Barbara Ann Hambrick Braswell
(November 13, 1945 - October 27, 2014)
A memorial service for Barbara Ann Hambrick Braswell of Vaiden will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, at Vaiden Baptist Church in Vaiden, with Rev. Dean Stewart officiating.
Mrs. Braswell, 68, died of heart failure at her home on Monday, October 27. She was born icon on November 13, 1945, to the late Hubert Smith and Bennie Louise Gant Hambrick. She was a retired nurse and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church near Vaiden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Braswell.
Mrs. Braswell is survived by her children, Tracie Turbeville (Bobby) of Vaiden, Pam Shirley (Jerry) of Vaiden, and Chad Summers (Peyton) of Boyle; her sister, Mary L. Hambrick of Vaiden; her brothers, Butch Hambrick (Linda) of Vaiden and Billy Hambrick (Diane) of Vaiden; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Claude F. Pullen
(January 17, 1934 - November 18, 2015)
Claude Pullen, 81, of Memphis, Tennessee, died of cancer at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Wednesday, November 18. Mr. Pullen was born icon in Lodi, MS, on January 17, 1934. He was a retired accountant and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Gideons, the Masons, the Shriners, and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ladell Pullen and Sara Bessie Fendley Woo.
Mr. Pullen is survived by his wife, Mary Chesteen Pullen of Memphis, TN; five daughters, Sara Frances Pullen of Anchorage, AK, Debbie L. Taft of Anchorage, AK, Terrie A. McNabb of Memphis, TN, Patti Collins of Colorado Springs, CO, and Claudia Woods of Memphis, TN; three sons, Claude F. Pullen Jr. of Memphis, TN, Peter Pullen of Brighton, TN, and Paul Pullen of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Winona, with Rev. William Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

George Holmes Curtis
(April 17, 1919 - August 27, 2016)
Funeral services for Mr. George Holmes Curtis of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Robbie Murden will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center.
Mr. Curtis, 97, died at Winona Manor in Winona on Saturday, August 27. He was born icon in French Camp on April 17, 1919, to Clifton Smith and Eva Holmes Curtis. He was a retired farmer and cattleman and a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, where he served on the Administrative Board and as a Trustee, and was a longtime member of the Mildred Fondren Sunday School class.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Curtis served as Montgomery County Soil Conservation Service Commissioner for 42 years and was a former board member and board president of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, where he was selected as Cattleman of the Year for Montgomery, Carroll, and Leflore Counties.
Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife, Lois Curtis of Winona; daughter, Carolyn Bowles (Jack) of Winona; son, Clifton Curtis (Cathy) of Starkville; sister, Nell Curtis of Huntsville, Alabama; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Mark Curtis, Christopher Curtis, Bradley Curtis, Bobby Henry, Dell Simpson, and Chris Herring.
Contributions in Mr. Curtis' memory may be made to Moore Memorial United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 467, Winona, MS 38967.

Marty Martin
(January 20, 1966 - February 8, 2008)
Funeral services for Milton Eugene Martin, Jr., 42, of McCarley, who died at his home on Friday, February 8, will be held Wednesday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m., at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Rev. Leon Holly and Rev. Rusty Fair will officiate. Burial will be at Mission cemetery in Winona immediately following the service.
Known to his family and friends as Marty, Mr. Martin was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Richland, where he sang in the choir and often provided the special music of the service.
Marty is survived by his parents, Milton and Geneva Martin of McCarley; a sister, Cindy Martin of McCarley; and four children, KaLeigh, 19, Stephen, 18, Christian, 6, and Hunter, 3. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Jessie Hall of Sidon; and Mayford and Dewey Martin of McCarley.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hall, Jerry Hall, Chuck Hays, John Retherford Jr., Chris Hall, and Pat Ervin.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Winona Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 602 Alberta Drive, Winona, MS 38967.

Cecil E. Taylor
(March 5, 1941 - April 1, 2008)
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Cecil E. Taylor of McCarley are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at Duck Hill cemetery in Duck Hill, with burial following. Rev. T. R. Darsey and Rev. Rupert Ingram will officiate the services. Visitation will be Friday, April 4, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Saturday, April 5, from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor died on Tuesday, April 1, in Grenada. He was 67 years old.
Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Taylor, and a retired logger. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rachael Medders Carter, and one sister, Judy Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Taylor of McCarley; two daughters, Kim Ellett of Grenada and Theresa Procella of Grenada; three sons, Glenn Rawson of Duck Hill, Edwin Taylor of Duck Hill, and Donald Taylor of Duck Hill; two stepdaughters, Judith Eldridge of Duck Hill and Elizabeth Hayward of Poplar Creek; two stepsons, David Hayward of Duck Hill and Cooper Hayward of Duck Hill; five sisters, Dorothy Simpson of Scobey, Helen Buckley of Elliott, Nancy Sossaman of Coffeeville, Beatrice Johnson of Mathiston, and Betty Frances Englebert of Kilmichael; two brothers, Curtis Taylor of Duck Hill and Wayne Taylor of Duck Hill; eighteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bo Morgan, Mike Carpenter, Cotton Marter, Bubba Bussey, Larry Vance, and George Henson. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Taylor, Garry Franklin, and Burnell Taylor.

