Denise Hart

Denise Hart of Puxico, the daughter of Peggy Boshear and the late Edgar Boshear, was born in Oceanside, Calif. on April 11, 1963 and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff on Sept. 21, 2001 at the age of 38. Mrs. Hart was a resident of Puxico but had lived on various Military bases in the United States. She was a LPN for Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff and was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School in 1981, in Oak Harbor, Wash. On Oct. 24, 1981, she was united marriage to Brian Hart at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash., he survives of the home in Puxico. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Jack, Carl and Joshua Hart, all of Puxico; her mother, Peggy Boshear of Puxico; and two brothers, Hank Boshear of Seattle, Wash. and Robert Paul Reed of Las Vegas, Nev. Memorial funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. in the First General Baptist Church in Puxico with Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico is in charge of all arrangements.

Eleanor Best

Eleanor E. Best Eleanor Estelle Best of Cape Girardeau, the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Ada H. Peck Vining was born Feb. 11, 1918 at Utica, N.Y. and died Sept. 28, 2001 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, at the age of 85. Mrs. Best was affiliated with the Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and a resident of Cape Girardeau. On July 18, 1936 she was united in marriage to Jack Brownley Best at Milford Pike County, Pa. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1963. She is survived by one daughter, Diana Cargle of Dexter; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers, and two grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Anselm Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with Ford & Sons Funeral Home of Cape Girardeau in charge of all arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, Broadway & Caruthers Street, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63701.

Ola Hopkins

Ola Hopkins Ola M. Hopkins, daughter of the late George W. Vanpool and Belle Gramlin Hall Vanpool, was born on Oct. 16, 1908 at Paragould, Ark. and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Sept. 27, 2001, at the age of 92. Mrs. Hopkins was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, a former employee of Elder Manufacturing Company in Bloomfield and a resident of Dexter. She was first united in marriage to Grant Singleton on Nov. 2, 1940 at Farmington, he preceded her in death on April 12, 1967. She then married George Hopkins on Aug. 12, 1967 at Dexter. Mr. Hopkins preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1984. She is survived by two step-daughters, Beulah Harmon of Bolivar and Beatrice Busby of St. James; by one step-sister, Pauline Burke of Fremont; eight step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one step-son, William Hopkins; by one half-brother, George Vanpool; and by two sisters, Nona Hisaw and Estel Selster. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the Rainey Funeral Chapel at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Clifford Wray officiating. Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Clifton Hinman

Clifton "Shorty" Hinman, son of Irene Sifford Hinman of Dexter and the late Durwood Hinman, was born on Jan. 17, 1941 at Essex and died in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston on Sept. 26, 2001, at the age of 60. Mr. Hinman was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, a mechanic for Paramount Hat, a veteran of the United States Navy and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Moser on Sept. 11, 1963 at Morehouse, she survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ricki Goins and Kelli Robinett, both of Dexter; by his mother, Irene Hinman of Dexter; by one brother, Larry Hinman of Dexter; and by five grandchildren, Ciara McCoy, Blake Robinett, Draya Goins, Fisher Goins, and Griffin Goins. Visitation will be at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, Sept. 28, from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. with Dale Grissom officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter. Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Leo Duley

Leo Duley, son of the late Archie David Duley and Lucy Blevins Duley, was born on March 19, 1924 at Malden and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Sept. 26, 2001, at the age of 77. Mr. Duley attended the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, was a carpenter and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Rainey on July 24, 1948 at Piggott, Ark., she survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Bailey of Dexter; by three brothers, Merrill Duley and Lawrence Duley, both of Dexter, and Ray Duley of Bogalusa, La.; by one sister, Genevieve Bullock of Flint, Mich.; and by one grandson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Duley; by two sisters, Gwendolyn Duley and Nanthleen Duffie. Visitation was held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vyron Yount and Rev. Greg Stevens officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Virdie Goode

Virdie Goode, the daughter of the late Pat and Hattie Gregory Goode, was born at Oreo, Mo. on Oct. 11, 1926 and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Sept. 27, 2001, at the age of 74. Mrs. Goode had lived in Stoddard County since 1945, living in Essex until she moved to Bloomfield in 1970. On Aug. 21, 1944 she was untied in marriage to Harvey Moore. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1977. She is survived by one sister, Virgie M. Brown of Bloomfield. One sister, Margaret Goode, also preceded her in death. Visitation was held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 - 11 a.m. Funeral services followed in the Watkins & Sons Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating. Interment was in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Patricia Bell

Patricia Bell Patricia Bell, daughter of M.E. "Bud" Bresce and the late Marie Green Bresce was born at Wamego, Ka., on May 2, 1948 and died in St. Louis on Sept.28, 2001 at the age of 53. Mrs. Bell was a former resident of the Bloomfield community. She was married to Danny Bell. Survivors include her husband Danny Bell, of St. Louis, her father and step-mother M.E. "Bud" and Coleen Bresce of Haines City, Fla, ; one son and daughter-in-law Rob and Michelle Chism of Bloomfield; one step-daughter and son-in-law Tonya and David Shaner of Suffork, Va.; five grandchildren: Robbie, Rizer and Jewell Chism of Bloomfield; and Jordan and Alexis Shaner of Suffolk, Va. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bresce, and two brothers, Eddie and Larry Bresce. Friends may call at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield fro 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct.2, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Floyd Frye

Floyd Frye Floyd Frye, 96, of Moberly, died Thursday, August 23, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He had been in failing health. Mr. Frye was born Dec.13, 1904, at Swinton. A son of the late Issac M. and Laura Wilson Frye. He lived and farmed in the Bernie area for a number of years. Known around the Moberly area as a minister in the Christian Church, he was also an educator, serving as superintendent of the Northeast and R-4 schools at Cairo and Jacksonville. He was a founding member of the Randolph County Pachyderm Club, active in the Republican Party, long time member of the Old Milton Lodge AF and AM, York Mason and a Shriner. He was a former member of the Cairo Lions Club. Mr. Frye married Mary White on Feb.02, 1945, at Kirksville. She survives at the home in Moberly. Also surviving are four children: Issac and Toni Frye, of Cairo, Beth Smith, of Moberly, Elbert and Lori Frye of Plattsmouth, Neb., and Dale Frye of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Clarence, Clay, Ralph, Howard, Paul, and J. Grant; and sisters: Pearl Cox, Mamie Frye and Veda Robinson; and a daughter, Janet Saddoris. At the request of his family, the body was donated to the Kirksville College of Medicine. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Monday, Aug.27, 2001, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Moberly. Memorials were made to the American Cancer Society.
