Jerry Trusty

Gerald L. Trusty of St. Clair, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2001 at the age of 62 years.

Jerry, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on July 22, 1939 at St. Louis to Doris J. Franke Ruonavaara and the late Thomas Trusty. He was raised for a time in the St. Louis area and later came to St. Clair to make his home. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the military, he became employed with the Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri as an inspector. He retired after 32 years of employment and in his free time enjoyed traveling especially to Europe. Jerry was known as a generous individual and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by one son; Gary Cardinalli of St. Clair, 5 daughters; Starlene Bradburn of the state of Iowa, Carri Cardinalli of the state of California, Darlene Cardinalli of the state of Nevada, Bobbi Durrani of the state of Illinois and Tina Mackey of the state of Arkansas, his mother; Doris Ruonavaara of Sullivan, Missouri, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2001 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with interment the Rev. Theodore Brunnert officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. Visitation for Mr. Jerry Trusty was held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Cobern Falloon

Cobern A. Falloon of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at the age of 89 years.

Mr. Falloon was born on April 12, 1912 in Crawford County to William and Anna (Asplin) Falloon. He lived his entire life in the Sullivan area with the exception of two years in California. He was married to Dorothy Cunningham and was blest with 63 years of marriage. Cobern honorably served his country during W.W.II with the U.S. Army. He was a Medic and was in the invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach. Cobern earned three Bronze Stars, the W.W.II Veterans Recognition Award, D-Day Invasion of Europe Medal and the Jubilee of Liberty Medal. He was a member of V.F.W. Russell Schmidt Post 3789 of Sullivan. Mr. Falloon was a devoted member of First Assembly of God for over 60 years. He enjoyed reading the Bible and had read through it each year. Cobern was a wonderful Christian example and was a living testimony to all he met. He taught Sunday School for over 55 years and was a Deacon in the church for over 40 years. He loved gardening and farming and enjoyed the fruits of God’s Grace.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the family home, a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ronald Nye of Sullivan, two brothers, Gene and Lilburn Falloon , both of the state of California, three grandchildren, Todd Nye and wife Jennifer, Bryan Nye, and Dustin Nye and wife Karen, 7 great-grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Holden, Cobern, Ashton Grace, Parker and Paige Nye, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Five brothers, Maybern, Gene, Angus, Woodrow and Warren Falloon preceded Corbern in death as did four sisters, Garnet Falloon, Opal Bouse, Pearl Kerns and Jewel Swanson.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2001, from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Gary Oglesby officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the American Red Cross in the name of Cobern Falloon.

Dorothy Falloon

Dorothy G. Falloon of Sullivan, Missouri, wife of the late Cobern Falloon, and daughter of the late Harve and Ethel (Havener) Cunningham, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Falloon was born on September 29, 1916 at Gerald, Missouri until 1932 when she moved to Sullivan. ON March 19, 1938 she was married to Cobern Falloon at Bourbon, Missouri and to this union a daughter was born. Mrs. Falloon was a devoted wife and mother who always saw to the needs of her family. She would prepare wonderful meals for her family and friends. She was a dedicated worker for many years in the First Assembly of God kitchen for funeral dinners and banquets. Mrs. Falloon was a member of Assembly of God for over 60 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Nye and husband Ronald of Sullivan, one sister Etoluia Huitt and husband Harry of Sullivan, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cobern just four days previously, and one sister, Mildred Marks.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Gary Oglesby officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.

Vernon D. Scott

Vernon D. “Jim” Scott of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 4, 2002 at the age of 77 years.