Col. Joe D. Willingham
(July 5, 1952 - May 19, 2008)
Funeral services for Col. Joe D. Willingham of Winona are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, at First Baptist Church in Winona, with interment following in Poplar Springs cemetery near Kilmichael, with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Winona.
Col. Willingham died of heart failure on Monday, May 19, 2008, at Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada. He was 55.
Col. Willingham was the executive officer and commander of the U.S. Army National Guard 631st Field Artillery in Grenada. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona. He was preceded in death by his father, John Estel Willingham.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Anglin Willingham of Winona; daughters, Nicole Elaine Willingham Looney and her husband, Jackson, of Montgomery, Alabama, and Natalie Willingham Tessier and her husband, Paul, of Cypress, California; mother, Hattie Laverne Willingham of Karnes City, Texas; sisters, Jan Pawelek of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeri Sauceda of Karnes City, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A military honor guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Bourne, Dr. Jan Bailey, Vince Saia, Al Baker, Jack Evans, Dennis Kelly, and James "Bubba" Bond.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 408, Winona, MS 38967; the American Heart Association; or the American Cancer Society.

Larry Cummings
(March 28, 1966 - August 21, 2010)
Funeral services for Larry Cummings of French Camp will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Williams Springs cemetery near Stewart. Rev. John Lumbley will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Monday, August 23, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home
Mr. Cummings died of pneumonia on Saturday, August 21, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was 44 years old.
Mr. Cummings was the son of the late Shirley and Grace Vaughn Cummings. He was a logger and a member of Union Baptist Church in Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Cummings.
Survivors include a sister, Evelyn Dean of Stewart; a brother, Randy Cummings of Weir; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Toby Gillon, Joey Green, Jason Clement, Randy Mitchell, Billy Cummings, and Keith Parkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie Forbes and Carl Bright.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332. N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38104.

Thelma "Mollie" Tucker
(January 31, 1931 - December 16, 2010)
Funeral services for Thelma "Mollie" Tucker of Grenada, formerly of Kilmichael, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in the Hebron Baptist Church cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. James Melton and Mr. Dan Beardain will officiate the services.
A visitation will be held at Oliver Funeral Home on Saturday, December 18, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Tucker died of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Thursday, December 16, 2010. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Tucker was the daughter of the late Earl and Nancy Gooden Palmertee, and the widow of the late K. P. Tucker, Jr. She was a retired certified nurse's assistant, having worked at Winona Manor for 21 years.
She was a member of Bethany Church of God near Poplar Creek.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include three sisters, Lethal Hardin Voyles (Robert) of Grenada, Shirley Clemons (John) of Grenada, and Odessa Palmertree Moore of Grenada; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ray Winters, James Winters, Billy Province, Heath Province, Hayden Province, and Alan Clemons.

Harold Ray Blakely
(May 20, 1947 - August 14, 2011)
Funeral services for Harold Ray Blakely of Winona will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Eskridge cemetery in Eskridge.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 15, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Tuesday, August 16, from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Blakely died of heart failure on Sunday, August 14, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. He was 64 years old.
Mr. Blakely was the son of the late Fred and Annie Lee Blakely. He was a retired roofer and a member of Eskridge Baptist Church. He served 14 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Sullivan; and three brothers, James Fred Blakely, Homer Blakely, and Bernard Blakely.
Mr. Blakely is survived by two daughters, Laura Cook and Lisa Blakely; one son, Larry Blakely; two sisters, Mary Lee Flint and Barbara Jean Johnson; two brothers, John Pat Blakely and Jerry Clifford Blakely; two grandchildren; and thirty-two nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kris Blakely, Bill Johnson, Gene Blakely, James Blakely, Eddie Blakely, and Jerry Blakely. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Goodson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eskridge Baptist Chuch General Fund, c/o Rev. Terry Corley, 122 Lodi Road, Winona, MS 38967.

Lavis Box
(April 17, 1923 - October 26, 2013
Funeral services for Miss Lavis L. Box of Memphis will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Wood Springs cemetery in Choctaw County. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Miss Box died of heart failure at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis on Saturday, October 26. She was 90 years old.
Miss Box was the daughter of the late Claude and Emma Trussell Box. She was a retired teacher, having served both the Tennessee and Mississippi school systems for over 40 years. She was never married icon , but dedicated her life to protecting her family. She always looked forward to the holidays and the family gatherings at Grenada Lake. She was deeply religious and so giving of herself throughout her life.
She will be missed.
Miss Box is survived by sisters, Imozelle Howell, Vonnie Lou Box, and Frankye Barnett; brothers, William Box and Robert Box; and a host of nieces and nephews.
