Mason Talbutt
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mason “Red” Talbutt, 80, formerly of Joplin, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. He retired from ADT.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenfield cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 Friday at the funeral home.

Charles “Chuck” Aiken
Charles O. “Chuck” Aiken Jr., age 67 of Joplin, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Freeman Hospital West Emergency Room after a sudden illness.
Mr. Aiken was born June 24, 1935 in Joplin, the son of the late Charles O. “Sam” Aiken Sr. and Elda Block Aiken and was a lifetime Joplin resident. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in 1957 and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood and Fort Sam Houston. He served a two-year active duty term and continued in the U.S. Army Reserve, receiving his honorable discharge in 1963. A 47-year employee of Larry Hickey Distributing Co., he was general manager since 1976 and was secretary of the Corporation. He was a member of First Community Church and served as a former board member. He was passionate about and dedicated to Joplin Little League. He volunteered many years to advance that cause, serving as president of the American League, Joplin Little League and later was district adminstator. He was a member and former board member of the Joplin Humane Society and was a member of the Beer Wholesalers Association, Missouri Restaurant Association, Joplin Rotary Club, St. John’s 100 Club and Joplin Elk’s Lodge No. 501. He liked to fish and loved to quail and pheasant hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maxine (Woods) Aiken; two sons, Charles Aiken III and Scott Aiken, both of Joplin; three grandchildren, Scott, Geoffrey and Madison Aiken; two sisters, Mary Carlene Arnold and Janice Tusinger, both of Joplin; nine nephews; 16 nieces; many great-nephews and great-nieces; and numerous extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 at First Community Church with Dr. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Community Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Stephen Lee Hopper died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010
Stephen Lee Hopper was born August 13, 1934 west of Laclede in his grandparents home. He was the first son of Otha J. Hopper and Hazel Wilson Hopper. He attended school in Springfield, MO for three years and moved back to Laclede for four years, in 1945 the family moved to the Hopper home place at Sturges, Missouri with his father and stepmother. Steve graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1951 at the age of 16.
While in grade school and high school he was involved in 4-H and FFA, Methodist Youth Fellowship serving as President of Elm Street MYF and the Chillicothe-Richmond MYF
He enrolled in the University of Missouri in the fall of 1951. At the end of his second year Steve signed up for the Draft, and began training with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley Kansas in July 1953.Upon graduating from some special training, he volunteered for Korean service. He was assigned to Far East Air Force and the 841st E A Bn K-* Air base Kunsan Korea in January 1954. Here he helped build new runways and served as a communications specialist. In January 1955 Steve volunteered for the A-Bomb tests in Nevada. At less than two miles from ground zero, he endured a 40 kt blast, twice the size of Hiroshima. As a regimental wire team leader for communications he had all communications restored within two hours. In June 1955 he went home to enroll back in the University of Missouri for the fall semester.
In February 1956, Steve Hopper and Fay Wade were united in marriage at the Woodlandville Methodist Church in Boone County. Fay worked 40 hours per week; Steve worked 20-60 hours per week and carried 17 hours of college credit per semester. They moved to the Stephen Peter Hopper home place in September of 1957 where Steve entered into a work relationship with his grandfather Jess S. Hopper. They lived and worked there for three years until they entered into a new relationship with Jess S. Hopper working his way into Hopper Farms. They were the parents of five children, Stephen Mikel, born in 1958, Suzanne Fay born 1960, Mark Alan born 1961, Molly Ann born 1962 and Matthew Wade born 1966.
Steve like his father , grandfather and great grandfather was involved in community service all his life. He served as Livingston County Farm Bureau president and other offices, served as a member of the MFA
Ag Committee. He served as secretary of Chula Farmers Co-op for many years. He helped set up the Chillicothe Young Farmer group and served as their president, helped start the Farm Management group at GTRS. He spent 14 years as president of the Public Water District #2 of Livingston County. He served as a 4-H leader for 35 years and was Sunday school teacher most of his adult life. He was elected as a Soil and Water District Supervisor from Livingston County in 1983 and in 1985 he was elected area supervisor and a member of the Missouri State Association of SWCDS. He became representative of the MWNACD and a member of the National Board of NACD in 1988 and a member of the Executive Board in 1990. In there positions he met many people and made many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother David and his wife Fay preceded him in death in December 1995.
He is survived by sons, Mike Hopper and wife Penny, Mark Hopper and wife Joan, Matt Hopper and wife Sue, two daughters, Suzi Beck and husband David, Molly Comstock and husband Marty. Fifteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Ted (Ermilou) Bryan, Mrs. Charles (Mary Lynn) Owen and Mrs. Jim (Jeanne) Wilson.
Memorials in honor of Stephen Hopper may be made to Livingston County 4-H & FFA Fairground Wash Rack Project or the Livingston County 4-H Foundation and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on December 3, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Edgewood cemetery, Chillicothe, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.

