Alfred Beldsoe

Alfred E. Bledsoe of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the age of 75 years.

Mr. Bledsoe was born May 31, 1926 at Sullivan, Missouri to Edward and Frieda (Smith) Bledsoe. He was raised on the family farm, which was located outside Sullivan on Highway AF. He honorably served his country during W.W.II with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was decorated with one Bronze Battle Star. Mr. Bledsoe was a farmer by trade and later supplemented his vocation as a plater at the former Ramsey Plant in Sullivan. On January 23, 1969 he was married to Nadine Jost at Sullivan who preceded him in death on September 29th, 2000. Mr. Bledsoe later became a resident at Sullivan Residential Care which became his second home. The excellent care and attention he received while living there made his last year a happy one for him.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Deann Berndt of Tampa, Florida, a step-grandson, Cole Berndt, many cousins, which include Freddie Bledsoe and wife, Myrl, of Sullivan, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2001 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in Cave Spring Cemetery.

Robert Wilkinson

Robert (Bob) Wilkinson of Napa Valley, California formerly of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Manteca, California, Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the age of 62 years.

Bob was born February 19, 1939 at Kansas City, Missouri to Roy and Margaret (Ellis) Wilkinson. Throughout his life he was employed at various cafés and restaurants, two of which were the former Shell and Mac’s Cafés. When he moved to California in the early 1980’s he continued to work in various restaurants and food related businesses.

He is survived by two brothers, George (Bennie) Wilkinson and wife Judy of Sullivan, William (Jerry) Wilkinson and wife Judy of St. Louis; three sisters, Mary Coleman and husband John of Arnold, Verna Bartel and husband Jim of Sullivan and Pat McMillian of Sullivan. Along with his parents, an older brother, Joseph L. Wilkinson, preceded Bob in death.

Private family services were conducted at 11:00a.m. January 5, 2002 in St. Anthony Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

James Hutchinson

James C. Hutchison of Bourbon, Missouri passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at the age of 41 years.

James was born in Artesia, California and was raised in various parts of the country due to his father’s military career. He came to Missouri around 20 years ago where he started a wood working shop. James later enrolled in college and attained an Associate of Arts Degree and had started work on his four-year degree. He was employed for a time at Maritz in their travel section but for the past two years had been an Assistant Special Education Instructor at Cuba Middle School. On February 13, 1994 he was married to Patricia Pfefferkorn at Bourbon, Missouri. James was known as an honest and direct individual and it was said that a person knew exactly where they stood with him.

He is survived by his wife Patricia of the family home; four sons, Joshua Hutchison of Bourbon, Missouri, Jacob Hutchison of Villa Ridge, Missouri, James Hutchison of St. Clair, Missouri, and Colin Hutchison of the family home; two daughters, Rebecca Hutchison of Londell, Missouri and Sarah Hutchison of the family home; his grandmother, Christine Green of Bourbon and one half brother, Mike Hutchison; one grandson, Devon Farris, other relatives and friends.

A gathering for family and friends was held on Friday evening, December 21, 2001 from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Cremation followed.

Judy Hoerath

Judy Kay Hoerath of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the age of 51 years.

She is survived by a brother, Bobby Jost of Potosi, Missouri and one sister, Vickie Sawyer of Camdenton, Missouri, a step-brother, Shelby Stalons of Fullerton, California, other relatives and friends.

In accordance to Mrs. Hoerath’s wishes, private memorial services will be conducted on the family farm near Potosi. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Bessie Weber

Bessie A. Weber of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2001 at the age of 97 years.

Mrs. Weber born on January 31, 1904 to William and Lillie (Woolsey) Halbert. She was raised in the Cherryville area near Steelville, Missouri and had lived on the family farm several years. Later in life, on May 17, 1925 she was married to Fred L. Weber at Steelville, Missouri and to this union a daughter was born. Mr. Weber passed away in 1965. Bessie was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church and had taught crafts at the church camp many years. She was also a seamstress in the Sullivan area and was well known for her sewing.

She is survived by her daughter Betty Nelson and husband James of Washington, Missouri, two grandchildren, Bill Nelson and wife Lisa, Julie Miller and husband Randy, six great-grandchildren, Nikki, Dustin and Dalton Nelson, Sara Slocum, Kelly and Alex Miller, other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2001 in Crow Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Bart Hildreth officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Gloria Jean Brooks

Gloria Jean Brooks of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2001 at the age of 58 years.

