Hazel Janiese Chambers
Hazel Janiese Chambers, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Carroll House.
Janiese was born February 13, 1928 in Bosworth, Missouri, the daughter of Lester Clyde and Ollie Mae (Kuhn) Chambers.
Janiese graduated from Bosworth High School. She had been employed in housekeeping at Carroll County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church.
Janiese is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Her parents and two sisters, Neva Smalley and Nedra Sutherland, preceded her in death.
The body will lie in state at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 2-5:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until the graveside service time at 1:00 p.m. at Wharton cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Humane Society in memory of Janiese. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Robert W. Berrey, IV
Robert W. Berrey, IV, age 59, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at his home.
Bob was born November 30, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Robert W., III and Katharine (Wilcoxson) Berrey. He graduated from High Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia. He earned his bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College. He attended Lubbock Christian College and Central Missouri State University. Bob had farmed most of his life and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carrollton. He was also a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Carrollton Kiwanis, and had served on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Valley Community Action Agency.
Bob is survived by two daughters, Katie Elizabeth Berrey and Kara Lea Berrey, both of the home; one sister, Mary Jane Phillips and husband, Fred Phillips, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; one brother, John Lind Berrey, Liberty, Missouri.
His parents and wife, Teresa Gossage, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Carrollton, with funeral services following at 2:00. Reverend M. R. Hamilton and Reverend Wayne Hammar will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Carrollton Kiwanis Club in memory of Bob. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Alberta McKemy
Alberta Louise McKemy, 88, a Raytown, MO, resident since 1959, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012. Visitation will be held 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church, Raytown, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. at Richmond Memorial Gardens, Richmond, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Alberta was born March 4, 1924 in Hardin, MO, to Ernest and Fern (Deck) Young. On July 15, 1944, she married Robert B McKemy Jr. in Hardin, MO. She graduated from Hardin HS and Chillicothe Business School. Alberta was a devoted member of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church where she was involved with the United Methodist Women and Ruth Circle. She was a former member of the South Prospect United Methodist Church. She was proud of her involvement and leadership with Chapter IY of PEO and the Marguerite McNair Chapter of DAR. Alberta enjoyed playing cards with Ladies without Nobles, WAC, Kings & Queens and Connecting Hands. She frequently attended Golden Key & the Shepherd's Center. For many years she was a Supervisory Judge for the Jackson County Election Board. Alberta is preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert. Survivors include daughter & son-in- law, Joyce and Steven Crabtree, Lake Ozark, MO; son & daughter in law, Steven & Karen McKemy, Blue Springs, MO; daughter Elaine Heckenkamp, Liberty, MO; sister-in-law, Emma Jo Windsor, St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Hilarie Hughes (Joshua), Sara McKemy, Kristin Smithson (Andrew), Robert Heckenkamp (Chelsea) and Emily Heckenkamp; step grandchildren, Joseph Heckenkamp (Susan) and Jennifer Roney (Brent); great granddaughter, Ashton and step great granddaughters, Riley, Josie, Abby and Sophie. Alberta loved her family, friends, church, organizations, traveling, scrapbooking and flower gardens. She will be greatly missed and her kind spirit will always remain with us. (arr. Robert Moore
Robert Dale Moore, born 12/3/27 to Eddie & Margaret Moore in Kansas City, MO. He was the second oldest of 5 boys. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles, Dan and Marvin. He is survived his wife Millie English Moore, who he married in 1958, 2 children, Robert II and wife Lara, of Byron, Georgia and Julia McIntire, of Independence, MO, and brother, Myrl Moore and wife Bobbie of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Bob graduated from High school in 1945 and joined the Navy in 1946. He served on the USS Tarawa Aircraft Carrier as a Radar Man. He then attended Baker University and graduated with a degree in Business. In 1953 Bob went to work for Greenlease Cadillac Co. and later Major Cadillac. He sold Cadillac’s for 41 years.. A memorial service will be held 10am Friday August 3rd at Missouri Funeral Care 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown. William F. Casey
William F. Casey, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
Bill was born February 21, 1933 in Corydon, Iowa, the son of Lewis William and Josephine Marie (Allison) Casey. He attended Corydon High School. Bill was a machinist at Lake City Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1996. He attended the Baptist Church in Norborne, Missouri.
Bill is survived by eight children, Melodie Gilson and husband, Ronnie, Corydon, Iowa; Billie Mathes, Seymour, Iowa; Lewis Casey, Unionville, Missouri; Marian Versaw and husband, Mike, Lincoln, Nebraska; David Casey and wife, Robin, Blair, Nebraska; Janet Little, Osceola, Iowa; James Casey, Corydon, Iowa; Timothy Casey, Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister, Linda New, Alberton, Iowa; twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
His parents, five grandchildren, Ken Mathes, Jr., Candice Casey, Luzetta Josephine Casey, James Bradley Casey and Anthony Noel Casey, preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Corydon, Iowa.

