Dorothy Lillian Hanke, 89 of Glasgow, KY, formerly of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at the Glasgow Health and Rehab Center. She was born June 4, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Arthur and Gertrude Morgner McCambell. She was married June 6, 1936 to Elmer August Hanke who preceded her in death on May 4, 1987. Hanke was a homemaker. She also worked for P.N. Hirsch Department Store in O'Fallon and was a sales lady for AVON for six years. She is survived by two sons: Gus Hanke and wife, Pam, of Troy and Jack Hanke and wife, Margie, of O'Fallon; one daughter, Ginger Edwards and husband, Bob, of Lucas, KY; one sister, Alice Hedley of St. Charles and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home /Troy Chapel. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was private. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, PO Box 222, Troy, MO 63379.

Lenore Peddicord Hilding, 63, of Pink Home Road, completed her journey on earth December 4, 2007, and went home to be with the Master Gardener after a short but courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 7, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Troy. Rev. Richard Rhea will officiate. Born in Portland, Oregon on March 18, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Donald E. Peddicord and the late Hazel Irene (Pullen) Peddicord. Dorothy grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, settling in Missouri 19 years ago to be near her beloved children and grandchildren. Dorothy rededicated her life to Christ in 2003 and joined the First Baptist Church of Troy and the Joy Belles Sunday School class. She loved the LORD, the church, and especially her "Belles" who loved her back. Her life exemplified perseverance, strength, and love. Dorothy was a gifted gardener, and planted anything that had roots, and some things that didn't. She could attract more hummingbirds to her yard than could be counted, and she always had a menagerie of critters around. To everyone's delight, she followed in her grandmother's and mother's footsteps and became an exceptional cook, talented seamstress, and needle artist. Dorothy is survived by her husband Kenneth Hilding of the home; her son, Mark Allen Hilding of Troy; her daughter and son-in-law: Michele Rae and David Turner, of Foristell; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Richard Sheehey of Des Moines, IA., and Bette and Glenn Christensen of Rock Hill, S.C.; her daughter-in-law, Tamara Barhite; four grandchildren, Tyler Turner, Whitney Turner, Alex Turner, Chelsa Hilding, James Barhite, and Jason Barhite; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o the McCoy Blossom Funeral Home, 1304 Boone St. Troy, MO. 63379

A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Henry "Nick" Lagemann, 85, of Elsberry, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Raymond Hager, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Mr. Lagemann died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy.
Born Oct. 25, 1922, in Vermillion, S.D., he was the son of Alfred Louis and Louise Josephine Dailey Lagemann. A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army from March 3, 1943, until being honorably discharged December 7, 1945. He was united in marriage on Aug. 7, 1946, in Louisiana, Mo., to Margaret Mary Ballman. A lifelong resident of southern Pike and northern Lincoln counties, he was a farmer almost all of his life. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret Lagemann, of Elsberry; five sons, Tom Lagemann and his wife, Judy, of New Haven, Richard Lagemann and his wife, Judy, of Wright City, Bill Lagemann and his wife, Vicki, of Clarksville, Alan Lagemann and his wife, Katie, of Elsberry, Gary Lagemann and his wife, Ronna, of Whiteside; four daughters, Debbie Foster and her husband, Dennis, of Elsberry, Carol Pilcher and her husband, Dennis, of Elsberry, Connie Asbury and her husband, Randy, of Yates and Angela Geosling and her husband, Leaman, of Springfield, Mo.; 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers, John Lagemann and his wife, Pearl, of Elsberry, Joe Lagemann and his wife, Delores, of Center, Philip Lagemann and his wife, Wilma, of Eolia and Jerry Lagemann of Ohio; three sisters, Dorothy Singleton, of St. Charles, Margaret Kientzy, of Silex and Bibi Killebrew, of Smithon, Ill.; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. A prayer service will be held during the visitation at the church. Memorials may be made to the J.R. Palmer Library, Sacred Heart Church Outreach or to Masses in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.

Funeral services for Nora Lee Lonsberry, 94, of Wentzville, were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville. Rev. Doug McLaughlin officiated. Interment followed in the Millcreek Cemetery near Silex. Mrs. Lonsberry died Dec. 2, 2007. Born Feb. 13, 1913, in Whiteside, she was the daughter of Walter and Gertrude Potts (nee Coose). She worked as a hot dempler for McDonnell-Douglas. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Sheets, of Wentzville; three sistes, Juanita Hewitt, of Warrenton, Willa Marie Wiess, of Ft. Meyers, FL and Norma Loesch, of Lake of the Ozarks; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the funeral home. Memorials to the Missouri Baptist Childrens Home or Wentzville American Legion Auxiliary Poppy fund may me made in care of: Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.