Connie May Ellis
Connie May Ellis of Joplin, Mo., was born on Nov. 27, 1919 in Dutton, Ark., to Harrison and Bessie Vanover. She joined our Heavenly Father on April 5, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Connie worked for many years in nutrition services for the former Oak Hill Hospital, Joplin House Healthcare and Regency Health Care. After her retirement in food service, she was employed by U.S. Bank as a caretaker for many individuals. She enjoyed helping and serving others, retiring at the age of 81 due to illness. Connie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of the Bahá’í Faith and served faithfully as secretary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth; a son, Roger Ellis; and a grandson, Bryan Kilgore.
Connie is survived by her son, Dr. William Kilgore and his wife, Jeanne of Window Rock, Ariz.; her two daughters, Carolyn Blevins and husband, Johnny, of Pineville, Mo., and Dolores Foster and husband, Bobby, of Joplin. Connie is one of 14 brothers and sisters with one surviving sister, Linda Tate and husband, Malcolm, of Oark, Ark. She is also survived by a stepbrother, Charley Reed and his wife, Alice; three stepsisters, Viada Kimbrill and husband, Doy, Maxine McIlroy and Arlene Griffith and husband, James, all of Arkansas. She is blessed with ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at Ozark Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Park Mortuary.

Donald Ingraham, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010
Donald Ingraham, an 85-year-old Trenton, Mo., resident, died at 11:55 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. He had resided at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Cameron since August.
Leroy Donald Ingraham was born Oct. 23, 1925, at Humphreys, Mo., to Ellsworth and Ora Briddle Ingraham.
He was married to Mary Lou Todd on May 4, 1945. She preceded him in death Oct. 5, 2005. They farmed in the Humphreys and Laredo communities until moving north of Trenton in 1973. Mr. Ingraham operated a trucking business and then a used farm machinery business, until moving into Trenton in 2000. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member to the Joseph L. Norton, V.F.W Post 919, Major Dale Stepp Post #31 American Legion and D.A.V. chapters in Trenton.
Mr. Ingraham was a longtime member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church and also attended the Spickard Christian Church.
Surviving relatives include his sons James Robert of Trenton and John Charles and his wife Cheryl of Lathrop, Mo.; three grandchildren Jason Shawn Ingraham and wife, Jennifer, of Kansas City, Mo.; Jeremy Todd Ingraham and wife Nissa of Burlington Junction, Mo.; and Jenna Marie Ingraham of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., four great-grandchildren including Lauren Kathryn, Evan Charles, Duke Ryan and Wyatt Dane, three brothers; William J. Ingraham of Trenton, Leon Ingraham of Kinsman, Ill., and Kenneth Ingraham of Branson, Mo., a sister Maxine Johnson of Alexandria, Va.
Those preceding him in death include his wife, parents, three brothers: Leo, Victor, and a infant J.W., as well as a sister Corrine Smith.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, with Bro. Duane Campbell officiating.
Pallbearers were Jason Ingraham, Jeremy Ingraham, Larry May, Stan Ingraham, Victor Gender and Vernon Buckner.
Military services were conducted by Joseph L. Norton, V.F.W. Post 919, of Trenton.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion cemetery south of Humphreys. Open visitation was at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be left for either the Mt. Zion cemetery Association or the Missouri Veterans’ Home Assistance League and left at the funeral home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Raymond F. Jones
Raymond F. “Barney” Jones, 94, of Joplin, died at 12:08 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Barney was born April 11, 1908 in Webb City, Mo., to Frank C. and Minnie Lee (Schier) Jones. He was a lifetime area resident. he was employed by Hornaday’s Men’s Store at 7th and Main, Joplin from 1930 until the store ceased operation in 1966. He began a new career with Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in April of 1966 as an assistant funeral director. He gave special meaning to the word care when serving those who called on him. He retired in December 1982.
He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, the Joplin Elks Lodge No. 501, a member and past president of the Joplin Kiwanis Club, the Roughnecks and a member of the Joplin Historical Society. He was a former board member of the American Red Cross, and the United Fund board where he had served as a vice president.
He married Elizabeth Kingsbury on Oct. 4, 1947 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She died Aug. 10, 1993. He is survived by his nephew, Henry Kingsbury and his wife, Linda of Palm Harbor, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. Rev. Frank Swindle will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Metz and Earl Patchin. Pallbearers will be James Gray, Alex Curchin, Rex Hunt Jr., Jim Paul, David S. Dillon and David E. Dillon Jr.
Contributions may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.