Mr. Scott was born on January 24, 1924 in Algire, Missouri (rural Sullivan) to G. Thomas and Maude Myrtle (Northcutt) Scott, and remained a lifelong resident of the rural Sullivan area. “Jim,” as he was known by his family and friends, graduated from the Sullivan High School. On June 11, 1949 he was joined in marriage to Virginia Gilcrease at the First Baptist Church in Sullivan, and to their union one son and three daughters were born. In addition to running the family farm, “Jim” worked as a skilled laborer on road construction projects for several years. He also was employed by the Pea Ridge Iron Mines as a millwright for nearly twenty years. “Jim” enjoyed leathercrafts, traveling, family vacations, and especially raising cattle and working on the family farm. He was a faithful member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church, and will be remembered and cherished as a compassionate man who was devoted to his family, his friends, and his church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Scott of Sullivan; one son, James Thomas Scott and wife, Barbara, of Sullivan; three daughters, Verna Faye Mercille and husband, Charles, of Potosi, Missouri, Vicki Lynn McGraw and husband, Bruce, and Deborah Kay Hennecke and husband, Bob, all of Sullivan; three brothers, George Scott of Sullivan, Eugene Scott and wife, Marie, of Granite City, Illinois and John D. Scott and wife, Jane, of Sullivan; two sisters, Geraldine Harman of Sullivan and Bertha Rinehardt and husband, Robert, of Glencoe, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Ina Koch and husband, Forrest; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Daisy and Betty Scott, and two brothers-in-law, Raymond and Raymond T. Harman.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2002 from the Chapel of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Jeffrey W. Duncan officiating. Interment was in the Reynolds-Scott Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2002 at the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan. If desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Vernon D. Scott.

Henry Cartwright

Henry F. Cartwright of Bourbon, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at the age of 83 years.

Mr. Cartwright was born on February 17, 1918 in the Bourbon area to Royal and Dorthea (Kruse) Cartwright. He has remained a resident of the Bourbon and Leasburg area throughout his entire life. In 1942 Henry entered the United States Navy, and honorably served his country during World War II. On November 30, 1946 he was united in marriage to Ava Wymer at Bolivar, Missouri. He primarily worked throughout his adult years as a bricklayer and plasterer. Henry also enjoyed farming, especially his tractor, his truck, and his cows. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over fifty years. On November 30, 2001 Henry and Ava celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. He will be remembered and cherished as a quiet man who was honest and dependable.

He is survived by his wife, Ava Cartwright of Bourbon; two sons, Chester Cartwright and wife, Regina, of Perris, California and Clarence Cartwright and wife, Nancy, of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Clara Bills and husband, Don, of Fair Grove, Missouri; two brothers, Walter Cartwright and wife, Anita, of Sullivan, Missouri and Paul Cartwright and wife, Shirley, of Camdenton, Missouri; two sisters, Geraldine Mullen and husband, Oliver, of Sullivan and Emma Murphy and husband, Dale, of Bourbon; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cartwright was preceded in death by one brother, James Cartwright, and two sisters, Dorothea Mae Cartwright in infancy and Pauline Ramstein.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon with Reverend Walter Cartwright officiating. Interment was in Lea Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2001 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon. If desired, contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Bourbon in memory of Henry F. Cartwright. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Mable Beck

Mable E. Beck of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away at her home on Friday, December 14, 2001 at the age of 72 years.

Mrs. Beck was born o November 24, 1929 at Alfred, North Dakota to Jacob and Lydia (Pfiefle) Herrmann. She graduated from high school and soon after taught school there. She later moved to California where she was employed for a time with the McDonnell-Douglas Corporation and then transferred to the St. Louis Division. After ten years there she went to work at the Chrysler truck plant in Fenton. On March 22, 1969 she was married to Arthur Beck in St. Louis. Mable enjoyed a variety of activities which included fishing, bowling, crossword puzzles, cooking an baking.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur of the family home, two sons, Mark Beck of High Ridge, Missouri and Michael Beck of the state of Hawaii, one daughter, Sheila Masca of the state of Hawaii, two sisters, Esther Smith of Coon Rapids, Minnesota and Voneda Stiewe of Chimacum, Washington, 6 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, other relatives and friends. A sister, Lena Herrmann preceded her in death as did an infant granddaughter, Julia Leann Beck.

Funeral services, ending in cremation, were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2001 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Windle Starnes officiating.

Nora Campbell

Nora B. Campbell of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the age of 89 years.

