William F. Hughes, 88, of Hudson, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at Bayonet Point Health & Rehab Center in Hudson, Fla.
He was born in Flint Hill on Aug. 7, 1922 to George and Margaret (Hill) Hughes. Bill grew up with his brother, George "Junior" in Moscow Mills. Country living was hard work but meaningful and rewarding.
Bill met his future wife, Phyllis Bartlett, in New Mexico while standing in line at a delicatessen. Shortly after, they were married. The couple was blessed with two children: Michael and Pattie. Bill was called to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Following his time in service, the Hughes' family moved to Satellite Beach near Cape Kennedy, Fla., so Bill could pursue his career with the NASA Space Program. The Hughes' family life centered around Bill's job with NASA.
After 30 years, he retired from NASA, and the couple moved to North Carolina. For five years, they enjoyed their four acres and huge garden. They later moved back to Florida to be closer to family. Surviving are his beloved wife: Phyllis Hughes, of Hudson, Fla.; his son, Michael "Mike" Hughes and wife, Patty, of New Port Richey, Fla.; and daughter, Pattie Hannah and her husband Mack, of Atlanta, Ga.; four wonderful grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Mccoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Officiating was his son-in-law, Dr. Mack Hannah. Interment followed in the Troy City Cemetery, Troy. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m., from the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Troy.
Memorials may be made to donor's choice, c/o the funeral home.

Norma "Gigi" Altemueller, 92, followed the angels home on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Sugar Creek Assisted Living in Troy.
She was born on July 25, 1917, in St. Louis, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Haas. She was united in marriage to James "Jim" Altemueller in November of 1973. She was preceded by her husband on September 24, 1994.
Norma graduated from Ritenour High School and after finishing high school she earned her degree at Hickey's Secretarial School. Norma was employed for over 25 years at Home Federal Savings and Loans. She was a member of the Sevilo Club, Professional Business Women's, Girl Scout Brownie Leader, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Saint Ann's Sodality. She is survived by her two loving daughters: Barbara Schniedermeyer and husband, Steve, of Troy, MO and Charlene Sammis of Florida Keys; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home / Troy Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. Officiating will be Father Tom Wissler. Interment will be at Saint Charles Memorial Garden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Community Loving Care Hospice. In care of Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Chapel P.O. 222, Troy, MO 63379.

Mary E. Nordwald, 71, Hawk Point, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at St. Joseph's West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis.
She was born on August 27, 1938, in St. Charles, a daughter of the late Bernyse (Dutch) and Mary Katherine Towne. She was united in marriage to Ronald Nordwald, Sr. who preceded her in death.
Mary graduated high school from St. Charles. She worked for Schnucks for 33 1/2 years as an administrative assistant. Mary was a member of the Hawk Point Community Church, Missouri Business and Professional Women's Organization, Federal Business and Professional Women's Organization, The Hawk Point Evening Extension and the Hawk Point Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Frank Nordwald of Hawk Point; one grandson, Bruce Nordwald, of Moscow Mills; one sister, Sharon Stanek and husband Frankie of Hawk Point; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Hawk Point Community Church at 222 Maple St. Hawk Point. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Hawk Point Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hawk Point Community Church.

Funeral Services for Esther Marie Freese of St. Charles, formerly of Winfield, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010 in St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. Rev. Michael Kasevich, church pastor, officiated with burial in St. Paul United Church of Christ Cemetery near Old Monroe. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
Mrs. Freese, 86, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 14, 2010 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Center in O'Fallon, MO. Born Sept. 27, 1923 in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of William Henry and Meta Elnora Meier Hackmann. She was a 1941 graduate of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on April 22, 1950 in St. Charles, to Paul Henry Freese.
This union was blessed with three children: Gloria, Crystal and Carlton. She was a clean room production technician at Monsanto in O'Fallon, retiring in 1989. She was very active with WINCO for over twenty years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. She was the first woman elected to the St. Paul UCC Church Council, and she served on numerous church committees.
Survivors include one son, Carlton Freese and his wife, Paulette, of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Gloria Freese of Kansas City, and Crystal Freese and her husband, Kenton Selsvold, of St. Charles; three grandchildren: Victoria Nicole Freese of Indianapolis, Ind., Brianna Nicole Selsvold of St. Charles, and Paul Cully Freese of Louisville, Ky.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 2 p.m., until the time of the service at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010 at St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ or to WINCO in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes, 3838 East Highway 47; P.O. Box 253; Winfield, MO 63389.

