James T. Miller

James T. Miller of St. Clair, Missouri passed away on December 5, 2000 at the age of 30 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Miller of Union, Missouri; his parents, Charlie and Darlene Miller of St. Clair; two brothers, Ron Miller and wife, Debbie, of Huntington, Maryland and Gary Miller and wife, Karen, of Wentzville, Missouri; a special friend, Jeannene Gilbreath and her daughter, Jessica, of St. Clair; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in the Bourbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2000 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. If desired, contributions may be made to Canaan Land Ministries in memory of James T. Miller.

Jean Nolie

Jean Nolie of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2000 at the age of 80 years.

Jean was born on March 30, 1920 at Elmont, Missouri to the late William and Ada (Eoff) Halmick. She was raised in the Sullivan area, and continued to live in Sullivan throughout her entire life. As a young woman, she went to work at the International Shoe Company in Sullivan, and remained a faithful employee there for nearly fifteen years. On October 12, 1940 Jean was joined in marriage to Joseph H. Nolie at Potosi, Missouri, and to their union two children were born. Her primary work throughout her adult years was serving her family as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and gardening, but especially found pleasure in quilting. Jean was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, and also a member of the Rebekah Lodge – Sullivan Chapter #319. She will always be cherished and remembered as an extremely caring and loving person.

She is survived by two sons, Russell Nolie of Washington, Missouri and Randy Nolie and wife, Janene, of Sullivan; two sisters, Nancy Halmick of Sullivan and Juanita Eggler of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, on January 16, 1992, and also by five brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2000 from Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Reverend Father Theodore Brunnert officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Rebekah Lodge – Sullivan Chapter #319 in memory of Jean Nolie.

Lena B. Tourville

Lena B. Tourville of Sullivan, passed away Tuesday at the age of 94 years.

She is survived by three sons: Robert Tourville of Sullivan, Missouri, Harold Tourville and wife Jean of Crestwood, Missouri and Ray Tourville and wife Marlene of Barrington, Illinois, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from the First Baptist Church in Sullivan with interment in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Lena Tourville will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sullivan. Those who desire may make memorials to the American Heart Association.

Ervin Schollmeyer

Ervin L. Schollmeyer of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 10, 2000 at the age of 89 years.

Mr. Schollmeyer was born May 6, 1911 at Morrison, Missouri to the late Frank and Clara (Boss) Schollmeyer. He was raised in the Morrison area and schooled in Hermann, Missouri later graduating high school from there. He was employed for a time with Peveley Dairy as a maintenance man. Ervin later became employed with the City of St. Louis in the Water Department as a Stationary Engineer. He retired from there after 40 years of service in 1980. On September 3, 1938 he was married to Lois Johanning at St. Louis and to this marriage a son was born. They came to Sullivan in July of 1995 to make their home. Mr. Schollmeyer was a member of Euclid Masonic Lodge and Champion City Methodist Church.

His wife Lois, one brother, Edward Schollmeyer of Arnold, Missouri one sister, Alice Mantia of Florrisant, Missouri, other relatives and many friends, survives him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2000 from the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Leonard Krudop officiating. Interment will be in Champion City Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Ervin Schollmeyer will be from 4:30 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Hassebroek’s in Sullivan.

James Henry Parker

James Henry Parker of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Monday at the age of 70 years.

Mr. Parker was born July 10, 1930 at Berryman, Missouri to the late Van and Hazel (Burns) Parker. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and was employed several years as an auto mechanic under Ben Strothcamp.

On January 28, 1949 he was married to Betty Cross at Sullivan and to this marriage three children were born. Mr. Parker found pleasure in hunting and working on cars. He was a member of Meramec valley Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Sullivan, two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Toni Parker of Bourbon, Missouri and Carl and Sandy Parker of Sullivan, one daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Ron Jeter of Springfield, Illinois, two brothers, Charles Parker of the State of Arkansas and Donald Parker of Sullivan, three sisters, Opal Hammonds of Union, Missouri, Evelyn Skorcz of the State of Arkansas and Betty Buchanon of Union, Missouri, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a brother Ray and by two granddaughters.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2000 from the Meramec Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Williams officiating. Interment will be in Cave Spring Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. James Henry Parker will be from 4:30 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and from 9 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meramec Valley Baptist Church in Sullivan.

Gertrude S. Mueller

Gertrude S. Mueller of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at the age of 94 years.

