Mrs. Barrett was a graduate of Perry High School in 1936 and subsequently received her teaching certificate from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. Ruth was well-known and loved by many in the  Jefferson City area because of her tireless efforts as Docent Chair for the Cole County Historical Society, volunteer at The Special Learning Center, Regent for the Hardin Camp Chapter of DAR, member of the PEO Sisterhood, and member of Morning Music Club. She was a special friend to the very young and the elderly. A memorial service and urn placement will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., at a future date.