Juanita Sarver, age 91, of Wright City and formerly of Pike County, Ill. went to be with her Lord on July 16, 2010.
The former Juanita Dennis was born in Feb. 16, 1919 in Waverly, Ill. daughter of the late Mark and Inez Matthew Dennis. She married George B. Sarver on July 14, 1935, in Winchester, Ill. and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1998.
Surviving are five children, LaVonne of Wright City, Tamitha Thomas and husband Bill of Sublette, Kan., Rebecca Sarver Snider, of Wright City, Mark Sarver and wife Rhonda of Carpenterville, Ill., and Janice E. Sarver, of Wright City; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; one sister Vivian Emrick of Valley City, Il. and many much loved nieces and nephews, and dear friends around the world.
Juanita was a voracious reader, avid gardener, and fine cook. She was a faithful member of the Wright City Church of the Nazarene, where she especially enjoyed her Sunday School class. Consequently, the family asks that memorials go to Nazarene Missions International and the Heartland Memorial Fund.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville Ill. Burial wasin the Griggsville Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. A memorial service at Wright City, Mo., Church of the Nazarene will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Nazarene Missions International and the Heartland Memorial Fund, c/o Airsman-Hires Chapel, Box 341, Griggsville, Il. 62340.

Mr. John T. Marker Jr. B.S. in Engineering, M.S.E. in Transportation Planning, M.S.A. in Accounting, and CPA, age 35, of Troy, and formerly of Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at St. Joseph East Hospital in St. Charles following a courageous fight with cancer.
John was born on Sept. 3, 1974 in Bethesda, Md. to John T. and Margaret "Peggy" (Kinter) Marker. He attended the local schools along with his brothers, Dan and Dave. During junior high school, John Jr. met his future wife, Naomi McAtee. Several years later, they became reacquainted while in German class in high school. John and Naomi were married on Nov. 27, 1993, in Loveland, Colo. To this union were born four children: Kadrin, Jarrod, Alyse and Mira.
John had two Masters degrees and also did his doctoral studies at Penn State Univ., State College, Penn. He had worked in Colorado as a transportation planner but decided to go back to school to become an accountant. He worked as an accountant for the Dyno-Nobel Co. in Louisiana. Upon moving to Missouri, the Marker family joined the First Assembly of God Church in Troy and were embraced by their church family.
Surviving are his loving family: his beloved wife, Naomi Marker, of Troy; his parents: John and Peggy Marker Sr. of Loveland, Colo.; his four adoring children: Kadrin, Jarrod, Alyse and Mira; his brother: Dave Marker of Louisville, Colo, ; his in-laws: Norman and Mary Lou McAtee of Loveland, Colo.; Charise and Shane Sullivan, of Duluth, Minn.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church, 432 S. Lincoln Dr., Troy. Rev. Darrell Alley will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Memorials may be made to the Marker Children's Education Fund, c/o the funeral home.

Ramona Lynn Thompson, 50, Troy, passed from life to life on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at her residence.
She was born on August 4, 1959, in Troy, a daughter of Henry and Margorie Kersting, Sr. On April 7, 2001 she was united in marriage with Laverne Thompson who survives.
Ramona was educated in the Troy Public schools. She was employed for a time by the Hawk Point Chicken Farm. She also worked at Casey's and fast food restaurants. The occupation she liked best was Home Health Aide for Nurses to Go.
She is survived by her loving husband, Laverne Thompson of Troy; two sons: Jeremiah and wife Melissa Kersting of Winfield, Missouri and James "Leon" Reeder and significant other Natashya, of Winfield; one step-daughter, Kathleen Thompson of Troy, and one step-son, Joshua Thompson of Troy: one grandson, Hank Reeder; four brothers: Wallace Kersting, of Warrenton, Henry Kersting, Jr., of Hawk Point, Paul E. David of Mexico, and Dean David of Chapman, Kan.; one sister: Shirley Dobbs and husband, Charlie, of Warrenton, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home / Hawk Point Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Chapel. Officiating will be Canaan Sonnenschein.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Family of Ramona Thompson in care of Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Chapel; P.O. Box 222, Troy, MO 63379.

Marie Ivy Stonebarger, 91, of Wellsville, passed away on May 15, 2010 at the Golden Living Center.
Mrs. Stonebarger was born on June 22, 1918, in Milan, Mo., to Lloyd McDonald and Mabel Glidewell. She was a homemaker, who loved to cook. She was a member of the Wright City Methodist Church.
Preceding her death were: her husband, Samuel Stonebarger; two sons, Aaron Gibson, and George Gibson.
Surviving her are: two sons, Charles Gibson and Verlin Gibson; daughter, Peggy Amann, of Hawk Point; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. at the Pitman Funeral Home, 300 Veterans Memorial Parkway in Wright City. Funeral followed at 3 p.m. at the Wright City Funeral.
