James Randolph Hutson

James Randolph Hutson, 57, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 at his home.
Cremation is planned under the direction of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
Jim had a way of making everyone he met feel special. He was a Christian with a super sense of humor known as “Jimmy jokes.” Every day he handed out smiles and lent a helping hand for those in need.
Jim spent his younger years as a bread delivery man, working for both Manor Bakers and Colonial Bakery in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, Jim attended DeVry University of Kansas City and received his degree in computer and electronics technology. With degree in hand, Jim opened his own company, MoKan Technology, in Butler, Missouri. After moving to Warrensburg, Jim continued to use his skills by repairing computers for his friends and neighbors.
Jim was born Nov. 3, 1956, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward Kenneth and Margaret Emma (Harris) Hutson. He is survived by one sister, Diana Dee Thomas, and husband, Herman, of Butler; one brother, Edward Michael Hutson, of Albuquerque, N.M.; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Sharon Nichols of Lake Lotawana, Missouri; and his dog, Rocky. He was preceded in death by his parents and, in 1979, by his younger brother, John Kenneth Hutson.
Because Jim loved to help those around him, the family suggests donations to a neighborhood food pantry or animal shelter.

John E. Fleener

John E. Fleener, 83, of Stark City, Missouri, died Aug. 19, 2014.
The family will be receiving guests from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Williams funeral Chapel, 1400 S. Maguire St. in Warrensburg.
A celebration of John’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with the Rev. Doug Gripka officiating. Interment will follow at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
John was born on June 24, 1931, to John and Julie Fleener at their home in Leeton, Missouri. John was united in marriage to Vera Franklin on Jan. 20, 1951, and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by Betty Rowe of Stark City, Missouri, his wife of the heart for the last four years; two daughters, Kathy Ross, and her husband, Stephen, of Neosho, Missouri; and Vickie Fletcher of Walker, Louisiana; two sons, Keven Fleener and wife, Viola, of Loughman Florida; and Steven Fleener of Tipton, Missouri. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Fleener, of Centerview, Missouri; two sisters, Margie Fleener of Warrensburg, Missouri; and Patty Bond of Centerview. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Wilma Sims and Betty Swadley.
John was a steady fixture at R.B. Rice Sausage Co., where he worked as a butcher and maintenance man in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was a valuable employee at Swisher Mower in Warrensburg where he worked as an independent wiring engineer.
John moved to Stark City in July 2010 where he resided until his death at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newtonia Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Marvin M. “Red” Racy

Marvin M. “Red” Racy, 83, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 31, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Pastor John Phillips officiating.
Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by Warrensburg American Legion Post 131 and VFW Post 2513.
He was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Kingston, Missouri, the son of Irvin Edward and Hattie Lue (Silkwood) Racy.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie McGirl on April 28, 1958, in the home of the Rev. Herbert Woodruff in Warrensburg.
Marvin joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After the military, he worked as a wastewater operator for the city of Warrensburg and retired after more than 30 years of service.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clifford Eugene, Harvey Edward and John Richard Racy; and two sisters, Mary Lue Kennally and Ida Pearl Mifflin.

Hayden Michael Gillroy

Hayden Michael Gillroy, 8 days old, passed away Wednesday, August 20 at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25th at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his parents: Daniel R. and Amber D. (Jalomo) Gillroy of Odessa, Missouri; twin brother: Brayden Scott Gillroy; paternal grandparents: Dennis & Renia Gillroy of Holden, Missouri; maternal grandparents: Elizabeth & Luciano Jalomo of Warrensburg, Missouri; paternal great grandparents: David and Carolyn Robinson of Centerview, Missouri; and maternal great grandparents: Alex and Mary Castillo of Vernon, Texas.
The family will receive friends Monday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, one hour prior to service.

Donnie D. Cox

Donnie D. Cox, 74, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri, with Brother Charles Brant officiating.
Pallbearers will be Harold Cox, Charles Ossenbrink, Lee Parks, Dale Comfort, Marty Cox and Jimmy Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Younce, Charlie Reynolds, Jim Noble, Frank Younce and Oscar Younce.
Interment will follow at Payne Cemetery north of Knob Noster.
The family received friends Sunday, Aug. 17, at the funeral home.
He was born March 13, 1940, in Valley City, Missouri, the son of Otis and Sadie (Hall) Cox.
He was united in marriage to Karen Hilderbrand on Oct. 25, 1964, in Columbus, Indiana.
Donnie joined the U.S. Army from August 1963 to July 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. After his military career, he went to work for the Johnson County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years and retired in 2002. Donnie loved fishing and hunting, especially raccoon hunting.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Harold Cox of Warrensburg; and Herbert Cox and companion, Suzanne Osborne of Warrensburg; one daughter, Mitzi Parks and husband, Lee of Knob Noster; one sister, Dorothy Younce, and husband, James of Knob Noster; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Johnny Dale Cox on Sept. 15, 1991; two brothers, Dale and Martin Cox; and three sisters, Viola Elwell, Vera Lee Hontz and Irene Cox in infancy.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Payne Cemetery and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Deloris Irene Johnson