Phillip Chandler
Phillip B. "Arkie" Chandler, Sr., 84, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Aug. 20, 2012. He was born in Fayetteville, AR, on Jan. 4, 1928, and married Norma Jane Chandler on Sept. 10, 1950. Phil was a veteran of the US Navy and loved spending time with his cows at his farm in Tiffin, MO. He also loved hunting and fishing, especially his annual fishing trip at Bull Shoals. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Earl Meyers, and wife, Norma Chandler. He leaves behind: daughter, Karen and spouse Al Spungen; son P. Bruce, Jr.; son, Lane; daughter, Stacey and spouse John Williams; daughter Brenda and spouse Timothy Rhodes; son, Luke and spouse Tina; sister Carol; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Phil will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A visitation will be held 10- 11 a.m., Thurs., Aug. 23, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Fri., Aug. 24, at El Dorado Springs City cemetery, El Dorado Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Action www.canceractionkc.org.

Alice Gregory
Minnie Alice Gregory, age 97, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Life Care Center of Carrollton.
Alice was born January 9, 1916 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Lilbert and May (Thomas) Murphy.
On May 2, 1952 she married Robert Gregory. He preceded her in death in November of 1996.
Alice was a member of the Wakenda Baptist Church and a member of the Elder Bloom Extension Club.
Alice is survived by one nephew, Dale Lageman, Waverly, Missouri; one niece, Thelma Mangels, Bettendorf, Iowa; four great nephews, two great nieces, five great great nephews, two great great nieces, one great great great nephew and several cousins.
Her parents, one sister, Mabel Lageman of Waverly, and one niece Wilda Edgerton, Sun City, Arizona, also preceded her in death.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Richard Tope
Richard Morris Tope, 89, Raytown, MO passed away March 4, 2013. Visitation will be held 10-11AM, Friday, March 8, 2013 at Missouri Funeral Care, Raytown, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11AM. Graveside services will be held 2:30 PM at Englewood cemetery, Clinton, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Raytown or VFW #4242. Richard was born May, 1, 1923 in Coal, MO. He was a World War II, Navy Veteran who served with the SEABEES. Richard worked for Benson MFG Co and retired from Tempmaster in 1987. He is a member of First Baptist Church and VFW #4242. He will be remembered for his love of bowling, camping & cars. Richard is preceded in death by: daughter, Marcia Tope; son, Daniel Tope; one brother & two sisters. Survivors include: wife of 65 years, Delora "Jane" Tope, of the home; sons & daughters in law, Rondal & Susan Tope, San Antonio, TX, David & Wanda Tope, Independence, MO; sister, Pauline Houk, KC North, MO; brother, Robert Tope, KC, MO; four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Margery Jones
Margery Jean Jones of Homestead of Leawood passed away March 5, 2013. Margery was born January 4, 1926 in Kansas City, KS and was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Junior Jones, who was City Assessor for Kansas City, MO; and her parents, Guy and Irene Mock of Raytown, MO. Margery is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Jones of Lexington, MO; her brother, Larry Mock and wife Nancy; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Margery graduated from Raytown High School in 1944 and attended Union College in Lincoln, NE with her husband Edward Jones. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO with a visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Floral Hills cemetery, Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Kansas City Central Church, 14651 Peterson Rd. Lee’s Summit, MO 64149.

Gary Lynn Mann
Gary Lynn Mann, age 68, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
Gary was born August 23, 1944 at Miami Station, Missouri, the son of Oscar and Mary (Manning) Mann. He attended schools at DeWitt, Miami Station, Brunswick and Carrollton. Gary was in the United States Navy. He was a retired construction worker and had been a member of the laborers local union in Kansas City, Missouri.
Gary is survived by three children, Stephani Mann, Lawson, Missouri; Shannon Mann, Kearney, Missouri; Erik Mann, State of Wyoming; Diana (Donna) Burton, Carrollton, Missouri; one brother, Charley Mann and wife, Connie, Carrollton, Missouri; two sisters, Connie Olvera and husband, Jerry, Peculiar, Missouri; Kathy Hatfield and husband, John, Eugene, Missouri; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, three siblings in infancy, and brothers, Roger and Bill Mann, preceded him in death.
Visitation was held from 12-1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. Burial was in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family’s choice in memory of Gary. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Sylvia Whitt
Sylvia Maurine Whitt, nee Turley, was born on September 25, 1920 and departed from this life March 7, 2013. She was converted to Christ in October 1936. Her parents were Alf and Nora Turley of Melbourne, MO. They were the parents of 7 children: Hetti, Clyde, Ruby, Sarah, Alphaus, Sylvia, and Robert Homer, all deceased. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Whitt and a granddaughter Mindi Whitt Bowen. She married Earl on July 10, 1939 and lived in Kansas City, MO. They were the parents of three children: Judith Jewell, Sandra Knight (Bill) and Marshall Whitt (Neila), 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. They were all brought up in the church and taught God's Word. After she and Earl retired they moved to Gilman City, MO. After 20 years they moved back to Lee's Summit to be near the children. A visitation will be held from 10-10:30 AM, Monday March 11, 2013 with Funeral services to follow at Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be directed to Gentiva Hospice, 4911 S. Arrowhead Drive, Ste. 310, Independence, MO 64055.