Kenneth E. Norton, age 55 of Troy, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood. Fr. Paul Telken officiated. Burial was in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Norton was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex. He was born September 14, 1952, in St. Charles, the son of Edward Jr. and Lorraine Hahn Norton. Survivors include one sister, Ruth Ann Norton, of Troy, and many cousins and friends. He lived on a farm south of Millwood until approximately 15 years ago when he moved to Troy. He attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church then after moving to Troy he attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Norton was a truck driver for Schwiete Trucking in Hawk Point, then worked for Bill Gibson Trucking in St. Louis for about 20 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and visiting with people.Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Braylin Scott Spears-Sambo, of Troy, were held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at noon at the Baue Funeral Home in O'Fallon. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in O'Fallon. Visitation was held Dec. 4 from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. Braylin was born Nov. 23, 2007, in St. Louis County. He died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children in St. Louis. Braylin Scott Spears-Sambo was the son of Brandon S. Sambo and Autumn R. Spears, both of Troy. They survive. Also surviving include grandparents, Rosemary and John Spears, of Foley and Diane and David Sambo, of Oakville. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Funeral services for Berry Albert Davis, 56, of Elsberry, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, officiated. Burial followed in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Elsberry. Mr. Davis, 56, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. Born May 16, 1951, in Louisiana, he was the son of Raymond Terry and Alberta Mae Skirvin Davis. He was a 1969 graduate of Elsberry High School in Elsberry. Davis was employed as a laborer at the White Rock Quarry near Elsberry. Survivors include one son, Barry Cobern Davis and his wife, Tasha Lynn, of St. Peters; two daughters, Paula Renee Davis, of St. Charles and Leighann Davis, of Elsberry; Mike Keeven, who was raised like a son in his home and five grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Travis Ellis, Mikey Bryan, Cheyenne Davis and Tyler Keeven. He also leaves his mother, Alberta Davis, of Elsberry; one brother, Terry Davis, and his wife, Rosemary, of Elsberry; special friend, Karen Keeven, of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other friends. Visitation was held from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family of Berry Davis in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth St., Elsberry, MO 63343.

James Stanley "Jimmy" Ferguson, 58, of Bellflower, died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy. Ferguson was born Dec. 24, 1948, in Indianapolis, IN to James Madison Ferguson and Mary Jane Gentry Ferguson. He married Diana Sue Hazelwood on April 25, 1967, in Indiana. Ferguson worked most of his life at the General Motors plant in Wentzville, as a spray painter. He was a member of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Middletown. He is survived by his wife, Diana Sue Hazelwood Ferguson, of Bellflower; three sons, James Howard Ferguson and wife, Margie, of Bellflower, Michael Allen Ferguson, of Bellflower and David Scott Ferguson and wife, Tina, of Montgomery City; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; five sisters and one brother, Sandy Tingle, Brenda Fox and husband, Steve, Donna Beck and husband, Jerry, Terry Wilson, Debbie Starling and husband, Joe, and Michael Kevin Ferguson; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City. The Rev. Susie Keithley officiated and interment followed in the Bellflower Cemetery in Bellflower. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions area suggested to the Neuropathy Association in care of Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, MO 63361.

Emmett P. Hoffmann Sr., 96, of Hawk Point, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab. He was born December 21, 1910, in St. Louis. He was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Fuhring Hoffmann who immigrated to the United States from Germany. He was married May 31, 1936, to Eva E. Monroe who preceded him in death on May 9, 1989. He was later remarried in April of 1993 to Genevieve Hackmann who survives. Hoffmann graduated from Jonesburg High School and attended Central Wesleyan Methodist College Warrenton and Truman State in Kirksville. He was a teacher for many years. He worked as a tool and dye maker at Binkley and McDonnell Douglas and sold farm machinery. He was the mayor of Hawk Point for many years. Hoffmann was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was active in fundraising for the church and singing in the choir. He was a coach and also umpired for the Hawk Point Khoury League. He was an avid bird hunter. He loved baseball and played on a semi-pro league for some time. He also enjoyed dancing, gardening and mostly being with his grandkids. He is survived by four children: Emmett Hoffmann Jr., of Hawk Point, Gary Hoffmann and wife, Julie, of Troy, Nick Hoffmann and wife, Helen, of Lake Sherwood and Gail Shepard and husband, Larry, of Truxton; one daughter-in-law, Patti Hoffmann of Troy, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Emmett was the last of eight boys. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home/Hawk Point Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial wias held on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Fr. Frank Koeninger officiated. Interment was held in Hawk Point City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hawk Point City Cemetery in care of Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 222, Troy, MO 63379.
