Merrill M. Schumaker
(March 31, 1916 - June 28, 2011)

Merrill M. Schumaker, 95, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Oak Tree Villa. She was born March 31, 1916 in Fayette, Missouri the daughter of the late Grainger and Lutecia Minor.
On July 11, 1932, she was united in marriage in Detroit, Michigan to Herb H. Schumaker who preceded her in death in 1979.
Merrill was a graduate of Fayette Public Schools. Merrill and Herb owned and operated a Shell Gas Station in Michigan. They then moved to Boonville, Missouri where they owned and operated another Shell Gas Station. In 1961 they moved to Warrensburg, Missouri where they started Schumaker Hardware and operated it for 18 years.
She was a member of Capital City Christian Church. She enjoyed trout fishing, traveling and bird watching especially Cardinals.
She is survived by one daughter: Dana Snodgrass of Jefferson City; one sister: Martha Thorpe of St. Joseph, Missouri; three grandchildren: Terrie Beul husband Mike of Jefferson City, Michael Imhoff wife Lisa of Columbia and Timothy Imhoff of Jefferson City and eight great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her three special care-givers. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Gary Schumaker and one identical sister: Melba Richardson.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2011 at Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street.

Norman Herbert Dierking
(July 25, 1947 - July 7, 2011)

Rev. Norman Herbert Dierking, 63, of Freedom, Missouri was called to eternal life with Jesus on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born July 25, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of the late Rev. Walter and Louise (Lohrmann) Dierking.
Rev. Dierking was a graduate of St. Paul’s Lutheran High School in Concordia, Missouri. He attended Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri where he earned a Master’s degree in Divinity. He also attended University of Missouri – Columbia where he earned a Master’s in Social Work. On June 11, 1971 he was united in marriage to Susan Calvert who survives at the home.
Rev. Dierking served in numerous Lutheran Churches throughout the Missouri Synod, most recently at Pilgrim Lutheran Church - Freedom, Missouri and St. John Lutheran Church - Drake, Missouri. He enjoyed reading the Bible, playing golf, yard work and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his wife Susan, he is survived by one daughter: Jennifer Johnson (Michael) of Jefferson City; three sons: Matthew Dierking (Alicia) of Des Moines, Iowa; Jonathan Dierking of Jefferson City and Michael Dierking (Lisa) of Jefferson City; six siblings: Karl Dierking (Marie) of Rockford, Illinois; Clara Borchardt (Elsworth) of Wausaw, Wisconsin; Wilma Melendez (Andrew) of Boonville, Missouri; Richard Dierking of Danville, Illinois; Ruth Jeffries of Boonville, Missouri; and Howard Dierking (Carol) of Boonville, Missouri; six grandchildren: Luke Johnson, Adam Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Megan Dierking, Jacob Dierking and Emily Dierking; and one sister in law: Barb Dierking of Bonne Terre, Missouri. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Markus Dierking and Rodney Dierking.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Russ Bowder officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Freedom, Missouri or St. John Lutheran Church in Drake, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street; Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.

David E. Lackman, Sr.
(June 8, 1941 - June 21, 2011)

David E. Lackman, Sr., 70, of Westphalia died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Jefferson City. He was born June 8, 1941 in St. Thomas, a son of Steve and Clara Luebbering Lackman, both deceased. On June 6, 1964, David was united in marriage in Taos to Anna Marie Toebben, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2010.
David owned and operated Lackman’s Home Appliance Repair from 1978 to 2005. He has also worked for Westphalia Home Center, Graessle Appliance, Capital City Ford, McGraw Edison, Blackwell’s Garage and St. Mary’s Hospital (St. Louis). David served in the Missouri National Guard from 1963 to 1969. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia Knights of Columbus, St. Jude General Assembly and Western Catholic Union.
He is survived by four children: Darin (Kate) Lackman of Jefferson City, Becky (Greg) Bowman of Jefferson City, Darla (Kurt) Klebba of Taos, David (Darla) Lackman, Jr. of Westphalia; three brothers: Joseph Lackman (Dorothy) of Ohio, Paul Lackman (Lillian) of St. Thomas, Ben Lackman (Elaine) of Centertown; five sisters: Dr. Virginia Billian (Leonard) of Maryland, Sr. Cecilia Lackman, SSM, of St. Louis, David’s twin sister Dorothy Hartung (Charles) of St. Louis, Juliet Rodeman (Ralph) of Columbia, Harriet Lackman of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren: Shae Lackman, Brad Bowman, Bryan Bowman, Shelby Vessell, Kayla Vessell, Jacob Klebba, Carson Klebba, Megan Lackman, Bradley Lackman; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Lage and Herbert Otto; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Frances Ann Lackman, Norine Lage and Rosemary Otto.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Westphalia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mark S. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of HILKE-MILLARD Funeral Home, 101 Linn St.

