothers, William and Robert Sever and two sisters, Jodie Weeks and Edna Russell.

She is survived by her husband Louis; son Gary Blackwell and wife Fay of Columbia, Missouri; daughter, Mary Duryee of Cuba, Missouri. Also surviving are Louis’ children, Sandra Enloe of St. Louis, Missouri, Joyce Strain and husband Doyel of Ferguson, Missouri, John Enloe and wife Barb of Ellisville, Missouri, Patricia Enloe of St. Louis, Missouri, Jill Henry and husband Phil of Orlando, Florida and Jack Enloe and wife Janet of Caseyville, Illinois.

Visitation was Tuesday, January 23, 2007 after 4 p.m.

Funeral services were Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland, Missouri.

Interment was in the Bland Union cemetery, Bland, Missouri.

Christopher James Kelleher

Christopher James Kelleher of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, January 17, 1930 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Homer T. and Helen (nee Broski) Kelleher and left from this life on Wednesday, January 24 at Waynesville, Missouri at the age of 77 years and 7 days.

Chris served in the United States Marine Corps twice. He enlisted on January 23, 1947 at St. Louis, Missouri and was discharged January 22, 1950 as a Corporal at Marine Barracks, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He then re-enlisted January 23, 1950 in North Carolina and was discharged January 22, 1953 as a Sergeant in Chicago, Illinois. Chris received the “Commendation Ribbon with Combat “V” on November 30, 1951 for “excellent service in the line of his profession while serving with a Marine infantry battalion during operations against the enemy.”

After serving in the Marine Corps Chris returned to St. Louis, Missouri and started working for the local union as a carpenter. He worked there from 1953 until he joined the iron workers union Local 396 in St. Louis. He helped build the Arch, most of bridges in and around the St. Louis area, the telephone company building and many more places. He was the youngest “Certified” welder with the Local 396 for many years. He retired in 1994 after 36 plus years of dedicated service.

Chris was united in marriage in 1978 to Betsy Ann Argent. They moved to Cuba after Chris retired. He was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 7147. For the past six years Chris and Betsy would bake over a thousand cookies and individually wrap each of them and take them to the veterans at the St. James Veteran’s Home for their family Christmas program. Chris received the “Missouri Korean War Medallion” in 2004 signed by Gov. Bob Holden.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Helen Kelleher and other relatives and friends.

Those who are left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Betsy Ann Kelleher of the home; seven children, Vickie Kelleher, Christopher J. Kelleher, Jr., Michelle and husband Jim Gruele, Cindy Copeland, William and wife Lisa Kelleher and Brian and wife Paige Kelleher, all of the state of California and Craig Kelleher of the state of Illinois.

Two step children, Charles H. and wife Ann Smith and Susan Kim Smith both of St. Louis, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Theresa and husband Bob Shram of the state of Missouri; one sister-in-law, Mary and husband John Burlison of Owensville, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Meramec Hills cemetery with full Military Honors.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