On July 3, 1906 Mrs. Mueller was born on the family farm near Sullivan, Missouri to the late Fred and Edith Louise (Schuler) Schatz. She was a life-long resident of Sullivan and was employed many years at the former Ramsey Corporation as an Assembler. She was formerly married to John H. Mueller. Mrs. Mueller was known as a woman of independent means and solitary life style.

Her brother, Andrew Schatz of St. Louis, Missouri, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends survive her. Two sisters, Delores Schatz and Hattie Huff preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation for Gertrude S. Mueller will be from 4:30 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2000 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Catherine L. London

Catherine L. London of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Monday, December 18, 2000 at the age of 92 years.

Mrs. London was born October 18, 1908 at West Plains, Missouri to the late John William and Ida Louise (Bales) Nicks. On April 10, 1942 she was married to John P. London at Joplin, Missouri. For a time she and John made their home in Bourbon and in 1950 came to Sullivan to make their home. Catherine was employed as an office clerk for several years. She attended Temple Baptist Church faithfully and had a quiet disposition and loving personality.

She is survived by one sister, Ruth Hunt of Caulfield, Missouri, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her husband, John, preceded her in death in July of 1993.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Doe Run Memorial Cemetery, Doe Run, Missouri. Visitation For Mrs. Catherine London will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Those who desire may make memorials to Temple Baptist Church in memory of Catherine London.

Eddie Gene Busch

Eddie Gene Busch of Sullivan, passed away Monday, December 18, 2000 at the age of 68 years.

Mr. Busch was born June 15, 1932 at Sullivan, Missouri to the late Clarence and Vera (Binsbacher) Busch. He was a life-long resident of Sullivan and a 1050 graduate of Sullivan High School. He honorably served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army having attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Busch was awarded a Bronze Star and ROK Presidential Unit Citation for his valor in action. On June 16, 1956 he was married to Carole King at Herdandos, Mississippi and to this marriage three sons were born. Mr. Busch had owned and operated Eddie’s Snack Bar from 1957 to 1971 which was a familiar Sullivan landmark located on Elmont Road. Eddie later became a supervisor at the Sheltered Industries of the Meramec Valley in Sullivan and held this position until his death. Mr. Busch was a member of Russell Schmidt V.F.W. Post 3987 of Sullivan

He is survived by his wife Carole of Sullivan, three sons; Jeff Busch and wife Cathy of Sullivan, Kelly Busch and wife Tamer of Tabernacle, New Jersey and Eric Busch of Sullivan, one brother; Leo Busch of Apache Junction, Arizona; three grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Along with this parents, a brother, Bill Busch preceded Eddie in death.

In accordance to his wishes, Mr. Busch was cremated. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held from 2 until 4 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the V.F.W. Hall in Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheltered Industries of the Meramec Valley in the name of Eddie Gene Busch. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Roy L. Spaid

Roy L. Spaid of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Monday, December 18, 2000 at the age of 90 years.

Mr. Spaid was born on September 15, 1910 in Carrier, Oklahoma to the late Frank and Jessie (Sheldon) Spaid. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Grand Junction, Colorado. After living there for a few years, he moved to Steelville, Missouri, and eventually to Sullivan in 1927. Roy enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 and honorably served his country during World War II, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 526th Military Police Escort Guard Company. In 1944 he was united in marriage to Harriet Kahn in New York. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945, Roy went to work for the Muszak Company in New York as a salesman and installer of commercial music systems. He remained their dedicated employee until 1975, when he retired and moved to Florida. In 1980 Roy’s wife, Harriet, preceded him in death. Then, in 1982 Roy married Charlotte Smith, who also preceded him in death in 1994. He later returned from Florida to Sullivan in March 1999. Roy was an accomplished musician and singer, who found great pleasure in playing the guitar, harmonica, accordion, and French harp. He also enjoyed travel cruises and good food. Roy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pompano Beach, Florida, and, while living in Sullivan, attended the Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan. He will long be remembered as a fun-loving gentleman who was well liked and greatly respected.

He is survived by four sisters, Mary Tourville, Esther Tourville, and Virginia Strothcamp, all of Sullivan, and Doris Saucier of Jefferson City, Missouri; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to those previously mentioned, Mr. Spaid was preceded in death by four brothers-in-law, Bert Tourville, Art Tourville, Don Saucier, and Ben Strothcamp.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 from the Chapel of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Robert Tourville officiating. Entombment was in the Boca Raton Mausoleum, Boca Raton, Florida. If desired, contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan in memory of Mr. Roy L. Spaid.