Mae A. Matthews
SMITHVILLE, Mo. — Mae Annette Matthews, 85, a homemaker, passed away Friday, April 4, 2003.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hosey Hill cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir, Kan.

Irene V. McIver
NEOSHO, Mo. — Irene V. McIver, 95, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in the Roller cemetery, Gateway, Ark. Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Harold W. Scott
MONETT, Mo. — Harold W. Scott, 74, a refrigeration engineer, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monett. Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.

Levida Easley
Levida Jean Hemphill Easley, age 90, of Joplin, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2003, at a local health care center.
Born July 26, 1912 in Oconto, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Edgar C. Hemphill and Elvira Alida Fonda Hemphill. She moved to Joplin in the mid-1930's and lived her until 1953, when the family moved to Arlington, Texas. In 1975 they moved to her home town of Billings, Mo. She returned to live in Joplin in November of 2000. She retired as a waitress and cashier for the former Keystone Hotel Restaurant at Fourth and Main in Joplin. She was a homemaker after her marriage. She was a member of Shady Valley Golf Club in Arlington, Texas and Hidden Valley Golf Club in Clever, Mo.
On Dec. 14, 1940, she married Barton W. Easley at Columbus, Kan. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1987.
Survivors include her niece, Donna Jean Stefka, of Fort Scott, Kan.; two nephews, Earl Eugene Hemphill, of Carl Junction, Mo., and Alvin Easley Adkins, of Joplin; six great-nephews, Wade D. Stefka, of Fort Scott, David J. Stefka, of Linn, Mo., John Hemphill, of Webb City, Mo., Rick Hemphill, of Nevada, Mo., Michael Adkins, of San Bernardino, Calif., and James A. Adkins, of Atlanta, Ga.; and two great-nieces, Geraldine A. Locke, of Rockwood, Tenn., and Laura A. Adkins, of Granview, Tenn.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Forest Park cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Ian Grayson Kirchner
Ian Grayson Kirchner, age 27, of Joplin, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003. Ian was born March 6, 1976 Petersburg, Va. He moved to Joplin in 1981. He attended elementary school in Joplin and attended high school in Hollister, Mo. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was employed as a chef with Cafe Del Rio in Joplin.
Survivors include his parents, Skip and Gayle Kirchner, of Joplin and Branson, Mo.; one sister, Whitney Schmale and her husband, David, and nephew, Kyle, Overland Park, Kan.; paternal grandparents, Fred and Juanita Richey, Teague, Texas; maternal grandmother, Audrey Chenoweth, St. Louis, Mo.; maternal grandparents, George and Rosellen Chenoweth, St. Petersburg, Fla.; uncles, aunts and cousins. Ian is also survived by Whitney and Carson Nixon, of the home.
Ian will be cremated. Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel, with Pastor Michael Leidecker officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Boy Scouts of America, 501 East 15th Street, Joplin, Mo. 64804.

Georgia Buchanan
Georgia Lee Buchanan, age 87, Joplin, passed away on May 31, 2003. She was born in Rye Cove, Va. on Jan. 27, 1916. She completed her nursing training through the University of Virginia at George Van Johnson Hospital in Abington, Va. She married Carl E. Buchanan on Feb. 4, 1939, and moved to Joplin. She worked as a registered nurse at Freeman Hospital and St. John's Hospital. She ended her career as a school nurse at Parkwood and Memorial High Schools in Joplin. She retired in 1976.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Joplin, where she previously served on the Church Board and worked with the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Joplin Business and Professional Women's Club and was honored by them as Woman of the Year in 1974.
She is survived by a son, Charles E. Buchanan and his wife, Sherry, of Joplin; a granddaughter, Brooke Lemley and her husband, Evan, and their son, Benjamin Christopher Lemley, of Oklahoma City; and a grandson, Andrew S. Buchanan and his fiancee, Kimberly Ulrich, of St. Louis. She also leaves her sister-in-law and beloved friend, Marian Marison, of Lenexa, Kan.; and a niece, Marie Highfiel, of Webber City, Va., whom she considered as her sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Buchanan, who died on Aug. 4, 1988, and by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday, June 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at Parker Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, June 4, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Joplin.
