Ione Everett
Ione Singleton Everett, age 95, formerly of Joplin, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 in Kansas City.
Mrs. Everett was born Aug. 17, 1907 in Morgan City. La., to the late William Singleton and Julia Blakeman Singleton and had lived in Joplin for over 25 years before moving to Kansas City in 1997. She graduated from Port Arthur (Texas) High School and completed L.P.N. training. Ione and her husband, Ben Sr. moved to El Paso, Texas to raise their three children. She worked at Thomason General Hospital in El Paso, Texas and in hospitals and nursing homes in Texas, retiring in 1970. She was an active member of the Joplin Senior Citizens Center and Bethel Assembly of God.
Ione was the family matriarch and a spiritual rock for her entire family. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ben Hendon and Ted Everett; and her son, Ben Hendon Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Williams, Dogwood City, Texas, Wilma Springer, Lakewood, Colo.; one sister, Nellie Bickle, Alamogordo, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Orville Garrison will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas A. Williams Sr., Thomas A. Williams Jr., Jim Norris, Hank Cosby, Mike Gamblin and Ben Hendon Jr. Honorary pallbear will be Fred Stockam.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Hospice Group, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Lora E. Lansaw
Lora E. Lansaw, age 95, Joplin, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003 at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Lansaw was born Dec. 20, 1907 in Ridgeley, Mo. to the late Bert Elmer Bunch and Nellie Powell Bunch and had lived in the area most of her life. A homemaker, she worked several years in home health care in San Jose, Calif. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Heartland Doll Club, Joplin. She was a member of the First Assembly of God.
She married Worthy Faye Lansaw on July 10, 1924 in Neosho, Mo. He passed away Dec. 21, 1966.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Lansaw, Quapaw, Okla., Lewarren Lansaw and John William Lansaw, both of Joplin; four daughters, Lora Metcalf, Joplin, Joyce Elaine Robinson, Wyandotte, Okla. Sherra Yvonne Cognetti and Janice Marie Lansaw, Both of Sonora, Calif.; one brother, John Bunch, Temple, Texas; three sisters, Mildred Webber, Lowell, Kan., Mable Hughes, Denver, Colo., Ella Mae Neville, Loveland, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Lora was preceded in death by two sons; three daughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God, 1508 Virginia. Rev. Wallace Joice and Rev. Lucky Webber will officiate. Interment will follow at Fariview cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Lee Metcalf, Jerry Wayne Metcalf, Larry Gene Metcalf, Dennis Points, Eddie Webber and Ronnie Metcalf. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God or the St. John’s Hospice.

Edna Kelley
Edna J. Kelley, age 83, Mount Vernon, Mo., formerly of Joplin, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Lawrence County Manor, after a long illness.
Mrs. Kelley was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Goodman, Mo., to the late Willard Marble and Ora McFadden Marble, and had lived in Joplin since 194. A homemaker, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Joplin.
She married Edwin Kelley in 1937. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1988. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Kelley, Joplin, Pat Kelley, Gautier, Miss., and Mike 'Danny' Kelley, Pierce City, Mo.; one sister, Mildred Stratton, Joplin; eight grandchildren, Kristen Fearnow, Liberal, Mo., Shannon Moller, Purdy, Mo., Tara Winegar, Neosho, Mo., Austin Kelley, Monett, Mo., Kevin Kelley and Jeff Kelley, both of Gautier, Miss.; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at Parker Mortuary Chapel Rev. Lee Neil will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park cemetery. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary Chapel.

