(February 9, 1931 - November 1, 2014)
Funeral services for Elmo Branch of Duck Hill will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, at Duck Hill Baptist Church in Duck Hill, with burial following in Duck Hill cemetery. Rev. Tim Buchanan will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at Duck Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Branch, 83, died of respiratory failure at his residence on Saturday, November 1.
He was born icon in Duck HIll on February 9, 1931, to the late Elmo and Katherine Walker Branch. He was a 1949 graduate of Binford High School and a 1953 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he played basketball and ran track and was later inducted into the MSU Sports Hall of Fame. He was the retired office manager for Lancaster, Inc. Mr. Branch was a member, deacon, choir director, and Sunday School teacher at Duck Hill Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Duck Hill Lions Club and served as Montgomery County School Board president for 16 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. In addition to his parentes, Mr. Branch was preceded in death by his brother, Don R. Branch.
Mr. Branch is survived by his wife, Jamie Garnett Branch of Duck HIll; two daughters, Mellannie Adams (Larry) of Greenville and Polly Pund (Brian) of Tupelo; one son, Mo Branch (Cindy) of Madison; sister-in-law, Anne Branch of Jackson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Duck Hill Baptist Church, and honorary pallbearers will be members of John Bennett's Sunday School Class.

Infant Zebediah Davidson Jolly
(November 27, 2015)
Graveside services for infant Zebediah Davidson Jolly will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, at Scotland Baptist Church cemetery near Winona, with Dr. Tim Mims officiating.
Zebediah is survived by his parents, Daniel and Laura Carpenter Jolly of New Albany; grandparents, James and Lulu Ferguson of Winona, Paul and Jane Jolly of Water Valley, Lydia and Phillip Cook of Grenada; and great-grandmother, Christine Jolly of Grenada. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roger Carpenter.

Jo Ann Walker Swindle
(April 24, 2016)
Jo Ann Walker Swindle of Carrollton passed away at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson on Sunday, April 24. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home, with a graveside service following at Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Brad Hodges and Rev. Glenn Seefeld will officiate the services.
Mrs. Swindle was a retired special services technician with Bellsouth and a member of Valley Hill Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Claudia Shewmake and James Thomas Walker; and a brother, Jimmy Walker.
Mrs. Swindle is survived by her husband, William Swindle of Carrollton; daughters, Barbara (Mike) Hall of Phillipston, Sandra Barry of Carrollton, Brenda Lehman of Carrollton; sons, William Swindle Jr. of Carrollton and Allen Swindle (Renah) of Carrollton; seven grandsons; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Swindle's grandsons, Scott Baker, Jason Barry, Chris Hall, Tyler Hall, Ben Swindle, Ryan Swindle, and Jonathan Twitchell.

Thurman L. Box
(August 11, 1951 - August 29, 2016)
Funeral services for Thurman L. Box of Duck Hill will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Wood Springs cemetery in Choctaw County. Bro. Jesse Strider will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 31, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Box, 65, died at his home on Monday, August 29. He was born icon in Choctaw County on August 11, 1951, to Melvin and Naomi Edwards Box. He was a contractor and attended the Winona Church of God. He enjoyed music and was a talented musician who could play almost any instrument. He also loved coaching summer league baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Box is survived by his wife, Carol Box of Duck Hill; daughter, Christy Box Singleton of Brandon; sons, Lamar Box of Austin, Texas, and Clifton Box of Brandon; sisters, Fran Box Mendoza of Grenada and Thalia Box Neal of Brandon; brother, Robert Box of Grenada; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Green, Daniel Hill, Chris Marter, Will Sullivan, Justin Timbs, and Jason Timbs.

Avis Yvonne Vance Shivel
(March 10, 1941 - February 9, 2008)
Funeral services for Avis Yvonne Vance Shivel are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, at First Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. John L. Walker, Rev. T. R. Darsey, and Dr. Phillip Dancy will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Monday, February 11, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona. Mrs. Shivel died of cancer on Saturday, February 9, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 66.
Mrs. Shivel was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Barney Vance.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jon Carter Shivel. Mrs. Shivel was a disabled cosmetologist and a former mayor of Winona. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
Suvivors include her son, Shannon Day Shivel of Mantee; sister, Geraldine Vance Cartledge of Birmingham, Alabama; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Tom Dulin, Harry Neal, Clyatt Strickland, James Earl Oliver, Dr. John Perry, and Warren Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are Ledell Chambley, Jerry Chamble, Benny Chambley, and Jimmy Chambley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 408, Winona, MS 38967.

Regena Bodry McCain
(October 14, 1945 - April 7, 2008)
Funeral services for Regena Bodry McCain of Winona are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with interment to follow in Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Henderson Rasberry will officiate the services. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. McCain died of cancer on Monday, April 7, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 62 years old.
Mrs. McCain was a retired employee of the Winona Public Schools and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon "Jack" McCain; daughter, Stacie Jones; and father, Marion Bodry.
Survivors include two daughters, Renee Scales of Madison and Carla Ketchum of Collierville, Tennessee; one son, Barry McCain of Port Gibson; mother, Ouida Bodry of Vaiden; two brothers, Lamar Bodry of Dover, Tennessee, and Stanley Bodry of Durant; five grandchildren, Justen and Olivia Ketchum of Collierville, Tennessee; Sarah Elizabeth Scales of Madison; Hannah and Marian Jones of Kosciusko; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jeff Rodgers, Jeffery Welch, Eric Ferguson, Freddie Garrott, Roy Ketchum, and Mike Scales.