Gloria was born on September 28, 1945 to Angie Guidicini and the late Benjamin Piazza. She was raised in the Rosati, Missouri area and graduated from St. James High School in 1963. Gloria later attended Miss Hickeys Secretarial School. For a time, she worked in the offices of a Rolla Nursing Home. Gloria lived in various places in Missouri which included St. James, Jefferson City and finally Bourbon. On March 27, 1965 she was married to Ralph Edward Brooks at Rosati and to this marriage one daughter was born. In 1984, Gloria began working at Video World in Bourbon and then purchased the store in 1992 where she has since been self-employed. Gloria was a member of Saint Francis Parish of Bourbon and was known and a family orientated woman who was strong willed and self-determined.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Brooks of the family home, her mother, Angis Piazza of Rosati, Missouri, one sister, Patricia Hughes of Rosati, one grandson, Joshua Henderson, of the family home, other relatives and many special friends. Her daughter Sheryl Henderson, son-in-law, Timothy and granddaughter Ashton preceded Gloria in death as did her father Benjamin Piazza.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2001 from Saint Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon with the Rev. Father Donald Carey officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Eddy Manion

Eddy J. Manion of Rosebud, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2001 at the age of 39 years.

Eddy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 27, 1962 to Norval M. Manion and Ruth Ann Mitchell Williams. He had lived his entire life in the Sullivan area and was a graduate of Sullivan High School. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator, building roads and shopping centers. Eddy was first trained at K.R. Wilson and later worked for Millstone-Bangert Construction Company. He was mechanically inclined and could fix almost anything. His dream however, was farming. Eddy had purchased property in the Rosebud area and farmed, raising cattle and various crops. He was at home and at peace on his farm and found great pleasure in attaining his dream. Eddy also enjoyed pheasant hunting and was also a member of the N.R.A. Working with Millstone-Bangert Construction Company, Eddy was also a member of Equipment Operators Local 513.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Williams of Sullivan, his father, Norval Manion of Sullivan, one brother, Bill Manion of Sullivan, his maternal grandmother, Ava Mitchell, a niece Kari Manion, his step-father Mel Williams of Sullivan, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2001 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Interment was in Schmidt Cemetery.

Majel Siebert

Majel L. Siebert of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2001 at the age of 82 years.

Mrs. Siebert was born on April 18,1919 in Rosamond, Illinois to Harry Vernon and Ella Nora (Kimball) Slayback. As a young girl, she moved to St. Louis. On August 31, 1940 she was united in marriage to Melvin R. Siebert at St. Pius Church in St. Louis. In addition to serving her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Majel worked as a medical secretary for doctors and health care facilities for over fifteen years. She had a reputation of being a great cook, but also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Majel was a member of a Congregationalist church in Illinois. She will be remembered and cherished as a very determined woman whose life revolved around her family.

She is survived by one son, Robert Siebert and wife, Donna, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Ann Lea Kuhn of Sullivan; three sisters, Aldene Drury of Florissant, Missouri, Betty Cawthen of Springfield, Illinois, Phyllis Slayback of Houston, Texas, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Dena Slayback of Pana, Illinois, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Siebert was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Gene Slayback.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2001 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Sunset Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Visitation was from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2001 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. If desired, contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation in memory of Majel L. Siebert.

Sybil Simmons

Sybil R. Simmons of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Friday, December 28, 2001 at Meramec Nursing Center, Sullivan, Missouri the age of 82 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Mrs. Simmons was born June 17, 1919 to Richard Norton and Madge Martin Whiteside Allen in the countryside of Sullivan, Missouri. In December of 1938 Sybil was married to Albert Simmons, two which three daughters were born. In her earlier years, she was employed by International Shoe Company in their fitting room department, at Pacco where she was a machine operator, at the City of Sullivan Police Department where she was a telephone and radio dispatcher and Sullivan Municipal Airport where she and her husband serviced the airplanes, pilots and travelers. As a young woman, she was an active member of Sullivan Rebekah Lodge 319, Order of Eastern Star Sullivan Chapter 105 and a volunteer Pink Lady in the Missouri Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. Sybil professed her faith in Jesus as Christ at the age of 46 and was baptized into fellowship at First Baptist Church in Sullivan, Missouri on September 5, 1965 where she had remained a member since that time. She was known as a great cook, an avid reader, enjoyed music and movies and kept her hands busy with knitting, crocheting, embroidering and crafts of all kinds. She was a people person and loved having friends and family together. Her lovely smile, good nature and enthusiasm for life will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by three daughters; Carol Immekus and husband Gene of Sullivan, Missouri, Ruth Ann Antle and husband Don of Waxahachie, Texas and Nancy Battles and husband Manual of Mesquite, Texas; one brother, Pete and wife Alta Mae of Vandalia, Missouri; three sisters, Norma Clark of Salt Lake City, Utah, Marion Armistead of St. Louis, Missouri and Carol Johnson and husband George of Vandalia, Missouri; six grandchildren, Debbie Durham and husband Gary, Kelly Watson and husband Curt, Christine Smith and husband Tony, Darren Antle and wife Christy, James Simmons and wife Carmen, and Terrie Elaine Lawson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her husband Albert, her parents, Richard and Madge Allen; brothers, Richard, Buck and Sonny, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, preceded Sybil in death.

Memorial Services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2001 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Paul Gray officiating. A gathering of family and friends was held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