Dr. Raymond A. Carlson
Raymond A. Carlson D.O., age 90, of Joplin, formerly of Golden City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at Freeman East Hospital.
Dr. Carlson was born June 27, 1913 in Clay Center, Kan., son of the late Andrew Victor Carlson and Mina Sutherland Carlson. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1931 and then attended the Kansas City College of Osteopathy from which he received his degree in 1935.
Dr. Carlson’s first 29 years of practice were in Golden City, Mo., a community he dearly loved. He moved to Joplin, Mo. in 1965 where he continued his practice until his retirement in 1977.
Dr. Carlson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joplin; was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite; was a member of the American Osteopathic Association; and was a charter member of Briarbrook Country Club of Joplin where he spent many days playing golf with his fiends and family.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Carlson was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Warren; and a sister, Irene.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helen Mae Wolfe Carlson whom he married on April 17, 1938; two sons, Stephen Ray Carlson, D.D.S. and his wife, Barbara of Mission Hills, Kan. Richard Brent Carlson and his wife, Sherri of Plano, Texas; sister, Margaret Read of Burbank, Calif.; five grandchildren, Courtney, Katie, Brent, Drew and Stephanie; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003. at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Joplin officiated by Rev. Russell Standlee. Interment will follow in Mount Hope cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Stephen Carlson, Rick Fleenor, Paul Brown, Walt Hulen, Bill Wright, Paul Shipman, Stanley Parker, Pat Pattison. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Compton, Dr. Eugene Langevin, Fred King, Pat Hale, Kenny Probert, Paul Thompson, Dr. I.E. Kilbane.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine or the First United Methodist Church of Joplin in care of Park Mortuary.

Charles Terrill
Charles K. Terrill, age 84, Joplin, passed away at 8:47 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at Freeman West Hospital.
Mr. Terrill was born Feb. 10, 1919 in Grand Junction, Colo. to the late Elmer Terrill and Minnie Lawson Terrill and had lived in Joplin since 1960. He worked as a meat cutter and was a member of the local meat cutters union. He was a member of Villa Heights Christian Church; was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations; and sailed on a merchant marine shop.
He married Anna Lou Zwahlen on Oct. 30, 1946 in Winnemacca, Nev. She survived at the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Ann Ragan and her husband, Shelby, Olathe, Kan., Carolyn Sue Spiva and her husband, Ray, Neosho; five grandchildren, Wendy Poplin, Charles K. Ragan, Lance Burton, Kaycee Ragan, Melinda Burton; and four great-grandchildren, Shelbi Ragan, Katie Poplin, Kohlsen Burton and Kolten Ragan.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Sherm Nichols, minister, will officiate. Interment will follow at McKey cemetery, Hollowell, Kan. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Parker Chapel. Pallbearers will be Shelby Ragan, Ray Spiva, Charles K. Ragan, Lance Burton, Walter Poplin and Neil Hale.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veteran’s in care of Parker Mortuary.

Edward O. Kuklentz
Edward O. Kuklentz, age 76, of Joplin, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at a local hospital, following a long illness.
Mr. Kuklentz was born on Jan. 28, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Edward and Lali Kuklentz. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Army Air Corps. He was an engineer and plant manager at the Puritan Bennett Plant in Crestline, Kan., and also at the nitrous oxide plant in Donora, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Kuklentz.
Mr. Kuklentz is survived by his two daughters, Cherie Kuklentz, of Neosho, and Duanne Reynolds, of Joplin; along with other family members.
There will be a private burial at Mount Hope cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at St. John’s Regional Medical Center for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the St. John’s Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.

