Wanda Lee Stephens

Wanda Lee Stephens, the daughter of the late Charles and Lora Lee Venable Dailey, was born in Puxico on Feb. 5, 1922, and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare Center North in Poplar Bluff on Oct. 29, 2002, at the age of 80. Mrs. Stephens had lived in the Puxico community for many years, in Malden for ten years and had moved to Dexter five years ago. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter. On Oct. 15, 1938, she was married to Norman Crank, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1964. On Jan. 17, 1986, she married Ray E. Stephens in Dexter. Surviving are her husband Ray E. Stephens of Dexter; one son, Larry Lee Crank of Puxico; one daughter, Deloris Braswell of Wappapello; one step-son, J.E. Stephens of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Narva Young of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and several step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one grandson, Jim Braswell. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Lambert and the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Robert A. "Bob" Isnor

Robert A. "Bob" Isnor, son of the late Robert Gerald and Annie Spriggs Isnor, was born on May 21, 1940, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and died on Oct. 30, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston at the age of 62. Mr. Isnor served in the Canadian Army. He attended college in Boston, Mass. and was a lab technician in Missouri and Georgia before he retired in 1994 due to ill health. On Aug. 3, 1986, in Vanduser he was married to Carol Lee Duncan Gosnell who survives of the home in Morehouse. Other survivors include four step-daughters, Carmon Gott, Lora Beth Hoggard, Bobbie Vaughn and Angie Moore, all of Dexter; and eight step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston with Pastor Carl Addison and Associate Pastor Larry Smith officiating.

Dickie J. Keene

Dickie Joe Keene, son of the late Lloyd Keene and Mary D. Gunter, was born on Tuesday, July 20, 1948, at Benton and died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at his residence in Cape Girardeau. He graduated from Puxico High School in 1966 and had attended the Southeast Missouri State University. He had been manager of Cape Tractor Trailer Supply for 22 years. Mr. Keene was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. He was a 25-year member of the Elks Lodge #639 in Cape Girardeau and a 25-year member of the Masonic Lodge #590 of Advance. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister. On Sept. 2, 1978, he was married to Debbie K. Seabaugh at Jackson, and she survives of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Mary D. Keene McFarland, of Marble Hill; one son, Lance Corporal John Wesley Keene of Camp LeJeune, N.C.; and two brothers, Lloyd David Keene and Kevin D. Keene, both of Advance. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002., and an Elks service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002. Following the Elks service, a Masonic service will be held. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson with Msgr. Ed Eftink officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Jake F. Hamby

Jake Freeman Hamby, son of the late Jesse Cobert and Geneva Fitzpatrick Hamby, was born at Bloomfield on April 27, 1926, and died at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Oct. 29, 2002, at the age of 76. Mr. Hamby had spent most of his life in the Bloomfield community and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. On June 28, 1947, he was married to Imogene Taylor, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2000. Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Wyatt of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Cristy Dixon of Dexter, Terri Ann Hann, Marty Wyatt and Sarah Walker, all of Bloomfield; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Robinson and Vevlean Clary, both of Dexter. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Rick Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Hills Cemetery near Bloomfield.

Nelda Shaw

Nelda Lee Shaw, daughter of the late Ralph Winslow Crain and Ruby Kitchens Crain, was born on Oct. 12, 1926, at Bernie and died in the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau on Oct. 24, 2002, at the age of 76. Mrs. Shaw was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Bob Shaw on Dec. 28, 1943, at Piggott, Ark., and to this union two children were born. Mr. Shaw survives of the home in Dexter. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert 'Pete' Shaw of Dexter and James Rand Shaw of Belleville, Ill.; by one brother, Larry Crain of Malden; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, in the Dexter Church of Christ with Jim Faughn and Dale Grissom officiating. Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery near Dexter.

Icie Mae Price

Icie Mae Price, the daughter of the late Lee Estes and Amanda Dodd Estes, was born on June 18, 1912, in Winston County, Ala., and died on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Cypress Point Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 90. On Oct. 12, 1972, in Benton she was married to Noah S. Price who preceded her in death on March 14, 1994. Mrs. Price, who formerly lived in Sikeston and Neelyville, was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ Survivors include two step-sons, Raymond Price of Sikeston and William Price of Yuma, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Bonnie Garner of Neelyville; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 403 N. Kingshighway, Sikeston. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Blanchard Funeral Chapel with Dale Grissom officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Ruth Sprinkle

Ruth Sprinkle, daughter of the late Noah Parris and Maude Whitley Parris, was born on Aug. 29, 1913, at Fayette, Ala., and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Oct. 15, 2002, at the age of 89. Mrs. Sprinkle was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter, a former employee of Brown Shoe Company in Bernie, a former employee of Swift and Company in Dexter, and a resident of Bloomfield. She was united in marriage to J.D. Sprinkle on March 16, 1956, at Alton, Ill. Mr. Sprinkle preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1961. Survivors include five daughters, Ruth Black, JoAnn Burleson, and Sharon Kirkman all of Dexter, Nellie Stewart of Cuba, and Sue Murphy of Jefferson City; two sisters, Bonnie Haga of Dexter and Edith Beggs of Eureka Spring; 23 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Jack Kirkman, Charles Kirkman and Frankie Kirkman; four brothers, Robert Parris, George Parris, Paul Parris and Walter Parris. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. today Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Edward Tippen

Edward E. Tippen, 68, of Wenatchee, Wash., formerly of Dexter, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Central Washington Hospital. Mr. Tippen had lived in Washington and Missouri for numerous years, had worked for Alcoa, had been an orchardist with J.K. McArthur & Sons, worked as a parts manager for Tilly Equipment and Valley Tractor, and was a truck driver for the government. Survivors include his wife, Jean Tippen of Wenatchee, Wash.; a son, Edward Tippen of Wenatchee, Wash.; a daughter, Sherry Abby of Texas; a son, Gary Tippen of Wenatchee, Wash.; a brother, Buddy Tippen of Missouri; and a brother, LaRue Grim of San Francisco, Calif. A graveside service will be held at the Entiat, Washington Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones Funeral Directors, Wenatchee, Wash.

Rosemary Cooper Cleveland

Rosemary Cooper Cleveland, daughter of the late John and Montez Dillworth Cooper, was born on June 25, 1928, in Bloomfield and died Oct. 19, 2002, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 74. Mrs. Cleveland was a homemaker and a member of the Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo, Ill., VFW Post 6368 Ladies Auxiliary in Dupo, and enjoyed quilting with the quilters of First Congregational Church in Dupo. Survivors include her children: Elaine (Marvin) Mueller of Columbia, Ill, I.D. (Barbara) Cleveland, Mitchell (Nancy) Cleveland, all of Dupo, Paula (Jon) Beck of Warrensburg, Carl (June) Cleveland of Sparta, Ill.; grandchildren, Matthew (Pam) Mueller, Suzanne (James) Mickelson, Mark Mueller, Jon Kyle and Kenny Beck, Brian Cleveland, Michele Cleveland, Andy Cleveland, Cameron Cleveland, Constance Cleveland and Caryn Cleveland; three sisters-in-law, Versa (Gene) Guilford, Doris Cleveland and Bonnieta (Curtis) Wiechert, all of Dupo; and one aunt, Elsie Cooper of Marble Hill. Other survivors include several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Idus U. Cleveland and two sisters, Margaret Ann Watson and Laura Ann Cooper. Visitation was held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Dashner Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo with Rev. Robert Walker officiating. Interment followed in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in South St. Louis.
