William Lacy Franklin

William Lacy Franklin, son of the late Joel Henry and Alice Love Franklin, was born July 13, 1906 in Marion, KY., and died August 28, 2002, at the Charleston Manor at the age of 96. Mr. Franklin was a resident of Morley and was a member of the first graduating class of Diehlstadt High School in 1924 and worked at the West Plains Electrical Corporation in Perryton, Texas, until his retirement in 1969. He moved to Morley in 1970, was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Morehouse and attended church at Morley. He had also formerly lived in the Puxico area. In 1940 he married Velma Hardy who preceded him in death in 1951. In 1973 he married Isabell Hager who preceded him in death in 1990. Surviving are one nephew, Billy G. and Ruth Watson of Charleston; one niece and several great nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Franklin and Vivian Trimble Franklin; and two sisters, Marjorie Williams and Ophelia Watson. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m., to the funeral hour at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 29 at the McMikle Funeral home in Charleston. Interment followed at the Puxico City Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Southside Baptist Church, Tom Brown Street, Charleston, MO. 63834; or Assembly of God Church, 608 S. Main, Charleston, MO., 63834.

Jacob Eissler

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Jacob Eissler, 90, of Holden, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at his daughter's home in Holden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at the Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Holden Cemetery.

Daisy L. Zimmerman

Daisy L. Zimmerman, 98, of Advance, was born June 9, 1904 at Sedgewickville, the daughter of the late George Finis and Ella Lou Johnson Ellis, and passed away on August 26, 2002 at the Advance Nursing Center. Daisy was a retired school teacher. She attended Will Mayfield College in Marble Hill. She was an active member in the Advance United Methodist Church, where she was a MYF youth leader and in the Women Society. Daisy was also a charter member of the Wednesday Study Club, member and past matron O.E.S., Advance Bridge Club and Painton Extension Club. Daisy and H.K. 'Bank: Zimmerman were united in marriage on December 25, 1934 at Sedgewickville and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1986. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Eggimann, of Advance; one grandson, Dirk Eggimann, of Advance; two granddaughters, Stacy Eggimann Harris, of Inmans, KS, and Cassie Marshall of Carrollton, GA; four great-grandchildren, Blake and Kate Marshall, both of Carrollton, GA and Taylor and Zane Eggiman, both of Advance; one brother, Ben Ellis of Sedgewickville; and one sister Grace Reid of Cape Girardeau. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Friends may call at The Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., Thursday, August 29. Eastern Star Rites will be at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, August 30, at the Advance United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack Ketcher officiating and Rev. Tom Zych assisting. Interment will follow at the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance. The family requests memorials be made to the wonderful staff of the Advance Nursing Center.

Madelene E. Crossen

Madelene E. Crossen, the daughter of the late Hosea Victor and Ora Lee McCarthey Smothers, was born in Bernie on Nov. 2, 1921, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Aug. 26, 2002, at the age of 80. Mrs. Crossen had been a resident of Bernie and Dexter. Surviving are two sons, Leonard Jackson and Paul Crossen; three daughters, Christine Robinson and Peggy Prince, both of Dexter, and Imogene Joseph of Lakeland, CA.; two sisters, Ruby Whitherford, of Kingman, AZ., and Lorene Douglas of St. Clair; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Junior C. Jackson; one daughter, Doris A. Fry; two brothers, Freddie E. Smothers and Virgil Smothers; two sisters, Evelyn Smothers and Wanda Lee Miller and one grandson, Ricky Fry. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, from 5-8 p.m., at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Tomie L. Nix, of Dexter, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Elmer 'Gene' Medcalf

Elmer 'Gene' Medcalf, son of the late Elmer Medcalf and Lura Mae Bishoff Medcalf, was born on Jan. 23, 1918, at Bloomfield and died in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital at St. Louis on Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the age of 84. Mr. Medcalf was affiliated with the First United Methodist church in Dexter, was the owner of the Singer sewing machine store in Dexter for many years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to the former Marie L. Kirkpatrick on June 30, 1941, at Kirkwood and to this union three children were born. They were married for 61 years and Mrs. Medcalf survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Bob Medcalf of Southhaven, Miss.; two daughters, Dixie Hicks of Kansas City, Mo., and Lana Clark of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, Benny Medcalf of Park Hills; one sister, Jewell Langdon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home, Dexter. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Larry Hinman and Rev. Roger Wooten officiating. Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery.