Wayne G. Mitchell
Wayne G. Mitchell, 74, of Southwest City, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 10:05 a.m., at his home, after an illness.
Wayne G. Mitchell was born on Jan. 5, 1929 in Parsons, Kan., to the late Charles Edmond and Orlena June (King) Mitchell. He has lived in Southwest City, Mo. since July of 1989, coming from Olathe, Kan. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Kansas, after 36 years, in 1985. He was a past member and officer of the Olathe and Salina, Kan. Lion's Clubs, Order of DeMolay at Parsons, Kan.; Nation Chief of the YMCA Indian Guides at Salina, Kan., and served in various capacities with the Boy Scouts of America Troops at Salina, Topeka and Olathe, Kan. He was a volunteer for Our Daily Bread Food Pantry for Noel and Southwest City. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Mo.
He married Donna Coverdale on Aug. 20, 1955 in Wichita, Kan. She preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 1994. He married Audrey Larkin Drake on July 4, 1996. She survives, of the home in Southwest City, Mo.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Karen Wallgren and husband, Joe; two sons, Michael Mitchell and Scott Mitchell, all of Southwest City, Mo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Mitchell, of South Hampton, N.J.; four stepchildren, Roy E. Drake Jr. and wife, Kay, of Siloam Springs, Ark., Max E. Drake and wife, Connie, of Joplin, Richard Drake and wife, Susan, of Pratt, Kan., and Carolyn Bennett and husband, J.R., of Noel, Mo.
Funeral services for Wayne G. Mitchell will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Mo. The Rev. David Howlett will officiate. Burial will be in the Southwest City cemetery in Southwest City, Mo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, from 12 noon until 7 p.m., at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, Mo. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jared Drake, Chris Bennett, Allen Drake, Cortney Drake, Robert Drake and Rick Drake. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hallum, Bob Nichols, Hickson Nyander and Forest Nuckolls.
Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Mo. in care of the funeral home.

Scott Hardy
Scott Allen Hardy, age 31, Joplin, passed away at 9:08 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004.
Scott was born May 20, 1972 in Joplin to James D. Hardy and Nancy M. Wright Hardy and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life. He was employed by Hardy and Associates CPA’s P.C. of Joplin and Brook Insurance of Carthage. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Carthage.
In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by his children, Scott James Hardy and Rachel Renee Hardy; two sisters, Paula Diane Wolf and husband, Blake, Lisa Dawn Campbell and husband, Mike; two brothers, James Michael Hardy and Kevin Thomas Hardy; paternal grandmother, Delores Hardy; niece, Whitney Wicks; nephews, Sam Wolf, Waylon Campbell, Joe Wolf; and aunts and uncles, Douglas and Barbara Hardy, Larry and Angie Wright, Craig and Terry Judge and Steven Wright.
Scott was a devoted father who loved and cherished his children very much. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fr. Justin Monaghan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald Charities of the Four States.

Eleanor J. Elsey
JOPLIN, Mo. — Eleanor J. Elsey, 75, passed away on Feb. 2, 2004 at 12:30 a.m. in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Ms. Elsey was born on June 17, 1928 in Carthage. Missouri Gas Energy employed her for 43 years. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for over 50 years, she belonged to Beta Sigma Phi, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 25 years and a member of the Webb City Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Her parents, one brother and two sisters preceded Ms. Elsey in death.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Lee of Springfield; aunt, Alberta Castor of Joplin; six nieces and nephews; beloved friend, Michelle Wigent who provided many years of service for her and several other friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Family and friends may call on Tuesday after 12 noon and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Mount Hope cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Joplin Humane Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.

Cheryl L. Huddleston
Cheryl L. (Barnett) Huddleston, 53, of Joplin, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at a Joplin hospital. She had been in failing health.
She was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Wichita, Kan., to Vernon L. and the late Lorene Faye (Murphy) Barnett. She graduated from Labette County High School in 1968 and from Pittsburg State University with a master’s degree in special education. She taught special education for 25 years at Carl Junction Primary School. After retiring, she worked for Aegis Telecommunications. She enjoyed arts and crafts.
Survivors include one son, Matthew R. Huddleston, Altamont, Kan.; her father, Vernon L. Barnett, Altamont; one brother, Michael A. Barnett and his wife, Debbie, of Parsons, Kan.; two nieces, Angela and Meghan; and one nephew, Joshua Barnett.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her mother, Lorene F. Barnett. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Bath Funeral Home of Altamont with Rev. Greg Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Creek cemetery of Bartlett. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bath Funeral Home, where family will receive friends from 7 to 8 that evening.

Robert A. "Bob" Staton
Robert A. "Bob" Staton, 90, of Chillicothe, Mo., died on Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Indian Hills Retirement Village, Chillicothe, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Mo.

Eleanor Sarabella Baker, 88, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Indian Hills Nursing Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Lock Springs cemetery, Lock Springs, Mo.

Charles "Sam" Harlan
Charles "Sam" Harlan, 80, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
