WADE
Herman Belden "Pea Soup" Wade Jr., 70, Fulton, died Dec. 30, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Columbia, a son of Herman B. and Reba Meadows Wade. He was married in 1952 to Gracia Dyer, who survives at the home.
A Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War, he worked for the state for 35 years before his retirement from Fulton State Hospital in 1988.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Radio Relay League, Callaway Amateur Radio League, American Association of Retired Persons, Retired Missouri State Employees, Governor's Silver Club and VFW Post 2657.
Other survivors include: two nephews, Donald Grimm and Dale Schreen, both of Fulton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
WOLFE
Mable L. Wolfe, 85, Jefferson City, formerly of Linn, died Dec. 31, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born June 9, 1914, in Osage County, a daughter of William and Bessie Branson McDaniel. She was married Aug. 15, 1933, in Linn, to Ernest W. Wolfe, who died June 17, 1990.
A homemaker, she worked in food service at Charles E. Still Hospital for 18 years. She was a member of Community Christian Church, Linn.
She moved to the Heisinger Lutheran Home in 1992.
Survivors include: two sons, Bill R. Wolfe, Jefferson City, and Daniel L. Wolfe, Linn; five daughters, Alice R. Fowler, Temecula, Calif., and Norma J. Jennings, Shirley M. Jaegers, Evelyn J. Gilpin and Sharon K. Czeschin, all of Jefferson City; one brother, Charles H. McDaniel, Lake City, Ark.; one sister, Jessie M. Spillman, Loose Creek; 24 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
One son, Clifford Wolfe, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Community Christian Church. Brother Ted Huston will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn.
Memorials are suggested to Heisinger Lutheran Home or Community Christian Church.
BROCKMAN
Mary A. Brockman, 83, New Bloomfield, died Jan. 1, 2000, at her home.
Arrangements are incomplete at Freeman Mortuary.
JOHNSON
Alice A. Johnson, 89, Jefferson City, died Jan. 1, 2000, at Capital Healthcare Center.
She was born May 13, 1911, in Vaiden, Miss., a daughter of Frank and Magnolia Hudson Austin. She was married May 10, 1930, in Mississippi, to Robert A. Branch, who died March 16, 1964. She was married Aug. 8, 1967, in St. Louis, to Samuel Johnson, who died Dec. 4, 1976.
She attended school in Mississippi and was a graduate of the National School of Practical Nursing, St. Louis. She was a practical nurse at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis until her retirement. She worked as a cook and hostess for the Luncheon Serve Program.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church and Kennerly Temple Church of God in Christ in St. Louis. She was also a member of the Sunday school class, the Y.P.W.W., the senior and radio choir and the Personal Workers Nurse Unit of the church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Learntene B. Enlow, Jefferson City; one brother, Benjamin F. Austin, Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Vera A. Bright, St. Louis; and two granddaughters.
One daughter, Dolores B. Stanley, died June 16, 1965.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Kennerly Temple Church of God in Christ. Bishop R.J. Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Disease Association.
ADAMS
Kyle Rex Adams Sr., 77, Jefferson City, died Jan. 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Gentry County, a son of Russell and Ada Adams. He was married July 26, 1947, in Maryville, to Gerry Gebert, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of Maryville High School, Northwest Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. He coached basketball in Mondamin, Iowa, in 1948, and was head basketball coach at Jefferson City Junior College from 1949 to 1951.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was assistant principal at Jefferson City High School from 1951 to 1984. He served as a doorkeeper in the Missouri Senate from 1984 until 1996.
He was a member of First Christian Church, the Kiwanis Club, the Retired Teachers Association of Missouri and the University of Missouri Alumni Association. In 1999 he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Northwest Missouri State University.
Other survivors include: four sons, Kyle Rex Adams Jr. and Stephen Paul Adams, both of Jefferson City, Timothy Jon Adams, Vancouver, Wash., and Christopher James Adams, Battleground, Wash.; one brother, Richard V. Adams, Larksburg, Colo.; one sister, Fern Magee, Gladstone; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the Sheltered Workshop.
BOTELLO
Cathleen A. Botello, 46, Camdenton, died Jan. 1, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 24, 1953, in Chicago, a daughter of Walter and Norma Linhart Stark, who survive in Camdenton.
She had lived in the Camdenton area since 1992. She was employed as a nurse with Future Care, Inc., a home-health agency, and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Michael A. Botello, of the home; one daughter, Gina Botello, of the home; and one brother, Larry Stark, San Francisco.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton. The Rev. James Fuemmeler will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton.
Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.
COPELAND
Garlin J. Copeland, 75, Laurie, died Jan. 1, 2000, at the Laurie Care Center, Laurie.
He was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Kansas City, Kan. He was married to Shirlie Madison Copeland, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of Argentine High School, Kansas City, Kan. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a home builder in Overland Park, Kan., for many years. He was a charter member of the West Lake Christian Church, Laurie; a life member of Old Mission Lodge No. 153, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; Scottish Rite Bodies, Kansas City, Kan.; and Abdallah Shrine, Shawnee Mission, where he was a member of the Clown Unit. He also was a member of the 5-0 Crime Watch, Laurie.
Other survivors include: two sons, Michael A. Copeland, Lake Tapawingo, and Kendall M. Copeland, Prairie Village, Kan.; one brother, one sister, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The remains will be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Memorial Fund, West Lake Christian Church, Laurie; the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital, St. Louis; or the Alzheimer's Association, Columbia.
HEFFELFINGER
Alvin S. Heffelfinger, 87, California, died Jan. 2, 2000, at Moniteau Care Center, California.
He was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Catasauqua, Pa., a son of Thomas F. and Sally Idella Scheckler Heffelfinger. He was married April 6, 1940, in Catasauqua, to Dorothy Luhman, who died July 3, 1999.
He was an accountant for Fuller Co., Catasauqua.
Survivors include: two sons, Thomas J. Heffelfinger, California, and Donald M. Heffelfinger, Newark, Del.; and two grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.
HOLLIDAY
Leslie J. "Hack" Holliday, 77, Holts Summit, died Jan. 2, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Jefferson City, a son of Jack and Alpha Ousley Holliday. He was married August 1947 to Belvie Helton Nichols, who died July 27, 1976. He was married Oct. 15, 1977, to Jessie Zimmerman Brown, who survives at the home.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 257 for more than 40 years. He was employed with the Missouri Department of Conservation for 10 years prior to his retirement on Nov. 30, 1984. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church for 70 years.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Judy Holliday, Holts Summit; three step-sons, Robert Nichols, Holts Summit, Gary Brown, Ogden, Utah, and Ken Brown, Ballwin; one step-daughter, LaVina Eickoff, Sullivan; three sisters, Frances Kitchens, and Betty Knatcal, both of Jefferson City, and Margaret Blackowski, Milwaukee, Wis.; one grandchild; 11 step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one step-son, Norman Nichols.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Major Elmer Trapp will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.