Bettie Lucille Lasley
Bettie Lucille Lasley, Carrollton, Missouri, passed away April 6, 2013 at Life Care Center, of Carrollton. She was born May 4, 1925 in Victor, Missouri. She was the daughter of Thomas and Ivy Lucille Bowling Hatten. She attended schools in St. Louis, University Missouri Columbia, and State Fair College in Sedalia, Missouri. She was an LPN and an RN. She worked at University of Missouri Hospital, Bales Hospital, Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Home Health Care, Life Care Center, and Carroll House. She taught CNA classes and tested LPNs. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church where she has served on the Board of the Church and was a Board member of the Guardian Angel Day Care, and was Parish Nurse of the Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Homemakers Extension Club. She was first married to Clifton Lloyd Painter in 1942. She was later married to A. L. Lasley in 1965. Both preceded her in death. She is survived by seven children: Ronnie Painter, of Moberly, Missouri; Diana Walker, Phoenix, Arizona; Sandi Musbach, St. Louis, Missouri; Roger Painter, Bosworth, Missouri; William Painter, Malta Bend, Missouri; Thomas Painter, Bosworth, Missouri; Ginger Mistler, Carrollton, Missouri; twenty grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren. Visitation was held at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Anselm Williams officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Guardian Angel Day Care in memory of Bettie. Robert Wing
Robert Elden “Bob” Wing, 82, Kansas City, MO, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at home. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, MO with burial in Oak Hill cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Wing was born Sunday, March 1, 1931, in Beardstown, IL, son of Charles Edgar and Ruth Henderson Wing. He lived in Carrollton, MO before moving to Kansas City in 1951.
Bob and Shirley Marie Slater were married August 16, 1952 in Carrollton, MO. He served in the Army and was employed at Fairbanks-Morse, Kansas City, KS for 23 years before retiring in 1978.
He leaves his wife Shirley of the home; daughters Karla and Robert Ragland and Kathy and Jerry Hendricks, both of Independence, MO; brothers Charles Wing and Richard Wing; sisters Ann Doss and Ruth Ellen Worth; grandchildren Jamie, Justin, Lindsey, Kara, Melinda and Clint; step-grandchildren Amy, Jeff and Matt; two great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father (1976); mother (1980); sisters Shirley Mayer (2012) Jacquelyn Lee Wing (1930) and stepfather William Crouch.

Raymond "Chester" Cumpton
Ray Cumpton, 82, Lone Jack, MO passed away April 11, 2013 at his home. Ray was born October 3, 1930 in Bates County, MO to Earl and Celia (Bryant) Cumpton. He is survived by his wife Patricia of the home, a daughter Beth Valentine, granddaughter Kayte Barone, grandson Brandon Cruz, son-in-law Ramiro Cruz, and sisters Bonnie Wilson and Ruth Campbell. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son David Allen and a daughter Cathy Cruz. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Lone Jack Baptist Church, 202 S. Bynum, Lone Jack, MO, 64070. A funeral service will follow the visitation, beginning at 11 AM, and will be officiated by Pastor Jerry Tharp. A graveside service will follow the funeral and be held at Lone Jack cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in Ray’s name to; The American Cancer Society, P.O. Marie Mertensmeyer
Marie A. Mertensmeyer, 100, of John Knox Village, Lee’s Summit, Missouri and formerly of Norborne, Missouri passed away April 12, 2013 at Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center.
Mrs. Mertensmeyer was born November 29, 1912 in Koeltztown, Missouri, the daughter of Catherine (Winkelmann) and Gottfried Melies.
At a young age she moved to Marshall, Missouri then to a farm north of Malta Bend, Missouri. She graduated from Mercy Academy in Marshall in 1930.
On May 26, 1936 she married Edwin H. Mertensmeyer. They lived on a farm near Glasgow, Missouri and in 1943 they moved to a farm near Norborne, Missouri.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of Moss Creek Homemakers and Town & Country Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, daughter Susan Hansen and granddaughter Rachel Hansen, great grandson Nathan Bouquet, son-in-law Ted Hoppe, brothers Alfred Melies, Joe Melies and Robert Melies, and sisters Agnes Weaver and Rose Boland.
She is survived by five daughters, Louise (William) Stedem of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Betty Childers of Camdenton, Missouri, Ann Hoppe of Merriam Kansas, Joan (Rick) Butler of Lexington, Missouri and Carol Mertensmeyer (Mark Ryan) of Columbia, Missouri; three sons, Edwin Eugene Mertensmeyer of Independence, Missouri, Dan (Suzanne) Mertensmeyer of Overland Park, Kansas, and John Mertensmeyer of Kansas City, Missouri, twenty-two grandchildren and 37great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne, Missouri. Visitation 10:00 a.m. Mass 11:00 a.m.
Burial in Sacred Heart cemetery, Norborne
Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