Deloris Irene Johnson, 76, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at North Kansas City Hospital.
There will be a vigil service 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21st at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, immediately followed by visitation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg with Father Joe Miller officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas.
Deloris was born Aug. 30, 1937 in Olathe, Kansas the daughter of Clyde Herbert Eisele and Irene (Siler) Eisele.
She was united in marriage to Larry Kay Johnson on May 4, 1957 in Olathe, Kansas.
She graduated from Emporia State University, and shortly after, moved with her family to Athens, Georgia. In 1964, they moved to Warrensburg where Deloris taught at Sacred Heart Grade School. She eventually took leave of absence from teaching to concentrate on raising her family. More recently, she taught Math and Science at Leeton Middle School until retiring in May of 2000. Deloris received her Master’s Degree from Central Missouri State University. She was an active member of Jaycee Wives. Deloris was also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg. She served as a Eucharist Minister for several years.
Deloris is survived by five children, Larry Johnson II, and wife, Marcie of Blue Springs, Missouri; Gregory Johnson of Greenville, Texas; Clayton Johnson and wife, Tammy of Warrensburg; Deborah Frazier and husband, Leonard of Kansas City, Missouri; Veronica Schrand and husband, James of O’Fallon, Missouri; two brothers: Robert Eisele and wife, Diane of Olathe, Kansas and Michael Eisele Olathe, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; both parents; brother, Clyde Eisele and sister-in-law Betty Eisele.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to UCM Foundation, memo line Dr. Larry and Deloris Johnson Scholarship or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, memo line Deloris Johnson/elevator fund.

Charles Thomas Hunzinger

Charles Thomas Hunzinger, 73, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Home in Warrensburg, with Chaplain Eric Kurz officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Stockton, Mike Roberts, Randy Jones, John Parsons, John White and Richard Staples. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Gelbach, Mick Lamb, Scott Stockton, John Edmiston, Monte Wetzel, Chad Eickleberry and Jake Donovan.
Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.
He was born March 19, 1941, in Warrensburg, the son of Thomas and Gladys (Hanna) Hunzinger.
He was united in marriage Marie Garner on July 4, 1985, in Warrensburg.
Charles graduated from Warrensburg High School, class of 1959. He then attended and graduated from Central Missouri State College in 1963 with Bachelor of Science in education. Charles started teaching industrial arts at Knob Noster Junior High in the fall of 1963. In the fall of 1969, he started teaching at the Lee’s Summit School District where he taught his last 25 years and retired in the spring of 1995. In addition to teaching, Charles also worked in concrete foundation work, beginning in 1968 and continued until his death.
Charles is survived by his wife, Marie, of the home; one daughter, Ashley Hunzinger; and one grandson, Charlie Thomas Hunzinger, both of Warrensburg; one stepson, Larry Ruble of Lee’s Summit; one stepdaughter, Tina Ruble of Warsaw, Missouri; 10 step-grandchildren and eight great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, on May 10, 1966; his mother, Gladys, on Nov. 17, 1981; one sister, Lois Powers, on Feb. 1, 2004; and one stepson, Bryan Ruble, on June 8, 2013.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Ellen Irene Tinder

Ellen Irene Tinder, 74, of Holden, Missouri, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.
A visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home in Holden. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Ben Cast & Son Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holden Cemetery.
She was born in Versailles, Missouri, on July 23, 1940, a daughter of George Lee Pearl sr., and Mable Lee (Kitner) Pearl. She married Dennis Wayne Tinder on May 21, 1981. Dennis preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2011. Ellen was a certified nurse’s aide and a certified medical technician at Johnson County Care Center in Warrensburg. Ellen served as the president of the Holden Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
Surviving her passing are two daughters, Teresa McGuire of Holden; and Cherrill Paul of Warrensburg; one brother, George Franklin Pearl; three sisters, Darlene Barry of Independence, Missouri; Elaine Vessel of Modesto, California; and Barbara Schruck of Independence; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Lloyd Purl and George Pearl, preceded her in death.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ben Cast & Son Wood Funeral Home.
