John T. "Jack" Davis

Jack David of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 6, 2000 at the age of 66 years.

Mr. David was born January 25, 1934 at Bourbon, Missouri to the late Wilford and Mildred Murphy David. On September 29, 1983 he was married to Elsie Nash at Branson, Missouri. He was employed as an auto mechanic the majority of his life and had lived the past 20 years in the Sullivan area. He enjoyed fishing in his free time and was a friend to all. It was said of him that he never knew a stranger.

He is survived by his wife Elsie David nee Nash of Sullivan, three sons, Thomas, John and Jackie David all of Sullivan, one daughter, Mildred Graham of Bourbon, two step-daughters, whom he loved as his own, Kathy Parker and Glenda Stroup both of Sullivan,15 other step-children, a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2000 in Bourbon Cemetery, with Pastor Gene Waterman officiating. Arrangements are under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Jane Reavis

Jane Reavis of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 3, 2000 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

Jane was born at Moody, Missouri to the late Ross and Doll (Brown) Atkinson. At the age of twelve she moved with her family to West Plains, Missouri, where she completed high school and later became a Dental Assistant. On August 19, 1953 Jane was married to Michael Reavis at Salem, Arkansas, and to this union two children were born. In 1967 Jane and Michael moved to Sullivan where Michael went to work with the Conservation Department and Jane joined the staff of Dr. Robert Rhoads as his Dental Assistant. Jane loved traveling and her pet cats. She was also a member of Mt. Calm Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Chris Reavis and wife, Maggie, of Sullivan; one daughter, Gay Telthorst and husband, Howard, of Sullivan; one brother, Jesse Fred Atkinson of West Plains, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda, Adrienne, and Michael; three special friends, Brenda Thomas, Barb Barbre, and Jackie Bell; other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Doctor Bart Hildreth officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.

Wade Allen Crimmins

Wade Allen Crimmins of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 30, 2000 at the age of 28 years.

Wade was born May 28, 1971 at Washington, Missouri to Frances Murray Crimmins Handing and the late Carl J. Crimmins. He was a life long resident of Sullivan and was a graduate of Sullivan High School. On September 16, 1995 he was married to Tracy Tipp at Sullivan. His vocation in life was that of an electrician in commercial construction. He was a member of the IBEW Local #1 of St. Louis. Wade was a strong willed person who had a personality to match. He was also a very giving person who did a lot for others. Wade enjoyed hunting and fishing and various other sports.

He is survived by his wife Tracy, his mother, Frances Handing of St. Louis, one brother, Thomas Crimmins and wife Bobbie of Sullivan, two sisters, Kim Beckett of Sullivan and Dana Crimmins of St. Louis, his grandmother Pauline Sidebottom of Sullivan, two step-sisters, Carrie and Corrie Price both of Sullivan, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 3, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Tracy Barnett officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery.

Curtis Paul, Jr.

Curtis Wayne Paul of Sullivan passed away Thursday, February 3, 2000 at the age of 40 years.

Mr. Paul was born on May 29, 1959 in Washington, Missouri to Curtis Woodrow and Evelyn (Doyle) Paul. He was raised in the Sullivan area, attended Sullivan High School, and lived his entire life in and around Sullivan. On July 13, 1976 he was united in marriage to Laura Price, and to this union two children were born. Curtis honorably served his country for nearly two years with the United States Army. He provided for his family by working as a machinery mechanic for such companies as Paramount Knit Headwear in Bourbon and Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Cuba. He took pleasure in deer hunting, Bible reading, and “just taking it easy.” Those who knew him best describe Curtis as loving, giving, supportive, and a man who was always there when others needed him. Being a baptized believer in Christ and a member of the Word of Life Worship Center, he was also known as a man of faith.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; one son, Jacob Paul of Sullivan; one daughter, Melanie Joslin and husband, Jeremy, of Bourbon; one grandson, Garrett Joslin; his parents, Curtis and Evelyn Paul of Bourbon; two brothers, Robert Paul, and Eric Paul and wife, Carrie, all of Bourbon; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2000 at the Word of Life Worship Center in Sullivan with Pastor Terry Palmer officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Curtis Paul was held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

June Larrison

Velva June Larrison of Sullivan passed away Monday, February 15, 2000 at the age of 73 years.

Mrs. Larrison was born on January 20, 1927 in Sullivan to the late Jesse and Golda (Troutt) Cash. She was raised in Sullivan and attended Sullivan High School. On November 22, 1945 she was united in holy matrimony to Joseph T. Larrison at the St. Louis Cathedral, and to this marriage three children were born. Shortly after their wedding, Joe and June opened “The Eagle’s Nest” restaurant in Sullivan, which was located on Main Street at the current location of the Western Auto store. Throughout her life June and Joe owned and operated numerous restaurants in Sullivan and the surrounding area. These included the Shell Café, the old Tri-County Restaurant, the restaurants at both Meramec Caverns and Onondaga Cave, and Dinah’s Dine-In. In addition to being a restaurateur, June faithfully served her family as a homemaker. Those who knew her best describe her as very loving, graceful, and a woman who was always there for those who needed her. June especially enjoyed dancing, sewing, and just being with her family. She was also a longtime member of St. Anthony Church of Sullivan.

She is survived by two sons, Joe Larrison and wife, Gwen, of Sullivan and Tim Larrison and wife, Melinda, of Washington, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Ryan and husband, Tom, of Sullivan; two brothers, Bud Cash and Bill Cash and wife, Connie, all of Sullivan; one sister, Betty Weeks and husband, Don, of Florissant, Missouri; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2000 at St. Anthony Church in Sullivan with Reverend Father Paul Telken officiating. Interment was in the St. Anthony Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. June Larrison was held from 4:30 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Elizabeth L. Cain

Elizabeth L. Cain of Sullivan, passed away Monday February 21, 2000 at the age of 74 years.