Mrs. Campbell was born on May 5, 1912 in the Pea Ridge area near Sullivan to George Franklin and Emma Jane (Pope) Caldwell. Mrs. Campbell was educated at Sullivan High School, graduating with the class of 1929. She later received her teaching certificate from the teachers training college in Rolla. She taught several years at the Zion School in the Greens Branch area in rural Crawford County. On September 17, 1932 she was married to James Paul Campbell and to this union two children were born. Mrs. Campbell found pleasure in quilting and gardening and especially cooking for her family and friends. She was a devoted Christian and faithfully taught Sunday School for the Adult Ladies Class at Temple Baptist Church. She had also taught the Primary and Juniors Classes for many years. Mrs. Campbell was also a member of the W.M.U.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Daisy Campbell of Sullivan, one daughter, Lois Campbell of Sullivan, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild other relatives and friends. Preceding Mrs. Campbell in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, Oscar, Virgil and Marvin Caldwell and six sisters, Ethel Strause, Rilla Caldwell, Dorothy Wilson, Nellie Siebol, Goldie Houser and Hilda Howell.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 from Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastors G. Scott Perry and Bob Caldwell officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church in memory of Nora Campbell.

Olen Ridenhour

Olin Clifford “Jack” Ridenhour of Farmington, Missouri passed away at the Mineral Area Hospital in Farmington on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the age of 83 years.

Jack, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on June 3, 1918 at Gerald, Missouri to James Logan and Lenora (Strain) Ridenhour. He was raised in the Gerald area and had lived there until his marriage to Lillian Riske on August 16, 1941. Jack was employed in various vocations during his lifetime which included a propane gas business, heavy equipment operator, a poultry operation and a retirement home in Farmington. Jack found pleasure in hunting and fishing and especially gigging. He was a member of the Assembly of God and was a devoted Christian who loved his family and his God.

He is survived by his wife Lillian Ridenhour nee Riske of the family home, three daughters, Mitzi Heady and husband Dean of Jackson, Missouri, Janet McKay and husband Darrell of High Ridge, Missouri and Linda Ridenhour of Farmington, Missouri, one brother, Harold Ridenhour of the state of California, 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Arvil Ridenhour and a sister Elvie Hardecke Allen.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 from the First Assembly of God with Rev. Gary Allen officiating. Interment was in Schmidt Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funerla Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Marie Mercer

Marie Maggie Mercer of Sullivan, Missouri was born September 21, 1925 to Opal Callahan and William C. Bridgeman. She passed away Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the age of 76 years, two months and twenty five days.

Marie was a life long resident of Sullivan and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite past time was attending auctions and yard sales. She was a faithful and life long member of the Pea Ridge holiness Church of Sullivan, Missouri and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In May of 1940, she was united in marriage to John Thomas Mercer and to this union eleven children were born. She is survived by ten children, John Mercer, Jr. and wife Theresa of Sullivan, Carol Hebert and husband Norbert of Branson, Missouri, Bobby Mercer and wife Sarah of Sullivan, Missouri, Glenn Mercer of Owensville, Missouri, Wayner Mercer and wife Catherine of Sullivan, Missouri, Clifton Mercer of Sullivan, Missouri, Patricia Payne and husband Rick of Sullivan, Connie Baum and husband Harry of Kansas City, Missouri, Margaret Sappington and husband Doyle of Bourbon, Missouri, Ron Mercer and wife Michelle of Sullivan, 30 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, five sisters, Imogene Brown of Moline, Illinois, Velma Boyer and husband Andy of Sullivan, Helen Medders of Sullivan, Laura Studdard and husband Lawrence of Sullivan, Joyce Clonts and husband of England, Arkansas, one brother Roy Bridgeman, other relatives and friends. Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by one son, Leroy Mercer, two brothers, Jessie and Johnny Bridgeman and two sisters, Lorene and Mae Bridgeman.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December, 19, 2001 from Pea Ridge Holiness Church with Pastors Joe Gensler and Alfred Morgan officiating. Interment was in Reedville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