Jerry Lee Sutton
(December 13, 1967 - July 3, 2011)

Jerry Lee Sutton, 43, of Columbia Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Boone Hospital Center. He was born on December 13, 1967 in Indianola, Mississippi to Jimmie Lee Sutton and Mary Hazel (McConnell) Sutton.
He lived most of his life in Central Missouri where he was a successful entrepreneur, businessman and barbeque master. As owner of Sutton’s Barbeque, Jerry was proud to provide meals to many of the entertainers who have passed through Columbia over the years. Along with his family they have provided an annual Thanksgiving dinner for the University of Missouri Athletes who stayed in town over the holiday. One of his proudest professional moments happened in 2000 when he served lunch to then President William Jefferson Clinton, when he visited Columbia. Most importantly, he will always be remembered as a loving father to his children. Jerry is survived by his parents; his children: Ayanna Sutton; Jerrion Nelson; Haunye’ Ricketts; Aneshya Sutton; a cherished daughter; Mahogany Bell all of Columbia; seven sisters: Mary Ann Kennedy; Martha Ann Jones; Essie May Rainey; Pastor Sarah Alice (Joseph) Wilson; Emma Jean Richardson; Dorothy Jean (John) Cannon; Cassandra Kheswa; six brothers: Jimmy Lee Suttton, Jr.; James Barton (Vanessa) Sutton; Larry Donial (Pamela) Sutton; Terry Wayne (Candice) Sutton; Dennis (Michelle) Smith; Daryl Jackson-Sutton; honorary family members: Anna & Oscar Kemp; special friends: Asia Ricketts; Angela Banks; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, business associates and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by an infant brother: John Sutton in 1958.
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Millard Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at Second Baptist Church with the Reverend Ralph Curtis Banks officiating. Interment will take place at Columbia Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of MILLARD FAMILY Funeral Home, 12 East Ash Street; Columbia, MO 65203.

Keith Edward Scheperle
(May 14, 1949 - July 8, 2011)

Keith Edward Scheperle, 62, of Jefferson City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 8, 2011, in Columbia, Missouri. He was born May 14, 1949, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Clifford P. and Emaline R. (Schneider) Scheperle.
Keith was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson City High School and a graduate of Lincoln University. Keith was the co-owner of All Seasons Landscaping. Keith was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served in the Missouri National Guard and was an Eagle Scout. He was an avid Jay Football booster and loved watching good baseball, having just gone to the 2011 College World Series with his son and grandson.
He loved working in his garden, looking for antiques, hunting and fishing, and attending country picnics. But most of all, Keith loved his family; especially his grandchildren, who were the loves of his life and the apple of his eye. “Pop” loved them dearly.
Keith was married for 43 years to Renee (Brown) Scheperle, who survives at their home. Other survivors, are his son, who he was so proud of Kristopher Scheperle (wife Jennifer), grandchildren: Hannah Rene, Krisjen Charles “Charlie”, Elizabeth Kay “Elly”, and little Adam Edward; and a daughter-in-law: Gayle Scheperle Doll; his wonderful big brothers: Gary Scheperle (wife Brenda), and Dale Scheperle (wife Alvyne); and his little sister: Janis Miller (husband Eric).
Keith is also survived by a sister-in-law: Lynne Waisner (husband Gary); two brothers-in-law: Mark Brown (wife Stephanie), and Robb Brown. They were more than in-laws, they were his friends. Other survivors are his mother-in-law: Lucille Brown, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a beloved son: Adam Aaron Scheperle; his parents: Clifford and Emily Scheperle; and his father-in-law: Bill Brown.

Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Russ Bowder officiating. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran School PTL Technology Fund or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street; Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.

James Donald Lee Pugh

Graveside services for James Donald Lee Pugh, age 63, of Forsyth, Mo., were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo., with Steve Maples officiating. Military honors were conducted by U.S. Army Fort Leonard Wood. Arrangements were under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home, Branson.
He died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Skaggs Regional Health Center, Branson.
He was born on September 4, 1948 in Cullman County, Alabama, the son of Franklin and Mary Freeman Pugh. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served 25 years for his country. He was also a U.S. Postal employee.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Wood Pugh of the home, two daughters, Patricia Pugh of Springfield, Mo., and Michelle Pugh of Forsyth, Mo., and three brothers.

Ivan Ray White

Ivan Ray White, son of the late Rufus and Minnie Shride White, was born at Dalton, Ark. and died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Manila Nursing Center in Manila, Ark. at the age of 87. He lived in Bernie for 45 years where he managed his farming and real estate interests. At his retirement in 1992, he returned to his Manila home where he became an active member of the Westside Baptist Church and church choir. Mr. White served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife Alma Ashabranner White; his brothers, Albert, Doyle and Daily White. He is survived by three brothers, Clifford White of Leachville, Ark., Paul White of Imboden, Ark. and Jewell White of Silsbee, Texas; two sisters, Bessie Griffin Hetler of Manila and Marie Robertson of Melbourne, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Howard Funeral Chapel of Manila. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Westside Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Doyne officiating. Interment will follow in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church in Manila.

Elmo Jones

Elmo Jones, son of the late Stanley G. Jones and Veda Gluber Jones, was born on July 22, 1922, at Graham, Texas, and died in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston on Oct. 30, 2002, at the age of 80. Mr. Jones was a former boiler technician at the John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WW II and the Korean War and a resident of Essex. He was united in marriage to Patsy Mofield on Nov. 10, 1965, at Essex. Mrs. Jones preceded him in death on April 30, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Mick Jones of Essex and Kenneth Mofield of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and seven grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelley Dale Jones; one brother, Stanley Jones; and one sister, Mary Norman. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. W.H. Worth and Rev. Dale Shearon officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