She is survived by her husband Wilbert of Sullivan, two daughters, Connie Plummer and husband Ed of Sayre, Oklahoma and Candice Johnston and husband James of Escondido, California, one brother, Fred Wirtz of St. James, Missouri, one sister, Catherine Thompson of McHenry, Illinois, five grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

It was the desire of Mrs. Cain that she be cremated and a memorial mass will be celebrated at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of the Eaton Funeral home of Sullivan.

Floyd Hollingshead

Floyd E. Hollingshead of Sullivan, passed away Wednesday, Feburary 23, 2000 at the age of 76 years.

Mr. Hollingshead was born on February 22, 1924 in Leasburg, Missouri to the late James William and Florence Osa Ann (Farrar) Hollingshead. He was raised in the Leasburg and Cuba area, and graduated from the Sullivan High School. On August 11, 1951 he was united in marriage to Udena M. Bryant in Cuba, Missouri. Floyd’s primary occupation throughout his life was that of an auto mechanic. Following high school he worked for approximately four years in the St. Louis area. He retired from Feese Chevrolet in Sullivan, where he was employed for seventeen years. Floyd enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, yard work, watching TV, but, most of all, found pleasure in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan, Sullivan Oddfellow Lodge #156, Sullivan Rebekah Lodge #319, the Cantons, and the Encampment.

He is survived by his wife Udena; two sons, Floyd Hollingshead, Jr. of Bourbon, Missouri and James Walter Hollingshead of Leasburg, Missouri; five daughters, Alice Diane Tropf and husband, Amel, of Champion, Nebraska, Jean Ann Lawrence and husband, Dan, of St. Louis, Missouri, Evelyn Sue Wiedeman and husband, Michael, of Sullivan, Theresa Lynn Ruble and husband, Roy, of Bourbon, and April Maria Caw and husband, Curtis, of Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers, James of Cuba, Pearl of Sullivan, and David and Charles Hollingshead, both of Springfield, Missouri; seven sisters, Margaret of Green Forest, Arkansas, Elise Hedrick of Madison, Wisconsin, Catherine Herbstreith of Pacific, Missouri, Lula Richardson and Betty Hilliard, both of Sullivan, Lillian Shomeke of Steelville, Missouri and Ruby Brew of Delta, Colorado; 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar, two sisters, Mary Sampson and Agnes Vinnige, and one grandson.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Jim Abel officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorials to the American Heart Association in memory of Mr. Floyd E. Hollingshead.

Shirley Jean McEuen

Shirley Jean McEuen of St. James, Missouri formerly of Sullivan, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2000 at the age of 54 years.

Shirley was born November 20, 1945 at Sullivan, Missouri to the late Homer and Nellie (Edwards) McEuen. She had made her home in the Sullivan area until the age of 14. She had lived in various parts of the state of Missouri until 8 years ago when she settled in St. James, Missouri. She was known as friendly and cheerful and didn’t allow her handicap to interfere with her many family and friends. Shirley actively participated in the Phelps County Events of the Handicapped and loved to dance and join in all of the activities and was fond of embroidering and bowling. She also was a participant in the Special Olympics in the softball throwing event.

One brother, William McEuen of Sullivan survives her, as do two sisters, Joyce Campbell of Bourbon and JoAnn DeClue of Sullivan, and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000 in Oddfellows Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan.

Wanda L. Sandberg

Wanda L. Sandberg of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 27, 2000 at the age of 77 years.

Wanda was born September17,1922 at Owensville, Missouri to the late Victor and Iva Gibson Chiles Buschmann. She graduated high school there and later attended Central Methodist University and Miss Hickeys Secretarial School. On October 15, 1943 she was married to Wilmer C. “Jack” Sandberg at Sullivan. She volunteered her time as a Pink Lady at the hospital and was a member of Sullivan Junior League. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Sullivan and was an active member of the Mariners. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and will long be remembered for her bubbling spirit and outgoing personality.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Sandy Sandberg of St. Louis, one daughter and son-in-law, Lindy and Dick Vidal of Rockford, Illinois, one brother, Bruces Buschmann of Mobile, Alabama, daughter-in-law Brenda Sandberg of Columbia, Missouri, 5 grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband and a son Jack.

Memorial funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Doug Madi officiating.

Elsie Smith

Elsie M. Smith of Sullivan passed away Friday, February 25, 2000 at the age of 93 years.

Mrs. Smith was born on October 20, 1906 to the late August and Lillie (Naugle) Schwidde in the Cuba, Missouri area, which is also where she was raised. On May 29, 1929 she was united in marriage to George Smith at Steelville, Misosuri, and to this marriage three children were born. Following their wedding, George and Elsie moved to Gary, Indiana and resided there for a few years. In 1932 they moved to the family farm in Bourbon. It was there that Elsie helped her husband with the farming responsibilities, and worked as a homemaker. She especially enjoyed gardening and canning. Those who knew her best describe her as a very “caring” woman whose life revolved around her family and her church. In her later years Elsie attended the Full Gospel Assembly of God in Sullivan.

She is survived by one son, Robert Smith and wife, Naomi, of Bourbon; two daughters, Lillie Ann McRaven of High Ridge, Missouri and Geraldine Strickland and husband, Claude, of Buffalo, Missouri; one brother, Charles Schwidde and wife, Gladys, of Farmington, Missouri; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Elsie was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Ora Schwidde.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2000 at the Full Gospel Assembly of God in Sullivan with Pastor Dale Graham officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan.