Willie Langston

Willie Langston, the son of the late Charles D. and Lula Pauline Ivester Langston, was born in Cape Girardeau and died on Aug. 24, 2002, at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff at the age of 39. Mr. Langston had lived in Dexter most of his life and was a fork lift operator at Tyson Foods in Dexter. He retired from the Missouri National Guard after serving 20 years and was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter. On Nov. 26, 1983, he was married to Patricia Mims at Dexter. To this union two sons were born. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Langston of Dexter; two sons Brian and Bradley Langston of Dexter; two brothers Robert Earl Williamson of Puxico and Jackie Langston of Sikeston; two sisters Dixie Belinda Langston of Fairdealing and Margaret Ann Williamson. Visitation was held after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Jim Baggett officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery with full military honors. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Ruth McClard

Ruth Veronia McClard was born at Elsberry, Mo., on Sept. 3, 1934, and died at Bloomfield on Aug. 24, 2002, at the age of 67. Mrs. McClard was a resident of Troy, Mo., for several years but had been a resident of Bloomfield since 1994. She was a charter member of the Bloomfield Lions Club where she remained very active as long as her health allowed. On Nov. 9, 1982, she was married to Thomas 'Sunnie' McClard of the home in Bloomfield. He survives of the home in Bloomfield. Other survivors include one son, Douglas Scott Jones of O'Fallon; one step-son, Thomas Edward McClard, Jr. of Silicon Valley, Calif.; five daughters, Joyce Elaine Cain of Bloomfield, Carol Ann Keeton of Glenn Falls, N.Y., Peggy Lynn Grossback of Winters, Calif., Shirley Jo Enos of Spokane, Wash., and Brenda Gail Hinze of Troy, four step-daughters, Caroline Marie Cainget of Seattle, Wash., Jeanith Ann Mesa of Guam, M.I., Myrtie Teresa Leskew of Nassau, N.H., and Andres Crystal Poggione of Las Vegas, Nev.; 35 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the Triplett Cemetery near Bloomfield with Rev. Cotus James officiating. Interment followed in the Triplett Cemetery with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.

Jeanene C. McAnelly

Jeanene C. McAnelly, formerly of Dexter, died Aug. 5, 2002, at Cullman, Ala., at the age of 49. The funeral service was held at Moss-Service Chapel in Cullman, Ala., at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Eddie Dean McAnelly; her mother, Shirley L. Churchill; her father, Charles R. Churchill; one daughter, Krystal Elizabeth McAnelly; one step-daughter, Tracey Green; one son, Justin Matthew Harden; and three step-grandchildren. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. Churchill had moved from Dexter to Alabama in 1963.

Elmer Gene Medcalf, Jr.

Elmer Gene Medcalf Jr., a resident of Dexter, died on Aug. 23, 2002, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 84. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Ralph Stockton

Ralph Stockton, the son of the late Hayes and Rachel Bates Stockton, was born in Sesser, Ill., on June 23, 1912, and died at the home of his daughter in Dexter, Mo., on Aug. 23 at the age of 90. Mr. Stockton had lived in Sesser and Benton, Ill., most of his life and moved to Dexter four years ago. He was a retired coal miner and had also worked for the Mars Candy Company in the 1940s. He was a member of the First Church of God in Dexter and the United Mine Workers of America. On June 6, 1938 he was married to Ella Barton in Benton, Ill. Surviving are his wife, Ella Stockton of Dexter; one son, Ronald Stockton of Dearborn, Mich., one daughter, Dee Patterson of Dexter; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters, Nora Taylor, Alice Bradley, Noble Stockton, Martha Stockton, Mae Eisenhart, Floyd Stockton, Freda Eubanks and Sadie Robinson. Visitation will be held at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton, Ill., after 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Patterson of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Horse Prairie Cemetery near Sessor, Ill., with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God in Dexter.