Kathleen Parker Sullivan
(June 9, 1915 - June 5, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Kathleen Parker Sullivan of Decatur, Alabama, formerly of Winona, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery. Rev. T. R. Darsey will officiate the service. Visitation will be Saturday, from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sullivan died at her residence on Thursday, June 5. She was 92.
Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Sullivan.
She was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona.
Survivors include her son, O'Keefe Sullivan of Decatur, Alabama; sister, Gwendolyn Bounds of West Point; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rhonda Allen Hunt
(May 24, 1965 - July 14, 2008)
Funeral services for Rhonda Allen Hunt of Winona are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, at Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael, with Rev. Gary Jackson officiating, assisted by Rev. T. R. Darsey. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hunt died of cancer on Monday, July 14, at Kilmichael Hospital in Kilmichael. She was 43 years old.
Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker and a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Sam Garrard, Myrtis Mims Garrard, Sam Allen, Lavenia Mae Allen; and an uncle, Eugene (Sylvester) Garrard.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Hunt of Winona; two daughters, Ashly Hunt Eldridge and her husband, Clay, of Kilmichael, and Nikki Hunt of Winona; one son, Michael Hunt and his wife, Emily, of Winona; her mother, Anita Walters of Winona; her father, Charles R. Allen of Ecru; one sister, Karen Sistrunk of Sebastopol; one brother, Charles Allen of Winona; six nieces; and twelve nephews.
Pallbearers are Trey Garrard, Brad Garrard, Gary Garrard Jr., John S. Garrard, Davie Howard, and Greg Howard. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Polston and Daniel Patterson.

James Leroy Mills
(February 2, 1927 - November 30, 2010)
Funeral services for James Leroy Mills of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona, with Rev. Larry Creel and Rev. Randy Owen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Hope cemetery, with Rev. John L. Walker and Rev. Terry Corley officiating at graveside.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., at New Hope United Methodist Church.
Mr. Mills died of heart failure at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. He was 83 years old.
James Leroy Mills was born icon February 2, 1927, in Minter City to the late Bennie Bradford (Mack) Mills and Estelle Sims Mills of the Eskridge Community. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 18, and served in Japan and Germany during World War II and in the Korean War. He was later stationed at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, while in the National Guard. He retired as a First Sergeant after serving twenty-three years in the Army.
Mr. Mills was co-owner with Mrs. Mildred Fondren of the Mills and Fondren Oil Company in Winona, serving Montgomery and Carroll Counties for over fifty years. The Economic Development Partnership presented Mr. Mills and Mrs. Fondren with the George Harris Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 for their contributions to Montgomery County. Mr. Mills was also an avid quail hunter.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Annette Johnson Mills; two daughters, Janet M. Hudson and Beverly M. Nesbitt, both of Winona; sons-in-law, Jerry D. Hudson and Todd Nesbitt, also of Winona; grandchildren, Mark Hudson and his wife, Jackie, of Starkville, Taylor Nesbitt and Lori Nesbitt, both of Winona; four sisters, Florine Hines of Albermarle, NC, Peggy Sullivan of Raleigh, Maxine McCorkle of Vaiden, and Pam Self of Carthage; four brothers, Neal Mills of La Porte, TX, Thomas Mills of Winona, Marvin Mills of Buffalo, TX, and Jimmy Mills of Winona; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Estelle Mills; and two brothers, Billy Mills and Doug Mills.
Leroy was a beloved and faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church and served as a Trustee and Chairman of the Administrative Board. He always put God first and never missed a day reading his Bible. He loved and respected his family, friends, servicemen, and church family. Mr. Mills will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Bank of Winona, P. O. Box 231, Winona, MS 38967.

Howard Paul Collins, Jr.
(March 31, 1948 - July 30, 2011)
Funeral services for Howard Paul Collins, Jr., of Greenwood will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Scotland Baptist Church cemetery in Winona. Rev. Bennie Vance and Rev. Dennis McKay will officiate the services.
Visitation will be on Monday, from noon until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Collins died of heart failure at Crystal Health and Rehab in Greenwood on Saturday, July 30. He was 63 years old.
Mr. Collins was the son of the late Howard Paul and Clara Belle Weed Collins.
He was an Associate Certified Entomologist and worked in the pest control industry for 39 years. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church in Grenada.
Survivors include his wife Susan Collins of Greenwood; one son, Steven McBride of Olive Branch; two sisters, Linda Jones of Greenwood and Elizabeth Collins of Greenwood; one brother, Danny Collins of Greenwood; two nephews, Brian Phillips of Greenwood and Michael Phillips of Tupelo; and one great-nephew, Justin Phillips of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Allen Weed, Dale Stafford, Ed Stafford, Frank Weed, Duane Weed, and Brian Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Collins, Bud Jones, and Sonny Oldham.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Sadie Finklea Atkinson
November 8, 1941 - March 9, 2013)
Funeral services for Sadie Finklea Atkinson of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Rusty Keen will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Monday, March 11, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Atkinson died of cancer at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Saturday, March 9.
She was 71 years old.
Mrs. Atkinson was the daughter of the late Clyde and Hooper Marie McGinvey Finklea and grew up in Kosciusko. She was a 1963 graduate of Mississippi College and worked at Lawrence Printing Company in Greenwood for 34 years. She was an active member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served on the Kitchen Guild and was chairman of the Worship Committee for several years. She was also a member of the Winona Garden Club and the Friends of the Library. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Finklea.
Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Atkinson of Winona; daughter, Michelle Mason (Bobby) of Schlater; son, Scott Atkinson (Lisa) of Hot Springs, AR; five grandchildren, Mary Hooper Mason, Christina Mason, Hannah Atkinson, Haley Atkinson, and Cody Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hatley, Bert Mitchell, George Harris Jr., Stan Gilbert, Mike Peeples, and Danny Fielder.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Moore Memorial United Methodist Church Family Life Center Building Fund.
